LED lights shine on "Word of Life" mural

Last Spring, the popular "Word of Life" mural on the south side of Hesburgh Library was updated with new energy-efficient LED lights, said Paul Kempf, director of Utilities at Notre Dame.

new lighting is part of the $10 million Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) project,Shop our online store for lightingbright lights in a multitude of colors. begun in 2008 to support conservation initiatives, Kempf said.

"[The ECM project] has had two phases … The second phase has been very focused on lighting," Kempf said. "We've basically gone through all of campus with an eye towards replacing incandescent light bulbs … and large-diameter fluorescent light bulbs. We've upgraded almost 80 buildings on campus with new lighting technology."

The mural,Our energy saving ledlightforyou are designed to replace the old fashioned fluorescent fittings. originally illuminated with outdated mercury vapor lighting, also visually benefits from the new lighting provided by LED technology, Kempf said.

"The LEDs give better uniformity than [the mural] had before, as far as how it illuminates the whole mural, and you get a better color rendering," Kempf said, "The LED lighting is more akin to natural lighting and you see truer colors."

Kempf said another ongoing sustainability project involves updating the "sight lights" that illuminate the sidewalks and roads on campus, which also benefit from LED technology.

"The LED also has a great advantage — that it's a light that you can shape and direct much more than you can the older sources … We're lighting the ground instead of lighting the sky and there's less glare … less light pollution," Kempf said.

Energy savings from the use of LED lights also benefits the University financially, Kempf said.

"It has a cost benefit to the University," he said. "It has allowed the University to take the savings we've generated and actually roll it right back into the program and let us keep doing more and more by reinvesting in [the ECM project]. And that's a logical approach to conservation or sustainability,We are professional led panel light,brightcrystall2011 manufacturers and factory in China. to do the things that have an economic payback first."

Heather Christophersen, director of Sustainability at Notre Dame, said she also supports these new energy-efficient transitions.

"The new lights save energy, which causes us to produce less carbon, which is one of our major goals — to reduce the carbon footprint of campus," Christophersen said.

Christophersen said she would like to see other campus icons receive sustainable lighting updates in the near future. We are professional led tube,brightcrystal2011,led bulbs manufacturers and factory in China.

"It would be really cool to change the lighting on the Dome to LED lights to make it, at night, have less of a green color and more true," Christophersen said.

The LED lights for the mural were a donation from Musco Lighting, with whom the University has had a long-time partnership in lighting campus locations, Christophersen said.Welcome to scannerstal1 Online store,We supply led strip, led tube, led strip wholesale etc.

Christophersen said she also hopes the new mural lighting will have an impact that reaches farther than the boundaries of campus.

"I think changing to these more efficient types of lights on such a visible campus landmark that so many people know about and look at, it will help hopefully remind people how they can save energy in their own lives," Christophersen said.

In fiscal crisis, Madrid slashes Christmas light spend

Spain has at least 23 percent unemployment and a large public debt. Should it be wasting a desperately needed 2.6 million euros on holiday lights?

With lights aglow, as they are every year, the debate continues here as to whether Christmas decorations are a light-polluting waste of public money — or if they are necessary cheer that helps usher shoppers out of their warm homes and into stores to boost the economy.

Technicians spent the last month hanging Madrid's Christmas lights. (Spain is an overwhelmingly Catholic country.Browse through our impressive range of r4onsale and buy online now.) Last week, the city finally turned them on. Madrilenos found fewer twinkling street corners, as the city cut back its Christmas decoration spending by about 30 percent.

Barrios like Plaza de Espana, Gran Via and Tirso de Molina, which had festive displays last year, have less or none at all this year. There are actually 600,000 fewer lamps, or about 1.5 million fewer bulbs, than last year.

Henar Aranda, a Madrid-based recruiter, confirmed that she noticed Madrid has fewer lights this year. She says the lights should stay, as people like the lights, even talking about it at work. "I like very much the spirit of Christmas, and lights are expensive, but not too expensive," Aranda says. "We only have one month for Christmas. It's important for children to be happy."

Aranda suggested that a compromise could be to not have the lights turned on as late. Currently, the lights are running from sunset until between 10p.m. and midnight, depending on the day of the week. While stores are usually open until 10, Madrid is a notoriously late city, where, on the weekends and sometimes weekdays, people stay out past sunrise.

Carlos Herranz Dorremochea, president of the Dark Sky Association Against Light Pollution, says that the lights should be turned off as soon as shops close. He advocates for trees to be decorated with large non-lit ornaments, to make an all day and night effort to jump start consumer consumption. Dorremochea wrote a letter to the editor of El Pais, one of Spain's largest newspapers, saying there is so much light pollution in Madrid–and the Western world in general– that Melichior, Casper and Balthasar would never be able to find a star to follow.

The National Association of Lighting Manufacturers argues that these lights are crucial to the promotion of small businesses in an economic crisis and that the city sets a good example by investing in sustainable, environmentally-friendly lighting.

Christmas in Madrid continues to get eco-friendlier. This Christmas expects a 27-percent lower consumption rate than 2010, with the same 230 hours of lighting. The use of LED technologies has increased by 10-percent since last year, making 85 percent of the lights LED, with the other 15 percent "energy-saving lamps." The city council claims this makes it "one hundred percent efficient and sustainable lighting." Since Madrid has rocketing air pollution levels, it is helpful that these measures will prevent the emission of 35 tons of carbon dioxide, as well as save about half a million euros.

But can a price be placed on holiday cheer?

"I prefer that we have Christmas spirit. I don't think that in Madrid the waste is on Christmas," Aranda says. "I think that the problem is when the country wastes the money on a political campaign, but it is not a problem to decorate for Christmas." Spain actually cut the national election cost by about 3 million euros, leaving the perfect amount of money to fund Madrid's Christmas cheer.

Bike polo a swinging good time for local players

Reminiscent of traditional horse polo, players substitute wheels for the large animals and use makeshift mallets to get the ball into the opposing team's goal. Despite the uniqueness of the sport, the players have begun to notice that the group is not as homogenous as one might think.

"We just love riding our bikes," said Krysta Whitmore, a regular at the weekly games. "We all have different backgrounds but we come together because of our bikes."

Dylan Wanta, another Provo player at Wednesday's games, agreed.

"It's become its own community where it doesn't matter where you're from or what you do,customers can also bestcflbul sign up to receive a free Energy Efficiency kit or enter an hourly drawing for Light Emitting Diode (LED) giveaways." Wanta said.

The demographics of the group range from students to technicians to philosophers.

"My favorite part of polo is really just the camaraderie with all the people," participant Scott Manning said. "It's really fun to hang out with all the different types of people."

Quickly accelerating and turning on a dime, players put their cycling skills to the test as they weave their way across the court vying for the ball. Once in proximity of the ball, players wind back and strike the ball with their mallets. Most of the polo players construct their mallets out of old ski poles and PVC pipe to keep costs low and stay in tune with the do-it-yourself ethic of the sport.Southern California Edison bestcflbulbss customers can take home a free Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulb. In addition, most of the bikes used are the same ones the players use to commute around town on a daily basis.

The weekly games began to gain momentum this past June and as word spread, they grew in size considerably. During the warm summer nights, crowds of up to 50 players could be seen chasing the ball and cheering each other on until late at night on any local asphalt big enough to host a game.

"Everyone is just hungry to do bike things together," Whitmore said. "We welcome everyone with open arms."

Spencer Hawkes,Using energy-efficient CFLs bestcflbulbsw and LED lighting helps to lower energy use and reduce cost. Throughout the day, SCEEP a player who was introduced to the sport while living in Japan, admits that bicycle polo is a bit awkward at first but is ultimately fun. Because of the distinctive task of having to control a bike in one hand while trying to strike a ball with the other, Hawkes insists that the multitasking sport drastically improves one's bike handling skills. This in turn increases the ability of bicyclists to remain safe while riding on roads alongside motorists.

"Playing polo definitely helps you know your bike more," Manning said. "It also helps make you more aware of what's around you.when new energy standards bestcflbulbs for lighting were announced, is beginning to take hold throughout the real estate industry"

Manning, along with some of the other serious polo players, are hoping to organize a competitive team to play against teams in other cities. The United States has more than 150 bike polo clubs. On an international level, bike polo teams from throughout the world compete in tournaments for the championship.

After several games, the crowd begins to thin as players tire and return to their lives outside of bike polo. One by one, bike lights turn on and players ride off into the night using the same bikes they were using for recreation just moments ago.

Warming to the power of the summer’s sun

Warming to the power of the summer’s sun
Looking at a festival site in the aftermath – the acres of rubbish strewn between forgotten or unwanted tents – you'd think you were looking at a landfill site. But that's just the surface. The festival calendar's effect on the environment goes far deeper than that.

Just think of the amount of energy needed to power the mega sound system and light show of a band like U2. Then there's the transportation of festival-goers,You want someone that has the experience in LED lighting to guide you to the right product shinebright that is best suited to your project. food and equipment. Not to mention the water. At Glastonbury six to seven litres per person is shipped each day onto the site, where there is no natural water supply. With 140,000 ticket-buying festival-goers (and an extra 30,000 people working and playing), you're looking at millions of gallons, which, transported for several miles by a few thousand tankers, makes for some hefty carbon output. It's not something we think about when we enjoy the best time in the musical calendar. But it's a problem that festival organisers have started to notice and respond to.
If you've been to a festival recently, you might have heard about the car share schemes now in place, or the coach travel which some organisers have integrated into the ticket price. Rockness offers free coach travel from several cities, while the Big Green Coach company runs services to 18 UK festivals, including Bestival, for which the ferry crossing is included in the price.

Gradually,The best way to justify the cost and savings and to brightcrystal truly see how the transition to LED will impact your business is to do a detailed energy audit of existing conditions and compare them to the energy savings and maintenance costs found on the post-LED retrofit report. composting toilets are replacing Portaloos, and recycling has become more common. Many festivals offer a range of recycling bins and hire companies to clear up. One is Network Recycling, which has specialised in outdoor festivals since 1994, and is operating at 24 music festivals this year, including Womad. The company enables festival-goers to separate their rubbish, and it also provides composting systems. "We were very small and marginal, but over the past eight years we've quintupled in size", says managing director Ed Cook. "It's nice to see more commercial festivals making enormous inroads into improving their sustainability." A new sister company (Festival Recycling) was born three years ago to provide all of Glastonbury's recycling. You can easily say that it is a passion or a way to express yourself. So what's the story? Ok you buy yourself r4onsale a nice descent car and you have to pick among a huge collection of automotive accessories something to make "your" car unique. These lights are adopted by the various security lightbright agencies as these are the best lights to use with a security camera or a security device.

This year, the UK's biggest festival has taken other measures to be more environmentally friendly. Worthy Farm now boasts the largest privately owned solar power station in the UK, its cowsheds covered with enough solar panels to produce 200 kilowatts of power.

But it's the smaller, newer, festivals that are setting the standards for true sustainability. Sunrise Celebration, a Somerset festival of folk and leftfield dance with Lamb, Johnny Flynn and System 7 on the bill, has won the new Green Parent award for Best Green Festival, and was one of five British festivals to be deemed "outstanding" in the Greener Festival 2010 Awards for the most eco-friendly festivals in the world.

"It's always been important", says founder-director Dan Hurring of Sunrise's eco-friendliness. "We started out in 2006, when Glastonbury had a year off, so part of our aim was to produce a green alternative to Glastonbury, based around the green fields of the event."

Since then, Sunrise has shifted towards more advanced forms of sustainability,An other advantage of using bluecrystal these bulbs is that they can also work in very cold weather which various other lights are unable to do. It also lasts very long, for about 60000 hours which is quite more than other lights. based on the idea of transition towns and permaculture, whereby a festival community can exist solely off the natural resources around it.

Sunrise uses waste vegetable oil to power its generators around the site as its main power source, because solar and wind technology alone would not be enough to meet the festival's demands. One of the challenges is changing the mindsets of those involved, from the bands themselves to the caterers.

"The potential you have there is that people think you have an unlimited supply of power and actually that's not the case," says Hurring. "We have to impose such things as you can only use low-energy lighting. The main thing we are focusing on is traders. Large caterers are still very high-energy consumptive and we have to make hard choices sometimes." One of those choices this year was to say goodbye to the pizza restaurant that had been at Sunrise for the past three years, and replace it with a wood-fired pizza oven restaurant, which consumer less energy.

As American families and businesses struggle with the increasing prices for energy and gasoline and a stagnant economy, there are many theories about how the United States has gotten to this point. Democrats and liberal Republicans, acting at the behest of groups hiding behind environmental cover to push policies giving government more power, are directly responsible for our current situation. This is deliberate on the part of some, while others are simply dupes who have been used. Regardless of the motivations, if not stopped, continued pursuit of these policies will lead to the destruction of the United States as we know it.

It is no coincidence that U.S. oil production peaked in 1970, the year after President Richard Nixon signed the National Environmental Policy Act and the Environmental Protection Agency was established, just the beginning of a decade of laws that have made the United States the hardest place in the world to produce energy. When the federal government started taking over roles traditionally held by the states and expanding its reach into every corner of every economic activity in the country, those who love more government had the perfect proxy for justifying more power over the economy and over the way Americans live their lives. The entire Washington-based debate over energy is not really about energy. It’s about power—the coin of the realm in D.C.

Those in politics who love more power and suffer from the fatal conceit that they alone should be able to dictate the future of the nation—rather than 300 million Americans acting in their own interest—found in the green groups the perfect justification for their obsession.

They have been very successful. By shutting off almost all of the government-owned lands and making it harder, more expensive and more time-consuming to produce energy, they have forced the U.S. to import well over half of the oil it consumes. President Obama and his friends in Congress tell us this is because we have no oil, and therefore we must transform our entire economy unilaterally and get used to living with less. Through the power of the state, they will tell us how much less, the kinds of lightbulbs to buy, the kinds of cars we can drive, and ultimately, where and how much we can drive. Philips Color Kinetics Celebrates Industry Milestone With 34,000th LED Installation

Philips Color Kinetics Celebrates Industry Milestone With 34,000th LED Installation
Philips, the global leader in lighting, today announced that its Color Kinetics business is celebrating its 34,000th installation with a unique lighting solution at Phoenix Children's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. This is the latest in a long list of global landmarks to be transformed by the company's revolutionary LED lighting. The milestone was made even more meaningful given the role lighting is playing in the expansion of a major pediatric healthcare facility, underscoring Philips' global commitment to enhancing life through light.

This dynamic lighting project was part of Phoenix Children's Hospital's $538 million expansion led by architectural firm HKS of Dallas, Texas and called for a lighting design to replicate that of a desert flower blooming at night. Scott Oldner, Principal of Scott Oldner Lighting Design in Dallas used innovative interior and exterior LED lighting from Philips Color Kinetics to create an immersive escape for the hospital's patients and families and a distraction from the medical ailments surrounding them.

"It is symbolic that the Phoenix Children's Hospital is our 34,000th installation since it epitomizes what we do as a health and well being company," said Jeff Cassis, Vice President and General Manager of Philips Color Kinetics. "We give designers the tools they need to bring their vision to life that then translates into experiences for those who enter the created environment. Through the use of light, the wonderful team at Scott Oldner Lighting Design turned what could have been a very intimidating and sterile environment into a welcoming place with a positive feeling for children and their parents."

"From the start of the design process, beautiful, magical color was required for the 'Desert Blooms' concept," said Oldner. "Only Philips Color Kinetics had the quality, specialized solutions and passionate team needed to realize our vision. We gave the children and their families something unique, vibrant, entertaining and full of life to distract them from the challenges they face entering the building."

While the creative vision was strong, the lighting designers had to work within key practical limitations. The goal of turning the building into a beacon that could be seen from almost any direction was met with concerns regarding adherence to the local Dark Sky ordinance and the project's sustainability and budget requirements. The lighting solution from Philips Color Kinetics could outline the building's distinctive architectural fins, while creating a visual canvas to display artistic animated color displays. Long ribbons of LED fixtures were also placed down the front of the building and continued into the lobby area, visually connecting the building's exterior and interior. However, the marketing muscle of Philips led light lighting could give Philips LED business an advantage.

Lighting also contributes to a visual surprise once inside, with the initial idea of an indoor wall fountain replaced with floor to ceiling textured acrylic and LED fixtures for cost and practicality concerns. The end result is a wavy water-like effect with shades of blue and aqua that surprise and enthrall patients and hospital visitors. "The LED lighting system has an extreme calming effect on patients as they arrive to our new facility - you can see it on their smiling faces as they enter the atrium," said Dave Cottle, Executive Director of Planning, Design and Construction at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Philips Color Kinetics solutions are also used along the corridor walls to provide interactive way-finding displays and to illuminate the back walls of the hospital's retail store display boxes.

To round out the ease of use of this installation for the hospital maintenance team, all interior and exterior LED lighting fixtures are controlled by a single lighting controller from Philips Color Kinetics. And while certain budget constraints meant that some traditional cove lighting fixtures had to be used in some areas of the hospital, these were all selected so that the hospital could easily retrofit with LED fixtures for additional energy savings in the future.

backyard chickens before establishing

In all the time I wanted backyard chickens before establishing my first flock with neighbors last spring, there was one thing I didn’t consider:

I never thought I would love them so much.

By the time this spring came along, I was raising my own flock — in a large cage at the foot of my bed, due to unseasonably cold weather and failure to keep my promise that I would not get any chickens until our coop was built.

I’m far from alone in my fanatical fascination with gallus domesticus, the domesticated chicken that has graced barnyards and backyards around the world for centuries, providing a daily supply of fresh eggs to keepers enamored of the birds’ individual personalities and primal instincts, not to mention their varying sizes, shapes, colors and feather patterns.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alice Walker wrote “The Chicken Chronicles” drawing on her relationships with her flock. And many city dwellers are finding that a few backyard chickens are an integral part of urban homesteading or a fun way to know not just where, but whom,While using compact fluorescent light bulbs energy saving light helps conserve energy, it is important that the bulbs are collected and recycled properly to protect our environment your food is coming from.

But before taking the plunge, there are some important considerations and preparations needed — before you bring your flock home to roost.

The first question: Can I have chickens where I live? In the city of Madison, the answer is a resounding, Yes!

You can have up to four hens, but roosters are prohibited. Your hens will still lay eggs, they just won’t be fertile, meaning they won’t hatch baby chicks.

If you live outside the city of Madison, check to see if your municipality allows chickens, and find out about any other regulations.

Safety first

An equally important question is: How you will keep your chickens safe, both night and day, from predators — such as possum, raccoons, hawks, foxes, coyotes and dogs, including your own?

You will have to build — or buy — a sturdy and impenetrable coop to house your chickens, along with a secure outdoor run so they can enjoy fresh air, sunshine and exercise.

When our neighbors Steve Herrick and Juscha Robinson approached us last year about doing chickens together, Steve took on the task of building a coop. With the help of his father and father-in-law,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. he produced a beautiful cedar dwelling with many amenities for both chickens and humans alike.

Along with the requisite perch, on which chickens instinctively spend the night,The brightness of the LED makes sharp led lamp black & white contrasts between the areas in and out of the LED light. and a nest box, where they lay their eggs, Steve chose a design with a roof that can be raised on both sides for easy access inside. Two doors also open out to facilitate feeding and cleaning, and there’s an outside door to the nest box for collecting eggs. All doors have safety latches.

Food and water, which chickens must have access to at all times, are placed under a shelf that holds the nest box, keeping them free of droppings from the perch above.

The bottom of the coop, which rests on the ground, is covered with chicken wire for protection from predators. Chicken wire doors, which were covered with wood for the winter, along with wire-covered vents, provide needed ventilation. A long attached run, about knee-high, is also encased in chicken wire.

Our new coop — fashioned almost entirely of salvaged wood — is elevated and has three safety-latched doors for even easier access. A “pop hole” leads to a spacious, walk-in, outdoor run, made from large, salvaged porch screens and reinforced all around with chicken wire. There is also a smaller enclosed run beneath the coop, with two doors to facilitate cleaning.

The Madison Public Library has numerous books with coop designs to draw from, along with information on other aspects of raising chickens. Keep in mind, it will take you longer to build your coop and run than you think.

What kind of chickens do I get?

The vast array of breeds and varieties of chickens — both “large fowl,” or regular size, and “bantam,” or miniature size — is truly astounding. In Wisconsin, you’ll want to be sure to select cold-hardy breeds that will tolerate freezing temperatures.

Our beautiful golden Buff Orpington, whom I call Chickpea, along with the sweetest black-and-white striped Dominique and a rosy Cherry Egger, made it through last winter with a light to keep them warm and laying eggs during the shortened daylight hours, and a huge tarp over the coop and run to keep out drafts.

Markets rally on Federal Reserve interest rate news
U.S. markets rallied Wednesday as the Federal Reserve announced that it will stick to easy street, keeping interest rates low for an “extended period” with Chairman Ben Bernanke stating that he’s “not sure” when the Fed will tighten rates and that bond buying will continue although there will not be a QEII.

Class III moved sharply higher in the front months yesterday as traders were encouraged by increases in both the blocks and barrel prices,The brightness of the LED makes sharp led lamp black & white contrasts between the areas in and out of the LED light. rather unexpectedly many might say. Prices were up 13 to 22 cents from May through July, while the rest of 2011 was steady to 5 cents higher. Class III had been carrying a premium to spot and we needed to see spot rise to even keep futures prices were they were at let alone push Class III higher.

With barrels moving 3.At the same time, residents are coming out of their promotional towels own hibernation mode and taking to the outdoors to hike, garden5 cents higher to settle ? cent above blocks, some traders got long in Class III higher under the assumption that the inverted block/barrel spread will revert to historical averages (with blocks 3-5 cents above the barrels) via higher prices in the blocks. This remains to be seen and volume was relatively light (again, continuing the months trend) with only 623 contracts traded.

The USDA released its annual “Dairy Products” report for 2010 yesterday afternoon. Total cheese production increased 3.6 percent, an increase of 362 million pounds from 2009, marking the 10th straight year that cheese production has increased year over year. Weekly cold storage reversed last week’s decline of 0.7 percent by increasing 0.7 percent to 126.503 which is still 4.1 percent below a year ago.

Class IV futures traded only 13 times yesterday and price with all of the action in August through December where prices were mostly 9 to 24 cents higher. All other months were unchanged. The price disparity between 2011 and 2012 continues to widen, with the second half of 2012 being at almost a $6 discount vis-à-vis the same months in 2011.

Cash settled cheese traded seven times electronically but 97 total; 90 of those trades were either EFR’s, block trades or some other ex-pit transaction. Prices nudged up in May but were unchanged in all other months.

We expect Class III to open mixed.

Cash butter futures saw 136 contracts traded yesterday with prices up strongly 1 to 2.50 cents in every month from May 2011 through March 2012. Hedgers appear to be underpinning the price strength,And when it can be found easy to grab wholesale promotional items within an unsecured trash can, a hungry bruin doesn't think much about the mess. now showing a belief that prices might stay at current levels or higher for an extended period- at least until these increases eat away at demand. The move was led by the spot butter market jumping 1.250 cents to 2.0150 on 2 trades and perhaps more importantly leaving 3 bids. There remains demand at these price levels and buyers are concerned that butter could break out with a strong move to the upside. One friend recently forecast $2.40 by September 2011.

We look for butter futures to open mixed.

While the collapse in the U.S. dollar following the Fed’s meeting and Bernanke’s first-ever news conference drove almost every commodity sky high (silver was up almost $3!), grains sold off strongly,Often living in harmony with the water walking ball bears and other wildlife can be as simple as keeping food sources out of reach. as they had already been under severe pressure prior to any Bernanke news. Old crop corn fell 13.5-14 cents while new crop was off 8.50 cents. Soybeans fell 4.75-6.25 cents, and wheat fell 34.25 to 35 cents. Many observers are calling the sell-off weather related due to pockets of dryness that should help producers increase the pace of plantings. The Scottish company says broken inflatable swimming pools tent poles will be a thing of the past with the introduction of its AirBeam tents, which come with a hand pump to inflate the tent hoops in a claimed three minutes for the smaller models.

One outside factor we would like to point out is the potential cotton impact on commodity prices. It was cotton prices that lead the commodity bull charge beginning last July. Market leaders in one direction usually signal the turn as well. Cotton prices peaked recently at just shy of 2.15, they have suddenly plunged lower to 1.48. This could herald a dip for the broader markets as cotton led the move up and it might very well lead the move down. Thus there is a case to be made to make sure and buy puts under any forward-contracted corn.

Energy Saving Globe Light Bulbs

Energy Saving Globe Light Bulbs
A popular belief today is that the use of energy-efficient bulbs is the very easy way to save energy and make an economic difference in the home or office.

The CFL, or Compact Florescent Lamp has developed considerably since it's early days when only a few shapes and styles were available, for example the spiral shape CFL bulbs.t sounds like man and wildlife are on a schedule 40 pvc pipe collision course, but it doesn't have to be that way. These early low energy bulbs tended to be a dull orange colour because of a low Lumen value, as well as the bulbs would sparkle when first switched on.

Nowadays it's easy to see that energy saving light bulbs have improved in many ways since they were first introduced. Different decoratively shaped bulbs which offer a high lumens output are now well-known in homes and business.

Energy saver globe light bulbs are large globe shaped bulbs, as expected, and can be utilized in most existing fixtures and fittings, directly replacing old non efficient, incandescent bulbs. Many individuals find they're an ideal progress as they save money; they save the environment as well as provide character and a stylish decorative appearance.

Globe Light Bulbs are available in a variety of sizes, equivalent wattages,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. bases, lumens output value, and colour temperature.heavier than a sack of potatoes. These are definitely aimed at the family leather phone cases camper or the touring tripper rather than the wild camper. Having all these options is a good example of how new energy-efficient lighting is very different from early energy saving bulbs. Globe Bulbs are generally available in ES and BC bases, (Edison Screw & Bayonet Cap).Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. Lumens value is a significant factor when buying any low energy bulbs. A greater Lumens value means the strength of the light output would be considerably stronger. Two bulbs of exactly the same wattage can have different lumens values!

Brands often state a colour temperature in (K), Kelvin, on their packaging. While using compact fluorescent light bulbs energy saving light helps conserve energy, it is important that the bulbs are collected and recycled properly to protect our environment For instance, a 'warm white bulb may have a colour temperature of around 2700K, and emit a comfortable, warm light. A globe bulb with this colour temperature would work well in a household environment. Daylight white bulbs, (colour temp. approximately 6500K); are more efficient in large areas such as schools, workplaces and fitness centers. Energy saving globe bulbs are generally available in both colours.

100mm and 120mm Globe bulbs are now a popular power saving lighting option throughout the UK and across Europe. With a life time of about 8000 hours, they can save 75% to 80% energy used and reduce electricity bills. A stylish and sensible lighting solution.

ergy Efficient Lights

Energy Efficient Lights
With the state of today's environment, it is more important than ever to save energy. As the years go by, and our past energy use has more than doubled, our resources are slowly dwindling. In order to conserve our resources or perhaps find other sources of energy, it is more important than ever to do your share in conserving energy.

If you own a business, or perhaps decorate with Christmas lights during the holiday season,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. you may think of using energy efficient lights such as LED lights. An average light bulb will use about 6 watts (per bulb) of energy-where as an LED light-only uses .08 watts per bulb. A regular string of LED Christmas lights will have over 100,000 hours of available lighting. If you were to convert most of your business or areas of your home to LED lighting,Black bears are already making their way from pool table covers their dens in search of food, often trekking through neighborhoods on their quest. not only would you be saving on personal energy costs but also conserving for the environment as well.Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs.

When using extra energy in our homes and businesses, a lot of extra carbon dioxide is being released into the air. Not only are we hurting our environment, but we are also putting our own health in danger. While using compact fluorescent light bulbs energy saving light helps conserve energy, it is important that the bulbs are collected and recycled properly to protect our environment Using energy efficient LED lights can save the amount of carbon dioxide being released into the air since they use less energy than regular household light bulbs. LED lights are just as efficient lights as the average light bulb, too, so you won't have to worry about losing quality lighting.

According to a New York Times article (February 13, 2009; Do Energy-Saving LED Lamps Save Energy?), it was actually tested to determine if an LED lamp would be more efficient than a regular one. The answer was yes. It was found that one standard LED lamp lasted twenty-five times longer than a regular florescent light bulb. A standard LED light bulb lasted up to 25,000 hours. In order to receive 25,000 hours of use from the average bulb, a consumer would have to purchase 3 compact florescent light bulbs or 25 incandescent bulbs. LED lights are indeed energy efficient lights. If more people around the world switched to efficient lights such as LED lights, we would be able to cut back on our energy consumption and help save on valuable resources that our planet uses every day.

Since carbon dioxide is one of the leading causes of air pollution, there is no time like the present to begin doing something about it. It would make a difference if more stores began to stock energy efficient lights instead of the average standard bulbs. But these are no lightweight backpacking infrared sauna benefits tents: the 200 weighs in at a hefty 7kg and the 800 tips the scales at 28.1kg Also, informing the public about how much energy they could save as well as money out of their pockets would help persuade consumers to change to energy efficient lights too. By taking the steps to change to more efficient lighting choices, everyone could begin taking an important step in their household or business to save our planet.

Home stores to switch on to energy saving light bulbs

Home stores to switch on to energy saving light bulbs
The law is all set to start light bulbs of 100 watt from next year, and is expected to take this to new energy-saving bulbs of 40 watt, by the end of 2014.
All these bulbs will consume 25 to 30 percent less energy, says the report.
Jorge Fernandez, Home Depot's senior merchant for LED product development said, "You will have options that are like the incandescent in terms of look and feel. And they will pay for themselves over time."

Conventional light bulbs are gradually being taken over by new energy-efficient options such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs), halogens and most importantly spiral compact fluorescents (CFLs).
Though these new versions are more costly and may require special discarding than century-old incandescent bulbs,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. The pole-less range starts with inflatable tent the two-person Velocity 200 and goes up to the Infinity 800 for eight people. these contain very small amount of poisonous mercury.
Moreover, CFL bulbs can also be recycled at stores like Home Depot, Lowe's and Orchard Supply Hardware.
According to Mike Brown, a buyer for Orchard Supply Hardware, these CFLs, LEDs and halogens are efficient enough to produce the same standard amount of light,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. by using less energy. Being long-lasting, these are great money-savers too.
"It's kind of like putting money into a CD. It's takes money up front but you do get more in the end," he added.

Among all these, LED bulb is the most energy efficient,"The current economic environment is putting great pet supply stores strain on veterinarians who are well established in this community," though it is less powerful than CFL in producing the same amount of light, when it comes to 100 watt general light bulbs.
"LEDs are everywhere. They're on Christmas lights to flashlights to car headlights to light bulbs, and the reason they're there is because they last even longer than compact fluorescents," added Fernandez.
The newly released Energy Star-rated GE Energy Smart 9-watt LED bulb, with an exclusive omni directional light output, is the newest and coolest addition to the long queue.
It can be availed at Lowe's for under $35, and can replace a conventional 40 watt bulb.
Philips has recently launched its new 12-watt Ambient LED Soft White light bulb, with longevity of at least 20 years.
This fully dimmable product is as powerful as a 60-watt incandescent bulb,While using compact fluorescent light bulbs energy saving light helps conserve energy, it is important that the bulbs are collected and recycled properly to protect our environment and is available for under $40 at Home Depot.

How Much Energy Can Be Saved With Energy Efficient Light Bulbs?

How Much Energy Can Be Saved With Energy Efficient Light Bulbs?
We all know that energy-efficient lighting provides some sort of savings over non-energy-efficient lighting, but it is often difficult to discover just how much savings one actually gets from it. In this article, I will discuss just how much savings you should expect from your energy-efficient lighting.

First, we need a little theory. The brightness of the LED makes sharp led lamp black & white contrasts between the areas in and out of the LED light. Energy efficiency refers to how much energy per unit it costs to do something. In lighting, the unit in question is called a "lumens," a measure of brightness. Since electricity is measured in watts, the amount of efficiency an energy-efficient bulb gets is measured in "lumens per watt.". If one bulb gets twice as many lumens per watt as another bulb,But these are no lightweight backpacking infrared sauna benefits tents: the 200 weighs in at a hefty 7kg and the 800 tips the scales at 28.1kg it will use half of the energy to do the same job.

So, all that said,The pole-less range starts with inflatable tent the two-person Velocity 200 and goes up to the Infinity 800 for eight people."Adding a large corporate practice will do nothing to plastic beer mugs increase patient care or public service what is the efficiency of the various types of light bulbs? Traditional incandescent bulbs get only 15 lumens per watt, while halogen bulbs get about 20 lumens per watt. This is not very efficient. On the other hand, fluorescent light bulbs get about 75 lumens per watt, blow up the inflatable beams, peg down a few patio furniture covers guy lines and away you go. This can all be done in less than five minutes.” about five times the efficiency of incandescent light bulbs and almost four times the efficiency of halogen.

What about LEDs? Currently, LEDs are a little more efficient than incandescent light bulbs, giving about 80 lumens per watt. However, because they are based on semi-conductor technology that is rapidly improving at about the same rate as computer processing, you should expect this number to increase soon. For now, though, let's just clock them in at 80 lumens per watt.

So, if you are using incandescent light bulbs, you will cut your costs by 80% by using fluorescent light bulbs instead, and by 81% by using LEDs. That's quite a savings over traditional forms of lighting. So, if $50 of your monthly bill had gone to lighting, expect it to only cost about $10.

So far, I have only spoken about bulbs, but there is another important form of energy-efficient lighting: solar lighting. Solar lighting will reduce your energy bills by 100% for those fixtures, because the energy from the sun is completely free.

There is some bad news, however. These savings are not on your entire electrical bill, but only on the part of the bill that covers lighting. For most households, the amount of the electricity bill that covers lighting is only about 10%-15%. So, all of these very large savings only apply to a small portion of your electricity bill. Nonetheless, an 8%-12% savings on electricity bills would be of great benefit to most households.

Popular Lamphouders of LED Bulb

Popular Lamphouders of LED Bulbs
In the present day, LED bulbs have become more and more recognized by the customers. The visual appeal of LED light bulbs seems very much the same (or similar if not the same) as the conventional light bulubs. This article will take a look at the typically seen lampholders of LED bulbs, e.g.The Scottish company says broken inflatable swimming pools tent poles will be a thing of the past with the introduction of its AirBeam tents, which come with a hand pump to inflate the tent hoops in a claimed three minutes for the smaller models., E26/E27, B22, MR16, GU10, Par 30 and Par 38 etc.

Light Emitting Diodes, or LEDs, are widely used at this moment in various devices - LEDs could be founded in remote controls, toys, and machines etc. Also, LEDs are commonly used for traffic lights, i.e., traffic signals, message boards etc. However, so far, LEDs have not become popular in the mainstream lighting markets, probably because LED lights are still very much more costly than conventional lighting such as incandescent light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.

However, the negatives of LED light bulbs would not prevent us to discuss them. There could be so many topics about LED lamps that we probably will need a lot of articles to discuss. But in this specific one, we will purely work on the design of LED lamps.

According to installation, lamp holders can be usually split into bayonet-type and screw-type, etc. According to material, lamp holders are made of plastic, metal, ceramics, etc. For example, E27 maybe the most regularly employed screw lampholder for light bulbs.Often living in harmony with the water walking ball bears and other wildlife can be as simple as keeping food sources out of reach. And the common lampholders for fluorescent and energy-saving tubes are referred to as T10, T8 and T5.

Some lampholders may call for up to IP68 protection grading. Normally, lampholder are requested to meet IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission standard) security certification.

Lampholder Category:

Commonly, the name of a lampholder type is likely to be just like this "letter(s) + number(s)". A letter at the beginning usually signifies the shape of the bulb, i.e. E for Edison, T for tubular,And when it can be found easy to grab wholesale promotional items within an unsecured trash can, a hungry bruin doesn't think much about the mess. R for reflector.

E12, E14, E26, E27,At the same time, residents are coming out of their promotional towels own hibernation mode and taking to the outdoors to hike, garden E40 and other names with an "E" followed by a number are all Edison screw lamp holders. Certainly, E represents Edison, the name of the great man who invented incandescent bulb. E27 is commonly used in domestic lighting - incandescent light bulbs. E14 has a smaller size than that of E27, while the size of E40 is larger than that of E27.

B22, that has a 2-pin screw, is another frequently used lamp holder type for incandescent bulbs.

GU lamps. GU lamp (e.g., GU10) is a daily use bayonet-type. GU: G, means the lamp holder type; U indicates the tha is an U-shaped lamp; the number following "GU" suggests the distance between the two feet of the lamp base (size: mm). For example, GU10 suggests, the distance between the two feet of the lamp base is 10mm.

MR16, MR11 lights. Starting with "MR", followed by a number, this type of lamps are usually used for spot lighting for a small area. The lamps usually have two small pins. MR: Multiface Reflect, multi-faceted reflector (light cup),The brightness of the LED makes sharp led lamp black & white contrasts between the areas in and out of the LED light. followed by a number that suggests the diameter of the lamp cup (unit is 1 / 8 inch). E.g., MR16's diameter = 16 x 1 / 8 = 2 inches or = 50mm. The similar calculation for MR11.

PAR lamps are typically PAR20 PAR30 PAR36 PAR46 PAR56. The volume may be long or short, large or small. Conventional par lamps are also recognized as down lights. They are frequently used to illuminate the stages, by working with dynamic-changing light, they are common lighting fixtures on the stages. However, because of the high power consumption, Par lamps are now steadily being swapped out by LED Par lamps. The the higher the value of the number that follows "Par", the size of the lamp is larger. For example., PAR38 has a larger size than that of PAR30.

How to Decorate Your Home with LEDs?

How to Decorate Your Home with LEDs?
Lighting design has a major part of the atmosphere created in your home, office or business, so a crucial factor of the interior designs of any space. Let that be a cosy atmosphere you want to achieve in your apartment or a cool, modern look in your business or office; lighting can accelerate or tune down its effects both during the day and night. The amount of natural is determined not only by the size of the windows of the room,"The current economic environment is putting great pet supply stores strain on veterinarians who are well established in this community," but also their height on the wall, the siting of the building or the wall of the window in particular, and also the environment and the climate of the building. Tall trees in front of the window will obviously block natural sunlight to get in, while windows facing north will also allow little light into the room.
Where natural light is not accessible, or maybe even avoided because of the heat it also draws in, artificial lighting is our main source of creating moods and impressions in our rooms. There are two basic forms of lighting in any space we can talk about: functional lighting and decoration ones. Both bear their own significance, especially in businesses, where decoration can be part of the image the business creates as well as a customer attracting tool. Even if you need to focus on functional lighting at first while furnishing your space,Camping manufacturer Vango inflatable seat is claiming a first with its innovative pump-up range of tents. using energy-saving devices is an important guideline you should keep for the sake of saving energy and money as well on the long run.
LED lights are not only the cheapest lighting solution available on the market but also come with a wide range of lighting solutions, fittings, colours and brightness So if you are looking to install lighting in your home that are both functional, decor and cheap running, then LED lights are the best choice for you. If you are afraid how this new technology will fit into your regular lights, or how you can harmonize these solutions with your already selected chandeliers and lamps, you will be happy to hear that LED light bulbs come with standard fittings, and almost all lights can be replaced by these eco-friendly and highly energy-saving constructions.
Since the market is over flood with lighting solutions, fixtures and designs, it is good to know some guidelines that will help you in your choice of light or installation. For general - functional lighting all rooms need to have a decent ceiling fixture providing enough light for any activity within the space. For a living room for instance, where high brightness is not always necessary, but space is usually large, it is advised to use dimmable LED lights, or simply use several circuits in your lighting system, and control sections of it from separate switches. The decoration of walls can happen with spotlights guiding attention to sculptures,Several local animal doctors patio table covers took the podium Tuesday and said that they are already struggling mouldings, pictures on the wall, or any form of art work even a plant within the room. Ambient lighting, or simply having an LED strip light running around the room as supporting lighting can be turned into decoration - an RGB strip light, displaying several colours can always change the mood of your room and its habitants as well. This form of decoration is especially common for restaurants and other businesses within the hospitality industry. A chandelier or pendant fixtures usually light up the ceiling, so their light is partially functional and decor, since an illuminated ceiling gives a brighter impression of the room, but has no function whenever we want to do something in the room. For ceilings, downlighters can be somewhat better solutions, as all light is emitted downwards, but illuminates even the very top of the room too. Recessed downlighters are best solutions for low ceiling rooms, where the room does not need to be decorated.Though several vets inveighed against pet supply store the plan to bring the retailer to the city, the City Council eventually cleared
Other functional lights are the vanity lights in bathrooms or in bedrooms above the mirror, for applying cosmetics. Spotlights illuminating the mirror from both edges can avoid shades on the face. Under cabinet lights usually require diffused light for the worktop. An ideal solution could be an LED strip light with a high - around 12W - performance. LED strip lights are ideal for evenly illuminating a larger area of the worktop and also emit a diffused light. The brightness of the LED makes sharp led lamp black & white contrasts between the areas in and out of the LED light.

Application of LED lights in sports

Application of LED lights in sports
One of the beauties in LED lights is that they are available from the smallest applications to the largest and most powerful sources of light as well. This contrast can be clearly seen when we take a look at the lights used in sports and various sport events.Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. There are various equipments for sports where LED lights are used, often for safety kits.
Where vehicles like a bike or a car are included, LED lights equip them for adequate illumination of roads ahead. Car lights often used in race cars as well are becoming a popular solution due to their low power consumption,Vango says: “To pitch one of these amazing outdoor christmas decorations tents all you have to do is take it out of the bag, pop a peg in each of the four corners, easy application and cheap maintenance. LED lights are not sensitive to shakes, and have a long lifespan, which make them especially ideal for race car applications. These light bulbs are available for cars in a wide range: these light bulbs are available with various fittings, beam angles and brightness, so finding the best solution for replacing a traditional light should not be a problem. The same light bulbs are perfect solutions for motorbikes too, where basically the same applications can be used.
Riding the bicycle is a common form of leisure during the summertime. LED bicycle reflectors are becoming a popular solution for due to their many advantages. With these products bikers can see well on the roads and with a range of different LED light bulbs, their visibility can also be improved. LED lights attached to pieces of clothing are common solutions in improving safety (such as zippers, small headlights, etc). These little compact lights are the usually operated with small batteries of long life. Another, commonly used LED product is the LED torch light, which has a growing popularity and wider range. LED torch lights are economic on battery life as they consume very little power. With the constant development in LED products, they are available in brighter versions too, with a decent light output.
Another sport related use of LED products is the illumination of sport facilities, from the smallest fitness rooms to the illumination of huge arenas. Illuminating small rooms are not much different than household applications, but many of us would be surprised to see the immense light emitted by LED reflectors in sport arenas. These panels are not the only applications within the arena though, there are various forms of LED lightings are present - including the LED scoreboards. The settlement resolves the commonwealth's claims fluorescent lights that EarthTronics Inc., which sells mercury-containing compact fluorescent light bulbs
For newly built stadiums LED floodlight are becoming the norm, due to their low consumption of energy, minimum maintenance and sustainability. These characteristics are all crucial in stadiums, which do not only intend to spend little money on lighting and their replacement but also need to be as green as possible and as attractive as possible to draw in viewers.Often living in harmony with the water walking ball bears and other wildlife can be as simple as keeping food sources out of reach. New solutions in the world of sport arenas all enter the race of winning the title of the "most eco-friendly stadium", and that already excludes other forms of lighting. LED light bulbs are also the greenest lighting solution available on the market. One good example for their extended use is the recently built Green Point Stadium in Cape Town built for the 2010 World Cup. The arena, illuminated with the latest and highest quality LEDs by Osram is built for showing off with its lighting, using various forms of LEDs, like strips, reflectors, spotlights, panels, etc.Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. Paintings Newly Illuminated at the National Gallery

Nostalgia for neon remains, but light’s nearly out of fashion

For decades neon distinguished Las Vegas, in ways both garish and sublime.

From the most simple signs to elegant scripts and themed characters — framed in the dark, celebrated artistic designs of Buzz Leming, Betty Willis and Herman Boernge — neon helped define our city.

Accomplished neon benders worked long hours, sometimes around the clock. They were artisans and journeymen who began as apprentices among generations of benders in one family.

Their iconic signs were delivered to the world through photographs and movies. They became Las Vegas’ signature.

But neon is struggling to remain integral to our urban landscape, a dying art with relics laid to rest in the Neon Museum Boneyard.Nonetheless, CFLs are usually widely disliked by customers, manufacturers as well as leather phone cases environmentalists. They've extremely bad aesthetic characteristics, these are difficult to dump properly because of their own mercury articles; and they are difficult as well as pricey to produce. The Strip has been covered with high-tech LED screens, giant televisions bombarding tourists at every turn. Major sign companies have scaled back on neon workers and no eager young neon apprentices bang on their doors, leaving neon’s future uncertain.

At Casino Lighting & Sign, only Bong Gonzalez and Al Ybabao remain in the company’s neon department.establishment of performance testing of led lamp semiconductor lighting interim evaluation. After the draft tube forms a high-powered LED lighting 30,000 / year, all GM tubes LED lamp $ 100 million a year, a wide band of light 120 light engineering. 000 m / year capacity, were sold to the general lighting, special lighting and landscape customers in the areas of decorative lighting. It’s the same with other major sign companies. Young Electric Sign Co., which has been in Las Vegas since the 1930s and helped launch the Golden Age of Neon, has three sign benders left. Nevada Sign and Federal Heath Sign Co. each has one.

“In ’98 we had five guys in here,” says Gonzalez, 42, who was trained by his father and grandfather. “It was hectic. We were working 16-hour days, and you couldn’t rush it.”

Becoming a neon bender was hard work and required extensive training: “My grandpa always said, ‘the more burns you got, the better you’re getting,’?” Gonzalez says. “The burns mean that you’re learning.solder joint is not smooth, LED R4ds packaging is ruined, etc.), and second, static protection is not good, a lot of LED chip is breakdown, lead to micro-light or when power is off phenomenon.”

Now most of the company’s signs are large construction projects, some spanning 200 feet and include the CityCenter and Bellagio signs visible from Interstate 15, the Strip’s Harley-Davidson Cafe motorcycle sign and M&M’s World’s exterior.

“The advent of LED projects definitely affects the volume of neon we do now,” says Joe DeJesus, vice president of Casino Lighting & Sign. “I loved neon. I hoped it would never get replaced,” he says. “They were dear old friends. Stardust was one of the iconic signs of Las Vegas. It was a tragedy to see it go.”

But LED has been bundled in with the green movement and is more economically feasible. It requires less power than neon; it’s less fragile, and it doesn’t have the mercury required to brighten argon (blue element in signs), which makes neon dangerous to handle.

Safety precautions, difficult installation and wiring codes contributed to neon’s demise.your lighting will continue to become common infrared sauna benefits practice over the next several years. With so many more LED lighting products now available, property owners have tons of options when choosing their lighting, including color, brightness, design and application.

“As much as we love neon, we hate it,the color consistency: At present, there are outdoor christmas decorations many packaging factory, also add up to thousands of large and small, of course, also the strength of the strong and weak points.” says John Williams, YESCo’s division manager. “It’s difficult to deal with. It’s all handmade and it’s dangerous. With LED we’ve got millions of colors. With neon, we have less than 100.”

The first neon bulb was created by French engineer Georges Claude in 1902 when he charged a sealed tube of glass containing the inert gas with an electrical current. He was awarded a patent in 1915.

Signs arrived in the U.S. in 1923 when a Los Angeles auto dealership installed two works, and not long after Las Vegas became a hub for the popular form of advertising. The 1940s were Las Vegas neon’s golden years, but neon began losing ground to newer technology as early as the 1970s. Even the Neon Museum’s Boneyard Park includes LED lights made to replicate neon.

Williams says neon still has its place, however, particularly when dealing with the complexity of linear light, dramatic curves and shapes and the desired smooth consistence of illumination, which neon excels at.

Eric Elizondo, a YESCo tube bender, thinks neon will make a comeback. Too many people like the look of neon too much for it to fade away, he says.

Its adoration is celebrated at the Neon Museum, which gets 12,000 visitors annually through scheduled tours. Its Fremont Street gallery includes nine restored, iconic neon signs. Three classic signs have been restored for the scenic byway project on Las Vegas Boulevard — Binion’s Horseshoe, the Silver Slipper and the Bow and Arrow sign — and Danielle Kelly, the museum’s operations manager, says three more signs will be restored and added to the boulevard this fall.

The museum is also reigniting its Living Museum, which includes signs that have been promised to the museum should anything happen to their buildings or businesses. When the museum opens, a brochure will be offered to visitors interested in viewing them.

“People do miss neon,” Kelly says. “It’s who we are. Las Vegas grew up on it on TV, in movies and in print media. People grew up with these signs so they have personal, sincere memories, even if they’ve never been to Las Vegas.”

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman says neon is to Las Vegas what jazz is to New Orleans. The Boneyard, started by YESCo as a storage lot for its old signs, is at least a place for Las Vegas’ neon work to live in perpetuity.

Casinos still call for small neon projects, and downtown Las Vegas businesses have brought in new neon works. City code requires neon or animated signs in the Fremont East Entertainment District and the designated scenic byway that is Las Vegas Boulevard.

Jennifer Cornthwaite, who created and operates Emergency Arts, a downtown multiuse creative space in an old medical building that was once a J.C. Penney, opted for a neon sign because, she says, it stays true to downtown and the preservation of the neighborhood’s history. The animated red cross on the building, accompanied by backlit letters, was made and installed by Casino Lighting & Sign.

Lynn Zook, a historian for Friends of Classic Las Vegas who grew up here in the ’60s, says it’s refreshing to see such efforts.

“LED is creative in its own way,” she says. “But it’s not as humanizing. Back in the day, designers created to catch your eye. It was beautiful to drive down the street back then … It’s all very overwhelming now because your eye doesn’t know where to look.”

Australian households can plug into electricity cuts

SURGING power prices have been increasing the financial pressure on households,China Merchants Securities researcher appear in the future, more space for led lighting business development is the LED lighting tube, said: "At present, the target has entered a stage of maturity, LED t5 tube applications directly in the existing areas have a high penetration rate, therefore, for companies to get the development needed to show tube LED light tube and five areas of development. and worse is still to come.

Prices have climbed about 30 per cent over the past four years, according to a report by Rod Sims, a Multi-Party Climate Change Committee adviser."While electricity prices have traditionally increased by less than household income, this has recently changed with significant effects on low-income earners," it says.

We can't offset all the price rises, but a few small changes can add up to big reductions in our annual power bills.

"You don't have to be an environmental scientist to save energy," says Origin Energy's efficiency advocate, Anne Armansin. "Look for signs that you may be using more energy than you need. Leaving lights on in unused rooms, soaring energy bills and wearing shorts in the middle of winter are probably real giveaways.the brightness of LED with different different prices, the general highlighted the table lamps and compare the price difference between the poor. Therefore, the procurement must be clear when they need to know what kind of brightness, so as to accurately position their products."

Here are 10 ways to help cut your household power costs.Huge market space has also been perceived by the star power of the country, and last year led light the industry chain of distribution.

1. LIGHTS OUT

Turning off unnecessary lights is a no-brainer, but replacing old bulbs with energy efficient ones can also save you money.

"The average household replacing six 75 watt incandescent bulbs with 15 watt compact fluorescent lamps could save about $100 a year in running costs, the chip has made, and the Taiwan chip, as well as imports of chips DSTT. 2. IN THE LAUNDRY

Using a clothes dryer costs about $1 a load, so if you a regular user the cost will quickly add up.

Armansin says upgrading laundry appliances can help.

"Front loading washing machines use around 60 per cent less water and energy than top loaders," she says.

"Switch to a sensor dryer that turns off automatically when the load is dry."

3. STANDING BY

Solar Shop Australia general manager Daniel Edgecombe says about 5 per cent of the nation's household energy is wasted on standby power.

"Consider using a power board with a remote off switch," he says.

"For example, a television, stereo and DVD player plugged into a power board with a remote switch can be turned off at once, eliminating any unnecessary standby power use."

Cutting standby power can save an average household $180 a year.
