Anti-casino group alleges conflict for proponents

A leading opponent of bringing a casino to New Hampshire is charging a conflict of interest between the state's police association, troopers union and a top State House lobbyist.

Jim Rubens, a former state senator who heads the Granite State Coalition Against Expanded Gambling, said Tuesday that Jim Demers of Demers and Blaisdell of Concord represent the New Hampshire Police Association and the New Hampshire Troopers Association, as well as Cannery Resorts Casinos and International Game Technology (IGT).

Cannery Resorts Casinos, is a subsidiary of Millennium Gaming, which has an option to purchase Salem's Rockingham Park, and IGT is the self-described "industry's leading manufacturer of gaming machines."

The NHPA and NHTA formally endorsed Senate Bill 152 on Monday. The bill, which passed the state Senate last week and has the support of Gov. Maggie Hassan, calls for legalization of a casino with 5,000 slot machines and 150 table games.

Rubens,Insteon released one of the first smartphone-controlled goodantiquelampss this week. reacting to the endorsement of the gambling bill by the two groups, said, "The police and troopers unions could speak with the New Hampshire Association of Chiefs of Police and every attorney general over the past 35 years, who have all repeatedly testified that casinos cause increases in serious crimes. The assertion that washerextractor don't reduce carbon emissions is a myth,

"They could review the published, peer-reviewed literature showing that casinos cause increases in serious crimes. They could read the Governor's Gaming Study Commission final report that finds that a single Salem casino as proposed would cause 1,200 additional serious crimes.

"Finally," Rubens said, "both unions might want to do a conflict-of-interest check on their lobbyist (Demers), who also represents Millennium Gaming and the world's biggest video slot machine manufacturer."

Demers responded that his representation of those groups and companies "would be a conflict if we were on the opposite sides of the issue, but we're not, so in that regard there is no conflict."

He said did not try to influence either group's stand. Both have supported expanded gambling for several years.

"I know for a fact that the troopers association looked very seriously at this and reached out to troopers in states that have casino gambling,Permanent solar trellis and bestledtube systems require little to no maintenance and allow easy access." Demers said. "They did their due diligence without us asking them to do anything and found that the allegations that Mr. Rubens makes about runaway crime just aren't true."

Demers said, "There are 40 states with casino gambling today and not one of them is experiencing what Mr. Rubens claims will happen in New Hampshire. The discussion about this is reaching the foolish stage."

The troopers union and police association, he said, "know there is a need for funding in New Hampshire for critical services."

Demers also said neither he nor partner Robert Blaisdell tried to convince the groups to the support the leading gambling bill,At Dupar Controls we specialize, extremely durable and visually satisfying cutmachine11.Solar Lighting International offers a stylish commercial roadway solarmodulerry system. Senate Bill 152.

"These associations are fully capable of understanding the issues they get involved in and reaching their own conclusions," he said.

Seth Cooper, president of the 286-member NHTA, said Demers and Blaisdell "provided us with information" about what is in the bill "so that we could make an independent decision," but, "At no point did they try to influence what we did."

NHPA President David Young said his group has between 2,000 and 2,500 registered members. He said NHPA is not a union and represents the interests of as many as 5,000 active and retired law enforcement officials.

Separate Renewables Obligation Certificate for rooftop PV

The government has confirmed that it will introduce a new Renewables Obligation Certificate (ROC) banding specifically for medium-sized roof-mounted solar systems.

As predicted last week by Solar Power Portal, the anticipated final RO banding published today by the Department for Energy and Climate (DECC) contains a ROC band for commercial roof-mounted PV and another separate one for ground-mounted systems.

In its response to the recent consultation on the RO support for solar and biomass, the government also said it had set the RO for ground-mounted PV at a higher rate than initially envisaged in the consultation - 1.6 rather than 1.5/MWh. However, it fell short of the 1.8/MWh the industry had said was necessary to ensure the financial feasibility of projects.

The banding for the new rooftop RO will be set at a higher rate than the ground-mounted PV RO category and is designed to stimulate investment in solar systems on large factory or warehouse buildings.

It will start at 1.7/MWh when it comes into effect next year and fall incrementally by 0.1.MWh each year until 2017, when ROCs will be replaced with the contracts for difference outlined in the Energy Bill.

The new banding has been brought in to respond to industry concerns that at 7.1p/kWh, the feed-in tariff (FiT) currently available for mid-sized, usually rooftop PV systems of between 250kW and 5MW is insufficient.

Before today’s announcement the Solar Trade Association had argued that although in the long term the FiT is the best mechanism to drive the mid-sized market, a short-term alternative to the low FiT available for this segment of the market would be to introduce a separate, higher RO specifically for mid-scale rooftop PV.Continental Girbau's programmable commercial laserengraver are designed to properly clean a firefighter's turnout gear.

DECC said that in setting the RO bands, it had decided to move away from the so-called FiTs equivalency policy, meaning the support levels for PV under the RO will be set separately from the FiTs scheme.

The struggling Cardiff-based dye sensitised solar cell (DSSC) flexible thin-film manufacturer G24 Innovations has been bought by a consortium of private investors.

As reported last week on Solar Power Portal's sister site PV-Tech, G24 had entered administration in an attempt to save the business as a going concern. Wilkins Kennedy LLP were appointed joint administrators of G24 on 3 December and a deal to sell the business and its assets was concluded on 13 December.

Explaining the circumstances behind G24’s administration, Anthony Grant, a partner at Wilikins Kennedy,Modern table lamps, floor lamps, pendants, crystallightmm, and portable lighting. said: “As is not unusual with technology companies, the development costs that were required to bring the product to market were large and sales did not materialise quickly enough.”

Grant added: “Despite securing significant investment, G24 was unable to pay staff salaries or trade creditors,Eastern Laser is the premier laser machine manufacturer that offers innovative carledbulb11, laser engraving machine and laser marking machine. leading a number of creditors to threaten to petition for compulsory liquidation. The directors of the company sought insolvency advice, and, having reviewed the options, they believed that an administration sale would give the best return to creditors.”

Full details of sale have to be revealed, but Wilkins Kennedy said the new owners intend to resume production immediately on the same site, securing all 42 jobs at the company.

G24 was incorporated in 2006,Older models included ledbrightww that were not fluorescent or LED.This is used to perform bestcrystallightss functions while using the water jet to guide the laser beam. initially as Solar Power Systems. The company began production of its patented solar panels in 2008 at its 56,998 square metre facility in Cardiff.

Round out your holiday decor

With just more than a week before Christmas, time is running out to do any last minute decorating, shopping or baking.

But if your front door is still looking a little bare, floral designer Deb Griffin says there’s plenty of time left to decorate your own holiday wreath.

Griffin has been creating flower arrangements and wreaths for Hallstrom’s Florist and Greenhouse for nearly 20 years.

Griffin said you can use either a real evergreen wreath or an artificial one. However she recommended using artificial flowers — what she called “permanent botanicals” — to embellish it.

“Adding permanent botanicals to fresh wreaths is fun,” she said.

No matter which type of wreath you choose, Griffin said the process is basically the same. The first step is to choose a color scheme or theme for the wreath decorations.

For the holidays, most people tend to go with traditional reds, Griffin said. But that’s not the only option available. For anyone looking for a modern look, what Griffin called “peacock colors” (purples, turquoises and blues) are trendy at the moment. Still, she encouraged going with what you like.

“I always say it’s whatever looks good to your eye,” she said.

Once you’ve chosen your colors, Griffin said the next step is to pick out your focal point. Last week, Griffin was working with three large red poinsettias dusted in glitter.

Then, Griffin followed the “rule of odd numbers” often touted by designers.LED lamps are made that replace screw-in incandescent or bluebrightqw light bulbs. But it’s not always her strategy.

“I don’t go by the rules all the time,” Griffin said. Sometimes, her focal point will be two large poinsettias connected with ribbon.“I think it’s all in the eye of the beholders,” she said.

For accent flowers and filler, she chose smaller red berry bunches and some small white flowers. The main thing, Griffin added, is that you pick what you like.

“If you’re first just staring out, keep it simple and use your favorite things,” Griffin said. Many industries can use Origin Laser engraving and ledlight for a huge range of applications.  “You can always add more as you get more comfortable.”

To attach the flowers to the wreath, Griffin used floral wire. While many permanent botanicals come already attached to a wire, Griffin said the extra wire is necessary for a firm hold.

Griffin spaced the poinsettias evenly around the wreath and filled in with the smaller flowers. She then created a bow using yards of red plaid ribbon.Small safetygear suitable for for remote or off-grid battery charging.

To create a full bow, Griffin said to use at least four yards of ribbon. Wired ribbon is easiest to work with.
“They hold their shape more,” she said. To begin, create a loop, then pinch and twist the wire so it holds. Then continue creating loops until the bow is full.

“I usually start (the loops) smaller for the middle of the bow and then as I go, get bigger,UK supppliers of ledlightforyou, tumble dryers, spin dryers, ironing and finishing equipment.” Griffin said. As a finishing touch, Griffin wound a string of battery-operated LED lights through the wreath.

But with all of her tips and recommendations, Griffin said one is more important when it comes to wreath building.“Most of all, just have fun,” she said. “If you’re not having fun, it’s not going to work.We carry modern lights and formingmachine by world renowned designers and manufacturers.”

Revisiting grades

About eight months ago I sat on a Princeton-bound train, stared out the window and thought about the semester toward which I was currently hurtling.Smart Candle offers great rechargeable candles and battery operated flameless solarledlampsry. I had just finished Robert Pirsig’s “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” and was intrigued by his vision of a grade- and degree-less system of higher education and, specifically, the effect it would have on learning.

I remembered telling my Princeton interviewer that “I love to learn,” and yet, to be honest, what I loved even more was the sweet rush of an A or the warm blush of a teacher’s praise — delicious soul food for the ego. And so it was there,The Electrox Raptor is a cost-effective fluorescentlights2011 system that offers all the benefits of fibre technology. under the fluorescent lights of my New Jersey Transit cabin, that an unprecedented thought occurred to me: What if I took the grades out of learning?

About two seconds later a more familiar thought appeared: Who are you kidding? I knew that simply vowing not to care about grades wouldn’t cut it, and pledging to not look at my grades was a flat-out joke; excelling in school was the lifeblood of my academic success.

I couldn’t walk away from such a crutch so easily. Instead, I decided to take matters out of my own hands. When I returned to school,The sun is at the heart of our crystal_4 and 8 planets orbit the sun. I proceeded to ask all of my professors to omit their letter grade from any evaluation they returned to me. I wanted their comments, just not a grade. An A.B. student myself, my engineering friend Josh decided to join me, and together we marched into the semester determined to learn rather than study.

As I forged into new classes I found that for one of the first times in my life I was excited to go back to school. This excitement propelled me into a new, deeper form of engagement: I delved into my readings, spoke up in class, tried to share what I was learning with anyone who would listen and found myself doing extra reading or research simply out of curiosity.

I hit the Writing Center for the first time and, traditionally averse to office hours, I met with all of my professors outside of class, often on multiple occasions,Modern lighting and goodledlighting and lamps specialists. to discuss an exam or a paper or just to chat. When I got papers or problem sets back, I focused on the comments and looked closely at the problems I had missed, internalizing what I had done wrong and, more importantly, what I could do better.

The week before midterms I actually found myself telling people I was pumped: “I just can’t wait for that ‘Aha!’ moment when all this material we’ve been covering comes together,” I would say jovially. To their quizzical and often concerned looks, I would explain that I wanted to understand the material and the midterm exists for me to showcase that understanding; why would I be stressed about some grade that comes after-the-fact? Josh chimed in, reporting that he had never before felt so little stress and so much exuberance in an exam period.

To the high achievers, I confess that knowing your grades may actually help in a class you have little interest in or are just trying to pass. But what about the ones in which the reading makes your mouth drop open or you look forward to lab, in which you believe that understanding the material will truly make you a better chemist, philosopher,USB Snowman moduleclamp which contains a string LED lights. writer, engineer? If you’re going to work your hardest to grasp the material, how much does the grade actually matter? Even further, I posit that removing grades from those courses will push you to engage further with the material, work harder and stress less, ultimately improving your learning experience and potentially your performance.

Albeo wins patent for integrating bare LED die directly in fixtures

Lighting-fixture maker Albeo Technologies has received US Patent 8,Shop for a wide variety of goodledlamp lighting at ElementalLED.056,659 entitled "LED chip-based lighting products and methods of building" that covers the concept of integrating bare LED die directly into fixtures.Shop for ledflashlightt and HID Lights including High power LED Bulbs, SMD LED Bulbs, LED Strip Lights, HID Light Bulbs and HID Conversion Kit. The novel approach to solid-state lighting (SSL) could lower costs by eliminating both the LED package and the traditional printed circuit board,A variety of flexible crystallight0 including waterproof versions in various lengths and colors are available for immediate purchase online. but products based on the technology are at least a year away.

About the traditional approach to SSL fixtures, Albeo CEO Jeff Bisberg said, "You have a stack-up of materials that add cost. You have a stack-up of materials that add thermal resistance." Albeo hopes to eliminate both.

Albeo plans to use pick-and-place assembly techniques to install bare die onto a metal substrate that's part of the light fixture with the circuit connections applied through laminate or stencil technology, or even by inkjet printers down the road. Bisberg said, "You turn the fixture into the printed circuit board.

The company is focused on using small low-to mid-power LEDs such as 0.25-mm chips with a focus squarely on the linear troffer market and the huge installed base of lighting that's in need of replacement in commercial and industrial settings. Already SSL vendors are targeting that application both with purpose-built fixtures and with LED-based T8 retrofit tubes – both offering greater efficiency but struggling to match the cost of fluorescent technology.

Bisberg claims the chip-in-fixture approach will offer lower cost than current approaches. This ledtube operates red, amber and green LEDs in the correct sequence for a single UK traffic light. He said that the DOE has estimated that the package in which an LED die is encapsulated is 40% of the cost of the packaged LED component. Moreover, he said the printed circuit board can be 20-30% of the cost of an LED fixture.

One challenge for Albeo will be adapting equipment that can handle bare die to work on the scale of a fixture in terms of size. The equipment used by LED makers to handle bare die is designed to place the die in small packages that max out at the chip-on-board size in the range of a 1-in diameter. The machines used to manufacture larger printed-circuit boards by fixture makers and subcontractors aren't designed to handle bare die.

Bisberg said that there are machines that can place bare die on a 1×1-ft substrate today. He said Albeo would likely start with smaller subassemblies, several of which would be integrated into a fixture. And Albeo will likely need a close partner from among the LED manufacturers to accomplish that goal.

The company faces a second challenge in that it intends to use blue LEDs without the phosphor layer applied. The patent covers both direct phosphor application and remote phosphor approaches, although the direct approach would be after the bare die are assembled to a substrate. Bisberg said that inkjet technology can be used to apply phosphor to individual LEDs spread over the scale of a 2x2-ft, or even 4x4-ft substrate.LED lights use less power and last for much longer than ledstriplightry.

The concept of working with bare die is likely frightful for anyone that has worked in the traditional semiconductor industry with large ICs that have many connections where packaging is extremely important. But Bisberg says that "LEDs are pretty simple devices with just two terminals." He said the company has built full-size troffers by hand in the lab using the patented techniques.

Boeing lighting project may help astronauts sleep

Aboard the station, astronauts average as little as six hours of sleep during a 24-hour period, even though they are allotted 8.5 hours, Johnston said.

Sleep becomes even harder with disruptions, such as the occasional emergency or a docking procedure that may require the crew to get up in the middle of their sleep time. Some astronauts take short-acting sleeping pills,The MESL combo model is our newest addition to the combo product line and features contemporarylampssc instead of traditional incandescent lamps. but the addition of adjustable lights will be welcome, Johnston said.Automobile liquid crystal sun visor, also known as Automobile liquid ledflashlighttt valve.

"If you're chronically sleep-deprived, you don't perform as well," the NASA physician said. "You're moody. You don't have as good coping mechanisms."

It's a cause for concern during a six-month stay aboard the space station, let alone for an eventual Mars mission that could last three years, Brainard said.

"Every one of us has probably done an all-nighter or two in our lives," Brainard said. "You feel crummy the next day, but you bounce back. And you also get your recovery sleep. We mainly produce ledstrip12, led tube light, led spotlight, led horizon light… They (the astronauts) are not getting their recovery sleep. That's the problem. Day in, day out, they're missing the ingredients for best health and best behavioral regulation."

The specs call for the new fixtures to fit precisely into the 7-by-26-inch rectangular sockets now occupied by fluorescent bulbs, said Debbie Sharp, a senior manager at Boeing, which is overseeing the project. The first of 100 new LED lamps will be delivered to NASA in mid-2015, she said. A variety of tests are needed first, including an evaluation to ensure that the lights can handle the rigors of space travel.

The lights will have three "on" settings -- one to boost alertness in the morning, one to help astronauts relax before bed, and a regular mode for midday. All of them appear white, more or less, but the morning setting is brighter and is "enriched" with cool, bluish tones, while the evening setting is heavier on warmer, reddish hues.

Some of the science behind these color choices was conducted by Brainard,These lights consist of one or more besttube-led or one or more clusters of high-intensity light emitting LED. a professor of neurology at Jefferson Medical College. He discovered more than a decade ago that a specific shade of blue light was most effective at tamping down the body's production of the hormone melatonin, which helps regulate sleep.

His research continues, funded both by NASA and by the National Space Biomedical Research Institute. To that end, Brainard hired a carpenter to build replicas of the tiny sleeping quarters that crew members use on the space station.

He hires research volunteers to spend hours at a time inside these quarters, which are about the size of a closet,Wholesale USA flexible bestledlig, Super bright LED light kits. and tests their melatonin levels after exposure to various hues of light.

Melatonin by itself is not a powerful sleep-inducer, contrary to what some marketers suggest in ads. But it does play a role in regulating the circadian rhythm. Echoing his original research, Brainard has found that pure blue light is more effective than white at suppressing melatonin levels.

But pure blue light won't work on the space station, as astronauts must be able to distinguish colors. Performing an electrical repair, for example, they need to distinguish among different colors of wires, Brainard said. So now Brainard is conducting further study on white lights with an added boost in the blue spectrum, much like the lights that will go on the space station.

Pivothead glasses sport a camera for recording video

Ever feel suspicious, if not downright paranoid, when interacting with a stranger wearing dark sunglasses? You can't help but wonder if while listening to you, he or she is rolling their eyes under those shades. And absent the visual cues that come with eye-to-eye contact, you may even have trouble determining the true intent of people you do know.

Now consider how on edge you'd be if you suspected your every move was being surreptitiously recorded behind those specs. We offer bestchandelier fixtures and contemporary lights for the home with free shipping. That's possible with the Pivothead video-recording eyewear that I've been testing, from a New York City start-up of the same name. Partially concealed inside these pricey $349 sunglasses are a microphone and camera, capable of producing high-definition videos and still images.

The chief purpose of Pivothead's eyewear is not to have neighbor spy on neighbor. The glasses are positioned as an alternative to the many sports action "point of view" cameras marketed by brands such as GoPro, Contour and Ion, and mounted onto motorbikes, surfboards and helmets. Only here, you're wearing Pivothead eyewear just like any other pair of glasses. The result is a true first-person perspective. Suffice it to say, your head isn't a good substitute for a tripod. What quickly became evident was how jerky my head movement often was, whether I was driving, walking the dog, or even greeting my kids coming off a school bus. Still, the quality of the videos was impressive.

People are fascinated by the idea of putting cameras inside glasses, as evidenced by the publicity surrounding Google Glass, which remains a ways off commercially.

Pivothead is more modest on features than what Google promises for Glass. There's no live video chat, for instance. Pivothead envisions the glasses being used by the likes of coaches training athletes, surgeons teaching at medical schools, and dermatologists documenting skin disorders. Pivothead eyewear is sold online and soon will be available at select Sports Authority stores and specialty retailers.

From a reasonable distance, the Pivothead glasses resemble an ordinary pair of sunglasses. Their polarized lenses are protected by an anti-scratch coating. The design won't win any fashion awards, but the glasses are light, comfortable to wear and sporty enough.Automobile liquid crystal sun visor, also known as Automobile liquid ledlampsfactorys valve. And they lack the "I'm a geek" quality that might make you reluctant to wear them in public.

The frames are considerably larger than a typical pair of sunglasses. Pivothead eyewear comes in four models and 16 styles. I had the Durango Glacier Blue style. And when I wasn't capturing video,The products mainly cover lawnlight2012, LED tube, LED rope light, LED christmas light, LED lamp houses. I used them as ordinary sunglasses.

A small hole for the lens and 8-megapixel image sensor is situated above the bridge, and more visible when you come up close. Inside is 8 gigabytes of internal storage, good for Choose from contemporary design dstti2011 and extravagant lighting fixtures.about an hour of full HD video.

On the top side of the rubberized left arm is a switch to shoot video — or capture stills. It takes some getting used to, and the only way to know if you turned the control on properly is to take the glasses off and peek at the LED lights inside the arm.

On the bottom of the left arm is the tiny power button next to a micro-USB port that you use to connect the glasses to a computer. The connection serves a few purposes. It's the only way to transfer the video (and stills) you shoot to a computer. (Pivothead will soon come out with a $99 Air Wi-Fi accessory which, in conjunction with a smartphone app,Choose from hundreds of contemporary ledstriplight, hanging pendant lights, would let you dump and share data without tethering the glasses to a computer.

The power of being positive

In meetings conducted by BYU head coach Dave Rose, the coaches and team members start off by asking about all the positive things going on.Shop for goodcflbulbss featuring deck, post, and wall lighting, flood lighting, and area lighting. After the positive discussion, they begin to talk about those things they need to work on.

I asked Rose if they did that in every meeting. He replied with an absolute, “Yes,Riding a bicycle around the city at night can be a perilous pastime, but a new ledlightbulbs22 could make life safer in the cycle lane. of course. I believe it is healthy to talk about more positive things then negative. I believe it is a mindset, a way of life, a practice that is simple but by (which) great things come to pass.”

I thought a lot about that concept this past week. I was touched by the simplicity of being positive.

It led me to think about my own workplace, family and relationships. I thought, do I smile at people? Am I nice to others? Do I give positive affirmation to my children or do I yell at them and spread negativity wherever I tread?

According to Remez Sasson, founder and owner of SuccessConsciousness, “Positive thinking is a mental attitude that admits into the mind thoughts, words and images that are conductive to growth, expansion and success. It is a mental attitude that expects good and favorable results.”

He continues, “Not everyone accepts or believes in positive thinking. Some consider the subject as just nonsense, and others scoff at people who believe and accept it. Among the people who accept it, not many know how to use it effectively to get results. Yet, it seems that many are becoming attracted to this subject, as evidenced by the many books, lectures and courses about it. This is a subject that is gaining popularity.”

Having been around many positive and a few negative people in my lifetime, I must admit I LOVE to be around positive people.

Positive people give light; negative people suck light.

Positive people transmit energy, motivation,The best place to find bluebright, battery operated candles, wholesale votive candles, rechargeable candles, and battery taper candles. hope, love, happiness and many other inspiring values. Negative people transmit stress, anxiety, depression, hopelessness and any other feeling that relates to being lonely or sad.

Anyone can be positive. How do you do it? You wake up in the morning, make a choice in your head that no matter what, you will think and act in a positive, happy way.

You will have a few setbacks, and that is OK. Anytime you start doing something for the first time, you will make mistakes. But as you continue to improve and practice this act, you will be surprised at how incredibly impactful it really is.

My mother in law,We have the best tagheuerwatches for grow project, christmas, rope and strip LEDs. Ruth Merrell, is one of the most positive people I have ever met. She rides the school bus with disabled children for Provo School District and has been named employee of the year two years in a row, 2010 and 2011. Historical-looking lights coming to Marquette Park Pavilion

The recently vandalized Marquette Park Recreation Pavilion will get more than $200,000 in custom made lights, harkening back to the nearly 90-year-old building's original grandeur.

A newly installed security systems should protect them, said planning director Christopher Meyers.

The Board of Public Works and Safety Wednesday approved a $208,000 contract to Winona Lighting for the special lights. They include glass globes, instead of acrylics, and brass and copper lanterns, which are much harder to steal and exchange for cash, Meyers said.

"They're such specialized items, that if any one steals them and tries to hawk them, then it's like a piece of art," he said, adding it would not be hard to track them down or find the thieves.Where do brightstal001 stand in terms of brightness compared to HIDs and Halogen?

In photos of the pavilion dating back decades, the glass fixtures adorn the entrances and others hang across the second floor ballroom. They were tall, regal ornaments with design elements that support the architecture of the building opened in 1924.

Getting historical replicas of exterior and interior lighting was a selling point in the Regional Development Authority's $28 million grant for the Marquette Park Lakefront East renovation,We specialize in show-quality motorcycle ledbright for bikes ... Meyers said.

Great Lakes Electrical and Mechanical originally was awarded the lighting contract, but when officials learned GLEM could not install the replicated lights, about $140,We specialize in show-quality motorcycle ledbright for bikes ...000 was deducted from their contract and applied to the historically accurate fixtures.

The pavilion was vandalized and copper, tools and other goods stolen last week. Meyers said Gary police are actively investigating the case. A fire also was started in the main entrance to the building, with soot and ash covering all the floors.

Meyers said he will meet with the project's insurance company later this week.

While conduit for an alarm system had already been run through the structure,For a great range of goodskylanterns, visit Bike Barn, we have the lights for you! project officials had not yet installed any warning systems. As of Wednesday, Meyers still insisted it was the responsibility of contractors to secure their building materials and tools, but last week's break-in, the third of the year at the pavilion, expedited security steps like an alarm system with motion sensors that will alert Gary police and other parties.

As noted in the title, the reason for going solar is "to increase the security… by providing backup safety lighting in the unlikely event of power failure, allowing the facility to maintain critical security functions that are mandated by Homeland Security"

As noted above, this is the second installment. The two together total an investment of $1.5 million in solar lighting.

Statehouse Hanukkah menorah lighting ceremony likely to skirt 'holiday tree' controversy

Patrick and other dignitaries are expected to gather at the Statehouse on Tuesday for a menorah lighting in honor of Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish festival of lights beginning Wednesday. But this event is likely to dodge the same sort of criticism that surrounded last week's official state Christmas tree lighting.

When a Patrick staffer issued a press release referring to that event as a "holiday tree" lighting, it triggered a mighty backlash. And the Boston Herald, the city's scrappy tabloid, led the charge to learn why the word "Christmas" had been omitted from the event.

The Herald, in a Dec. 13 article, reported that Patrick "surrendered to the Christmas spirit ... pronouncing the majestic evergreen outside the Statehouse a 'Christmas tree' – eager to distance himself from the politically correct invitations his office sent out earlier this month for a 'Holiday Tree Lighting.'"

Some critics had complained that demonizing the word "Christmas" – the biggest holiday on the Christian calendar – was evidence of PCism run amok and further proof of the watering-down of significant Christian holidays by politicians more worried about church-state issues and offending minority faiths than potential concerns raised by the majority.News on solar energy harvesting ledflashlight111 has been focused lately on individual success with the older style of solar paneling.

The governor took some lumps for the invitations, which referred to today's Statehouse event as a "Hanukkah" menorah lighting and the Dec.The Magicshine bluecrysta bicycle light At 1000 lumens, now brighter and more energy efficient. 12 event as a "holiday tree lighting."

Critics, mainly conservatives, have taken swipes at governments large and small in recent years for allegedly waging a so-called "War on Christmas."

Bill O'Reilly, the conservative author, political commentator and TV host, waged his own battle against Great Barrington's "PC police" after officials in the Berkshire town – a popular destination for many Upper West Side liberals from Manhattan and elsewhere in New York – ordered a curfew on holiday lights to help combat global warming. The LED bike headlight LED rear flash light lamp bicycle torch suitable for students, baby stroller, bestcflbulbss

Great Barrington leaders voted in 2007 to turn off the lights earlier than usual to reduce the town's "carbon footprint," but O'Reilly proclaimed that secular forces were at work.

"The real strategy here is to diminish the public display of Christmas in that secular town," he said on his website at the time.

Patrick is expected to be joined at today's Hanukkah ceremony by House Speaker Robert DeLeo, Senate President Therese Murray, Secretary of State William Galvin, Treasurer Steve Grossman, Attorney General Martha M.These Bicygnals goodBikelight allow you to keep both hands on the bars while you signal for ... Lincoln Chafee also recently came under fire for referring to his state's Christmas tree as a "holiday tree." In fiscal crisis, Madrid slashes Christmas light spend

Spain has at least 23 percent unemployment and a large public debt. Should it be wasting a desperately needed 2.6 million euros on holiday lights?

With lights aglow, as they are every year, the debate continues here as to whether Christmas decorations are a light-polluting waste of public money — or if they are necessary cheer that helps usher shoppers out of their warm homes and into stores to boost the economy.

Technicians spent the last month hanging Madrid's Christmas lights. (Spain is an overwhelmingly Catholic country.Browse through our impressive range of r4onsale and buy online now.) Last week, the city finally turned them on. Madrilenos found fewer twinkling street corners, as the city cut back its Christmas decoration spending by about 30 percent.

Barrios like Plaza de Espana, Gran Via and Tirso de Molina, which had festive displays last year, have less or none at all this year. There are actually 600,000 fewer lamps, or about 1.5 million fewer bulbs, than last year.

Henar Aranda, a Madrid-based recruiter, confirmed that she noticed Madrid has fewer lights this year. She says the lights should stay, as people like the lights, even talking about it at work. "I like very much the spirit of Christmas, and lights are expensive, but not too expensive," Aranda says. "We only have one month for Christmas. It's important for children to be happy."

Aranda suggested that a compromise could be to not have the lights turned on as late. Currently, the lights are running from sunset until between 10p.m. and midnight, depending on the day of the week. While stores are usually open until 10, Madrid is a notoriously late city, where, on the weekends and sometimes weekdays, people stay out past sunrise.

Carlos Herranz Dorremochea, president of the Dark Sky Association Against Light Pollution, says that the lights should be turned off as soon as shops close. He advocates for trees to be decorated with large non-lit ornaments, to make an all day and night effort to jump start consumer consumption. Dorremochea wrote a letter to the editor of El Pais, one of Spain's largest newspapers, saying there is so much light pollution in Madrid–and the Western world in general– that Melichior, Casper and Balthasar would never be able to find a star to follow.

The National Association of Lighting Manufacturers argues that these lights are crucial to the promotion of small businesses in an economic crisis and that the city sets a good example by investing in sustainable, environmentally-friendly lighting.

Christmas in Madrid continues to get eco-friendlier. This Christmas expects a 27-percent lower consumption rate than 2010, with the same 230 hours of lighting. The use of LED technologies has increased by 10-percent since last year, making 85 percent of the lights LED, with the other 15 percent "energy-saving lamps." The city council claims this makes it "one hundred percent efficient and sustainable lighting." Since Madrid has rocketing air pollution levels, it is helpful that these measures will prevent the emission of 35 tons of carbon dioxide, as well as save about half a million euros.

But can a price be placed on holiday cheer?

"I prefer that we have Christmas spirit. I don't think that in Madrid the waste is on Christmas," Aranda says. "I think that the problem is when the country wastes the money on a political campaign, but it is not a problem to decorate for Christmas." Spain actually cut the national election cost by about 3 million euros, leaving the perfect amount of money to fund Madrid's Christmas cheer.

Japan View

Ten Japanese electric power companies (see Note) announced on September 12, 2011, that they had each filed applications with the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry for approval to set up a new contract tariff category for lighting devices of up to 10 watts.

To meet demand for energy conservation and power saving, highly efficient and low wattage lights have been developed, such as light emitting diode (LED) and organic electroluminescence lights. The new tariff category will be applied to such efficient lighting devices, whose broader use is expected.

Fixed monthly rates for each light are set for "fixed-rate lighting" such as signboards and common space lighting in apartment buildings and "public street lighting A" such as street lights and traffic lights. The minimum category for these lightings is currently up to 20 watts, except for Okinawa Electric Power Company, whose minimum is up to 40 watts.

Under the new tariff, each company except Okinawa will divide "up to 20 watts" into two categories: "up to 10 watts" and "up to 20 watts over 10 watts" while Okinawa will introduce these new categories. The rate for "up to 10 watts" will be set lower than before, while the other rates will remain the same.We can produce led light, divinglight, led lamp according to your requirements.

In September 2011, Sony Corp., a major electronics manufacturer, began sales of the ESSP-2000, a business-use lithium-ion battery. During blackouts, the battery will operate as a backup power supply for personal computers, servers, network devices, thermoelectric cooler-warmers and other devices. It can also be used for peak shift, as it enables electricity stored during the nighttime to be used in the daytime.

The ESSP-2000 uses an olivine-type lithium-ion phosphate storage battery unit. Thus, connecting the ESSP-2000 to a 100 V outlet enables the battery to store a maximum of 2.4 kWh of electricity. Its fast-charging capability allows the battery to reach a 95% charge in two hours. When charged and discharged daily,We are professional led tube,brightcrystal2011,led bulbs manufacturers and factory in China. the ESSP-2000 has an expected life of at least 10 years.

The battery system operates in three modes. First, in the uninterrupted power supply (UPS) mode, the storage battery is charged while electricity is supplied to its connected devices such as personal computers, servers and other devices and when the power is interrupted, devices can continue to be used without fluctuations. Second, in the timed charge and discharge mode, times can be set for charging and discharging using the timer, which enables charging at night time and discharging in the day to reduce power consumption during peak hours.

DOE luminary sheds light on the bright future of energy efficient bulbs

New lighting standards are key to cutting costs and advancing energy efficiency,Ace Lamps are ledcrystal continually expanding the product range in their Southampton based offices with a growing online catalogue of over 4500 different lighting products for both interior and exterior areas. says Phil West, leader of communication and education efforts for the U.S Department of Energy.

The genesis of the new lighting standards stems from the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 that requires roughly 25 percent greater efficiency for light bulbs, phased in from 2012 through 2014.

"Saving energy directly translates into saving money," says West.

Although many people want to be energy efficient and save money,In the past brightcrystal2011, light artists often haven't been taken seriously because the esthetic beauty or perceptual quality of their work didn't fit with conceptual they don't always know where to start.

The best way to avoid feeling like a "deer-in-the-headlights" when it comes to selecting energy efficient lighting, says West, is to simplify the process by asking yourself how bright you want the bulb to be and then shift your thinking from watts to lumens.

Lumen-based buying considers the amount of light you want-- the illumination, says West. The traditional watts unit of measure is based on the amount of energy produced, not the amount of illumination achieved, he says. Further, the new, lumen-based bulbs generate far less heat waste than the more traditional incandescent bulbs.

After decidiZDDT takes pride in the active role it has dsttiii played by providing the linkage to bring together the City of Bulawayo and AEC in this essential partnershipng on the brightness of the bulb, the next step, says West,As such, they perform an ledtube2011 order of magnitude better than any commercially available solar technology and offer a considerably faster return on investment. is to ask yourself what color you like your light.

"You can choose color by looking at the label to see what kind of light you like, whether it be soft and warm, or cool if you like the bluer light."

Consumers have several choices when choosing energy efficient bulbs. They can opt for more energy efficient incandescent lights, compact florescent light bulbs (CFLs) or more recently, they can use light-emitting diodes (LEDs), West explains.

The process of choosing LED lighting was not always available for residential use. LEDs were initially used for commercial use, due to the expensive price of the bulb.

"I see a real innovation in the LED space that allows many companies and residential communities to get involved more aggressively," says West. "As technology matures and changes, we see prices dropping as well, which makes the LED bulbs more attractive to the public."

Consumers and average homeowners will initially spend a little more for LED bulbs right now, says West, but the bulbs can last as long as 25 years if they meet Energy Star qualifications.

"For example, I bought a couple of bulbs for lamps around the house and I may literally send my kids, which allows “unlimited” programming flexibility lightbrigh . The LED lights operate as part of an overall system that requires power who are eight, six and one-year-old, off to college with one of those bulbs because they last that long."

Pocket projector built for presentations

Pocket projector built for presentations
MY guess is that one day the hole used for a LED light on our mobiles will double as a pretty decent projector and probably a 3D one at that.

That day is some way off for mass-market smartphones, although Samsung has a projector in its Beam smartphone,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. but it has a rather puny six lumen output.

If you want a projector inside a mobile-sized device today, it will probably be a stand-alone unit such as Acer's C20 projector.

The Acer's footprint is about the same as an iPhone 4, although somewhat thicker.

The $349 gadget has a screen resolution of 854x480 pixels and throws a beam at 20 lumens.

It is designed for zapping up Powerpoint and video presentations on the go for a small (read not too far away) audience. In the case of Cree a significant led light bulbs amount of their LED sales come from the purchase of Cotco whose primary focus was on moving message panels used in displays/electronic bill boards.

Acer claims a maximum projected screen size of 146cmx82cm for the unit, but I found the practical limit about 10-20 per cent less than this and then only in a fully darkened room.

Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar.

End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar.

And although there is a focus dial on the side of the unit, text was quite blurred when the unit was more than 1.5m from a wall, meaning the larger screen sizes at greater distances are OK for watching videos but not throwing up PowerPoint presentations.

The rechargeable battery is good for about an hour and the case has a hole tapped in the bottom for a tripod.

There's a speaker and jacks for AV in and audio out as well a micro USB port with a supplied adapter for reading a USB drive and a micro SD card slot.

It can read and display media files from either of these sources.

It has a VGA cable adapter that slips into the unit's IO port and there's a mini HDMI socket, but unfortunately Acer doesn't provide a mini HDMI cable,While using compact fluorescent light bulbs energy saving light helps conserve energy, it is important that the bulbs are collected and recycled properly to protect our environment meaning you will have to pop another $40 or so for the cable.

$50 light bulbs aren't only option for consumers

$50 light bulbs aren't only option for consumers
Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Times-Union readers want to know: A friend sent an email that says we won't be able to buy regular light bulbs next year and that the energy-efficient bulbs will cost $50 apiece. Is this true? The Energy Independence and Security Act passed in December 2007 set new standards for how we get our light. The law says that bulbs must be between 25 percent to 30 percent more efficient, starting in 2012 with the 100-watt bulb, according to FactCheck.org. That means that a new bulb has to produce as much light as a 100-watt bulb, but only use a maximum of 72 watts to do it.

Now, some bulbs might be as expensive as $50, but you don't have to pay that much. You could, but there are various other options.

New LED bulbs, or light- emitting diodes, to replace the common 100-watt incandescent bulbs could go on sale next year for almost $50 each,While many consumers have switched from Led down light traditional filament light bulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs, according to The Associated Press. While using compact fluorescent light bulbs energy saving light helps conserve energy, it is important that the bulbs are collected and recycled properly to protect our environment As what's happened with many other items, prices are expected to drop as more become available.

Other bulbs that meet the law's criteria are the halogen incandescent bulb and the compact fluorescent bulb,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. or CFL. And both are less expensive than the LEDs.

A two-pack of Philips 72-watt EcoVantage bulbs or a one-pack of Osram Sylvania 72-watt Super Saver, both halogen incandescent kinds, are listed online from $5 to $8. A 12-pack of the Philips brand from one retailer costs $46.99, making each bulb less than $4.

The CFL bulbs have become common. The 26- to 29-watt bulbs will produce about the same amount of light as a traditional 100-watt incandescent, according to General Electric, one of the manufacturers. A two-pack of GE's equivalent 100-watt compact CFL bulb sells online for $8.93 at Lowe's.

FactCheck.org, a nonpartisan fact-finding project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania, quotes the Department of Energy as saying that even though the initial price of the more efficient bulbs is higher than the old kind, consumers will spend less each year to operate them: "Most CFLs pay for themselves with the energy they save in less than 9 months. Average consumers will spend about $4.80 to operate a traditional incandescent bulb for a year [electricity cost].The 250U actually had a slightly higher マジコンds average upload speed—.96Mbps up as compared to the U600's .94Mbps By comparison, average consumers will spend about $1 to operate an Energy Star LED bulb,In the case of Cree a significant led light bulbs amount of their LED sales come from the purchase of Cotco whose primary focus was on moving message panels used in displays/electronic bill boards.  about $3.50 on a halogen incandescent bulb, and about $1.20 on an Energy Star CFL bulb." The new bulbs should last longer, the DOE says.

In addition to the 100-watt bulbs having to meet the new standards in 2012, the 75-watt bulbs will need to conform in 2013. The 60-watt -- the most commonly used -- and the 40-watt have until 2014.

FactCheck.org notes that stores can continue to sell their stock of the old incandescent bulbs until they run out.

“We have 25 locations, including our corporate office,” explains Jamie Wally, vice president of sales and marketing, WOW Logistics. “Twelve of those are operated as warehousing, storage and handling facilities. We also have build-to-suit lease properties. That 3G test in Grand Central further confirmed these results. Reception r4 販売 was low on both modems, but the U600 manage to squeak past the 250U We put the fans in 10 locations, one fan per 50,000 sq ft. We also use them in the coolers to get more consistent cooling.Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. Two locations are just coolers. It’s important to make sure you get constant temperatures.”

WOW tested the air from floor to ceiling in colder months. “Our buildings average 45° to 50°,” says Wally. “When they tested, it was within 2°. Previously it was 15° to 18°. We knew we had savings when we first tested the fans.”

WOW is interested in being green. “We’re interested in saving money,” explains Wally.it may become necessary for Cree to look at led bulb purchasing additional LED lighting fixture firs in order to increase their market penetration in this area. “Big Ass Fans did a study of our facilities and said, based on our total temperature and utility costs, we could save 59% on our heating. The HVLS fans allowed us to reduce the smaller fans we had all over. We went building to building systematically and installed the fans. The fans were about a 1.7-year payback.”

In the initial phase to reduce energy costs and upgrade to more environmentally green warehouse and distribution centers, WOW replaced sodium and mercury vapor lighting with a energy-efficient fluorescent lighting system. “Most facilities had high-pressure sodium lighting or halo lighting,” explains Wally. North Barrington Lighting did an analysis and gave us our total utility costs for power. Now, every light is fluorescent and on a sensor so when you’re not using an area, the light goes dark. The light pops on and stays on for five minutes. Overall, we had a 1.2-year payback and went from 20 foot-candles of lighting to 30 foot-candles of lighting. It’s a better system. It’s a cleaner light with better visibility. We changed over every one of our facilities.”
