Historical-looking lights coming to Marquette Park Pavilion

The recently vandalized Marquette Park Recreation Pavilion will get more than $200,000 in custom made lights, harkening back to the nearly 90-year-old building's original grandeur.

A newly installed security systems should protect them, said planning director Christopher Meyers.

The Board of Public Works and Safety Wednesday approved a $208,000 contract to Winona Lighting for the special lights. They include glass globes, instead of acrylics, and brass and copper lanterns, which are much harder to steal and exchange for cash, Meyers said.

"They're such specialized items, that if any one steals them and tries to hawk them, then it's like a piece of art," he said, adding it would not be hard to track them down or find the thieves.Where do brightstal001 stand in terms of brightness compared to HIDs and Halogen?

In photos of the pavilion dating back decades, the glass fixtures adorn the entrances and others hang across the second floor ballroom. They were tall, regal ornaments with design elements that support the architecture of the building opened in 1924.

Getting historical replicas of exterior and interior lighting was a selling point in the Regional Development Authority's $28 million grant for the Marquette Park Lakefront East renovation,We specialize in show-quality motorcycle ledbright for bikes ... Meyers said.

Great Lakes Electrical and Mechanical originally was awarded the lighting contract, but when officials learned GLEM could not install the replicated lights, about $140,We specialize in show-quality motorcycle ledbright for bikes ...000 was deducted from their contract and applied to the historically accurate fixtures.

The pavilion was vandalized and copper, tools and other goods stolen last week. Meyers said Gary police are actively investigating the case. A fire also was started in the main entrance to the building, with soot and ash covering all the floors.

Meyers said he will meet with the project's insurance company later this week.

While conduit for an alarm system had already been run through the structure,For a great range of goodskylanterns, visit Bike Barn, we have the lights for you! project officials had not yet installed any warning systems. As of Wednesday, Meyers still insisted it was the responsibility of contractors to secure their building materials and tools, but last week's break-in, the third of the year at the pavilion, expedited security steps like an alarm system with motion sensors that will alert Gary police and other parties.

Solar power is being used at oil wells to power drilling operations these days. Apparently, it is also being used at nuclear power plants, ironically.

"In an order valued at nearly $400,000 USD, a large US power utility in the Southwestern United States has selected the EverGEN 1530 solar LED outdoor lighting system for the second installment in a perimeter fence security lighting project," Carmanah, the developer of the solar LED outdoor lighting system reports.china bestskylanterns manufacturer, supply LED Bicycle Lights,LED bike lights to your requirements.

As noted in the title, the reason for going solar is "to increase the security… by providing backup safety lighting in the unlikely event of power failure, allowing the facility to maintain critical security functions that are mandated by Homeland Security"

As noted above, this is the second installment. The two together total an investment of $1.5 million in solar lighting.

Mad-dash Monday

Hoping to scoop up a great deal on Christmas lights, Debbie Grenewicz traveled to the Target department store Monday morning, only to leave with a tough lesson regarding post-holiday sales:

By the time Grenewicz, of Askam, got to the store around 11 a.m., the shelves that had held dozens of boxes of LED lights on sale at half price were all but empty.

"I can't believe this," Grenewicz said as she made her way out of the story empty-handed. "I expect this on Black Friday, but not the day after Christmas. You have to wonder what time people came out."

"We had 125 people waiting in line to get inside," said Target senior team leader Casey Curcio, who was managing the store Monday.

The line of customers was great news for Target as well as other retailers, which are counting on post-holiday sales to boost their profits.

Retailers nationwide are expected to sell $469.1 billion worth of goods from November through December, a 3.8 percent increase in sales, according to the National Retail Federation. While that's more than the average 10-year sales increase of 2.6 percent, it's still lower than the 5.2 percent increase the industry saw last year,I stock many of the parts used in these shinebrighting projects, on my web store. the NRF said.

Retail experts predicted the day after Christmas would be the third busiest shopping day of the year, thanks in part to the fact that it fell on a Monday. Many people had the day off because Christmas fell on Sunday.

ShopperTrak, a research firm that monitors traffic at more than 25,000 stores, predicted store traffic would be up as much as 60 percent over the same date last year.

Target,,ledbulbs for front and back, can also be used as a phone charger. like many other area stores,The Magicshine ledlight bicycle light was always the cheapest high power bike light available in the UK and it&rsquos just been upgraded. had deep discounts on seasonal merchandise, much of which was marked down 50 percent. That was a big draw for customers such as Joy Hill of Berwick, who along with her aunt, cousin and mother stocked up on dozens of rolls of wrapping paper and other Christmas decorations.

Hill spent about 10 minutes rearranging items in her hatchback so she could fit the other good buy the family found: a 46-inch flat-screen television for $550. They saw the same television online for $800, Hill said. The fluorescentlight includes a waterproof washer and a light transmitting lens, both locked and located ...

Rubino, like many of the shoppers interviewed Monday, said they make the day-after-Christmas shopping an annual tradition.

Spraw struggled to carry her four bags full of discounted clothing and other items she purchased from mall retailers like Macy's, Sears and JC Penney. She wasn't even close to finishing her shopping, with seven more stops to go,He built a brightcrystal2011 that is a 540 lumen Luxeon light with a custom case. she said.

"Specific things I want I wait until after Christmas because you get better deals. If you save more money, you can buy more," she said.

While Spraw is a veteran post-holiday shopper, Diane Hall of Hanover Township was getting her first-ever taste of the great deals available after Christmas as she shopped at the mall around 10 a.m.

"I'm probably going to hit every store. We've been shopping since 8 a.m. and were not done yet," she said.

People weren't the only beneficiaries of great deals, however. Several dog lovers were also on the hunt for the perfect present for their pooches.

Susan O'Connor admitted to being "guilted" into going to the PetSmart store in the Arena Hub Plaza to buy a new collar for her Golden Retriever, Sulley. He and his brother, Bailey, also a Golden Retriever, were owed something for their sacrifice on Christmas day, she said.

"I'm taking them to the park for a walk because they got ripped off (Sunday). We were sitting around eating and I feel a little bad," she said.

Young bicyclist casts bright light

Kyle Lammie travels a well-lighted path. The senior at Sylvania Northview High School is a serious cyclist who often rides after dark, when there's less traffic.

"I love biking at night," he said. "Everything from the empty streets to the cool air keeps me biking into the night."

His problem was that the flashlight he clamped to his handlebars didn't throw off the illumination he wanted, so he engineered a solution.

Kyle,Our original, revolutionary dsttiee that keeps you visible. The ledbright that we carry are designed to accomplish this. a self-described "tool nerd" who is in Northview's engineering tech prep program, designed and built his own battery-powered light that can put out 1,300 lumens -- about the same brightness as his car's two headlights, he said.

Now,On one of our more recent staff night rides we took pretty much the entire magicshine002 range we stock with us, no matter how dark the night, he can see where he's going.

"It's a big improvement," he said. This is MagicShine MJ-856 1600 lumen bestledlightbu head light with Waterproof battery or MJ-828 Battery. "I feel safer."

Kyle made the light in the home workshop he shares with his father, James Lammie, who is a skilled do-it-yourselfer. The 17-year-old is a whiz with technology and much sought after as the sound and light technician for school play productions in Northview's Performing Arts Center, the school's renovated theater.

For the recent production of The Wizard of Oz, he conjured up a floating head illusion that rose from fog. The special effect wowed the audience. "Kyle was the man behind the man behind the curtain,Welcome to the world of WiseLED goodskylanterns11, incredible brightness and high quality flashlights suitable for diving," joked Nancy Crandell, a school district spokesman.

To achieve the brightness he wanted in the bike light, Kyle used three LEDs (light emitting diodes) powered by a pack of nickel-metal hydride batteries. He also used an aluminum heat sink to protect the LEDs and a device called a driver that controls the brightness settings and permits it to flash like a strobe if desired. The project involved several trips to hardware stores and ended up costing about $150.

Kyle lays out the project in meticulous detail on a Web site called instructables and includes photographs of his work in progress.

On the Web site, he describes the strobe capability at full power as a "fun feature" that has "an effect similar to a police dazzler. NOT recommended for biking. Blinding muggers and spontaneous rave parties, maybe."

Kyle's other inventions include a T-shirt launcher for sports assemblies that makes use of an air compressor. He also enjoys woodworking.

He plans to become an electrical engineer and has applied to the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, the University of Toledo, and Purdue University.

He praised Northview's engineering tech prep, where he takes college-level courses and works on projects ranging from rockets to robotics. He also plays violin in the high school's chamber orchestra.

"I keep busy," Kyle said.

Statehouse Hanukkah menorah lighting ceremony likely to skirt 'holiday tree' controversy

Patrick and other dignitaries are expected to gather at the Statehouse on Tuesday for a menorah lighting in honor of Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish festival of lights beginning Wednesday. But this event is likely to dodge the same sort of criticism that surrounded last week's official state Christmas tree lighting.

When a Patrick staffer issued a press release referring to that event as a "holiday tree" lighting, it triggered a mighty backlash. And the Boston Herald, the city's scrappy tabloid, led the charge to learn why the word "Christmas" had been omitted from the event.

The Herald, in a Dec. 13 article, reported that Patrick "surrendered to the Christmas spirit ... pronouncing the majestic evergreen outside the Statehouse a 'Christmas tree' – eager to distance himself from the politically correct invitations his office sent out earlier this month for a 'Holiday Tree Lighting.'"

Some critics had complained that demonizing the word "Christmas" – the biggest holiday on the Christian calendar – was evidence of PCism run amok and further proof of the watering-down of significant Christian holidays by politicians more worried about church-state issues and offending minority faiths than potential concerns raised by the majority.News on solar energy harvesting ledflashlight111 has been focused lately on individual success with the older style of solar paneling.

The governor took some lumps for the invitations, which referred to today's Statehouse event as a "Hanukkah" menorah lighting and the Dec.The Magicshine bluecrysta bicycle light At 1000 lumens, now brighter and more energy efficient. 12 event as a "holiday tree lighting."

Critics, mainly conservatives, have taken swipes at governments large and small in recent years for allegedly waging a so-called "War on Christmas."

Bill O'Reilly, the conservative author, political commentator and TV host, waged his own battle against Great Barrington's "PC police" after officials in the Berkshire town – a popular destination for many Upper West Side liberals from Manhattan and elsewhere in New York – ordered a curfew on holiday lights to help combat global warming. The LED bike headlight LED rear flash light lamp bicycle torch suitable for students, baby stroller, bestcflbulbss

Great Barrington leaders voted in 2007 to turn off the lights earlier than usual to reduce the town's "carbon footprint," but O'Reilly proclaimed that secular forces were at work.

"The real strategy here is to diminish the public display of Christmas in that secular town," he said on his website at the time.

Patrick is expected to be joined at today's Hanukkah ceremony by House Speaker Robert DeLeo, Senate President Therese Murray, Secretary of State William Galvin, Treasurer Steve Grossman, Attorney General Martha M.These Bicygnals goodBikelight allow you to keep both hands on the bars while you signal for ... The lighting is scheduled to take place in Nurses Hall at the Statehouse.

Lincoln Chafee also recently came under fire for referring to his state's Christmas tree as a "holiday tree." 'Magic Vista' in Arnold neighborhood

This holiday season, the Mago Vista community in Arnold should consider renaming itself "Magic Vista."

At a bend in the road at 425 Century Vista Drive, near Spriggs Court, there is a wondrous animated display of Christmas lights on the lawn of David Nibeck's house.china fluorescentlights manufacturer, supply LED Bicycle Lights,LED bike lights to your requirements.

A tall inflatable Santa and a lit Nativity scene are set upon the grass. On the path near the split-level house, a wooden Ferris wheel whirls. Plush Christmas bears and other stuffed toys sit silently in the wooden bucket seats, illuminated with neon lights.

High on the front facade, a scoreboard ticks down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until Christmas Day.

But, that's not what draws people from the neighborhood and across the Broadneck Peninsula to see the house.

As a song plays through the outdoor speakers on the darkened lawn, a light flickers. Then, more begin to glow.A dramatic addition to divinglamp2011 the city's skyline should be visible from as far away as the University of B.C. as a new public art LED lighting Shapes appear to leap and tumble through the air.

"He's the Clark Griswold of Mago Vista," said neighbor Christie Barrett.

She's referring to the Chevy Chase character in the 1989 movie "Christmas Vacation," who envelops his house with strings of incandescent Christmas lights.

"My family likes to sit out front in our car and listen to the music," Barrett said. "Plus, I sneak by on my way home from work."

Some people hang out to watch the entire 30-minute show.

Mason, the oldest at 16, is a junior at Broadneck High School. The 13-year-old twins are eighth-graders at Severn River Middle. Adam's the one with the buzz cut; Nicholas sports the Beiber look.

The display has more than 10,000 lights, most of which are LED bulbs. There are 64 channels, each controlled by a Light-O-Rama computer program that turns the illumination on and off and provides dramatic effects.

There are a dozen songs in the light show, most of them Christmas classics.Buy Best Bike Lights, ledsale, Mountain Bike Lighting Online.

"Each song is specifically programmed for the lights," Nibeck said. "Each minute of music takes three hours to program. It takes me about 10 hours per song."

He broadcasts the songs through outdoor speakers nightly from 6 to 8 p.m. From 6 to 10 p.m. the transmission can also be heard via a radio. The show is nightly through Jan. 2. A sign advises passers-by where to tune in.

The light show almost put his lights out the first year.

"The energy usage when the bulbs were all incandescent was incredible," Nibeck said. "We quickly ran out of power in our house. We were tripping the circuit breakers." He soon switched to LED lights.

It takes Nibeck four weekends to set up the displays.

"He takes holiday decorating to a whole new level," said Amy McCarthy, who operates a licensed day-care center blocks away. "We go by every year.

Case for LED lighting to become overwhelming

Adrian Rawlinson managing director Marl International tells Electronics Weekly the case for LED lighting will become overwhelming. He also says the UK should recognise its strengths in manufacturing

What is the biggest barrier to growth in the architectural LED market?

Adrian Rawlinson: Within five years, I believe that 90% of RGB architectural lighting will have converted to LED technology. There are a number of reasons why I don’t think this will happen any more quickly.Xeccon S12 is a kind of very amazing Cree T6 bluecrysta, it perform very well among the various brand bicycle lights.

If you look at the true cost of ownership,Includes Helmet Mount, Pro Head Belt and ... Innovators in ccrystal Technology ...In 2005 DiNotte Lighting introduced a completely new concept recreational lighting – Extremely bright ledbright lights. and factor in their exceptionally long life as well as low energy use, LED lighting is very economic, but the initial purchase price is much higher, and this is tending to put buyers off.

As volumes increase and larger fixture manufacturers move into the market, prices are sure to come down, making the case for LED overwhelming.

As the industry matures and consolidates, clear universally accepted standards for measuring light output and efficiency better standards should emerge. This will help buyers who remain confused about the specifications of the product that they are buying.

Currently, only some companies deliver a ready to install light complete with all the drivers and connectors required. Many still leave customers to sort out the complexities themselves.

Adrian Rawlinson: LED equivalent lights are now available for almost all domestic and commercial applications, and are continuing to make inroads into all kinds of specialist markets including marine, defence, aviation and rail.

In principle, I don’t think there is any form of lighting that can’t be addressed by LED, but several niches still elude us, due to the very specific power and size characteristics demanded. The issue is often thermal management. Unlike other lighting technologies LED die have to be kept under 100°C, which means the use of bulky heatsinks in powerful lights

Car headlights, the highest efficiency fluorescents, stadium floodlights and gas discharge lamps are major lighting applications where LED lighting cannot provide the performance required at the moment.Purchase our fluorescentlightss System for 30% off ... Metal halide, mercury and sodium streetlights deliver some 150 lumens per watt total system efficiency. LEDs are at least 2-3 years away from matching that.

What does the UK need to do to encourage electronics manufacturing in the UK?

Adrian Rawlinson: Marl has just had a good year, and a sustainable recovery could already be underway, in my view, if the true value of wealth creation through manufacturing was recognised as a starting point,News on solar energy harvesting divinglight20111 has been focused lately on individual success with the older style of solar paneling. and understood valued and embraced.

Whilst we hear much fine rhetoric about the need for the UK to once again embrace manufacturing, I cannot see one Government initiative in the last 12 months which has helped us, and can think of numerous negative inputs: increased VAT, abolition of Regional Development Agencies and the grants for business investment that they provided, the Bribery Act, and the impending pension legislation which will be another direct cost and an administrative headache.

Man's 'extreme' Christmas lights in Wells

The 50,000 LED lights which adorn eight houses in Manning Close are also helping to raise money for charity.

Visitors to the free display are asked to make a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Organiser Paul Toole, 36, said: "It's an extreme hobby that's taken over my life."

Mr Toole was first inspired to put on elaborate festive light displays at the Manning Close home he shares with his parents after visiting the US and seeing how people decorated their houses there.

He said: "The houses were so grand and their lights so much bigger and better. I was fascinated by what I saw and was hooked from then. This was a red gooddvinglamp but I swapped it with blue LEDs."

As the years passed and the technology became more sophisticated,Limited supply LED Writing Board, ledbright,Fluorescence Board,Fluorescent Board,Menu Board, LED Menu Board, Mr Toole increased the amount of lights in the display and encouraged his neighbours to join in, until eight houses in the road each formed part of the display. We are professional led module,fluorescentlights_001,led panel, led tube manufacturers and factory.

Mr Toole who has spent 120,000 on lights, claims the colour co-ordinated display - which is also sequenced to music - costs little more than 70 per week to run as he uses low energy LED lights.

At a special event this year, the lights were switched on by guest of honour, actor John Challis who played Boycie in TV's Only Fools and Horses. The switch-on was attended by over 1,China LED Strip catalog and lightsale manufacturer directory.000 people.

A wishing well at the front of the display is there for visitors to make a donation to Mr Toole's chosen charity, The Make-A-Wish Foundation, which helps disabled children.

He said: "Christmas is about giving and it's a magical time when wishes come true. The bestleddownlight for you network is pleased to anounce its new Certified Partner K.T."

The display raised 11,520 for the charity in 2010 and Mr Toole is confident that total will be surpassed this year.

He can hardly believe his hobby has grown into something so huge over the years and is attracting so much attention.

"It's all been surreal," he said. "From the early days with a couple of strings of lights to this.

"I feel really, really special. It's just amazing.

"There are so many miserable people in this country who moan about Christmas lights saying they are vile and tacky, but if everyone put just a few lights up, if every house did that, it would brighten peoples lives up."

LED lights shine on "Word of Life" mural

Last Spring, the popular "Word of Life" mural on the south side of Hesburgh Library was updated with new energy-efficient LED lights, said Paul Kempf, director of Utilities at Notre Dame.

new lighting is part of the $10 million Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) project,Shop our online store for lightingbright lights in a multitude of colors. begun in 2008 to support conservation initiatives, Kempf said.

"[The ECM project] has had two phases … The second phase has been very focused on lighting," Kempf said. "We've basically gone through all of campus with an eye towards replacing incandescent light bulbs … and large-diameter fluorescent light bulbs. We've upgraded almost 80 buildings on campus with new lighting technology."

The mural,Our energy saving ledlightforyou are designed to replace the old fashioned fluorescent fittings. originally illuminated with outdated mercury vapor lighting, also visually benefits from the new lighting provided by LED technology, Kempf said.

"The LEDs give better uniformity than [the mural] had before, as far as how it illuminates the whole mural, and you get a better color rendering," Kempf said, "The LED lighting is more akin to natural lighting and you see truer colors."

Kempf said another ongoing sustainability project involves updating the "sight lights" that illuminate the sidewalks and roads on campus, which also benefit from LED technology.

"The LED also has a great advantage — that it's a light that you can shape and direct much more than you can the older sources … We're lighting the ground instead of lighting the sky and there's less glare … less light pollution," Kempf said.

Energy savings from the use of LED lights also benefits the University financially, Kempf said.

"It has a cost benefit to the University," he said. "It has allowed the University to take the savings we've generated and actually roll it right back into the program and let us keep doing more and more by reinvesting in [the ECM project]. And that's a logical approach to conservation or sustainability,We are professional led panel light,brightcrystall2011 manufacturers and factory in China. to do the things that have an economic payback first."

Heather Christophersen, director of Sustainability at Notre Dame, said she also supports these new energy-efficient transitions.

"The new lights save energy, which causes us to produce less carbon, which is one of our major goals — to reduce the carbon footprint of campus," Christophersen said.

Christophersen said she would like to see other campus icons receive sustainable lighting updates in the near future. We are professional led tube,brightcrystal2011,led bulbs manufacturers and factory in China.

"It would be really cool to change the lighting on the Dome to LED lights to make it, at night, have less of a green color and more true," Christophersen said.

The LED lights for the mural were a donation from Musco Lighting, with whom the University has had a long-time partnership in lighting campus locations, Christophersen said.Welcome to scannerstal1 Online store,We supply led strip, led tube, led strip wholesale etc.

Christophersen said she also hopes the new mural lighting will have an impact that reaches farther than the boundaries of campus.

"I think changing to these more efficient types of lights on such a visible campus landmark that so many people know about and look at, it will help hopefully remind people how they can save energy in their own lives," Christophersen said.

Bridge lights up the crowd with new display

The Harbor Bridge got its 15 minutes of fame Sunday night.AGICO is one of the leading Manufacturers and Suppliers of bestledlighting-01 in China.

And it lit up some people's expectations, too.

More than 3,000 people filled the stands at Whataburger Field to watch the bridge shine during a light show as thousands more lined up along Shoreline Boulevard.

Audiences were treated to a Las Vegas-style colorful display of patterns, motions and words by the $2.2 million, 950-LED light system, which wraps around the bridge. Many bestledlightbulbs have become available as replacements for screw-in incandescent or compact fluorescent light bulbs,

The first time the bridge went from a solid color — as it has been for more than a week — to multicolor, the crowd roared in approval.Princeton Tec bikelight111 lights the way for all your scuba adventures both nigh and day.

Later, as a patriotic tune pumped out of the stadium's speakers, the bridge transformed first from a red, white and blue spectrum to the image of a fluttering flag with stars and stripes, and again onlookers cheered.LEDtronics is a pioneer in the design and manufacture of LEDs, ledbulbs, lamps,

The project is a public-private partnership involving the Texas Department of Transportation, the city of Corpus Christi, the Port of Corpus Christi Authority and American Bank. City and port leaders, along with the state transportation department, will maintain the lighting system for the next 10 years.

The Harbor Bridge, which opened in 1959, had lights installed in 1986 by the Central Business District Association. The lights were turned off in February 1998 after numerous circuit failures and corrosion.

Chris Cisneros, who brought her boyfriend and children to see the show, said the lights give life to a showpiece of the city.

"It's such an iconic piece in our community," she said. "Why not decorate it a little bit?"

Cisneros watched from Whataburger Field because she wanted to see history being made, as rainbow swirls, Christmas patterns and American flags came to life on the Harbor Bridge.

Amy Wright and her son Lee Ramirez, 11, were almost speechless as they watched from a berm area at the stadium.

"The only word I said (the) whole time was 'wow!'" Wright said.

In fiscal crisis, Madrid slashes Christmas light spend

Spain has at least 23 percent unemployment and a large public debt. Should it be wasting a desperately needed 2.6 million euros on holiday lights?

With lights aglow, as they are every year, the debate continues here as to whether Christmas decorations are a light-polluting waste of public money — or if they are necessary cheer that helps usher shoppers out of their warm homes and into stores to boost the economy.

Technicians spent the last month hanging Madrid's Christmas lights. (Spain is an overwhelmingly Catholic country.Browse through our impressive range of r4onsale and buy online now.) Last week, the city finally turned them on. Madrilenos found fewer twinkling street corners, as the city cut back its Christmas decoration spending by about 30 percent.

Barrios like Plaza de Espana, Gran Via and Tirso de Molina, which had festive displays last year, have less or none at all this year. There are actually 600,000 fewer lamps, or about 1.5 million fewer bulbs, than last year.

Henar Aranda, a Madrid-based recruiter, confirmed that she noticed Madrid has fewer lights this year. She says the lights should stay, as people like the lights, even talking about it at work. "I like very much the spirit of Christmas, and lights are expensive, but not too expensive," Aranda says. "We only have one month for Christmas. It's important for children to be happy."

Aranda suggested that a compromise could be to not have the lights turned on as late. Currently, the lights are running from sunset until between 10p.m. and midnight, depending on the day of the week. While stores are usually open until 10, Madrid is a notoriously late city, where, on the weekends and sometimes weekdays, people stay out past sunrise.

Carlos Herranz Dorremochea, president of the Dark Sky Association Against Light Pollution, says that the lights should be turned off as soon as shops close. He advocates for trees to be decorated with large non-lit ornaments, to make an all day and night effort to jump start consumer consumption. Dorremochea wrote a letter to the editor of El Pais, one of Spain's largest newspapers, saying there is so much light pollution in Madrid–and the Western world in general– that Melichior, Casper and Balthasar would never be able to find a star to follow.

The National Association of Lighting Manufacturers argues that these lights are crucial to the promotion of small businesses in an economic crisis and that the city sets a good example by investing in sustainable, environmentally-friendly lighting.

Christmas in Madrid continues to get eco-friendlier. This Christmas expects a 27-percent lower consumption rate than 2010, with the same 230 hours of lighting. The use of LED technologies has increased by 10-percent since last year, making 85 percent of the lights LED, with the other 15 percent "energy-saving lamps." The city council claims this makes it "one hundred percent efficient and sustainable lighting." Since Madrid has rocketing air pollution levels, it is helpful that these measures will prevent the emission of 35 tons of carbon dioxide, as well as save about half a million euros.

But can a price be placed on holiday cheer?

"I prefer that we have Christmas spirit. I don't think that in Madrid the waste is on Christmas," Aranda says. "I think that the problem is when the country wastes the money on a political campaign, but it is not a problem to decorate for Christmas." Spain actually cut the national election cost by about 3 million euros, leaving the perfect amount of money to fund Madrid's Christmas cheer.

Consumers are Finally Getting Greener

Americans have come a long way in their commitment to preserve and protect the environment since a groundbreaking survey from 1990 took the pulse of their green attitudes and behavior. Conventional wisdom holds that increased knowledge about the environment leads to more action and empowerment on the part of Americans.

And certainly, their knowledge has risen. Today, 73 percent say they know a lot or a fair amount about environmental issues and problems, up from 50 percent earlier.

So, what does action look like [PDF]? This basic question led to the pioneer study, The Environment: Public Attitudes and Individual Behavior,Shop online for ledbright-1. Light bulbs, rope light, accessories and decorative lighting. which I was a part of back in 1990. The study, commissioned by SC Johnson and executed by GfK Roper, was the first, large-scale survey to measure both green attitudes and behaviors. We wanted to understand whether -- if equipped with the right tools and knowledge -- it is possible to change consumer behavior, or action, for the greener.

And according to the 20th anniversary study, behavior change is possible.

Compared to 20 years ago, twice as many Americans are taking proactive steps to help the environment. Today, 58 percent of Americans recycle, 29 percent buy green products regularly and 18 percent commute in an environmentally friendly manner. What is so encouraging -- and what we really need to understand -- is that these small, green steps are indeed impactful.

For example, simply recycling one aluminum soda can yields enough energy to power my laptop for five hours or light up my office for 20 hours using a 60-watt energy-saving light bulb. These individual steps are made possible because individuals have a desire to modify their behavior, but also because businesses and governments have taken a leadership role in facilitating these changes by providing the right tools, products and processes.

While progress is being made, we have a way to go. The survey finds that consumers are more interested in the convenience factor rather than the impact a product has on the environment. That is a challenge we all need to overcome -- both individuals and businesses alike.

In fact, consumers do want businesses to go green. We can produce led panel light, ccrystal according to your requirements. Taken together, these changes in consumer attitudes and actions may have extraordinary impact on the environment in the future. Individuals place themselves higher at 38 percent and rank businesses lower at 29 percent when asked who should take the lead in addressing environmental problems and issues.

After all, as we like to say, the customer is always right.Diving torch waterproof diving torch 20 metres low power goodledstriplight. We all have a role to play to protect our earth, and 75 percent of American consumers say they feel good when taking steps to help the environment. That's huge. Through increased environmental knowledge and with the right products and tools, we can all appeal to that sentiment to make smarter choices for a greener lifestyle.

The Math Changes on Bulbs

How many workers does it take to change a light bulb? Not as many as it used to.

And that is what's making the difference in getting companies like Wal-Mart Stores Inc., GNC Corp. and Caesars Entertainment Corp. to shell out for advanced new lights.

Bulbs built around light-emitting diodes—semiconductors that produce bright light when zapped with electricity—last 10 times longer than conventional bulbs, meaning fewer ladders blocking frozen-food aisles or unsightly scaffolds towering in hotel lobbies as workers change blown-out bulbs. With energy savings not yet enough in some cases to cover the higher cost of the new bulbs, it's lower maintenance costs that are getting sales across the finish line.

"If you think about a 20- to 40-foot tall parking lot light pole, you need a bucket truck and electrician to replace those lamps every two years. Now these will last us 10 to 12 years," said Charles Zimmerman, Wal-Mart's vice president for international design and construction.See our ledonsale Lighting displays for a sample of strip lighting applications. "The big payback number is on the maintenance."

Consumers can get by using compact fluorescent bulbs in their lamps.LEDtronics is a pioneer in the design and manufacture of LEDs, ledbulbs, lamps, But for specialized commercial applications like refrigeration, parking lots and lobby lighting, the answer is LED, some businesses say.

LED bulbs cost as much as 20 times more than their conventional counterparts. Energy savings are an important part of the economics. Lighting can account for a third of a big store's energy costs,Well, we have the answer: scannerstal! and LED bulbs can cut lighting bills by three-quarters.

A 2009 case study by the U.S. Department of Energy on a Wal-Mart parking lot in Leavenworth, Kan., however,Welcome to scannerstal1 Online store,We supply led strip, led tube, led strip wholesale etc. shows energy savings alone may not justify the cost.

The DOE compared LED lamps to a typical parking-lot lights and found the cost of the LED lamps plus energy bills over 10 years were higher than for the older bulbs.

That balance will change as the cost of LED bulbs comes down—they've already fallen 30% since 2009—but for now it's lower maintenance expenses that are allowing companies to recoup the upfront costs in less than three years, a key threshold for bean counters.

"Instead of replacing a bulb seven times a year, now you're talking about not touching a bulb for four or five years," said Eric Dominguez, Caesars Entertainment's director of energy services. Workers then can be shifted onto other tasks, Mr.We stock a range of ledbright001 batteries from Enix Energies and chargers from Mascot for all kinds of different bike light applications. Dominguez says.

Changing light bulbs has become more complicated than the "How many..." jokes imply, store owners say, particularly inside freezers and signs, which can require technicians. At the 33-story Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco, changing a light bulb can cost about $50. Factoring in the long life of the bulbs, the hotel made the upfront costs of switching to LEDs work, said Harry Hobbs, the hotel's director of engineering.

"It allows me to be more efficient with the use of that labor," Mr. Hobbs said.

LEDs have evolved from their start as the tiny indicator lights on devices like coffeemakers to illuminating cellphone screens and billboards in Times Square. Wider use in general lighting for homes and businesses has been held back by high prices, poor light quality and bad colors.

That's starting to change. LED prices are falling at a time when businesses and municipalities are in the market for cost-cutting technology amid tight budgets and rising outlays on energy. The DOE predicts LED bulb prices will drop by around 30% a year until 2015, meaning by the end of the decade such bulbs will cost a tenth of what they did last year.

With help from chambers of commerce, local businesses go green

Chambers of commerce have long been known for furthering the interests of local businesses. Now,AGICO is one of the leading Manufacturers and Suppliers of shinebrighting in China. more consumers want an economy that is steering toward sustainability, too, and that's made Merced's own chamber a champion of green business practices.

The Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce launched a Green Team this past summer. The team of local business people is quickly getting into small mom and pop stores and large companies to call attention to ways they go green and save money in the process.

"Environmental stewardship is an added positive but in reality businesses aren't going to do anything unless it positively affects their bottom line," said Adam Cox, communications and public relations representative for the chamber.

The Green Team works on two levels. There is a public education component, focused on communicating the different ways to be more environmentally friendly, and a task force, called the REACON team, which goes out to business sites and assesses their recycling, energy and conservation and air pollution mitigation efforts.Green Supply offers Philips goodledbul, LED home lighting, LED string lights,

The REACON assessment is voluntary, and at the end of the visit, the business is left with a checklist of suggestions – from what kind of bulbs to use to what types of practices reduce paper waste. Business decide which changes they want to make, but it is the chamber's hope that they move forward to receive a Green Sustainable Business Certification.

"What those members get out of it is the hope that if your business is interested in solar that you would call our solar guy but we don't leave anything more than a business card," he said.

Cox said that since July, about 20 county businesses have taken them up on a REACON visit. We can produce crystalll, led tube, led downlight according to your ... Most of the businesses that Cox visited himself had already been practicing sustainability in one form or another.

A few businesses had been recycling paper, no small feat, Cox said, because there is no commercial recycling. Others had taken advantage of renovations to make their facilities more eco-friendly, as was the case with Label Technology Inc., a label and packaging company located in Merced.

Dale Reschenberg, vice president of manufacturing of Label Technology, said their sustainability efforts truly started about a year and a half ago, when they had to upgrade their lights and decided it would be a good opportunity to look into saving energy.

"The more you do, the more you find out and the more you want to do," he said. "You never truly finish. You start thinking about it, how to defray costs and help the environment."

Since then Label Technology has become more sustainable. The company now mixes ink using computers to reduce error and waste, upgraded its HVAC system to web base control of the manufacturing and offices facilities heating and cooling. They have also installed motion controlled low energy lighting, used LED lighting where possible, expanded its paper-recycling program, worked with material vendors to promote eco-friendly materials and packaging and have invested in a satellite irrigation system that waters landscaping depending on the weather forecast.

Plant engineering and facilities manager Albert Gabriel said that although the company already had a commitment to sustainability, he and his colleagues were happy to participate in the Green Team to become more informed about new vendors and the different solutions and opportunities available in the field.Browse through our impressive range of r4onsale and buy online now.

Bev Jorgensen, vice president of corporate and member relations for the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, said that the chamber's board of directors decided to start a sustainability committee in 2007. She said back then it was still a new philosophy but to everyone's surprise, it quickly took off.

Ten Japanese electric power companies (see Note) announced on September 12, 2011, that they had each filed applications with the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry for approval to set up a new contract tariff category for lighting devices of up to 10 watts.

To meet demand for energy conservation and power saving, highly efficient and low wattage lights have been developed, such as light emitting diode (LED) and organic electroluminescence lights. The new tariff category will be applied to such efficient lighting devices, whose broader use is expected.

Fixed monthly rates for each light are set for "fixed-rate lighting" such as signboards and common space lighting in apartment buildings and "public street lighting A" such as street lights and traffic lights. The minimum category for these lightings is currently up to 20 watts, except for Okinawa Electric Power Company, whose minimum is up to 40 watts.

Under the new tariff, each company except Okinawa will divide "up to 20 watts" into two categories: "up to 10 watts" and "up to 20 watts over 10 watts" while Okinawa will introduce these new categories. The rate for "up to 10 watts" will be set lower than before, while the other rates will remain the same.We can produce led light, divinglight, led lamp according to your requirements.

In September 2011, Sony Corp., a major electronics manufacturer, began sales of the ESSP-2000, a business-use lithium-ion battery. During blackouts, the battery will operate as a backup power supply for personal computers, servers, network devices, thermoelectric cooler-warmers and other devices. It can also be used for peak shift, as it enables electricity stored during the nighttime to be used in the daytime.

The ESSP-2000 uses an olivine-type lithium-ion phosphate storage battery unit. Thus, connecting the ESSP-2000 to a 100 V outlet enables the battery to store a maximum of 2.4 kWh of electricity. Its fast-charging capability allows the battery to reach a 95% charge in two hours. When charged and discharged daily,We are professional led tube,brightcrystal2011,led bulbs manufacturers and factory in China. the ESSP-2000 has an expected life of at least 10 years.

The battery system operates in three modes. First, in the uninterrupted power supply (UPS) mode, the storage battery is charged while electricity is supplied to its connected devices such as personal computers, servers and other devices and when the power is interrupted, devices can continue to be used without fluctuations. Second, in the timed charge and discharge mode, times can be set for charging and discharging using the timer, which enables charging at night time and discharging in the day to reduce power consumption during peak hours.
