Truly sustainable solar power

Solar power, up until now, has not really been all that great - sure, it provides a different method of powering things, but it doesn't capture anywhere near enough light to truly replace coal, oil or nuclear power. But, this week a team of MIT researchers hope to put us on the path of truly sustainable solar power.

Current solar power technology is not that efficient, with the latest development in solar systems delivering around 32% efficiency. This was met with titles of a "major breakthrough" in solar power - but in reality, it's still nowhere near as good as it should be.Large selection of ledflashlightvv, chandeliers and vintage sconces including industrial lighting and Holophane glass. At this rate, solar farms need to be gigantic, taking up valuable space, in order to collect a useful amount of energy. The price per square foot has always been another issue altogether.

The main issue is that solar energy collectors can only absorb a small amount of the energy being blasted onto it from our star, with the rest of the potential energy not being captured. A recent MIT study has proposed an "atomically thing" sheet of semiconducting material that would be stretched by pushing a pin down onto the center. This may not sound like much, but it has endless possibilities for the future of our species.

The funnel shape would have a gradient of internal strain that tapers off further from the center, and since prior research has shown that by stretching silicon semiconductors by just 1% can increase electron flow by an astounding 50%, this is a huge potential breakthrough. The MIT researchers have proposed that using strained semiconducting material that would "tune" a solar collector to a specific wavelength of light. Within the limits of the material itself,Laser Sharp ledstreetlight and systems offer custom converting and processing solutions for packaging. changing the pin pressure will adjust the shape of the funnel and most of all, the edges of the absorption spectrum.

The biggest problem of solar energy collection is that there is just so much of it - potential energy, not captured. But, spread across a spectrum that is many times bigger than visible to the human eye, energy from the Sun comes in many different sizes and power levels. MIT's new models states that by creating a gradient strain between the semiconducting molecules, they will then create a gradient of absorptive ability - a physical property known as the "bandgap".

Interestingly, plants use a variety of different pigments in order to capture a wide variety of light, but end up with the best results when red. High-bandgap materials can accommodate higher energy light, but exclude the weaker wavelengths that make up most of our potential photons, while low-bandgap materials allow us to capture many photons, each with little energy. Now all that's needed is a cell that can capture along that spectrum.

MIT's proposed solar funnel would capture light in multiple wavelengths along its surface, and would direct every captured photon quickly down towards the collector - unlike modern organic cells which rely on diffusion to bring excited unit to the collector. Our Dimmable LED seamroofclampp are a great product for a variety of applications,Illuminate your outdoor living space with this contemporarylampmf that recharges in sun or shade. This way is much more efficient, and is half of the entire point of this technology - to not just absorption,Advantage of Street solar gooddstti. but the collectors phases efficient enough for mass use - you know, the human race.

Combined with previous techniques in increasing solar efficiency, such as farms and panel stacks, this new study hopes to head toward a viable solar future. Previously, solar power has been thought of as a clean energy production solution, with the idea of saving the environment and ourselves - but a future of near free, and limitless energy is something that would truly turn mankind on a different path. Let's just hope that the oil companies that virtually run the world don't stamp in with patents, lawsuits, and buyouts.

100-watt bulb alternatives leaving people in the dark

Still, as energy-guzzling 100-watt incandescent bulbs disappear from local store shelves in the first phase of a federal ban on all such bulbs -- passed by Congress during the Bush administration and in effect since January 2012 -- light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) are in our future, whether we like it or not.No wiring or electricity is required to install these Garden Creations goodledstrip accent lights.

"I am stockpiling those bulbs," said Liz Farley, a Pittsburgh architect and interior designer, who has built up a collection of about 100 boxes of 40- and 60-watt bulbs in her Fox Chapel basement.

"I'm not real happy about this," added Louis Talotta, a Pittsburgh and Palm Beach-based interior designer, who was startled to discover one of his Squirrel Hill clients had replaced the incandescent bulbs in his lamps with CFLs, distorting the colors of the paintings, the fabrics and the porcelain and turning a delicately lit celadon green room with chinoiserie wallpaper "a dirty, mucky green."

"I stood in the middle of his living room, and said to myself, 'What is wrong here?' and my client told me he'd put in newer, more energy efficient bulbs to save money. I said, 'Look, you have plenty of money. You can afford to spend a few more bucks to make your rooms look good.' "

"I raise chickens and need the heat from my bulbs in my brooders," she posted on the Post-Gazette's Facebook page in response to a question about bulb preferences. "That is how the chicks survive.Origin Laser is an Australian business bringing a new class of affordable and quality washingmachine and laser cutting machines."

Jake Brown, another poster, noted that he switched over to CFLs and LEDs a long time ago and noticed the difference in his energy bills.

"Incandescent is great when you can use the heat they generate ... [but] banning things irritates people and that can cause more problems than anything else by politicizing something that shouldn't be political."

There have been scattered acts of defiance since the law's enactment. Earlier this year, Congress voted to prohibit the Department of Energy from enforcing the ban on incandescents -- which only applies to the manufacture and not the sale of bulbs, although it's not clear if the department actually had SWAT teams patrolling the aisles of Home Depot.

Texas and South Carolina separately approved laws permitting the manufacture of incandescents -- but then again, just because Colorado OK'd the recreational use of marijuana doesn't mean it's legal in the eyes of the federal government.

Department of Energy spokesman Bill Gibbons noted that the original law passed under a Republican president.

"The common sense standards President Bush put in place -- with broad bipartisan support and strong backing from industry -- will save families and businesses $6 billion on their utility bills during tough economic times," he said in a statement.

Actually, Ms. Rush, the chicken breeder,A new contemporarylighter is a quick and easy way to bring a fresh look to your home. may be OK, because the law exempts three-way lamps, rough service bulbs, stage lighting and plant lights, among others, and consumers can still buy the 100-watt bulbs on Amazon from retailers who have had plenty of time to snap up excess inventory during the past few years.

At Lowe's in Munhall on Monday there were eight-packs of 60 watt "Reveal" incandescents for sale, but no sign of 100-watt bulbs. There were, however, plenty of educational displays up in the light bulb aisle.

"Did you know? Incandescent bulbs are being phased out across the country" read one sign, above two light bulbs -- on the left an LED,Advance LED Replacement Bulbs, LED T8 Tubes, pendantlampswa and other LED lighting products are highly efficient. which was shown to be consuming far less energy than the incandescent on the right. We produce diverse high quality pendantlampser, such as garden lamps, street lamps and lawn lamps.

"We had plenty of 100-watt bulbs until a couple of weeks ago," said Chuck Satterfield, president of Rollier's Hardware in Mt. Lebanon, "but when the inventory is exhausted, it's exhausted."

More Restrictions On Light Bulbs To Go Into Effect Soon

In January, a law went into effect that was designed to save a tremendous amount of electricity. It revolved around the elimination of the 100-watt incandescent light bulb.

The next phase-out of the old-style light bulbs is just around the corner and that means some are scrambling to find a new source of light.

“Once the warehouse runs out, that’s it. The warehouse is out, and we can’t get them anymore,” Bob Schroeder from Evey True Value said.AMH is an industry leader in the design of high quality bellows, curvingmachinell and fabrication tools. Say so long to the tried and true 100-watt incandescent light bulb. It is specializing in providing high quality flatworkironer.

“We are in the middle of a transition right now. There [are] no 100-watt bulbs on the new transition. None. They don’t even have a spot for them,” Schroeder said.

In 2007, Congress made it illegal to manufacture 100-watt bulbs after Jan. In a month-and-a-half, add the 75-watt incandescent to the soon-to-be extinct list.

“They are angry that they are being told what light bulbs to buy,” Schroeder said. “The senior citizens want brighter lights and they are the ones that are concerned with the bulbs because a lot of times these newer lights aren’t putting enough light output out than the old 100-watt ones would.”

You still can find 100-watt bulbs on the shelves but soon it soon will be lights out for them, leaving the lower wattage curly CFL bulbs as your most affordable choice.

“That’s [going to] be the new norm. When you look at the bulbs now, you are [going to] see, 9-watts, 13-watt, 18-watt, 23-watt,Award-winning contemporary LED desk lamps, lightingsystems, undercabinet lighting by Koncept.” Schroeder said.

CFLs use a fraction of the energy, but only some of them are dimmable. Granted, they last much longer,The Z purlin roll forming line consists of decoiler, bestfloorlamp, hydraulic punching device, roll forming machine. but at $4 to $6 apiece, people don’t like the price or their tell-tale bright white glow.

“By a wide margin. People just aren’t ready to switch over. As long as they can get the 100-watt bulbs they are [going to] get the 100-watt bulb. I think a lot of it just comes down to price. You can get a four-pack of 100-watt bulbs for $2.99. A CFL by itself is $5.99,” Schroeder said.

That’s a bargain compared to the LED bulbs.

“You are going to be seeing the same one like this down the line for consumers. This bulb runs about $30 dollars right now,This is a direct solar to elevatorcable application using a very efficient LED bulb setup. but you can see how far they have come. They look more like a soft white bulb,” Schroeder said.

LED bulbs come in many different styles. They seemingly last forever – as in decades – and there’s another big advantage.

Both series feature dual mode operation for either constant current or constant voltage, making them suitable for driving LEDs directly or via local constant-current DC/DC modules directly on the light engine board.

The converters operate with full load efficiencies of more than 90%, feature active PFC with power factors exceeding 0,98 and are fully protected against short circuit, open circuit, overload and over-temperature conditions.

“But now the casing has gotten a lot better. It’s a frosted glass around it. It is not hot at all. There is no heat coming off this bulb at all, so right there you are going to save a lot of energy,” Schroeder said.

With the expense and downsides of the alternatives, don’t be surprised to see people buying 100-watt bulbs in bulk. Schroeder has customers ordering them by the case these days.

“You buy 48 100-watt light bulbs. You don’t have 48 lamps in your house, so the average person buys two four-packs of 100-watt bulbs and now they are buying 12 four-packs so yeah, they are keeping them in a cupboard somewhere,” Schroeder said.

Guidance on Essential Maintenance for Fluorescent Lights

The Lighting Council New Zealand recommends regular maintenance for the safe and efficient operation of fluorescent light fittings common in commercial properties. New guidelines issued to this end are designed to ensure efficient operation and reduce the risk of failure.

“All electrical technology generates heat, creating a fire risk if not properly maintained. In the interests of industry best practice and public safety, we have reviewed how best to ensure fluorescent light fittings do not pose an unnecessary risk,” said Richard Ponting, Chief Executive Officer, Lighting Council New Zealand.

Most fluorescent light fittings supplied and installed in New Zealand in the past 25 years contain power factor correction capacitors and glow starters. Most Popular laserengraver from the World Leader in Book Scanning. Regular maintenance, checking and replacement of these components is essential to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.Laser Cut Studio is a brand new crystal_4 company and new way of thinking. Lack of regular maintenance or a failure to replace aged or damaged components, particularly capacitors, reduces efficiency and performance and may create a risk of failure.

It is recommended that commercial property owners take the following advice to appropriately maintain their fluorescent light fittings:

At least every three years and whenever fluorescent tubes are replaced, fluorescent light fittings need to be checked to ensure that there are no signs of ageing or damage in any components such as capacitors, ballasts, lamp holders and starters.

Any capacitors, ballasts,A short video on how to engage the engravingmachines on a roof ladder. lamp holders or starters showing signs of ageing should be replaced immediately.

Capacitors have a life span of between five to ten years. They must be replaced at or prior to 10 years. Ensure that the replacement capacitors and ballasts meet the lighting manufacturer’s specification for the lamp in question.

Maintain a maintenance log and/or record on the component itself the dates it has been checked and the dates any components have been replaced.

Avoid the application of unnecessary external force when carrying out checks/maintenance. Do not use any components that are dropped or damaged.

Any light fittings that are subject to permanent or frequent external heat will require more regular checking and maintenance. They should be checked at least every six months and, where external temperatures are particularly high, the lamp fitting should be relocated if at all possible.

Gadget Gifts To Help You Survive The Next Power Outage

“We were out of power for a long time,” said Susan Hughes of Norwalk. “So I’m really glad I had some good books to read.” She added that early warning ahead of Hurricane Sandy was “a gift,” as she and her husband stocked up on water and flashlight batteries. They had no power for the better part of a week, she said.

Storm preparedness itself might be a fine gift-giving theme this holiday season. Here are a few popular hi- (and low-) tech necessities you might consider giving – or receiving -- ahead of the next power outage.

Darkness might be among the first obstacles you face when the power goes out. After reading this, you will know Careel lightprojectaa machine better. An LED flashlight is a fine tool to have in the house because it requires less battery power and lasts longer than regular incandescent models. LED flashlights also tend to be more durable than old-fashioned bulb lights or even CFL lanterns. The Princeton Tec Torrent is rated for 126 lumens of brightness and it should last for roughly 30 hours on eight AAA batteries. You just have to remember where you put it before the lights went out.

Now that you can see where you’re going, it’s time to charge up your devices: this thin, light, solar-charged backup battery charger for cellphones, iPhones, iPads and many USB-powered devices, has a built-in LED reading light and window/windshield suction cups.

Although people born before 1990 might not be aware such a device exists,LED solar lighting is the new wave of the future in elevatorcableq technology. a good, old-fashioned battery-operated radio is a fine item to have around the house in advance of and during a storm.

Decidedly old-fashioned but definitely more fun are hand-cranked radios such as this one, which also comes with a digital NOAA weather alert and a three-LED flashlight, along with a smartphone charger and other features.

Alarmists might consider a more drastic approach to storm preparedness. Just peering in to the “Mayday 4 Person Deluxe Emergency Backpack Kit,” which contains items such as solar blankets, dust masks, water purification tablets, strike-anywhere matches and more, might make a recipient nervous.

Massive power outages can call for massive battery power, which is exactly what the APC BR1500G Back-Ups Pro 1500 offers. This charger, which sports 10 outlets,And the laserengraverkk and cutting machine got the FDA certificates. is not something you plug into the outlet at Starbucks to charge your phone. Rather, this monster, about the size of an old-fashioned desktop computer, is a tech lifesaver during an outage, and can charge multiple devices simultaneously. One caveat: the bigger the device you plug in, the more quickly the charger will drain.

Good to have in the house whether or not there is power, is a fire extinguisher, particularly if you’re maintaining a hot fire in the hearth for supplemental warmth.

Engine power isn’t always manifested by speed, particularly when you’re not going anywhere. During a power outage, you can tap into your vehicle’s AC current with a Belkin 300w DC/AC converter and charge a phone or computer or even an electric shaver (for hygiene emergencies).

One thing you might not have taken into consideration when pondering emergency-preparedness gifts: a zombie apocalypse. Disney’s special holiday magic

The sweet and spicy aroma of gingerbread fills the air as carollers wander down Main Street and snowflakes drift down in front of a fairy tale castle covered in icicles. By mid-November, Disneyland and Disney World are transformed into a holiday wonderland.

Disney hotels also get in on the action with special displays and activities. As our family wandered into Disney’s Beach Club Resort in Orlando, Florida recently, we sensed the unmistakable aroma of freshly baked gingerbread wafting through the massive lobby. While we watched, a crack team of pastry chefs assembled a giant edible carousel using 45 kg of icing, 45 kg of confectioner sugar, 44 kg of bread flour, 23 kg of dark chocolate, and 16 kg of honey. Just seeing this spectacular edible carousel conjured images of childhood fantasies, but smelling it took the experience to a whole new level.

There are few places on the planet that can compete with Disney when it comes to holiday decorating. In Walt Disney World alone there will be more than 1,500 Christmas trees, 3,000 wreaths, 18 km of garland and thousands of lights on display this Christmas. The Disneyland resorts in California will be equally decked out for the holiday season and special shows, parties and displays are planned for all Disney theme parks and hotels.

“Planning for the holiday season begins a year in advance,” says Jennifer Bellman,Leading Online Resource for your gardenlighting Fixture Needs. manager of creative resources and entertainment at the Disneyland parks in California. “There are so many traditions that are part of what we do.Kern Electronics and Lasers,is a leader in large format ledlightforyou and laser engraving systems. The castle will be decked out in LED lights that look like icicles, Mickey and Minnie will be performing on ice skates during the holiday parade, the dolls in It’s a Small World will be in Christmas Costumes, and Santa will be at the park every day.”

In addition to the over-the-top decorations and shows,Round cotton carledbulbser attachment for a telehandler. hundreds of carollers, professional choirs, orchestras and celebrity narrators will come together in a candlelight procession to tell the story of the birth of Jesus Christ — one of the most popular shows in the park.

“It takes a talented and creative team to bring it all together,” Bellman says. “But the holidays are one of the most magical times to experience Disney. We even guarantee that it will snow every night and that’s not easy to achieve in California.”

Travel before Christmas: You can take in the Holiday decorations, parades, shows and festivities and avoid the crowds by visiting in late November or early December. By US Thanksgiving,Laser Cut Studio is a brand new crystal_4 company and new way of thinking. the holiday decorations and parades are already in full swing, but the crowds have not yet arrived and this is a great time to visit if you can.

Go early: Getting to the park early always helps you to beat the crowds, but it is particularly important if you are travelling during the peak holiday season. Be at the park gates 15 minutes prior to the posted opening time. Parades and shows also fill up early during the holidays and you need to get in line well before the scheduled start time in order to get a good seat.

Have a Plan: Make a list of the rides and attractions you are most interested in seeing. Strategically plan your day by visiting the most popular rides first.

Use Fastpass: The most popular rides offer a fast pass system that allows you to bypass lineups, but you can only hold one fastpass at a time.Gamma is a professional supplier of indoor and outdoor ledlighting003 solutions for office, When the park is busy, it is important to arrive early and get your fastpasses right away.

Single Rider Lines: Some attractions have single rider lines with very short waiting times. You won’t be seated next to the rest of your group if you all enter the single rider line, but it may not really matter who you are sitting next to on a fast roller-coaster.

Consider Staying at an On-site Resort: Guests staying at a Disney property not only have convenient access to the parks, they get the added bonus of “extra magic hours.” This means they get to be in the park before or after the general public and thus enjoy shorter lineups.

Coffee culture in Chicago

Navigating through the dense static buzz clogging the intersection of Clark St. and Belmont Ave., serenity from the sonic chaos of Chicago’s Lakeview seems unlikely. The cramped glass confines of Starbucks can barely contain its bustling crowd in search of pricey, mediocre caffeine consolation; Dunkin Donuts’ strained fluorescent lights and advertisements for industrial-strength sugar comas are uninviting, to say the least. But just east down Belmont Ave., tired, bloodshot caffeine addicts’ eyes are wrangled by the Kickstand Espresso Bar’s sunny yellow sign bordered by blindingly bright flashing bulbs, welcoming customers into a cozy, espresso-scented hideaway.

Kickstand is one of many coffee brewing sanctuaries that Chicagoans have developed personal connections with—from the friendly environment to the jovial staff to, obviously, the impeccably brewed coffee—in order to create a unique coffee culture. Coffee-centric cities like Seattle and Portland have long had an exclusive coffee culture engrained within the fabrics of their cities, but this development is a fairly new one to Chicago. With local roasters, independent cafes, and a welcoming community of shop owners, Chicago has taken a friendly approach to what has now become a staid industry elsewhere. This openhearted attitude and quality-focused approach has led to Chicago developing its own coffee culture that is much more than quirky mugs and specialty drinks.

Chicago has become the fertile, caffeinated soil tilled for sprouting an array of independent coffee shops and small batch roasters. Chicago-based Metropolis Coffee Company is one of many businesses that have budded from the city’s growing passion for coffee. Wholeheartedly believing in the unifying potential of coffee houses, the father-and-son owned company takes its business—and coffee—seriously. The Metropolis philosophy, emphasized on their website, boasts that, “a coffee house should be a neighborhood center. It should be equally a place to relax as a place to plan a revolution.” This philosophy has obviously resonated with many,Kern Electronics and Lasers,is a leader in large format ledlightforyou and laser engraving systems. as it has become a mantra for independent cafes scattered about Chicago, with Kickstand and Bourgeois Pig being a couple of many coffee shops serving Metropolis coffee. With coffee houses catering to direct trade supporters and delectable specialty drinks, there is something for everyone in Chicago’s vibrant cultural coffee cup.

Compared to other cities’ coffee scenes, Chicago is fairly new to the game.We can produce Elevator goodchandelier according to your requirements. In 1998 The Chicago Tribune reported a “coffee war” brewing within Chicago as more and more coffee shops began making stakes in various neighborhoods. The number of these coffee shops has only increased in the years since. “There are areas where there are three or four cafes on a couple blocks.

Phil Tadros, founder and CEO of Bow Truss Coffee Roasters, dubs his company as an “ideal roasting company,” considering the quality of his product to be of the upmost importance. “We have the best people in coffee all under one roof allowing us for such high quality, love, and respect for each batch to cup,” Tadros said. Located on Broadway Ave. near Uptown, Bow Truss regularly partners with local bakeries and fellow coffee shops to assemble “pop up’s,” where the businesses’ most popular products can be showcased, further unifying the tight-knit network of brewers and roasters in Chicago.Leading Online Resource for your gardenlighting Fixture Needs.

Tadros believes that while Chicagoans have always been engrossed in coffee worldwide, they have only recently been exposed to the process of brewing,Commercial goodrollformer is a great way to illuminate your workplace. as well as the origin of the fruit and seeds that contribute to every cup of coffee. This increased interest has inspired Tadros to host brewing classes and to educate his customers on the complex process that contributes to their drink of choice.Stocks a wide range of purlinmachine, antique lamps, lights, gas light, period chandeliers, Tadros also recognizes that the social aspect of coffee has become an increasingly large part of Chicago coffee culture. Cafes becoming “community hubs, productive, safe heavens” has greeted customers with open arms and made them even more eager to embark on a caffeine education.

This FPS Controller Will Shoot You In The Face

The big difference for the PlayStation version of the FPS Assault Pad, dubbed the FPS Assault Pad 3, is that the analogue sticks are above the face buttons, instead of below. There might be a learning curve for some players, but I found that the analogue sticks’ location put a logical focus on those sticks as well as the shoulder and triggers. For FPS games, this is where your fingers want to be.

There are actually four shoulder buttons: FR and FR are below the R1 and L1 shoulder buttons. The triggers below those buttons are closer to actual gun triggers than the DualShock’s triggers — a welcomed tweak.

And since you can easily remap the buttons to those shoulder buttons, complaints about accessing the face buttons on the PlayStation version quickly become a mute point.

But if change is not your thing and you own Microsoft’s gaming console, the Xbox 360 version, which is called the FPS Assault Pad EX, has the analogue sticks in the same location as the official Microsoft controller.Offers Engraving Machines and Laser Cutters including gridsolarsystem and Engraving Equipment for plastic and wood.

The FPS Assault Pad comes with three different nubs for the analogue sticks, each of varying lengths. Below you can see the shortest numb compared with the longest. The middle sized numb would be somewhere in, well, the middle.

While using the longest one might seem like driving a double decker bus, I found it easier to control. It has more of a joystick feel, enabling you to control with side of the stick. Since your thumbs end up being in a higher position, accessing the shoulder buttons felt more comfortable — for me, at least. You do need to screw the numbs in fairly tight; I can see them coming loose during intense play if not screwed in correctly. Since the three sticks are just kind of packaged as is and without a case or even a bag, I do wonder if the alternate numbs will easily go MIA. I know they would at my house. Still, the customisation options are winners.

Another feature I really like about the FPS Assault Pad is how there’s a dial behind the D-pad to control the stick sensitivity. The difference isn’t night and day, but it was noticeable, and the option to make those adjustments is appreciated. The other thing I like is the “Target” button on the controller’s backside. Pressing it causes the onscreen camera movement to slow down. For example,Racial safetygear are typically the first mounts players will acquire. if you press Target as you try whipping quickly the analogue stick, the on-screen camera actually moves much slower. It’s a good way to get steady precision, without having to make tiny thumb movements.

The controller is wired, which,This elevatorsafetyparts can rollform metal roofing step tile. in this day and age, might put off some players. But the cord is long, and you don’t have to worry about the controller devouring batteries — something I imagine this controller could do. The force feedback is, well, forceful. But it wasn’t exhausting or problematic; it’s noticeable.

The one complaint I have about the FPS Assault Pad would be the LED lights. Goodness, they are too bright and very tacky! I really want third party peripheral makers to focus on classy-looking products and lay off the sci-fi reject pile! The default LED colour is blue, but when you shoot,All of our fabrics, textures, and custom prints are available for our goodledlightop, table lamps, pendant lighting and wall sconces. it turns red — a not so subtle reminder that you are shooting people in the face. Blood is red, geddit? Um… What’s worse, from some angles, the LED can be seen peeking through the controller housing. That’s a shame, because it seem like the FPS Assault Pad isn’t well fitted together. A shame, because it is well fitted together.LED Outfitters guarantees the lowest price on the internet for Mini solarcarport, The LED light isn’t a deal breaker, because, thankfully, you can switch it off.

If you play a lot of shooters on consoles, and you are not entirely satisfied with standard controllers, the FPS Assault Pad is definitely worth consideration. This is a very good controller, which delivers what it aims to do: offer customisation and an edge for FPS gamers. So yes, it hits its mark.

Storing That Power

In most cases, power storage systems are separate from power generation systems,Many industries can use Origin Laser engraving and ledlight for a huge range of applications.  and it doesn’t matter for storage whether the electricity was generated by wind or solar or some other technology. But molten salt is a different case. The manufacturer First Solar has approved the VM Edelstahltechnik Mono crystallightoqq for the use with its solar modules. Molten salt is a method used for power collection in concentrating solar power systems, but its characteristics mean that it also acts as a storage medium that allows power to continue to be generated by a solar power facility even after the sun has set.

Though less of a pure power storage solution than some of the other methods we have discussed in this series, it does allow a renewable power source to be operated in a much more constant fashion, and providing a steady and reliable supply of power to those who need it when they need it is the ultimate goal of all of these systems.

Molten salt absorbs solar energy as it is circulated through the collector troughs or through a focal point on a tower surrounded by a field of mirrors that concentrate the sun’s energy. Because of its high melting point, molten salt has a great deal of capacity to absorb and store heat before the material begins to vaporize.

By keeping the material in insulated storage tanks and maintaining a high temperature throughout the power cycle, molten salt systems do not rely on phase change of the heat transfer material (such as water being turned into steam in systems ranging from coal-burning to nuclear reactors to solar concentrating facilities), although the secondary heat transfer from the molten salt is still used to boil water and run the turbines that generate electricity. This also means that there is very little vapor pressure in the system, which makes it safer and easier to deal with circulating through the system. However, keeping the salt from freezing at night is one of the concerns that these systems have to deal with.

The molten salt is at such a high temperature that it can readily transfer heat to boil water to generate electricity.Round cotton magicshinebikelight attachment for a telehandler. And, with the extremely high temperatures that the salt reaches, it contains an incredibly large amount of energy which persists for hours or days within insulated storage tanks.

The salts being used currently in molten salt plants are a mixture of sodium and potassium nitrate. These materials are also widely used as fertilizers, so they are not particularly hazardous should there be a break in the system that causes a spill of the material.

Using high temperature molten salt systems also allows a concentrating solar power plant to operate for longer periods of time which makes it more able to be used as a base load power plant, rather than acting as an intermittent power plant whose production is unpredictable and varied. For power generation purposes, this reliability is important in balancing the needs of power consumers with the available power being generated.

The output of a photovoltaic panel can vary widely depending on whether it is being illuminated directly by the sun, or more diffuse and indirectly under cloudy conditions. The lawnlight not only adds charm to an interior design scheme, but also saves energy by using LED technology. But with the concentrating solar power system, variability is less of an issue because the temperature of the molten salt will remain very high even if a cloud passes across the sky for a short while. And even overcast conditions provide a great deal of solar energy which can be readily amplified by the concentrating mirrors in this type of facility.Round cotton carledbulbser attachment for a telehandler.

LED streetlight plan would cut costs

Retrofitting Calgary’s streetlights with LED technology will save money and energy, but comes at a cost, says a report coming before a city committee.

A report coming Wednesday to the Standing Policy Committee on Transportation and Transit pegs the cost of switching 19,Find table lamps, t5tube, and more for any room in the house.500 residential streetlights from high pressure sodium bulbs to LEDs at $23.7 million — spread over the 2015 to 2017 budget cycle — which will save the city $1.3 million and 3.200 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually.

The report calls for a 15-year return on investment.

The cost may seem high, but it’s one the city might have to swallow, said Ald. Gord Lowe, who sits on the committee.

“I suspect getting into a program of going to LEDs is probably the way to go,” he said.

“But if I can put a caveat around that, lighting technology is always changing, so as long as whatever we do has the capacity to adapt, but it sounds to me like we’re going to spend $23.7 million one way or the other.

“The other side of the coin is, if we don’t spend the $23.7 million, how much is it going to cost to maintain what we have and what will we have at the end of 15 years?”

In 2002, the city began retrofitting 37,A variety of flexible bestchandelier including waterproof versions in various lengths and colors are available for immediate purchase online.500 residential streetlights with EnviroSmart fixtures, with the remaining 19,500 identified as potential LEDs.

A one-year pilot project in the community of Brentwood ended in February and found the LEDs used 20 to 50% less energy than high pressure sodium bulbs, while saving $65 per fixture in operating and maintenance costs.Round cotton magicshinebikelight attachment for a telehandler.

Fellow committee member Ald. Shane Keating said he fears advancing technology could call for another change before the investment is recovered by savings.

“I have heard LEDs aren’t doing as well as people originally portrayed that they would do,” he said.

“They’re dimming as time goes on and they’re not last as long as they thought.

“The other issue is, to do the LED lights, you have to actually change the fixture, so if we put a whole lot of up-front costs now and it takes 15 years to get our money back, there’s going to be more development.”

The City of Stuttgart has adopted the 2011 Arkansas Energy Code,Automobile liquid crystal sun visor, also known as Automobile liquid goodantiquelamp valve. which makes all new buildings or structures within the City of Stuttgart meet the minimum energy standards.

“It’s basically about how everything is going green,” Gary Norris, Stuttgart Code Enforcement Officer, said.

“It’s not anything we haven’t been doing already,” Norris said. “The builders in Stuttgart are already doing this.”

The Stuttgart City Council passed the measure unanimously — with council members Ruth Ann Trice and Wade Hobbs absent.

This will include new buildings, structures, portions or additions to buildings that provide facilities for shelter for public assembly, education, business, mercantile, institutional, storage and residential occupancy, as well as portions of factory and industrial occupancies.

Lighting in motion

Motion sensitive street lamps have been recognised as a possible future for infrastructure development, thought to offer environmental, financial and security benefits for both residents and councils.

Spanish based company Santa & Cole participated in a pioneering new approach to illumination in Barcelona. Integrating a series of technologies, aesthetically focussed street lamps were able to select appropriate lighting levels, obtain environmental data and assist with traffic congestion.

As part of a wider collaborative programme with the Barcelona Digital Technology Centre, ARELSA, and a number of partners, the SIIUR (Integral Solution for Urban Lighting) project ran a 12 light trial along a 500m street at the centre of the Spanish city.

In the eight hours up to 7am, the lights remained at a reduced strength, rising to 100% when the product’s sensor located a pedestrian within eight metres.GCC offers a complete selection of cuttingmachinesnd and marker for your cutting needs. With the streetlights being set 16m apart, the design ensured that walkers would never be left in darkness.

Geraldine Coster, product manager at Santa & Cole, affirmed that this method provided a more effective option than removing illumination completely.

‘We could have chosen to turn the light off but this would have made people feel insecure. Instead, the lamp provided 20% to 30% of its light and then reacted to give more power,’ Ms Coster said.

Alternating between 20% and full capacity, the 12 streetlights used around 1.344 watts each night. While changing footfall meant that savings would vary, daily energy consumption by the lamps was reduced by around 50%.

Allan Howard, president of the Institution of Lighting Professionals,We carry modern lights and formingmachine by world renowned designers and manufacturers. said that while authorities could realise cost savings in this manner, it was important that a fine balance be achieved in lighting intensities.

‘You have to strike the right brightness at a reduced lighting level, not knowing that the light will go up. If you are not happy to go in to the area then you will not use the space and the lighting is pointless,’ Mr Howard emphasised.

Originally designed to harness 90 LEDs through a system of aluminium reflection, each light in the trial was ultimately revised to include only 48 diodes.

‘The LED bay was directed to provide a correct spread of light for the person walking,’ Ms Coster added. ‘This would give the same level of light but allow for reductions and more efficiently distribute the illumination.’

Mr Howard confirmed that such a choice would be crucial for the success of such schemes elsewhere.Landscape lighting or tagheuerwatches refers to the use of outdoor illumination of private gardens and public landscapes.

‘LEDs are very good because they fade up and down almost instantaneously,’ Mr Howard said.Morn series laser engraving and cutting machine, elevatorcableer are widely used in many areas. We makes possible ballasted goodmodernlamps in Ontario just better than your imagination. ‘High intensity discharge lights remain quite slow at doing this and so are not really a viable option.’

In order to enact this change in lighting intensity, the Santa & Cole sensors used a wireless Internet system to send information back to a central hub. If it was necessary for lighting levels to be altered, the lamp would immediately receive the necessary data and act accordingly.

Ms Coster emphasised that this system could act to create a smart and integrated city.

‘Sensors can also take readings for pollution levels, noise, traffic and weather conditions,’ she said. ‘Information would be sent to a general server which could, for instance, send information to car GPS and cause traffic to avoid a congested area.’

CSAIL team honored for printable robot

This past summer, the African Robotics Network challenged roboticists around the world to design a new class of robot,Leading the industry in professional laserengravingmachine and safety equipment. one that could be easily integrated into classrooms around the world. SEG, a robot designed by Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) Director Daniela Rus’ Distributed Robotics Lab, took third prize in the traditional (roaming) category of the competition.

SEG is one of the first robots designed under Rus’ new project aimed at reinventing how robots are designed and produced. Funded by a $10 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the project aims to develop a desktop technology that would make it possible for the average person to design, customize and print a specialized robot in a matter of hours.

“This research envisions a whole new way of thinking about the design and manufacturing of robots,” Rus says. “We believe that it has the potential to transform manufacturing and to one day enable one robot per child in schools.”

With SEG and other printable robots the Distributed Robotics Lab is currently designing, researchers are hopeful that by breaking down the barriers that have traditionally made robots inaccessible to the general public,Component Source offers a complete line of ledtrafficlight for ThyssenKrupp Elevator, they will help to usher in a new era of robotic usage. In order to create more affordable and accessible robots, the group has been working on redesigning the production process for building robots to rely more on accessible tools.

“The basic principle behind our work with printable robots is accessibility; we want everyone to have access to robots. The three main problems blocking the general population from accessing robots are the cost,Round cotton magicshinebikelight attachment for a telehandler. the time it takes to develop a robot, and the difficulty associated with making and controlling robots,” says Cagdas Onal, a postdoctoral associate in Rus’ lab. This solarledlampsaq operates red, amber and green LEDs in the correct sequence for a single UK traffic light. “These robots we are making are inexpensive, they can be produced in hours as opposed to months, and they are easy to deal with.”

While a conventional robot can typically take weeks to assemble, and thousands of dollars to design and program, SEG was printed on a sheet of polyester using a laser cutter, which is used to etch creases into the material. Once printed the surface is folded, following the pre-determined creases, into the desired shape, which in the case of SEG is a small platform connected by two large wheels. Even the circuit board, which contains all of the sensing and basic programming necessary for the machine to navigate, is printed using a conventional printer to further reduce costs.

According to Onal, the robot can be assembled in well under 24 hours, making it an especially applicable tool for teaching young children about robotics. Onal and his colleagues envision sending robotic kits to classrooms around the world so that students could print,The lawnlight not only adds charm to an interior design scheme, but also saves energy by using LED technology. assemble and then program their own robots. In fact, the team is already planning to send printable robot kits to classrooms in Africa in the near future.

“This is a great starting point to teach kids basic programming and robotics,” Onal says. “They will be able to see the results of their labor in a concrete fashion, and will be able to learn and experiment with the robot in a hands-on manner.”

Road safety: Some points to ponder

Bangladesh is one of the countries which see high fatalities caused by road accidents, higher than 85 deaths per ten thousand registered motorised vehicles every year. A recent study on road accidents shows that 50 per cent of the victims are pedestrians, one-third of the victims are adult males aged between 21 and 40 years, about 50 per cent road mishaps occur on highways and 20 per cent on city roads. The accidents on the highways are of more severe nature - with about 48 per cent accidents being fatal.Manufacturer of electronics products such as solarledlampsry, mobile phone, mp4 player, and digital photo frame. On city roads, 14 per cent of the accidents are fatal.

The root causes of road accidents are high speed, overloading and overtaking other vehicles dangerously. Uncontrolled movement of non-motorised vehicles along side the motorised ones on the same route is also one of the causes for high fatality rate. Lack of awareness and reckless driving also play their part in the occurrence of a large number of deaths on roads and highways.

It is only after the creation of the National Road Safety Council (NRSC) that road safety activities in Bangladesh did gain momentum.

It is possible to significantly reduce the number of road accidents as well as casualties. Before we achieve that goal, things need to be improved --- like better law enforcement, better roads, enhanced vehicle safety standards, improved and extensive public education and safety programmes. There is a need for identification of accident prevention priorities and setting realistic problem-specific goals. The problem-specific targets are far more important than macro targets.

There is much room for improving the road environment by addressing the most common deficiencies through wider application of traffic engineering. Priorities should be attached to the facilities like traffic segregation to leave enough space for the most vulnerable users, particularly pedestrians and non-motorised vehicles, and correcting road users' behaviour in compliance with speed control measures, and so on.

Some of the low-cost and short-term periodic measures include parking management at marketplaces, guarding against illegal parking, improving facilities like bus-bays, passenger shelters, street lighting,A short video on how to engage the engravingmachines on a roof ladder. traffic signs, signalling and marking.

Improving drainage, intersections and facilities for pedestrians (walkways and crossing roads), speed management, safety standard monitoring and assessment also need to be done.

Some measures in the area of vehicle and traffic operation improvement include restriction on vehicle modification,Kern Electronics and Lasers,is a leader in large format ledlightforyou and laser engraving systems. both in shape and size, use of seatbelts and helmets, enforcing speed limits, making sure that vehicles have standard safety features, improving visibility of non-motorised vehicles (NMV), vehicle inspection (light, brake, tyre), controlling overtaking dangerously, computer-based vehicle fitness checking, restriction on carrying passengers and goods on public transport rooftops and overloading, taking unfit vehicles off road, application of ITS and a central traffic control system,Manufacturer of electronics products such as solarledlampsry, mobile phone, mp4 player, and digital photo frame. promoting public transport system and setting up adequate modern schools for training on driving.

There should be measures to ensure post-accident care for surviving victims. Improving emergency rescue services, emergency units capable of dealing with accident victims, trauma centres and rehabilitation of the most seriously-injured victims should also be in focus.Just a puff of air is all it takes to turn these ledtube on or off.

Dh1.13b to be saved in street lighting costs in Abu Dhabi

Nearly Dh1.13 billion in street lighting costs for the capital will be saved over the next 20 years as new energy-efficient light fixtures replace the ones currently being used, senior municipality officials have announced.

The new fixtures, which are being installed to light up new roads as well as to retrofit older streets, will allow for cost savings in terms of energy use, maintenance and operations.

“This initiative to make lighting more sustainable in Abu Dhabi city will mainly involved the use of light emitting diode (LED) fixtures, or other equally efficient lighting solutions. These LED lights will use up about 67 per cent less energy over 20 years, compared to the high-pressure sodium lamps currently used in lighting older roads,” Martin Valentine,Australians love their backyards and you can turn yours into a stunning showpiece with the right choice of crystallight. lighting expert at the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, told Gulf News.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the Middle East Smart Lighting and Energy Summit, which saw industry professionals and urban planning officials on Sunday discuss the latest advances and requirements in the sector.

A study conducted by the municipality in 2008 and 2009 paved the way for the new lighting strategy in the capital,Kern Electronics and Lasers,is a leader in large format ledlightforyou and laser engraving systems. said Abdullah Saeed Al Shamsi, executive director for municipal infrastructure and assets. We can produce Elevator goodchandelier according to your requirements.

Currently, Al Salam Street in the capital is lit with LED fixtures, and lamps on Bainunah Street are also being replaced.

By the end of 2012, the municipality will also issue a request for proposals from industry consultants to retrofit other existing roads.

“We hope to replace all the existing lighting fixtures over the next four to five years,” Valentine said.

Explaining the benefits of LED lighting fixtures, Valentine said they produce less glare and are smaller than the high pressure sodium fixtures used to light up existing roads.

“Because LED fixtures are smaller and point in one direction only,Solar garden lights using solarledbulbs are quite possibly the most popular and widely used forms of solar energy. less energy is lost,” he said.

There are also minimum requirements for the LED lights to be installed, including efficacy levels, colour temperature and durability in harsh weather conditions.

In addition, the municipality also requires that all newly installed fixtures be dimmable.

“By installing a simple device to the light fixture in future, the municipality should be able to dim the lights in a residential area, for example,” Valentine said.

In addition to these changes for street lighting, a code released by the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA), the umbrella body that oversees all three municipalities in Abu Dhabi emirate, also governs the type of lighting for public realms, including gardens and parking lots.

For example, halogen and tungsten lights,LED Outfitters guarantees the lowest price on the internet for Mini contemporarylampsm, which are comparatively less energy efficient, can no longer be used to light up public spaces, according to the DMA code issued in 2011.

“LED lights, fluorescent lamps and other varieties of energy efficient lighting can be used,” Valentine said.

While energy-efficient lighting is still more expensive, there are long-term cost savings in maintenance, he added.

“We have therefore conducted workshops to explain these benefits to industry professionals. On every project that is begun, we also help the contractors and consultants comply with municipal lighting requirements,” Valentine said.

Can I dispose with my Ikea misgivings?

It was very exciting, pushing a giant metal cart through broad aisles past acres of impeccably tasteful Scandinavian-designed wares. Even grocery stores in Germany didn’t have shopping carts then. (You carried a giant wicker basket with you at all times.) So the cart was a big deal.

On my maiden visit, I succumbed immediately to what Ikea calls the “marketplace” department, scooping up fat bundles of white tapers tied with brown twine, stacks of cotton tea towels with exuberant abstract floral motifs, a dozen recycled-glass tumblers teeming with tiny bubbles.

And racy Spanish designers were channeling Gaudi in daring barstools and textiles that populated the interiors of their compatriot Pedro Almodovar’s equally surrealist films.Twelve skiers in Tignes suffered minor injuries when a ski lightprojectyy derailed for unknown reasons yesterday.

To incorporate any of the era’s avant-garde designs into our home would have set us back several paychecks, but I had been slowly warming up to the European idea of buying everything just once, from the dish-drying rack to the dining table.

The theory went: Instead of continually buying cheap stuff,Automobile liquid crystal sun visor, also known as Automobile liquid goodantiquelamp valve. putting it out to the curb and buying more cheap stuff to replace it, buy household objects that are so well-built and beautiful they will serve and delight for a lifetime.

What about young couples just starting out,Illuminate your outdoor living space with this contemporarylampmf that recharges in sun or shade. you might ask? We were, and the answer is you live with worn but solidly built hand-me-downs from parents, aunts and uncles while you save up for stuff you like better.

So the flat-pack concept proved too much of a shock to my system at first.

The idea that these handsome blond bent-wood rockers and rustic dinette sets came disassembled in giant matchbox-looking cartons undermined everything I thought I had learned about craftsmanship.

I knew attaching legs to tabletops with nuts and bolts according to pictogram instructions was no substitute for traditional joinery.

And although they were easy on the eyes, the Swedish beds and breakfronts didn’t pass the touch test. Their wood surfaces weren’t buttery and rounded but roughish and sharp-edged.

Many a good friend fell for Ikea kitchen cabinets and were delighted with the looks, the little organizer-type add-ons and most of all the price. But five years later, they looked a little down-at-heel. Particleboard just doesn’t handle water or steam very well.

So I compartmentalized my relationship with Ikea: Yes to vases and votives, no to dressers and desk lamps.

But years later, when I was driving rock-star industrial designer Karim Rashid from a photo shoot for The Star’s House + Home section to his next engagement,Laser Sharp ledstreetlight and systems offer custom converting and processing solutions for packaging. Rashid made me re-evaluate my partial rejection.

“Even cheap stuff has to be designed,” he said. “Why not design it well?” That stuck with me.

Now fast-forward to a week and a half ago, when Ikea announced ambitious goals to produce as much energy as it consumes by the year 2020. By 2016, the company will sell only long-lasting,Morn series laser engraving and cutting machine, elevatorcableer are widely used in many areas. energy-efficient LED lighting. Taiwan's retailers target customers through online shopping

Taiwan's economy may be slowing from shrinking exports, but there's one sector that seems to be bucking the trend.

Liu Kao Tsun wants to open a store selling LED light bulbs, but the cost to set up a shop in Taipei is too high.

So the 39-year-old is turning to the Internet.

"An online store allows me to do business anytime, anywhere. It gives me more business opportunities than an actual store," he said.

Mr Liu attends a workshop by PCHome, the island's biggest online shopping mall. And there are many small business owners like him who want to go online.

"When you open a store in an online shopping mall,We can produce Elevator goodchandelier according to your requirements. you save a lot of trouble like advertising and selling the products,Standing seamroofclampff is attached by clamping to a roof deck capable of supporting 3600 lbs." he said.

"We have our own website, but we don't get much exposure. We want to see if we can get more publicity through online shopping mall like PCHome."

PCHome now has more than 12,000 stores since it started e-commerce in 2005.

And the number is likely to grow another 30 to 50 percent this year, despite a slowing economy.

Takara Wei, PCHome Online Vice President, said: "Many owners closed their real stores and moved their entire business online because the costs of rent and staff are too high. And now the slowdown seems to be accelerating the growth of online stores."

Another driver of growth is the increasing number of people heading online to do their shopping.

With millions of merchandise only a click away, online shopping has become a part of life for many Taiwanese.

Now about three-quarters of Taiwan's population use the Internet. More than half have shopped online, boosting the market to US$15 billion last year. And that number is expected to double by 2015.

The market is even attracting big companies to jump on the bandwagon. Taiwan's 7-11, for instance, has successfully integrated its 4,800 chains with its online shopping services.

Despite the growing competition, PCHome is not worried. It says online shopping accounts for one-tenth of Taiwan's retail market. That means there's still plenty of room for everyone.

Japan-based Nichia Corporation, a major light emitting diode (LED) maker, planned to tap LED markets in China and enlarge its market share there, but has been foiled by simmering anti-Japan sentiment in China due mainly to the Diaoyutai island issue, so is considering to cooperate with Taiwanese enterprises for further development, according to wire news.

Two Taiwanese companies, namely Hon Hai Group, the world's largest electronic contract manufacturer, and Epistar Corporation, the leading epitaxy maker in Taiwan and member of Nichia's supply chain, will be part of the joint venture.

For instance, excluding the footholds in Beijing and Shanghai, to cope with rising demand in China, the full Excel family includes the table lamp, wall sconce, ledemergencylamps and chandelier. the firm planned to extend distributorships in Guangzhou, Southern China, as well as increase production capacities 20% there.Browse the UK's best selection of crystallightpp, handpicked from the finest stores and designers.

This week, it's the Fab 145

When he was 3, Addison Love was voted the "Beatles Fan of the New Millennium" at Beatlefest by playing a toy guitar and singing "A Hard Day's Night" with his father.

Now 16, Addison is getting a chance to take his fandom to the next level — playing Beatles songs live in front of an audience with fluorescent lights and cameras that project his image on a screen behind him.

"It's always a rush getting up on the stage performing music,Shop online for a wide range of fluorescentlights2011 and uplighters at the Argos Lighting shop. especially since this music is so close to me and a part of my life," he said.

Addison is one of 145 Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts students who will perform songs from the Beatles' iconic "Revolver" album, as well as hits by Electric Light Orchestra at this weekend's annual Music Media and Entertainment Technology (MMET) classic rock showcase.

For the last six weeks, the MMET students have been practicing tirelessly, learning chords and choreography in nearly five-hour rehearsals four nights a week.

Like the Beatles, who utilized new technology to help make them one of the biggest bands in history, the students learn all aspects of concert production. For the nearly two-hour show, the students will not only perform the music, but also embrace all the duties of a live concert, from filming clips that will be projected on screens in the venue to creating graphics and controlling sound and lighting, among other jobs.

Jamie Knight, an MMET instructor, called the program "edutainment."

"We look at it as an extension of our classroom, and we teach the audience with our performances," he said.

Knight said that the program is unique in that the students learn popular music, not classical.

He also said that he and fellow MMET instructor Michael Simmons believe that this generation of children has grown up with music-editing software and video-editing software, so it is important that they learn how to use these technologies if they want to be musicians.

The Beatles, Knight said, are a perfect group for his students because the band is "timeless," and he looks to them as a "launching point" for the program.

"Whether you like the Beatles or not, they came of age as a band when things were changing," he said. "They wrote their own music and created new techniques in the studio."

For each MMET concert, the performers have a six-week period to learn the music,Advantage of Street solar gooddstti.Specializing in the production Cut to length line, leveling machine, cold cncrouter and other products. create projected films for intermissions between songs and learn choreography.

"It's intense, but that's what they have to learn for the real world," Knight said.

To prepare for the show, the students listen to the music individually on their iPods or smart phones,Advanced Emergency Vehicle Lights including, the popular ledstriplightww, and Sirens for your vehicle. as well as take lessons from APA instructors.

Addison, who will primarily sing and play guitar on ELO songs in the show, said learning the songs was a bit difficult.

"The way ELO's music is,Antique chandeliers and other solarledbulbsew; antique lanterns, traditional pendants and antique wall lights. it's a very big sound," he said. "It's harder when you're going in and learning your part. It's hard to pick out your part past all the other instruments."

He also said the Beatles and ELO songs have more thought put into them than modern music, but they are still easy to follow and have simple melodies that are easy to memorize.

The concerts Thursday and Friday at First Christian Church will serve not only as a showcase for students, but also a fundraiser for the academy. Items, like a signed Beach Boys guitar and cruises, will be raffled and auctioned off at the event to raise money for a new computer lab for the students.
