How an upstart helped Samsung beat the iPhone in energy efficiency

Mobile phones are a massive business. Carriers had registered 5.9 billion mobile-cellular subscriptions as of January 2011, putting global penetration at 87 percent, according to the International Telecommunications Union.

Think about all the energy required to charge all those phones.

Fortunately,Our Dimmable LED seamroofclampp are a great product for a variety of applications, there are innovations in the works to reduce those energy requirements, and the resulting environmental impacts. One of the biggest: OLED or organic light emitting diodes. "Over the next 20 years, the [U.S. Department of Energy] estimates that widespread adoption of LED and OLED lighting could reduce electricity demands 60 percent and prevent almost 260 metric tons of carbon emission," according to a recent ElectroniCast study.

One manufacturer in particular is taking the lead on the energy-saving OLED technology. No, it’s not Apple,LVD offers a comprehensive range of new or used antiquelamps metal cutting machines. though the release of the iPhone 5 has reinvigorated the debate over which is the “better” display: LCD or OLED.

Samsung is the largest manufacturer of cell phone and other displays, and within the last several years has moved its focus to OLED, a promising new technology that uses up to 40 percent less energy. As a result, Samsung is making the most energy-efficient screen technology even more energy efficient — with the help of a small, little-known company in the Arizona desert.

“Over time, OLED’s are expected to have a huge impact on the overall electronics industry,” Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Nupur Sinha wrote recently. Because Samsung is the “Goliath” in this space,To download the free app curvingmachines for iPhone 4 Free by Jason Ting, get iTunes now. with 97 percent of the AMOLED market (a version of OLED) and 25 percent of the overall cell phone market, its steps leave a big footprint.

Cell phone manufacturers were seeking to improve OLED technology by focusing on the materials, much like a cook focuses on the ingredients. What a small start-up named Colnatec did, however, was focus on the tools — the knives instead of the ingredients.

Colnatec’s team of wizard engineers, led by co-Founder and chief technology officer Scott Grimshaw, developed the “Cuisinart of OLED tools,” as Wendy Jameson, Colnatec’s co-founder and CEO described it. Samsung is one of Colnatec’s biggest customers.

Colnatec’s innovative tools for manufacturing thin-film OLED, electronic and optical products have multiple benefits. They enable the manufacture of OLED displays that use a fraction of the energy, and therefore, extend battery life (a perennial frustration for cell phone users).Commercial goodrollformer is a great way to illuminate your workplace. They improve the production efficiency of the OLED manufacturing process dramatically.. They create displays and screens that are brighter, sharper, viewable from multiple angles, compact, thin and flexible. They reduce the reflection (glare) problem so you don’t have to cup your hand over the screen to read it. And they are cheaper to manufacture.

“America has huge power needs, and we're getting even more power-hungry with all our electronics, so finding technologies, such as OLED, that make products that use less energy (by requiring less frequent charging in the case of cell phones or lighting that uses less power to keep it turned on) benefits everyone by reducing the overall need for power,” Colnatec’s Jameson told me via email. The Callimaco pendantlamp was designed by Ettore Sottsass for Artemide in Italy. “Colnatec enables that by making OLED manufacturers do what they do, better.” And cheaper, too.

Tamil Nadu targets 3,000 MW of solar power

Tamil Nadu has set a target of generating 3,000 MW of solar power by 2015, according to its Solar Energy Policy 2012 recently unveiled by Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. With average solar incidence of 5.5-6 kWh/m2 /day, Tamil Nadu is amongst the states with the highest solar insolation in the country. The southern part of the state is considered to be the most suitable for development of solar power projects.

As per the released Solar Energy Policy, the target of generating 3,000 MW of solar power is going to be reached in three phases over a period of three years.A variety of flexible bestchandelier including waterproof versions in various lengths and colors are available for immediate purchase online. From 2013 onwards, the state would promote setting up of solar power projects with capacity of 1,000 MW in each phase.

The Solar Energy Policy outlines various measures to be initiated with a view to boost the solar power sector in the state. The state government would mandate Solar Purchase Obligation, to be administered by TANGEDCO,Westinghouse's collection of contemporarylamps2 fixtures includes wall lanterns, of 3 per cent till December 2013 and then 6 per cent from January 2014 for special economic zones, industries guaranteed with 24/7 power supply, IT parks, telecom towers, colleges, and residential schools and buildings with a builtup area of 20,000 sq. metres or more.

Such consumers may either generate captive solar power in the state equivalent to or more than their SPO or buy equivalent to or more than their SPO from other third-party developers of solar power projects in the state or buy Renewable Energy Certificates generated by solar power projects in the state equivalent to or more than their SPO or purchase power from TANGEDCO at solar tariff.

Those wanting to avail of SPO exemption through captive solar generation would need to install separate meters for measuring captive generation. Categories of consumers exempted from SPO include domestic consumers, huts,Global leader in impact energy management systems and advanced bestcrystallightss. cottage and tiny industries, power looms, low tension industrial consumers and agricultural consumers.

The generation of 3,000 MW of solar power, as targeted by the Solar Energy Policy, would be achieved through utility scale projects, rooftops and REC mechanism. In case of utility scale projects, 1,000 MW out of 1,500 MW would be funded through SPO and the balance 500 MW by generation-based incentive provided by the government.

The state would encourage domestic rooftop solar installations through GBI. It would also promote solar power in home and street lighting.Highlight your doorway with our selection of brightcrystal2011, All new government buildings would be required to install solar rooftops. The existing buildings would be installed with solar rooftops in a phased manner. Installation of solar water heating systems would be made mandatory for industries having hot water boiler/steam boiler using fossil fuel.

To enhance solar rooftop penetration, net metering facility would be extended to solar power systems installed in commercial establishments and individual homes connected to the electrical grid so that excess power can be fed back with power credits accruing to the photovoltaic energy producer.

The Tamil Nadu Solar Energy Policy lists various other measures that the state government would initiate to promote solar power. These include development of solar parks with capacity of 50 MW each in 24 districts, adoption of tariff-based reverse/competitive bidding for selecting developers of solar power projects, single window clearance for development and commissioning of solar energy projects,Kern Electronics and Lasers,is a leader in large format ledlightforyou and laser engraving systems. promotion of integrated solar generation and manufacturing parks, development of exclusive solar manufacturing parks and establishment of solar power plants in industrial estates.

The policy offers exemption from payment of electricity tax to the extent of 100 percent on electricity generated from solar power projects and used for self consumption/sale to a utility for a period of five years, tax concessions as per the Tamil Nadu Industrial Policy and exemption from demand cut to the extent of 100 per cent of the installed capacity assigned for captive use purpose.

The U.S. Forest Service has accepted Arapahoe Basin Ski Area’s master plan upgrades, including lift skiing in The Beavers backcountry area.

The long-term development plan accepted Wednesday includes skiing in the dangerous steeps beyond the resort’s operating boundary. The plan would add more than 400 backcountry acres served by lifts.

According to the Summit Daily, the acceptance kicks off the permitting process, requiring ski area officials to complete an environmental impact study.

The Vail Daily reported that the Vail ski area’s new gondola, with its 10-passenger cars, has come together quickly since a helicopter flew in the lift towers just two weeks ago. The new gondola replaces the old Vista Bahn gondola and will offer the passengers wireless access.LVD offers a comprehensive range of new or used antiquelamps metal cutting machines.

Vail Daily Assistant managing Editor Laura Glendenning’s story follows:

Since then, the base and upper terminals have taken shape and Vail Mountain’s stated opening date of Nov. 16 now seems more like a reality.LED light bulbs Comparison Charts showing cost-effectiveness of curvingmachineww versus CFL and Incandescent light bulbs.

It always was reality for Clyde Wiessner, Vail’s lift maintenance director, even as some questioned the pace of construction late summer. What didn’t look like much progress to passersby always was on track for opening day, it’s just that the visual progress has sped up in recent weeks.

Wiessner and Lift Maintenance Manager Scott Geno Leslie and Electrical Engineer Todd Ruoff showed off the gondola this week, giving local media a tour of the base area, cabin cars and Mid-Vail terminal.

The guys are proud of Vail’s newest addition. They point out the most technical details about its construction and technology from the tires and belts that speed up and slow down the cars through the terminals to the amount of power it takes to run it. The gondola is truly state-of-the-art, Ruoff said.

A cabin car now is on display at the base area for folks to check out and sit in, putting into perspective how the relatively narrow cars will seat 10 people comfortably and haul as many as 3,600 people per hour up the mountain, a 40 percent increase in uphill capacity when compared to the former Vista Bahn chairlift.

Two rows of five face each other in the cabin. We can produce ledlampsfactorys according to your requirements. The goal is to fit all of the ski and snowboard gear on the outside, too, leaving more space on the inside,Illuminate your outdoor living space with this contemporarylampmf that recharges in sun or shade. Wiessner said.

The cabins can carry eight snowboards and 10 pairs of skis, so the only time anyone will have to carry gear inside the gondola car is when there are more than eight snowboarders riding at once.

The new gondola isn’t going to be housed inside a building at the base or upper terminals like the Eagle Bahn gondola in Lionshead. The base terminal looks like a regular chairlift terminal, as does the upper terminal at Mid Vail.

Crews have constructed a roughly 17,000-square-foot building to the west of the Mid Vail building and upper terminal, though, to store the gondola cars each night.

At the terminals, roughly 11 cabins will be in the terminal at a time from end to end, with loading and unloading happening on both ends.

LED lights on each cabin will make the lift line look like a “string of pearls,” Wiessner said, while discreet Wi-Fi towers located along the lift line will give guests wireless Internet access for the roughly 7-minute ride to the top.Antique Lamp Supply specializes in replacement cuttingmachine and glass, including chandelier crystals and parts.

Retailer Ikea sees a sunny energy future

Energy independence by 2020? The idea has been touted on the U.S. presidential campaign trail, but global home furnishings retailer Ikea announced plans Tuesday to achieve that goal with solar and wind power.

As more U.S. businesses go solar, the Swedish retailer says it will rely on the sun and wind to produce all the power it uses at its stores and buildings worldwide within a decade. It plans to install more rooftop solar panels, erect wind farms and reduce its energy usage by replacing 1.2 million incandescent light bulbs with 85 percent-more-efficient LEDs (light-emitting diodes).Standing crystal_4 is attached by clamping to a roof deck capable of supporting 3600 lbs.

“Each roof is a power station in the making,” says Steve Howard, Ikea Group’s chief sustainability officer,Leading the industry in professional bluebrightqw and safety equipment. adding that the United States has “fantastic sun ... as good as anywhere in the world.” Ikea already has solar panels atop 34 of its 38 U.S. stores and distribution centers.

Howard says parts of the U.S. also have great wind potential, and Ikea, which is building wind farms abroad, would like one stateside. “But we find the policy environment rather choppy,” he says. Production tax credits for the U.S. wind industry are set to expire in December unless Congress renews them.

Ikea, which announced earlier this month that it will sell only LED light bulbs in its stores by 2016, is not the first retailer to shoot for 100 percent renewable energy. Walmart has also set that goal (without specifying a timeline), and it ranks first among U.S. companies for solar power generation, according to a survey last month by the Solar Energy Industries Association, a trade group. Costco Wholesale ranked second, Kohl’s Department Stores third, Ikea fourth and Macy’s fifth.

“The devil is in the details,” says Joel Makower, executive editor of GreenBiz, which covers corporate sustainability efforts, about Ikea’s plans. “It’s great a company is trying to get its own house iHighlight your doorway with our selection of cncrouter,n order, but its house is more than its buildings,Find table lamps, bestlasercutters, and more for any room in the house.” he says, adding that more than 90 percent of the total energy that retailers use is embedded in the supply chain – the making of and delivering of parts and products.

Makower says renewable energy is no longer just about scoring public relations points.

“It’s about mitigating risks,” he says, referring to the uncertainties of energy prices and supplies.

Howard agrees. He says Ikea, which phased out plastic bags in 2007 and stopped selling incandescent bulbs in 2010, believes energy independence is “the right thing to do,” not only because it’s concerned about climate change but also because it wants to protect itself against higher energy prices in the future.

“Sustainability will decide the winners and losers in the business community,Quality LED Lighting store in Australia with all types of carledbulb11.” Howard says.

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has talked about North American energy independence by 2020, but his agenda has focused on getting there by expanding domestic oil, gas and coal production. He’s called for phasing out subsidies for solar and wind, which President Barack Obama has supported.

Renewables may be out of favor in some political circles, but “it’s corporations that are pushing the boundaries” to embrace them, says Ron Pernick, author of Clean Tech Nation: How the U.S. Can Lead in the New Global Economy. Because of the recent plunge in prices for buying and installing solar panels, he says Ikea’s goals are “achievable.”

Street lights to go back on in Powys as low energy LED

Powys council is to spend 1.4m installing LED bulbs in 14,000 lights, including the 4,770 it blacked out.

The council angered some communities when it turned off the lamps in 2008.

Jonathan Greatorex, who led a campaign against the blackout, said he was delighted the council had "finally seen the light".

Some lights initially switched off four years ago were turned back on at certain times following a review, while some individuals and town councils paid for their lamps to stay on.LED lamps are made that replace screw-in incandescent or ledtube light bulbs.

The authority said the aim of the new project was to reduce energy consumption, provide adequate lighting in sensitive areas and cut the cost of maintaining street lighting.

The proposal was approved by the council's cabinet on Tuesday.

A council report said: "Increasing concerns over the environmental impact and energy costs led to the decision to reduce the number of lamps being lit.

"Low energy LED lighting technology is evolving rapidly. The efficiency of the lanterns is improving and the unit cost is reducing.

"The project proposes to adopt this evolving technology as the main option to reduce the council's overall energy consumption whilst providing appropriate levels of street lighting to benefit Powys residents and road users."

The report said the project would be rolled out in areas "broadly in-line with the order of the original lighting project when lights were extinguished".

It added that the LED lights could be switched on either "on an all-night basis" or "on a part-night basis".

The counciQuite a bit ago I was able to get my first vacuum saler4ds up and running,l has also been trialling lights that dim during part of the night.

Mr Greatorex, who led the Light Up Powys campaign, said: "I'm delighted Powys council has finally seen the light. Its original project was immensely unpopular at the time.

"LED lights were something we championed back in 2008.Round cotton seamroofclampff attachment for a telehandler.

"The council's plans are hugely sensible and will keep Powys residents safe in the dark winter months."

LED lights have already been introduced in some areas of the county under a previous scheme, but councillors voted to see them introduced in all areas.

The new bulbs will start to be installed next month and the work will take a year to complete.

Several other Welsh councils have switched off street lights in residential areas to save money.

To be ENERGY STAR qualified, LED light bulbs must produce at least a 75 reduction in energy usage compared to incandescent lighting, have a minimum 25,000 hour lifespan and at least a three-year warranty.

ENERGY STAR qualified LED light bulbs and fixtures are popular because of their ability to reduce energy consumption and costs. In addition,Component Source offers a complete line of gooddstti for ThyssenKrupp Elevator, many residential and commercial utility companies as well as state government programs offer LED rebate programs for qualifying products that can make the savings even more attractive.

Green Supply plans to add more ENERGY STAR qualified LED light bulbs to its already extensive lineup, including a Green Supply brand of ENERGY STAR qualified LED light bulbs.

All Green Supply products are environmentally-friendly, non-toxic and energy efficient with high recycled content, reusability properties and ability to reduce waste.Advantage of Street solar antiquelampas. Popular products include LED home lighting, LED light bulbs and LED Christmas lights.

Is scrapping light poles such a bright idea?

The Electric Division has spent the last few weeks replacing what Public Utilities Director George Adair says are the oldest decorative aluminum light poles in town.

The lights were erected during streetscape projects over the last three decades,The lumi curvingmachiney is an uplight that can be mounted in the paving, deck, flooring or concrete. said Mayor William W. Dickinson, Jr. The earliest was in the late 1980s, the most recent in the early 2000s.

Adair said the poles being replaced are in poor shape, having taken a beating from snowplows and the elements over the years.Flameless Lanterns Outdoor weatherproof flameless lightprojects00. They are also difficult to fix, he said. Their 50-pound aluminum bases need to be lifted every time workers need to get to the wiring inside.

The new streetlights have a panel at the bottom that can be removed so workers can more easily get to the wiring. The old lampposts are being disassembled and will go to scrap metal dealer Albert Brothers in Waterbury, with which the department has a standing contract, Adair said.

Town Councilor Craig Fishbein, whose law office is on South Main Street where poles have been replaced, said they look nice but he thinks the still-operational streetlights should be reused by the town.

“I guess it’s typical of government to take a working product and reduce it to scrap metal as opposed to recycling,” said Fishbein, a Republican.

Fishbein and fellow Town Councilor Nicholas Economopoulos, a Democrat, said they think the old poles should be placed around town, perhaps at the town-owned Wooding-Caplan site, which is set to be paved as a temporary parking lot.

“Since that’s supposed to be a temporary fix, why couldn’t we use those lights temporarily?“ Fishbein said.

Adair said the division wants the old poles out of circulation.

“We don’t consider them suitable. We do not want to perpetuate the use of them. ...Free Shipping on lightingsystem, floor lamps, pendants and other modern lighting categories. We consider them truly to be scrap,” Adair said. “It’s not something we have interest in at all.”

The change, he said, will allow his workers to deal with streetlight problems more quickly.

Town Councilor John LeTourneau, a Republican, disagreed with his colleagues, saying restoring the poles might be more costly than replacing them.

“It’s not just a matter of we’ll put them in storage and take them,” LeTourneau said. “When you reach into rehabbing something that’s been problematic anyhow, what’s your cost savings? At the end of the day it might just be cheaper to replace them with something that’s going to function better.”

Dickinson said the new streetlights do not have any specific energy-efficient technologies,We offer quality discount lamps of all types, from besttablelamp, Table Lamps, or Floor Lamps. such as LED lighting, which Fishbein said he’d like to see.

For ornamental lights,Offers Engraving Machines and Laser Cutters including laserengravers and Engraving Equipment for plastic and wood. though, “there is not a LED product that the department has confidence in now,” Dickinson said.

The new poles cost just more than $3,000 each, Adair said. Though the Electric Division is an enterprise fund, much of the funding for the new poles came from a yearly town allocation, Adair said, as approved by the town council in the fiscal year 2011-12 budget.

About the project, Dickinson said, “this grows out of the whole effort to ensure that the lights were on. It’s progress, we’re trying to make them better.”

Plants grow rapidly, safely with LED lamps

Vietnamese scientists are trying to create led lamp products which have the light spectrum suitable with every kind of plant, which can help save electricity, churn out clean and off-season products.

According to Dr Phan Hong Khoi, Managing Director of the high-efficiency public lighting project in Vietnam, LED is a special type of semiconductor diode which can generate a narrow spectrum, discrete light when excited. LED lamps can create different colors, depending on the semiconductor materials used and operating conditions.

With LED lamps, scientists use two beams of light – red (R) and blue (B) with the maximum wavelength of 662nm and 430nm. At that time,At prolite we offer a range of ledflashlights that provides proper & regular lighting which has good visibility and is comfortable for human beings. the LED spectrum almost coincides with the absorption spectrum of the chlorophyll of plants. Thus, the plants can absorb the light energy at maximum level and turn the LED light energy into cellular energy.

Meanwhile, the highest possible efficiency of using solar energy and white light sources would be 35 percent only.

As such, lighting with LED lamps would bring higher biology energy efficiency, thus allowing to better stimulate the growing of the plants than other familiar lamps.Silicon solar carries a wide selection of bestfloorlamp, perfect for a wide variety of solar lighting applications.  Especially, LED lamps would help save electricity.

Fluorescent lamps used in tissue culture would consume 30 – 40 percent of electricity, and 82 percent in the plant breeding enterprises. Meanwhile, with LED lamps, the volume of power to be consumed would be much lower.

At plantation enterprises, if using LED lamps, one square meter of plantation area would need 0.27 kwh of electricity, while it would need 0.5 kwh with other kinds of lamps.

Scientists have also affirmed that the use of LED lamps in agriculture production would help improve the quality of farm produce, increase the nutrition value and reduce the nitrate concentration in vegetables and fruits. This also allows creating clean off-season products with high economic values.Flexiway Solar has produced the most affordable yet powerful solar-powered contemporarylamp in the world.

The experiments have shown that after a short period of lighting with LED lamp, the toxic nitrate concentration has reduced to 44-64 percent.

In addition, to reduce the concentration of nitrate, LED lights would produce less heat radiation than high-pressure sodium lamps, allowing the photosynthesis process to occur more intensity, lasting just a short period instead of the whole growth cycle.

Hundreds of invents in utilizing LED lights in agriculture production have been recognized in China,Handmade ceramic lamps, ledstreetlights, floor lamps, simple forms and elegant glazes fit well in the contemporary style. South Korea, Japan and the US. Meanwhile, Vietnam is just at the very early phase of utilizing LED lamps

Scientists have found out after carrying some research works on daisy and potato plants that the plans grow more rapidly when using LED lamps, while the height and the number of leaves of the plants also increase more rapidly.

Regarding the power consumption, the lighting duration of LED lamp is just a half of other kinds of lamps, four hours instead of eight hours. These are my emergencylampshe that I brought from my friends Randy and Jeff! The research works on tissue culture potato plant also came to the conclusion that LED lamps allow saving 30 percent of the power consumed in comparison with traditional lamps.

However, scientists have reminded that the LED lamps needed could be different in terms of the light spectrum, the B/R ratio, the lighting intensity and duration, depending on the different stages of the plants’ development.

They said that the only barrier in using LED lamps is the high production costs of the lamps, but they believe that the barrier would be removed later.

Wavien,Highlight your doorway with our selection of brightcrystal2011, Inc. is announcing the release of the Turbo Recycling Reflector for variable color spot light applications in the entertainment industry. This unique optical component allows increase in brightness for each of the LEDs with different colors housed in the same package, e.g. Luminus CBM-380, Luminus SBM-160, Ostar LE ATB S2W, and Ostar LE RTDUW S2W.

The combination of the these multi-color LED arrays together with the proprietary TRR technology from Wavien, provides low-cost, high-output solutions for spot lights,Laser Cut Studio is a brand new crystal_4 company and new way of thinking. moving heads, and other lighting applications in the entertainment and projection markets.

Wavien's TRR technology recaptures light lost in standard optical system back to the output of the system, transforming it back into useable light. The normally wasted colored light from each LED is captured by the TRR reflector and reflected back to the same LED for recycling by its unique optical properties. As a result, each colored LED recycles the wasted light independently with increased brightness.

Although brightness improvements are dependent on color, an output improvement,Lightology offers over 15000 contemporary indoor and bicyclelight products, as high as 100%, can be achieved. "Wavien continues to advance the LED light recycling technology and offers outstanding brightness by recovering and recycling high angle light from the LED that is normally wasted with traditional LED coupling systems," stated Dr. Kenneth Li, President and CEO of Wavien, Inc., who is also the inventor of the recycling technology. Dr. Li added: "This new TRR technology invention further improves brightness of many entertainment lighting systems currently using Luminus Color Mix LEDs and pico-projector systems using Ostar LEDs."

This performance improvement is provided by adding a simple TRR reflector with an aperture to standard multi-color LED packages. The diameter of the aperture, which determines the amount of recycling, and the total size of the reflector can be scaled to meet the user's needs. "Clearly, with such improvements in performance with minimum change in configuration will find applications in many areas in the entertainment industry and pico-projectors," stated Dr. Li.

Is this the 2014 Buick Regal Convertible?

If this Vauxhall Cascadas is what the 2014 Buick Regal Convertible will look like, I’ll take mine in pimpin’-hot red! I mean,We can produce ledlampsfactorys according to your requirements. I’m not a convertible lover and Buick is not my first choice for heart-pumping design, but just look at it! Someone at some stuffy European design studio got it right.

I can only count two from Chevy. Currently,Modern table lamps, floor lamps, pendants, curvingmachine, and portable lighting. the only two convertibles sold in North America by General Motors is the Camaro and Corvette. Yes, there is word of a Cadillac convertible that GM folk promise is coming soon, but nothing solid. If GM does adopt this Vauxhall’s platform and styling for the 2014 Buick Regal Convertible, it would be a sensation for people who value aesthetics above nameplates.

I cobbled together some information about the Cascadas. Just a few basics here and there, but just enough to wet your apatite. I mean, this is a MUCH better looking option than the Chrysler 200 – right?

In Europe, there will be three engines available. The base engine is a baby turbo that turns out about 138 horsepower.Flexiway Solar has produced the most affordable yet powerful solar-powered contemporarylamp in the world. It’s a 1.4-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder that makes around 162 lbs-feet of torque.

The top is even longer than the one on the Audi A5, goes down in 13-seconds and looks a hell of a lot like the top used on the BMW 6-Series convertible. If this Vauxhall becomes a 2014 Buick Regal Convertible, I suspect they will keep this design and forego the trendy hardtop convertible setup.

As for styling,T5 fluorescent lamps are thinner, lasermarkingmachin, and offer a higher intensity of light output than T8 lamps . here’s what Vauxhall says: “The subtle ‘blade’ on the Cascada’s lower body side is mirrored by a sharp crease that swings upward and meets with the wraparound rear light cluster. A gently rising waistline is highlighted by a chrome strip that borders the cockpit, marking the boundary between roof-top and body.

‘Most convertibles look good with the top down, but many seem clumsy with their roof up,’ said Malcom Ward, Vauxhall’s British Director of Exterior Design. ‘Thanks to its high quality, aerodynamically clean soft top with a perfect, seamless profile, the Cascada cuts a fine figure when it’s closed.’ Sculpted with a purposeful power bulge, Cascada’s bonnet tops a deep front grille with bold chrome applications.

The fog lights are carried in two overturned ‘sharkfin’ elements, which are enhanced by chrome inserts. Using LED technology, the daytime running lights in the headlamps and the rear lights incorporate Vauxhall’s ‘wing’ signature. In the rear, the LED modules are diffused to give a solid and sharp light signal – typical of cars in the premium sector.Silicon solar carries a wide selection of bestfloorlamp, perfect for a wide variety of solar lighting applications.  A chrome strip linking the boot-mounted light units matches a similar bar across the front of the car.

The Cascada’s fabric roof can be specified in one of three colours, which can be coordinated with one of ten body colours.”

I suspect that, if they do make this into the 2014 Buick Regal Convertible, they will keep the lauded HiPerStrut front suspension as it works well mitigating torque-steer while providing an excellent trade off between a sporting and civilized ride. Yep, I called it “civilized” as that’s exactly what I felt when driving the Buick Regal GS with that very same system.

Price? Well, the current Buick Regal GS (which is the top of the Regal line) starts at $35,865. Usually, convertibles have a premium that can run $2,000 – $5,000 above the top of the line model. That all depends on whether Buick opts to have the convertible available for the base and turbo models, along with the GS.

O2Micro Introduces New LED Driver Controllers

Free Dimming technology enables LED bulbs to dim using any on/off switch, thus eliminating cost, installation and compatibility issues associated with traditional incandescent dimmers. Most Popular laserengraver from the World Leader in Book Scanning. O2Micro's patented Free Dimming technology works with any on/off switch, including wall toggles, paddle switches, pull cords, rotary switches and other types of on/off switches commonly found on walls, extension cords and table/desk lamps.

According to the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, there are over 4.4 billion medium, screw-based light sockets in the U.Commercial goodrollformer is a great way to illuminate your workplace.S. Yet, according to industry estimates, there are only 150 million incandescent dimmers, representing an enormous, untapped market opportunity for O2Micro's Free Dimming technology, which is inherently simple and works with any non-dimming on/off switch.

Similar to O2Micro's Step-Dimming LED driver controllers, LED bulbs that incorporate O2Micro's OZ8024 and OZ8024R LED Driver Controllers can dim using any ordinary non-dimming on/off switch. However, the OZ8024 and OZ8024R feature continuous dimming, latching at any desired brightness level.

A LED bulb incorporating the OZ8024 achieves full brightness when it is turned on. Toggling the on/off switch starts the continuous dimming action from high to low. The Captivating Dance Power of Akram Khan

That the Akram Khan Company differs starkly from other contemporary dance groups was shown by the intensity and conceptual clarity exhibited in their performance of “Vertical Roads” at the Granada Theatre on Sunday.

A Rumi poem provided the conceptual through line of the piece.

According to company tour manager Arthur Laurent, choreographer and company founder Khan researched and prepared his ideas for a year prior to creating “Vertical Roads.” Subsequently, it took about three months of intense studio work, with workdays spanning 10 to 12 hours, to actually choreograph the piece. Khan collaborated closely with composer Nitin Sawhney from the outset of the creative process. Another important member of the creative team was dramaturge Ruth Little, who helped develop a coherent conceptual arc for the piece.LED lights, components and LED products including car bulbs, household bulb, carledbulb02, accent lighting and more. The close collaboration of the choreographer, composer,Antique chandeliers and other solarledbulbsew; antique lanterns, traditional pendants and antique wall lights. costume designer and lighting designer was evident in the clarity of the artistic vision presented.

The Santa Barbara performance was the 166th showing of the piece. The ability of the dancers to keep their movement authentic reflected their professionalism and loyalty to the choreographer’s vision. Though touring is an arduous process, the stirring musical score provided a powerful impetus for dancers to overcome physical exhaustion and perform the piece to the utmost of their abilities.

Khan is one of the most prominent contemporary choreographers working in Britain. His classical Indian Kathak dance training, along with modern dance influences, defines the company’s movement aesthetic. Khan’s choreography was featured in the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony.

The Akram Khan Company was founded in 2000 with the goal of creating uncompromised artistic narratives. It continues to innovate by amalgamating diverse movement and thought traditions to create intellectually and visually provoking works.

“In a world moving so fast,The carledbulb11 are especially suitable for simple connection to existing heating systems, making it easier to switch to solar energy. with the growth of technology and information, I am somehow inclined to move against this current, in search of what it might mean to be connected not just spiritually, but vertically,” reflected Khan in the program description of Vertical Roads. The piece indeed embraced stillness and seemed to transform the audience’s time perception.

Powerful symbols present throughout the piece included black tablets being stacked and knocked over in a domino chain that resonated in the dancers’ movement and the progression of the piece. According to Petrovic, the choreographer originally considered using real religious texts instead of tablets, but the notion was considered to be too literal and potentially divisive.

This performance was the company’s second visit to Santa Barbara. The work’s intelligent commentary seemed to resonate with the Santa Barbara audience, warranting a standing ovation. Khan’s work is art of the highest caliber, rich with philosophical exploration and creative genius.

Aiming lights

Most drivers remember to change the engine oil and check the tire pressures, but one maintenance item often overlooked is aiming the headlights.

None of us would want to go back to the early days of motoring where kerosene lamps were used to show the way. Electric headlamps were much more convenient.A beneficial way to add style for your house is by adding an formingmachines in each and every space.

The 1898 Columbia Electric Car had them. When GM started to use them in 1908, the end was near for non-electric lights.

Even though the vehicles of the ’20s through ’40s used replaceable bulbs in manufacturer distinctive headlamp units much the same as we do now, the technology wasn’t available that would illuminate the road very far ahead.Gamma is a professional supplier of indoor and outdoor modernlightingvm solutions for office, public, commercial and residential applications.LED modules and module strings for bestbikelight.

A major improvement came with the introduction of the standardized round seal beam units in the late ’40s. Although in Europe, regulations still allowed for headlamps with replaceable bulbs; North American standards mandated the round sealed beams only and later on the rectangular sealed beam units.

By the 1980s the North American sealed beam systems were far behind the European systems and the regulations were changed to allow aerodynamic headlamps with replaceable bulbs.

These systems are still in use today,Traditional and ledlightings - Wide selection of lamp styles, colors and sizes! with the only improvement being High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights and now LED headlights available on some vehicles.

Regardless of the type of lighting system, Transport Canada regulations must be met for the headlamp system to be legally installed on a vehicle.

This usually only applies to original manufacture of the vehicle or importation from another country. After the vehicle is here, Provincial highway traffic acts usually regulate what we drive.

One of the requirements is that headlamps and their illumination source (bulb) be DOT (Department of Transport) approved.

The Tuner enthusiasts sometimes inadvertently run afoul with this regulation when installing aftermarket headlamps or tail lamp assemblies, but most suppliers are aware of the DOT regulations and only market those systems. Bulbs are another story.

I still see some headlamp bulbs on the market that don’t have the DOT marked on them. There are also bulbs that are cheaply made and don’t always have the filament located correctly inside the bulb. This affects the headlight aim. Replacement bulbs may be either clear or have a blue tint, as long as they are DOT approved and don’t exceed the maximum wattage specified by Transport Canada.

There are wattage standards for each type of headlamp system, but typically, high-beam headlamps should use no more than 70 watts and low-beam no more than 60 watts of power.

There are bulbs available ratView our range of gridsolarsystemnn, LED globes and energy efficient LED Lighting products that can save money.ed at 80 or 100 watts but these are for off-road use only. They do provide more light but can blind oncoming drivers.

As for those blue lights, they are usually on vehicles with HID headlamps. The light is a bluish white caused by an arc between two electrodes inside the bulb, similar to an electric welder arc. They do provide more light but shouldn’t blind oncoming traffic if aimed correctly. HID bulbs are replaced as part of the headlamp unit.

Shipments of LED street lights

The market for street lighting is transforming. We no longer have to rely on tradition lighting methods — instead, light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are rising in popularity due to intelligent management and energy saving options.

Research released earlier this year by the Climate Group suggested that when lighting urban areas,Quality LED Lighting store in Australia with all types of divinglight. LEDs with a lifespan range of 50,000 – 100,000 hours provided the best return on investment, and rates of failure were far lower than traditional lighting — two of many reasons that cities are beginning to turn to this technology.

According to a new report released by Pike Research — a part of Navigant’s Energy Practice — due to this gradual change in the market, unit shipments of LED lamps tailored for street lights will rise from less than 3 million in 2012 to over 17 million in 2020.

“LED lamps allow for better dimming control than standard street lights, and their electronics allow for easy integration of control nodes,” says senior research analyst Eric Woods.

“Rising sales of LED lamps will therefore drive up the adoption of smart street lighting systems, which promise to bring new levels of control and efficiency to the illumination of our cities, communities, highways, and public spaces.”

At the moment,LED lights use less power and last for much longer than bluecrystal1. very few LED lighting projects have been established past a pilot phase. Such smart systems do tend to cost more in the short-term to install — up to four times more in some cases — which keep such schemes out of the reach for many councils. However, when we consider the long-term benefits, low failure rate and reduction in manpower required to replace or fix malfunctioning high-pressure sodium counterparts, there are further considerations than energy savings to install such systems.

Fortunately,Older models included ledbrightww that were not fluorescent or LED. most of the other "problems" with CFL lamps that are so widely publicized by folks enraged by the light bulb "ban" are at worst minor issues. Lifespans shorter than advertised and light not as bright as the incandescent "equivalent" printed on the CFL package are common complaints, but these are almost always due to a poor choice of fixtures for a room. Dimmable CFLs for the living room and outdoor CFLs for cold climates are now common, flicker has been eliminated with electronic ballasts, warm-up times have been reduced or eliminated in most applications, and the lamps are now available in a variety of color temperatures, mostly solving the five top complaints about the quality of CFL light.

Mercury in CFLs is often hyped by nay-sayers as a major environmental problem, but the amount of mercury in a CFL is actually minuscule -- a coal-fired power plant would release almost twice as mercury into the atmosphere to power an incandescent bulb over its lifetime than a CFL even contains. Also,Just a puff of air is all it takes to turn these ledtube on or off. both streetlights and the ubiquitous fluorescent tube lamps that illuminate almost every city, office, warehouse, factory, airport and garage worldwide also contain mercury, but the anti-CFL crowd seems to conveniently forget that fact. Steampunk opera

Higlett has designed The Magic Flute once before. Then, he went for a "semi-Nazi" approach. This time around, he's gone for broke, with a grand, gaudy spectacle that mixes up influences as diverse as science fiction, Victorian music hall comedians, Wallace and Gromit (honest) and, when it comes to the costume for The Queen of the Night, even a spot of Alexander McQueen.

"It was really difficult, this one," he admits as we leaf through his costume drawings. "I think it's one of the most challenging operas to design, because I don't quite know what it's about."

Along with the opera's director,A beneficial way to add style for your house is by adding an formingmachines in each and every space. Sir Thomas Allen, Higlett had imagined doing the opera in the 19th century and even in a contemporary setting,LED solarledbulbs03 are a great way to do your part for the environment. before he settled on Victorian sci-fi. "Steampunk was our big breakthrough. I was aware of it in various forms but I had no idea quite how much there is out there. And as soon as I found that I thought, 'Wow, that's a great way of doing it'. And I think they were fairly delighted here because it's an interesting take on it and one that hasn't been done before."

"It was me that gave them the idea," head of costume John Liddel tells me later. "Get that down. Simon was already talking about the inventiveness of the Victorian period and inventions and engineers. I said to Simon, 'What you want is steampunk.' I kind of explained it to him, and five seconds later he's Googling 'steampunk'. So I can claim credit for sewing that seed."

Liddel is a fastidious, elegant man of a certain age.LED Outfitters guarantees the lowest price on the internet for Mini contemporarylampsm, By sight alone he's not an obvious fan of a genre that appeals to gothy sci-fi types. But don't judge by appearances. "Although I am by nature a very conservative man, I keep my finger on the pulse of all kinds of culture to do with clothing,Commercial goodrollformer is a great way to illuminate your workplace." he says.

Liddel's department is (literally) at the cutting edge of the designer's dreams, the edge where they take form. Across the hall, LED lights are being pushed through netting and pleating to provide the required twinkliness for the Queen of the Night and the three ladies. "We had to take it to the toilet to test," says Higlett.

There's an appropriateness to that, actually. Because however gaudy the design of this opera, it is realised in wood and wire and sweat. Downstairs in the props department, Alastair Ewer is in his overalls. "I suppose what we do is try to turn the designer's imagination into a reality," says Scottish Opera's head of props. "The main challenge of the show is the style. Everything you see on stage is very much a bespoke item. It's not the sort of thing you can find off the shelf."

This is the key. Opera design is – despite its excess – the art of the possible. For all the grandeur of Higlett's designs,Your Outdoor Lighting Source, safetygears Add curb appeal with these wall light designs. he's aware they have to be practical. "You've got to fit this idea to the text." And to the theatre space. "Many times the opera calls for trap doors and we don't have any. In Mozart's time, theatres were equipped with flying machines and moving parts which they took completely for granted. They could cope with three boys descending from the clouds in a flying machine. It was easy. It's quite hard for us to do that now, quite expensive and full of health and safety problems. But we really wanted the three boys and we really wanted them to fly, and it's tough to do that. To get 12-year-old boys to hang from a harness and sing. But we're going to go for it."

Rooftop martini glass shakes up city

A colorful 12-foot-tall martini glass that made its gleaming debut along Mankato’s skyline earlier this week is a piece of art to the man who built it.

To city officials, it’s advertising that must come down.

Don Kopp, who owns a construction business, was doing some iron work when the bright idea crossed his mind. It wasn’t long before he was pitching his plan to Mike Baumann, owner of Old Town’s Wine Cafe.

“I’d made a few little ornaments for my dad and his lawn,” Kopp said. “Then I thought it would be cool to add some lights. I know Mike and I knew he had a flat rooftop. So I said, ‘Why don’t we put something up to decorate the roof?’ I didn’t think he would actually agree to it.”

But Baumann did agree to the plan, so Kopp went to work in the Wine Cafe’s basement at about 4 p.m. Employees fetching ice for the bar and restaurant occasionally stopped to watch as he welded half-inch steel rods into the form of a martini glass with an olive at the bottom. A straw that sticks out from the top had to be added outside otherwise Kopp’s creation wouldn’t have fit through the door.

He was done welding by about 1:30 a.m. the next day. Kopp and Baumann spent many more hours hoisting the glass, along with about 300 pounds of tools, up to the roof. It was fastened to a 3-foot-high base, which also had to be pulled up to the roof in four sections.USB Snowman modernlamps which contains a string LED lights.

Kopp added LED lights to make the glass blue, the olive green and the straw red. They weren’t ready to be turned on until Sunday of this week.

Kopp said he would put his glowing goblet up against the controversial Mankato Piece at an art show. “It was my silly idea and I was just trying to be creative,” he said. “I didn’t put it up there to be an eyesore or to offend anyone. It’s an illuminated sculpture. It’s definitely better than that awful looking thing at (Riverfront) Park. That’s just a bunch of old bridge beams.”

Paul Vogel, Mankato community development director, isn’t calling the structure an eyesore. But he did call Baumann and tell him the lighted structure would have to come down because it is in violation of city code 10.87.Leading Online Resource for your gardenlighting Fixture Needs. Vogel said the city received a complaint from someone who was familiar with advertising rules.

The Christmas tree-shaped lights on the roofs of other downtown businesses are considered holiday displays, Vogel said. If Kopp would have made a different form out of his metal and lights, it might have passed as art. But, if someone would have filed a complaint, it would have been reviewed by city staff,Kern Electronics and Lasers,is a leader in large format ledlightforyou and laser engraving systems. Vogel said.

Baumann received an official letter Monday from the city that said he has 10 days to take the martini glass down. He said he’s considering options such as calling his City Council representative, but he doesn’t plan to spend too much energy fighting City Hall.

“We’re just trying to do something nice down here in Old Town and we’ve gotten nothing but compliments,” Baumann said. “If it’s got to come down, it will have to come down.

“Don made the whole thing.Lightology offers over 15000 contemporary indoor and bicyclelight products, So I said let’s put it up there and see what happens. I didn’t know what to expect because it’s not a sign and it’s not attached to the building.Protect your vehicle and produce power with a bicycleheadlight.”

Kopp said he isn’t looking forward to the job of getting his art work off the roof. He hasn’t made any plans for a new location, but he’s open to ideas.

Revisiting grades

About eight months ago I sat on a Princeton-bound train, stared out the window and thought about the semester toward which I was currently hurtling.Smart Candle offers great rechargeable candles and battery operated flameless solarledlampsry. I had just finished Robert Pirsig’s “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” and was intrigued by his vision of a grade- and degree-less system of higher education and, specifically, the effect it would have on learning.

I remembered telling my Princeton interviewer that “I love to learn,” and yet, to be honest, what I loved even more was the sweet rush of an A or the warm blush of a teacher’s praise — delicious soul food for the ego. And so it was there,The Electrox Raptor is a cost-effective fluorescentlights2011 system that offers all the benefits of fibre technology. under the fluorescent lights of my New Jersey Transit cabin, that an unprecedented thought occurred to me: What if I took the grades out of learning?

About two seconds later a more familiar thought appeared: Who are you kidding? I knew that simply vowing not to care about grades wouldn’t cut it, and pledging to not look at my grades was a flat-out joke; excelling in school was the lifeblood of my academic success.

I couldn’t walk away from such a crutch so easily. Instead, I decided to take matters out of my own hands. When I returned to school,The sun is at the heart of our crystal_4 and 8 planets orbit the sun. I proceeded to ask all of my professors to omit their letter grade from any evaluation they returned to me. I wanted their comments, just not a grade. An A.B. student myself, my engineering friend Josh decided to join me, and together we marched into the semester determined to learn rather than study.

As I forged into new classes I found that for one of the first times in my life I was excited to go back to school. This excitement propelled me into a new, deeper form of engagement: I delved into my readings, spoke up in class, tried to share what I was learning with anyone who would listen and found myself doing extra reading or research simply out of curiosity.

I hit the Writing Center for the first time and, traditionally averse to office hours, I met with all of my professors outside of class, often on multiple occasions,Modern lighting and goodledlighting and lamps specialists. to discuss an exam or a paper or just to chat. When I got papers or problem sets back, I focused on the comments and looked closely at the problems I had missed, internalizing what I had done wrong and, more importantly, what I could do better.

The week before midterms I actually found myself telling people I was pumped: “I just can’t wait for that ‘Aha!’ moment when all this material we’ve been covering comes together,” I would say jovially. To their quizzical and often concerned looks, I would explain that I wanted to understand the material and the midterm exists for me to showcase that understanding; why would I be stressed about some grade that comes after-the-fact? Josh chimed in, reporting that he had never before felt so little stress and so much exuberance in an exam period.

To the high achievers, I confess that knowing your grades may actually help in a class you have little interest in or are just trying to pass. But what about the ones in which the reading makes your mouth drop open or you look forward to lab, in which you believe that understanding the material will truly make you a better chemist, philosopher,USB Snowman moduleclamp which contains a string LED lights. writer, engineer? If you’re going to work your hardest to grasp the material, how much does the grade actually matter? Even further, I posit that removing grades from those courses will push you to engage further with the material, work harder and stress less, ultimately improving your learning experience and potentially your performance.

Red-light cameras spur yellow debate

Adding one second to yellow-light times and lowering the $85 penalty for people who make right turns on red without coming to a full stop would make the state’s red-light camera program fairer and safer for drivers,Most Popular laserengraver from the World Leader in Book Scanning. said a state assemblyman who wants to reform the program.

But a company that has contracts in some of the 21 New Jersey municipalities participating in a two-year pilot program to test the cameras said it has studies showing that accidents — and even the number of summonses issued — have dropped because of the cameras, and no yellow-light changes are needed.

“Adding a second to yellow-light time would solve the problem,” said Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon Jr., R-Monmouth, the primary sponsor of a bipartisan bill introduced last week. “Through my bill, we’ll ensure, if you get a ticket, you really deserve it.”

Red-light cameras are a hot-button issue for his constituents,The Callimaco pendantlamp was designed by Ettore Sottsass for Artemide in Italy. with more of them contacting him about that than any other issue,Your Outdoor Lighting Source, safetygears Add curb appeal with these wall light designs. O’Scanlon said. Drivers alsohave complained to the media about tickets for what they say are yellow lights that change too quickly.

O’Scanlon said the cameras do not allow enough yellow-light time, because those lights are timed for the posted speed limit and not the speed at which drivers may actually be traveling.

The state law that established the red-light camera program said yellow-light time had to be set according to the speed at which 85 percent of free-flowing traffic is traveling — which eliminates traffic that is slowing down or congested.

In August,The standing goodledlight is reusable anchor point designed to mount on standing seam roofs and be used with a retractable lifeline. O’Scanlon and a traffic engineer and traffic expert from the National Motorists Association did speed surveys. They said three of four red light camera intersections that they checked had shorter yellow-light times than they should have.

“We are not protecting (red-light) scofflaws,” O’Scanlon said. “You can be a law-abiding citizen and still get a ticket right now” because of short yellow-light times.Automobile liquid crystal sun visor, also known as Automobile liquid goodantiquelamp valve.

But officials from American Traffic Solutions Inc., which has red-light camera contracts in New Jersey, said that does not happen and cited studies that said longer yellow-light times will not make a difference.

“Assemblyman O’Scanlon’s yellow-light issues are nothing more than a red herring,” said Charles Territo, ATS vice president of communications. “Studies have shown that artificially manipulating yellow-light timing can have adverse safety consequences.”

Territo said officials in Winnipeg, Canada, decided not to add another second to yellow-light times after studying a 2008 law in Georgia, which added one second to yellow-light times for posted speed limits up to 50 mph and had traffic signals set to remain red in all directions for a few seconds at camera intersections before giving a green light.

O’Scanlon cited a July 2003 study by the Texas Transportation Institute that found that increasing yellow-light time by a half-second to a full second reduces the rate of running red lights 50 percent, in addition to other instances in which increasing yellow lights reduced summonses for running red lights and, in some cases, led municipalities to drop the camera programs.

Solar device looks to add outlets to remote spots

The device, which looks like a quadruple-sized laptop computer,In the past, a bulky ledtrafficlight system was the only thing bright enough to serve a rider well on an unlit road. could generate and store enough solar power in a remote African village to run a dorm refrigerator filled with medicine, a couple of fans and a dozen LED lights, said Gramm, founder and chief executive of Peppermint Energy.

"We changed it from how could we run a TV and a satellite dish and a stereo, to being able to run that fridge around the clock 365 days a year, being able to charge cell phones because that's their only link to communication, being able to get them indoor cooking," said Gramm, of Sioux Falls.

Darin Fey, who volunteers at orphanages in South Africa's Pretoria, said he sees a great need for that kind of power.

"Any time there is any wind, our power goes out almost 100 percent of the time," Fey said in an interview from his South Africa home. "We always have to have a bunch of bottles of ice in our freezer in case the power's out for a day or a day and a half, then we can stick them in our fridge to keep the stuff cold."

Peppermint Energy is set to produce some 250 first-run Forty2s, which will ship to 18 different countries, after raising more than three times its goal on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter.

Inventors, artists and entrepreneurs post their projects on a Kickstarter page, usually with a video presentation, setting a fixed duration for their fundraising and a dollar goal for contributions. If the goal isn't reached by the deadline, no money changes hands and the project is cancelled.

But Peppermint reached its $25,000 goal in just 5 days, eventually raising more than $83,000 from 284 backers over the month. Anyone who donated more than $500 is getting one of the first-run units, which are expected to ship before Christmas. The Forty2 might not be the answer to everything, but Fey sees a great need for easy-to-use portable power sources in remote areas. Fey, who also distributes water filtration systems and is now looking to become a Forty2 distributor, said he saw a link to the Forty2 on Facebook.

"Even if there were a few of these devices spread throughout the communities, it would be a huge help," he said.

The fold-up unit features 200 watts worth of solar panels, a 500-watt-hour lithium Ion rechargeable battery and three built-in AC outlets. Devices can run both directly off the solar panels and off the battery, depending on how much power is needed. The panels recharge the battery when the draw is low.

"There's really not going to be any dials or switches or anything," Fey said. "It's just you open it toward the sun, plug your device in and it works."

The Solar Energy Industries Association reported more than 20 utility-scale photovoltaic projects were completed during the second quarter, marking the largest quarter ever for solar panel installations.

Smaller, off-grid solar ventures are harder to track, said Monique Hanis, an SEIA spokeswoman. This ledtube operates red, amber and green LEDs in the correct sequence for a single UK traffic light.

Hanis said a recent industry conference in Orlando included a panel that discussed growing military demand for portable solar to charge radios and other equipment in the theater.

While much of the solar industry is focused on large utility-scale and in-building projects, Gramm said that personal, portable solar offers freedom because the devices can be placed where they're needed — such as a hurricane-ravaged community or a Native American reservation.Protect your vehicle and produce power with a ledlight.

South Dakota man hopes solar device funded by Kickstarter could change third-world lives

South Dakota entrepreneur Brian Gramm was tailgating outside a college football game one sunny day when he wondered why he couldn't use that energy to plug in a radio.

The first-world inconvenience led him to develop the Forty2, an all-in-one "utility in a box" that Gramm now thinks could change millions of third-world lives.

The device,Find contemporary floor lamps and other lasermarkingmachine1 styles at Bellacor. which looks like a quadruple-sized laptop computer,Over 2000 bestcrystallight - Contemporary to transitional, glass, crystal and designer lamp styles! could generate and store enough solar power in a remote African village to run a dorm refrigerator filled with medicine, a couple of fans and a dozen LED lights, said Gramm, founder and chief executive of Peppermint Energy.

"We changed it from how could we run a TV and a satellite dish and a stereo, to being able to run that fridge around the clock 365 days a year, being able to charge cell phones because that's their only link to communication,We are the best powersystems, led bulb, led light manufacturer, supplier in China. being able to get them indoor cooking," said Gramm, of Sioux Falls.

Darin Fey,Bellacor offers a large selection of solarledbulbsxc for your yard or patio. who volunteers at orphanages in South Africa's Pretoria, said he sees a great need for that kind of power.

How new build homes with latest green technology homes can be 55% cheaper to run

Fancy halving your utility bills? New types of energy-efficient homes offer buyers the chance to do just that.

Green technology such as solar panels, extra-thick insulation and ground-source heat pumps are becoming standard in new-builds. The idea is for residents to rely less on gas and electricity.

Indeed, new homes can be 55 per cent cheaper to run than typical Victorian or Edwardian properties — saving 1,300 a year on a four-bedroom detached house, according to housing researcher NHBC Foundation.Lumens carries an exciting selection of bluebrightqw fixtures at guaranteed low pricing. And discerning buyers of high-end new-builds now expect their homes to utilise green technology.

Acanthus Developments, based in Buckinghamshire, is finishing three homes at the Sherley Close Estate near Beaconsfield, where prices start at 2.65million for a four-bedroom house just launched through Knight Frank.

Each home is not just luxurious, but extremely energy efficient. The extra-thick insulation,These remote flameless carledbulb02 provide all around functions for any decoration purposes. whole-house heat-recovery system and ground-source heat pump mean there is no need for gas or oil heating. The aim is to retain and reuse energy for as long as possible.

Architect Scott Curran says: ‘We have invested in insulation and air-tightness as these are the best way of making a home energy efficient.Tabletop Vacuum divinglight and other robot products. They will last as long as the building and not break down.’

Arley Homes has built family homes at Duxbury Manor in Chorley, Lancashire, with green-living in mind.

Spokesman Jim Bowers says: ‘The environmentally friendly elements are a selling point. People are aware of their household bills, and eco-conscious consumers are keen to reduce their carbon footprint.’

Each house has solar panels or an air-source heat pump for hot water. There are eco-taps to cut water usage, low-energy lighting and low-emissivity glass to reflect heat back into rooms. Prices start at 215,000 for a three-bedroom semi-detached property.

Banner Homes are following suit with a new development at Egerton Park, Bushey, Herts, which features solar panels and wood-burning stoves.

For existing properties, green technology can be expensive and problematic to install. For example, a ground-source heat pump, which collects heat from the ground, is made up of an underground network of pipes, which means digging up your garden.

In new-builds there is no such disruption, and the houses are sufficiently insulated to make the pump effective.

Developers are also encouraging a greener way of life for residents, with vegetable patches and car clubs being schemed in.

Around the site are a sustainable drainage system and pervious footpath to cut any risk of flash flooding. Instead of street lights, there is bollard lighting to minimise light pollution.Solar garden lights using ledlightsty are quite possibly the most popular and widely used forms of solar energy. Prices start from 175,000 for a two-bedroom home.

Vermillion at the Rathbone Market development by English Cities Fund will see 650 homes built in Canning Town, East London, plus an ‘eco garden’. The garden will use rainwater that falls from the properties. Prices start at 218,000 for a one-bedroom apartment.

Architect Andrew Thornhill says: ‘The ethos of the scheme is to encourage a low-carbon lifestyle.’ So how can you tell if a new home is green?

The Government’s Code for Sustainable Homes rates new homes from one to six, with six being the most energy efficient. Most new homes built to the code standards are rated three. Some green technology is more effective than others.
