LED shift knob

Last week, Ford let me test the first-ever haptic shifter knob on a Shelby GT500. The elegantly simple device vibrates every time the car’s engine hits 3000 rpm, reminding the driver it’s time to change gears.

Really, it’s a more modern dash-mounted shift light some cars have to tell a driver they are holding a gear too long. The vibration is clearly noticeable, even on the GT500, and feels about the equivalent of being blown up on Call of Duty.

But this particular device also uses an LED screen on the top of the shift knob to tell you what gear the car has engaged.

Made from printed plastic, an LED screen, and the vibrating motor stolen from an Xbox 360 controller, the high-tech shifter handle was created by Zach Nelson, a Ford mechanical engineer who has been working on the company’s new Open XC program.

Open XC allows developers to connect to Ford cars and trucks through the car’s diagnostic port and read real-time data about the car via a Bluetooth connection.

Once the device, slightly larger than a pack of cigarettes, is connected to the port, Nelson could read dozens of data points on a Bluetooth-enabled touch pad.

“I only needed three data points for this device, the car’s engine speed, vehicle speed and what gear it is in,” he said.

But lots more information is available. If Nelson wanted to, he could make the shifter knob change colors to match the LCD interior lighting, which on the Mustang can be one of five colors. The shifter knob can also be set to provide guidance on how to drive more efficiently or how to extract maximum performance.

I, however, could not tell which mode we were in during my short drive,We provide the latest oemandodmservices products and solutions to serve outdoor lighting needs. since I was simply trying to get the revs high enough to make the device buzz again. You can add the hidkits and fluorescent kits to your car, truck, motorcycle, boat etc. It worked flawlessly.

“This could be used to help drivers keep their eyes on the road and might even help teach some people to drive a stick,” Nelson said. For vehicles that has the carledlighting that also function as turn signal lights.

Indeed. But more importantly, the shifter knob demonstrates how agile the new program Ford created is and how the open-source philosophy creates a new kind of collaboration for an automaker.

Whereas in the past a device like this may have cost millions and taken years to build, Nelson began developing this shifter handle in earnest three months ago.

“There is really this great group engagement,” Nelson said, “where you can see what people are doing and work together.”

Ford has not said whether the vibrating shifter knob will ever go into production but the plans to make them will be available on OpenXC’s site.

“Based on the nature of open source tools, our goal is to provide innovation such as the haptic shift knob to the open source community,” said Craig Daitch, a Ford spokesman.

Computer programmers and software developers have a long tradition of sharing information and creating platforms where crowdsourcing and testing make a program better.

Automakers, however,We have the ultra laundrdryer that you have been looking for. have traditionally held all of this information very close to their vests, relying on either in-house talent or contractors to create new technology. Now, nearly anyone can contribute.

What Ford has done is give developers easy access to a lot of the information cars create so they can find interesting things to do with the info. It’s worth noting the device does not control the vehicle, but rather allows access to that information. It’s the difference between knowing the gas pedal is pushed 19 percent down and being able to push the gas pedal down 19 percent.Lighting fixtures for home and office in the shop of flatteningmachine.

LED products

When Cowboys Stadium debuted its 160-foot-by-72-foot Diamond Vision HD display in 2009, the Dallas NFL team owner Jerry Jones’ pride and joy was hailed as a technological marvel. Learn how hidxenonkits use gas and the amount it takes to power these lights.

Ask Larry Martin about the record-breaking screen, however, and he’ll tell you that it’s just OK.

“It still has some color issues,” Martin said. “If you look closely,This factsheet discusses electricity generation using bestsolarcharger at your farm or your home. you’ll notice that it has overbloomed reds and oversaturated blues.”

Martin should know. As the head of Reno startup Innovolux, lighting and displays are Martin’s area of expertise.

Once a music studio builder who worked with the likes of the Eagles; Ike and Tina Turner; and Crosby, Stills and Nash,To buy autoledbulbs lamp in the USA. Martin ended up at his current gig after meeting Art Yeap in 2005. How ledtubes works and how to choose the perfect laser engraver.

It didn’t take long for Martin to hit it off with Yeap,Ecived is a leading provider drycleaningmachiness for hospitals and various other markets. an expert in LED displays who once did lighting research and development in the ’70s for Hewlett-Packard Research Labs.

By November 2012, both found themselves forming Innovolux, with Martin serving as CEO and Yeap as co-founder and principal stock owner.

Martin describes their company as a “think tank” that specializes in the production of custom applications for LED projection display and lighting products.

LEDs, however, are just the tip of the technology iceberg that both partners are working on, with their to-do list also including things such as earbuds and microphones.

“We have 58 products, eight of which are LED products with three of those being developed enough to market,” Martin said. “We solve problems, so most of our products come from a need that requires something that doesn’t exist in the market.”

For large-scale LED displays alone, the market can be equally massive, Martin said.

This year, the market for large wall displays is pegged at 3.6 million units for indoors and 645,000 outdoors. With the industry growing at about 23 percent per year compounded, the multibillion-dollar sector is expected to hit 15 million displays within five or so years, Martin said.

Although Innovolux counts around 12 customers for its wall display installs so far, the company is looking at a new technology it developed as its ticket to profitability. The technology involves a processor scaler that allows users to fine tune their displays without having to replace the actual screen.

This includes adjusting brightness and improving the picture quality of already installed displays, a game changer for customers who don’t want to go through the trouble and expense of replacing the entire screen for say, a giant 160-foot-by-72-foot LED display at a certain stadium in Texas.

“We can take that screen at Cowboys Stadium, install our processor and improve the picture quality,” Martin said. “It doesn’t matter what display you’ve got, our processor will work with it.”

The ability to make improvements on existing walls is especially important when dealing with municipalities that have passed ordinances against displays that are too bright. By using the processor, such displays can be brought down to an acceptable brightness level without replacing the screen.

The processor even can be used to make outdoor displays work as indoor displays. This is important in the industry because outdoor displays typically are cheaper than indoor displays, Martin said. Click on their website www.careel-laser-engraving-machine.com for more information.

The Portland Electric Run Recap

Electric Run came to Portland, OR this last Saturday night on July 13, 2013. The run was on the back roads of the Portland International Raceway 1940 North Victory Blvd. Portland, OR 97217. This race teamed with FitRight NW, and we were able to pick up our packet at the 1st Thursday Run (very convenient!) the race packet was ok- but the shirt was Tiny! I have been losing weight and the XL for female was very tight on me at 150 and my husband's XL shirt was HUGE! We liked the LED bracelets though- but we never wore the glasses.

Day of race I got to pull out my new Neon Running Shirt by Race Center, and Running shorts and try them on a different kind of a run. I put my heair up in pigtails and donner super bright neon eyeshadow and my LEd glasses, LED gloves, and hair ties. I was dissapointed one of my hair ties was DOA from Amazon /sigh. Soon we were off to the race.

This was a heavily marketed event in our area, generator prepositive design which wind drive the streetlamp without gears. and the video looked amazing and the music was my kind of music! I could not resist! I signed up under the lure of his fun premise of neon lights, and fun music. They were looking for 10,000 runners, and wow- I don't know if they hit 10k, but they sure had a lot of racers. The run was supposed to start at 9:20, but did not start till after 9:30 (think they were looking for more darkness) and we were near the front of the line and started at 9:50pm, when it was barley light out. However,Manufacturer of quality off lasermarker, light bars and wiring accessories. by then we were anxious to get going!

We arrived at 7:30pm like they recommended and the crowd was quite substantial by then. We visited a few of their booths (Rock Star and selling Electric Gear, and a Radio Station) enjoyed some costumes characters, and lined up near what we thought was the front. At about 8:30 they opened the section up that led to the Start line and participants filled in. They tried to keep us entertained with music (good music in my opinion – Euro dance electric beat) and beach balls were hit up and around the area but it was still a little boring and somewhat hot out. Luckily we had a group we were with (Hi Arlene, Jason, Aly, and Lydia!) and we passed the time until we were finally off. Our friends were walking, and my husband and I were running- so we left them behind.

Did I mention thousands of participants? Well not all of them were runners, many were walkers,We provide laundryequipments and engraving machines for processing different materials. and they were all spread out. I imagine that about 3 waves were off before our wave started, and it was quite congested. My thoughts though- were this was – as a friend mentioned 'not a real race' so the congestion did not bother us. We weaved and would find sections we could sprint through. There was no chip timing, so it didn't matter. It was still light out when we first started, but soon we came to the first light up area with music.

They had huge blow up arches that lasted for a 1/3rd or more of a mile with music. After that section, we noticed they had several sections of dark areas along gravel road.The solarstreetlightt0 is not only critical to professional photographers. (I dislike running on gravel- much more so running in the dark on gravel road. I saw a few people take a tumble off the sides where they tried to go around, not noticing there was a slight hill and some just stumbling on the gravel. However,Search our homeenergy catalog for designer frames including. there were numerous lit up areas- just aesthetically beautiful!

There was a section with Umbrellas in the trees. Some were upside down with colors, some just white against the black light- and a section where you could take pictures. There were several places to take pictures along the way- which is great for a fun run and felt sort of like Disney as I started to look for them and get excited when I saw one coming up! The next section was more arches and columns, soon followed by an aid station. There was only one during the race- but it was lit up Neon! After that - the next section was gorgeous! Lanterns in a lake and tons of glowing balls and lit up trees. I felt like I was in Alice and Wonderland. More dark sections and we noticed we were on or way back. Better policies would allow hydropower

The issue of wind turbine downtime can be compensated by hydropower but only with the correct policy and regulations, found researchers at Pennsylvania State University.

At present, wind is the fastest growing renewable energy source in the United States. The United States Department of Energy recently found that the country could produce 20 percent of its electricity from wind by 2030.

But because Americans want low-cost electricity and expect things to continue working without blackouts, full reliance on wind is impossible as there are times when the winds suddenly cease blowing or blows to hard causing operators to shut down the turbines. Researchers at Penn State said that viable options that can back wind energy up are natural gas and hydropower, but because natural gas is not carbon neutral, hydropower is the clear and greener choice.

As part of their case study, the researchers studied the Kerr Dam in North Caroline and found that the power produced from the dam goes into the PJM segment of the electrical grid. The PJM segment includes Pennsylvania through Virginia in the East Coast, west to Indiana and the Chicago area. Due to agreements made before the establishment of the PJM market. The Kerr Dam also supplies other local outlets.

The researchers noted that the Kerr Dam can accommodate the unexpected variations in wind energy, but the problem is that hydroelectric dams cannot simply release water to meet the demand for electricity when wind energy suffers a downtime. This is because water dams operate using guide curves that are based on a one-week weather forecast and consider factors such as electric production, drinking water needs,We carry the latest wind turbines, daytimerunninglights, solar panels, towers and more! irrigation, fish, and wildlife requirements.

To allow hydropower to come in when wind energy falls, the researchers suggest that instead of a guide curve requirement of one week,Advance LED Replacement Bulbs, LED T8 Tubes, ledturninglamping and other LED lighting products are highly efficient.China hidlightses manufacturer supply elevator light curtain, it should be two weeks. The researchers also determined that if the price of the electricity was changed in such a way that backing up wind is more lucrative, hydropower plants can pledge their electricity to make up for wind energy, instead of selling the excess on the spot market.

The president’s emphasis on renewable energy is “a big winner for Iowa,” said Howard Learner, executive director of the Environmental Law & Policy Center in Chicago. In addition to being a major wind energy producer, Iowa also has become a hub for turbine manufacturing, from spinning blades to nuts and bolts. Opening more public land to wind generation should keep those plants running strong, he said.

“To the extent that the president’s climate action plan moves forward, that’s good for more wind power developments in Iowa, that’s good for job creation, that’s good for economic growth and it’s good for the environment,” Learner said.

Neila Seaman, director of the Sierra Club’s Iowa Chapter, echoed the president’s argument that the plan moves the country as a whole closer to a “clean energy economy,” in which new technologies create new jobs that more than offset those lost in the transition.

“We’re not trying to put anybody out of business,While there are many brands and makes of bicyclelight, they are all basically the same in principle and function.” Seaman said.Creating a washerextractor0 out of broken re-used solar cell pieces. “We think there will be enough green jobs resulting from this plan today that I’m not sure the critics would have good argument against it.” Click on their website www.careel-tech.com for more information.
