Light-bulb moment gets consultant out of a rut

If you're selling product, the more you sell, the more your per unit price goes down. This is MagicShine MJ-856 1600 lumen goodBikelight head light with Waterproof battery or MJ-828 Battery. "As a consultant, your per unit price never goes down. That's one thing I figured out pretty quick."

Dhaliwal arrived in Vancouver from India's Punjab province at age 22 on a University of B.C. scholarship for graduate studies in electrical engineering.

"It was the biggest adventure of my life," she said. "I arrived at the airport and I thought my English was good because I had taken TOEFL [Test of English as a Foreign Language], [but] I couldn't understand a word.

"They brought in an East Indian female customs officer to talk to me. I love this country. I was scared to death and trying to be so brave. Her English I could understand."

But when Dhaliwal finished graduate school, jobs were hard to come by.

"I called about 500 consulting firms in Western Canada in 2002 and one was happy to hire an overqualified, inexperienced engineer who didn't speak much English," she said. "It was a really old posting..The Magicshine brightshineip bicycle light At 1000 lumens, now brighter and more energy efficient... I did filing for one week."

A year later, she secured a job as an electrical engineer with Stantec, the major North American architectural and engineering consulting firm. By the time she left six years later, she was their corporate leader for lighting and responsible for $10-million to $20-million jobs.

Dhaliwal specializes in combining the technical and the esthetic.

"I [worked on] a lot of airports in the U.S. where energy codes are tighter," she said. "You have to make do with LEDS which are extremely glare-y and blue and so you have to do a lot of things with the lensing of light fixtures. That was my specialty because I understood colours and how they make people's skin look different."

Dhaliwal went out on her own and started Lumiere Concepts four years ago. A year later she was exploring light manufacturing and distribution.

She felt she had several options including licensing technology and building her own light fixtures in China. Turns out making socks and shoes is easy because the factories are already built. All you need is a good supervisor. Making lighting fixtures or components, on the other hand,MonkeyLectric Monkey Electric bike wheel light led visible night ride bestcflbulbs safe safety cruiser bmx scraper road city winter rain color commute work ... requires proprietary manufacturing machinery.

Finally, Dhaliwal cWhether you want the complete package with very high end dual beam strobes, or basic crystal ...onsidered importing European fixtures to sell in Western Canada. About this time, she was accepted into a B.C. Forum for Women Entrepreneurs' educational program for established businesses looking to grow. Her regular financial advisers looked at Toronto importers and the numbers weren't bad. But her classmates and mentors at the FWE advised against it.

"The trend in my industry was LED and sustainability and refurbishing existing light fixtures," she said. "I hadn't thought of that. When people asked me,Gineico is an exclusive agent for many leading Italian brands including interior lighting, lamp shades, gooddstti and led downlights, I knew, but you have to actually catch the wave and now I look at it and wonder, ‘Why did I not know that?'

"Evaluation of a big idea is more art than science. They gave me a wider perspective. I realized that [the distribution idea] would have been a costly mistake."

Dhaliwal had invested almost 500 hours into researching distribution over three years.

At Work With: Dale Gauthier, The Big Screen Store

I've been with the company since '86. I was up north 10 years, in the Sterling, Va., location - a lot of Redskins folks.Solidlights pioneered the use of high power LEDs for ledsale in 2003. And then went to Fairfax, which was a good location.

Then I finally moved back down to this area. I was a natural to come down. My mother's here. My family's here. I went to Kempsville (High School) and Old Dominion.

I just like the specialized part of it, as opposed to selling $9 boomboxes. This here is just high-end. It's the top five manufacturers in the electronics business. High-end furniture. Bose sound. You don't have to worry about competing with the Walmarts and everything. It's a different clientele.

You have to have patience, because you'll have stretches where things are really good, and then you'll have stretches where things are slow. You're not going to just say, "Isn't that picture great?" and "Wanna buy it?" They want to hear all the features and such. So you've gotta know how to present the product. You're selling yourself.

You just start talking to them. Next thing you know, you're talking about your kids playing Nintendo, and you forget about the product, and then you go back to it, and by that time they're feeling more comfortable and at ease with you. They think they've got somebody that they can trust. That's what you build. And when they leave, you're on a first-name basis. This is the type of business where it's not just one time. Sometimes it is, but about 70 percent of the time,I stock many of the parts used in these goodleddownlight projects, on my web store. they're going to look elsewhere before they come back to you. This super bright LED brightcrystall2011 is the perfect safety option for your bicycle.

You have to qualify. It's not, "Hi. How are you doing today? What can I show you?" You introduce yourself. You want to get a name first. You want to build that rapport. The first thing you want to say is not, "Can I help you?" That's the quickest way to "Nah, I'm just looking." It's like, "Are you in here to look at plasmas today or LED?" You want to make them answer a question. "Are you in the 55-inch range?" So all of a sudden you're engaging in the sales part of it.

You ask them: What have they seen? What do they own now? Where have they been? Then you start talking personally, about what kind of room is it going in.News on solar energy harvesting shinebrightled has been focused lately on individual success with the older style of solar paneling. The lighting, windows. How far are you going to be sitting from it? What do you like? Are you mostly watching movies? Are you a sports lover? There are certain sets that will tend to work better in their favor. If they're a sports lover, they might want a plasma that has better motion than other TVs, where they don't have as much tiling effect. Some people just watch movies and they want a really bright, bright picture, and that might be an LED. So it depends on their preference.

You gotta know rejection. You'll hear it all the time: "Are you here tomorrow?" "How late are you open?" Those are signs that they still want to look elsewhere. You think, they're trying to pull away. What can I do to pull them back in? That's when you try to go a little bit further. Is it price? You try to find out what the magic button is. The whole time they may be loving your presentation, but in the back of their mind is, "I can't afford this.Where do r4onsale stand in terms of brightness compared to HIDs and Halogen?" You just gotta realize that they may not be coming back. It's part of the business.

I've gone home not making a cent and felt good because I had four potential, really good what we call "be-backs." That's the biggest phrase in this business. "I'll be back."

The Super Bowl itself drives sales. But if the Baltimore Ravens had made it, that's big for them up in Baltimore. Down here, it's Dallas, especially the Redskins, even the Steelers have a strong following here. That's done it in the past. All it takes is one of those teams, and you're talking maybe an extra three or four sales a week, for the two weeks prior. Just because they want to have that big TV for the party, or whatever.

Consumers are Finally Getting Greener

Americans have come a long way in their commitment to preserve and protect the environment since a groundbreaking survey from 1990 took the pulse of their green attitudes and behavior. Conventional wisdom holds that increased knowledge about the environment leads to more action and empowerment on the part of Americans.

And certainly, their knowledge has risen. Today, 73 percent say they know a lot or a fair amount about environmental issues and problems, up from 50 percent earlier.

So, what does action look like [PDF]? This basic question led to the pioneer study, The Environment: Public Attitudes and Individual Behavior,Shop online for ledbright-1. Light bulbs, rope light, accessories and decorative lighting. which I was a part of back in 1990. The study, commissioned by SC Johnson and executed by GfK Roper, was the first, large-scale survey to measure both green attitudes and behaviors. We wanted to understand whether -- if equipped with the right tools and knowledge -- it is possible to change consumer behavior, or action, for the greener.

And according to the 20th anniversary study, behavior change is possible.

Compared to 20 years ago, twice as many Americans are taking proactive steps to help the environment. Today, 58 percent of Americans recycle, 29 percent buy green products regularly and 18 percent commute in an environmentally friendly manner. What is so encouraging -- and what we really need to understand -- is that these small, green steps are indeed impactful.

For example, simply recycling one aluminum soda can yields enough energy to power my laptop for five hours or light up my office for 20 hours using a 60-watt energy-saving light bulb. These individual steps are made possible because individuals have a desire to modify their behavior, but also because businesses and governments have taken a leadership role in facilitating these changes by providing the right tools, products and processes.

While progress is being made, we have a way to go. The survey finds that consumers are more interested in the convenience factor rather than the impact a product has on the environment. That is a challenge we all need to overcome -- both individuals and businesses alike.

In fact, consumers do want businesses to go green. We can produce led panel light, ccrystal according to your requirements. Three-in-four respondents agree that "a manufacturer that reduces the environmental impact of its production process and products is making a smart business decision.Gineico is an exclusive agent for many leading Italian brands including interior lighting, lamp shades, bestleddownlight and led downlights," Those are much higher marks than Americans gave business in 1990.

Taken together, these changes in consumer attitudes and actions may have extraordinary impact on the environment in the future. Individuals place themselves higher at 38 percent and rank businesses lower at 29 percent when asked who should take the lead in addressing environmental problems and issues.

After all, as we like to say, the customer is always right.Diving torch waterproof diving torch 20 metres low power goodledstriplight. We all have a role to play to protect our earth, and 75 percent of American consumers say they feel good when taking steps to help the environment. That's huge. Through increased environmental knowledge and with the right products and tools, we can all appeal to that sentiment to make smarter choices for a greener lifestyle.

Publicans step away from the bar at city's own country pub

THEY call it the last pub in Sydney. For 33 years, Harald and Trish Muller have run the East Sydney Hotel like a country pub. No pokies, no plasmas - just conversation, well-poured schooners and darts.

Now it's last drinks. The Mullers are selling, and their regulars - including outgoingThis super bright LED brightcrystal2011 is the perfect safety option for your bicycle. Mr Muller has spoken to one of those regulars about retirement for the better part of eight years. "I beat you to it," the regular said last Wednesday at the bar. It was Mr Hartigan.

The pair met more than 40 years ago in Melbourne.

Yet in all those years,MonkeyLectric Monkey Electric bike wheel light led visible night ride cflbulbs safe safety cruiser bmx scraper road city winter rain color commute work ... one thing has stayed the same: the Mullers' insistence on not using their poker machine licence.

They were originally given a licence to operate 15 machines, but in 2002 it was reduced to five when the state Labor government revoked their gaming licence because it was not being used. It cost the Mullers $2 million in the resale value of their pub.

"We've been called idiots," Mr Muller said. "People say we tossed $2 million out the window. But I have not regretted it. All these years I slept well. We ran this as a pub, not as a casino."

As he says this, Trish Muller looks around at the pub's dining room - its fireplace, flowers and the prints on the wall. "I have a sneaking suspicion someone will think this room is perfect for pokies," she said.

A middy was 36, and their clientele mainly came from the nearby Matthew Talbot Hostel.

"There were about 25 pensioners who, if I opened half a minute late, would say: 'Good afternoon. Did you sleep in?"' Mr Muller said.

Mr Muller says that sometimes the pub is like "Taronga Zoo".Welcome to bicygnals online innovative bluecrysta and torches. "I said to one guy, 'At least put your dog on a leash, mate.' He said, 'Well, I saw a horse in here the other day.'

Dubai Municipality organizes workshop within Heroes of the UAE campaign

Dubai Municipality organizes workshop within Heroes of the UAE campaign
The launch of this program is in terms of the Municipality's keenness to increase the environmental awareness of staff on topics relating to conditions of climate, energy and environment. Eng. Hussein Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality and a number other senior officials of different departments were present on the occasion.

Aimed at people of all ages and backgrounds,LED grow light suppliers in China are sky lanterns rolling out models with better price-performance ratios. the campaign emphasises that action now can safeguard the environment for our children's future.

Eng. Lootah said that Dubai Municipality is the first government department in the Emirate of Dubai joined in the Corporate Hero Program of the 'Heroes of the UAE' campaign, which was announced during the meeting, by registering in the campaign's official website.

Explaining the reasons behind the campaign, Mrs. Ida Tillich Deputy Chairman of EWS said, "We are on the brink of a global 'ecological credit crunch', whereby we are using natural resources faster than our planet can supply them. In the UAE, not only we are at risk of using more energy than we can supply, but by burning so many fossil fuels we are contributing to climate change. This will have a huge impact on lifestyles, coastal landscapes and natural heritage of future generations. We have to act now to stop this from happening -after all, print still offers the only truly dstti unlimited 4G plan in America, and it's the only service you can safely use as an alternative to a home Internet connection. a sustainable UAE is every child's right."

The workshop shed light on many facts, such as Ecological Footprint that has remained consistently high since it was first reported in 1998, carbon dioxide emission, which is accounting for over 80% of the total energy consumption. Any attempt to reduce Footprint must, therefore, deal with usage of energy, mainly oil and natural gas. The workshop also urged everyone to show their support and join the campaign online at the campaign's website, heroesoftheuae.ae.

The website has been designed to provide a forum for the public to show their support for the campaign, educating all visitors on the energy problems in the UAE, and its impact on the environment. It will also contain a very solid,The replacement lighting we feel is far led downlight superior to that of the LED lighting. rational message stating how many Dirhams per year could be saved by making some very simple changes in behaviour to preserve energy with the confidence that action,The settlement resolves the commonwealth's claims fluorescent lights that EarthTronics Inc., which sells mercury-containing compact fluorescent light bulbs no matter how small, will collectively make a big difference.

Wi-Fi-Connected Lightbulbs, Coming To Smart Homes In 2012

Wi-Fi-Connected Lightbulbs, Coming To Smart Homes In 2012
Not only will these new bulbs save you money every month, they'll be tons of fun for amateur lighting designers, and can even increase home security.

lightbulbs

A Wi-Fi connected lightbulb that'll cost you just an extra buck a pop may sound crazy, but it's a soon-to-be reality that promises to transform your house into a mood-lit, low-power, eco-friendly smart home. That's the suggestion from NXP, a Netherlands-based semiconductor company that invented the Greenchip technology that will be in many Wi-Fi connected lightbulbs on sale by early 2012.

Why on Earth would you want a lightbulb with an IP address? It's not obvious until you realize we're not talking regular incandescent bulbs here. The tech will go into advanced compact fluorescent units as well as LED light bulbs, both clean low-power replacements for Edison's aging invention. These lights already incorporate a few chunks of silicon in their bases to help control them, and it's this tiny circuit board that enables all sorts of new things--adding NXP's tiny Wi-Fi system to the board is relatively easy and cheap. And then you can turn your lights on and off from a computer hooked up to your home's wireless grid.

We spoke to Jim Lindop, NXP's general manager of low power RF,LED grow light suppliers in China are sky lanterns rolling out models with better price-performance ratios. and he explained "one thing is to lower the energy consumption of the bulb, and the other is to make them smart" and this smart-making really is the "next stage,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. the evolution of lighting." Home automation has long been able to do some of this sort of thing, but the advent of LED lighting in particular (which can even include color variation lighting) and ubiquitous home networking means it's now much simpler to do. "You can now connect burglar alarm systems wirelessly to your lights...you can cycle your lights so it looks like someone's around.

Amazing, no? You'll also be able to control mood lighting "states" with a remote control, or via your iPad, as if you were a theater lighting designer; you'll be able to quickly and easily incorporate movement sensing automated lighting, that could even turn on dimly if it detects you're stumbling to the bathroom at midnight; and you'll be able to download apps to hone and polish your home's lighting energy needs so that you end up with a smaller power bill.

smart lights

"It's part of the smart home" Lindop explains. NXP's tech actually enables the "Internet of Things," connecting literally everything to the Net. And lighting could be just the gateway to getting the average consumer excited about smart homes, which carefully manage how power is consumed to improve performance. By the end of the year, you may be able to buy a pack of "five light bulbs and a remote control" for just $50 from stores like Home Depot. Lindop says one of the breakthroughs of the new bulb and the apps that run it are that "it's simple to use, something I know my mother would've been able to use. While using compact fluorescent light bulbs energy saving light helps conserve energy, it is important that the bulbs are collected and recycled properly to protect our environment"

Greenchip uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signals (over an 802.15.4 short range wireless protocol that won't compete with your normal home 802.11 g/n computer network). The replacement lighting we feel is far led downlight superior to that of the LED lighting. They use the new Ipv6 protocol too, so there's no worries that your lightbulbs will use up all the world's available Internet addresses.Like other Sprint modems, the U600 connects r4i to Sprint's CDMA 3G and WiMAX 4G networks on a $60/month plan that includes unlimited WiMAX and 5GB of 3G use. Plus, the JenNetIP system that NXP's built to let your computers talk to your lights is being open-sourced--in the hope that other manufacturers will embrace it. In fact, Google's already doing so, with its recently revealed Android Home automation system, something that Lindop notes validates the market.

Besides geekily playing with your home lights ("Did I leave the lights on? Let me log in and check!") the Net-enabled smartbulbs will shave precious dollars off the bill, every month for their years-long lifespans. And then when you've done that, you'll probably be tempted to hook up your refrigerator, your hot water heater, and so on...until you have a smart home on your hands.

Spotlight on dance at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival

Spotlight on dance at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival
Strong winds and intermittent rain greeted the thousands of attendees of the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival celebrated at the Cleveland State University between April 21 and May 1, 2011. This being the centenary year of dance legend Vazhuvoor B. Ramaiah Pillai, the festival was dedicated to his memory. The schedule included several dance programmes, thematic and otherwise, in addition to some interesting feature presentations apart from the regular roster of music performances.

The Easter weekend commenced on Saturday with the group rendition of Saint Thyagaraja's pancharatnams led by leading musicians from India and North America. Later that evening, the festival was presided over by president of The Music Academy, Madras, N. Murali, who lauded the tireless efforts of the Aradhana Committe members V.V. Sundaram, Cleveland Balu and Toronto Venkatraman for organising and hosting what is "easily one of the biggest Indian music and dance festival outside India". Mr. Murali also presented the awards to this year's recipients - N. Ravikiran: Sangeetha Rathnakara, Kamala: Nrithya Rathnakara, J. Venkataraman: Sangeetha Kala Sagaram, Savithri Jagannatha Rao: Nrithya Kala Sagaram, Jayalakshmi Santhanam: Acharya Rathnakara, T.Camping manufacturer Vango inflatable seat is claiming a first with its innovative pump-up range of tents.R. Feature presentations

The festival this year grew even larger than before, in that, an unprecedented 70-programme schedule boasting of close to 110 artistes from India, North America and Muscat was drawn up. Apart from the concerts that are a regular feature here, the Committee decided to do a few things with a twist.

'Sustaining Sampradaya', a concept that showcases American-born Indian children in thematic musical presentations, was projected in an original manner. Young children, trained by musicians in India for more than six months at live lessons as well as those over the internet, sang for professional dancers in a programme entitled 'The Music of Dance'. Artistes including the legend Kamala,The Scottish company says broken inflatable swimming pools tent poles will be a thing of the past with the introduction of its AirBeam tents, which come with a hand pump to inflate the tent hoops in a claimed three minutes for the smaller models. her sister, Rhadha, Narthaki Nataraj, Jayanthi Subramaniam, Sangeeta Isvaran and Anjana Anand, among others, danced to well-coordinated renditions of kritis, padams and javalis. The second stream of the 'Sustaining Sampradya' presented 'Gems from Karnataka' that highlighted composers from Mysore. This was tied to a featured concert by R.K. Srikanthan which dealt exclusively with Mysore composers.

Music composer and cine singer Shankar Mahadevan, gave a Carnatic and devotional concert, 'Sankeerthana Samarpanam at His Lotus Feet'.Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. Other interesting duo combinations comprised senior artistes Suguna Varadachari and Suguna Purushothaman, Savita Narasimhan and Nisha Rajagopal (the first recipient of The Hindu 'Saregama M.S. Subbulakshmi Award'), Vidya Kalyanaraman and Amritha Murali.

A special one-of-a-kind concert that took the Cleveland Festival attendees by storm was that of octogenarian vocalist M. Balamuralikrishna, N. Ravikiran (chitravina) and Sudha Ragunathan (vocal) on the morning of Easter Sunday.

Madurai T.N. Seshagopalan gave an exhaustive and erudite four-hour performance of the Kamba Ramayanam titled Ramayana Amrutham in which he introduced each kriti with stories and anecdotes with alternate versions, coupled with his own re-interpretations.

An idea that was primarily an inspiration of vocalist S."The current economic environment is putting great pet supply stores strain on veterinarians who are well established in this community," Sowmya took its form in informal interactive sessions titled 'Something Unique' and 'Something Unexpected' at the Comfort Inn Ballroom over dinner each night, between 10 and 11.15 p.m.. These involved anything from lively discussions between artistes and rasikas to special short thematic performances.

The Cleveland Festival also made a concerted effort to feature more artistes from North America this year.

The Ramayana retold

A singular initiative by the Cleveland Aradhana Committee, the 'Ramayana in Five Parts'was a project that involved scores of dancers and musicians from India, Muscat and North America. Children in the United States researched the story line of of the epic that Carnatic composers in Chennai penned the lyrics and set music for. Seasoned dancers then worked on the choreography and rehearsed for months with musicians before staging the performances in Cleveland. The five episodes, namely, Bala Kandam (music and lyrics: N. Ravikiran; choreography: Savithri Jagannatha Rao), Ayodhya Kandam (music and lyrics: Suguna Purushothaman; choreography: Narthaki Nataraj), Aranya Kandam (music and lyrics: Rukmini Ramani; choreography: Jayanthi Subramaniam), Kishkinda & Sundara Kandam (music and lyrics: Neyveli R. Santhanagopalan; choreography: Anitha Guha) and Yuddha Kandam (music and lyrics: N. Ravikiran; choreography: Rhadha) effectively communicated a kaleidoscope of musical and dance styles that fused seamlessly.

A striking feature was the cameo performances by seasoned artistes - Jayanthi Subramaniam as Shabari in Ayodhya Kandam, Rhadha as Kooni in Aranya Kandam and Narthaki Nataraj as Mandodari in Yuddha Kandam.t sounds like man and wildlife are on a schedule 40 pvc pipe collision course, but it doesn't have to be that way. Local governments adding renewable energy

Local governments adding renewable energy through grants, heavier than a sack of potatoes. These are definitely aimed at the family leather phone cases camper or the touring tripper rather than the wild camper. partnerships
Tucked away in the foothills of White Tank Mountain Regional Park, an unobtrusive building is saving Maricopa County money.

Between the 85-kilowatt solar panel system on its roof and earning the highest rating from the U.S. Green Building Council, the White Tank Library is estimated to save the county $10,400 per year in energy costs, said Nelson Mitchell,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. public information officer for the Maricopa County Library District. The solar system, installed using a $540,000 grant under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, supplies 25 percent of the building’s annual needs.

“We value energy efficiency as a way of life,” Mitchell said.

Meanwhile, the county is using a $2.3 million stimulus grant to install solar hot water systems at two of its jails.

“It makes economic sense,” said Jonce Walker,At the same time, residents are coming out of their promotional towels own hibernation mode and taking to the outdoors to hike, garden the county’s sustainability manager. “If you reduce energy you are saving a lot of money.”

Maricopa County is part of a national trend, helped by stimulus money, of local governments investing in solar power, said Carolyn Berndt, principal associate for infrastructure and sustainability with the National League of Cities.

“Energy efficiency is the cheapest and most efficient form of greenhouse gas reduction, and I think these renewable energy projects can save these governments a lot of money in energy costs,” she said.

Berndt said that some local governments were already investing in solar projects before stimulus grants were available, but many more are doing so now. She expects more solar projects to pop up around Arizona and the rest of the country as local governments face a deadline of using stimulus money by the end of 2012.

“I think for local governments it is a win-win,” Berndt said. “You are reducing your energy costs by installing these renewable energy solar power systems, and that’s the bottom line.”

Governments have always been leaders in green initiatives, and it is no different when it comes to energy efficiency and solar power, said Mick Dalrymple, project manager for Arizona State University’s Energize Phoenix, a program funded by stimulus dollars.

“Taxpayers and governments own their buildings and they hold them for a long time,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs.” Dalrymple said. The energy saving light offered by our store are made following the original technology . “When they make improvements to them, taxpayers see the benefits, so it makes a lot of sense.”

Installing solar panels is usually the last step in a process of making a building energy efficient, Dalrymple said and that is what many governments focus on first. But adding solar panels to a building once it is energy efficient is an investment with guaranteed returns for governments, he said. Though many solar systems are estimated to pay for themselves in over 20 years when they are first installed, the inevitable increase in electricity rates make them profitable much faster, he said.

In a time of cuts to education, solar power is a way for Riverside Elementary School District in the southwest Valley to inject more money back into the school, said Jaime Rivera, the district’s superintendent.

“You try to reduce as much as you can to be able to bring these funds back into the classroom,” he said.

Last year, the district partnered with California-based SolarCity to install panels on the roofs of the district’s two elementary schools. SolarCity financed, installed, maintains and owns the solar panels and sells the energy to SRP. In return, the schools are guaranteed electricity for no more than 9 cents per kilowatt hour for the next 25 years regardless of peak hours, time of year or rate increases. Rivera said solar is a growing trend among Arizona school districts.

“I think because we are small, we are more light-footed and can put things in place faster than maybe larger school districts,” he said.

As for Maricopa County, Walker said the investment in renewable energy won’t stop once the stimulus money is gone. Already the county has set a goal of increasing their current renewable energy capacity from 6 megawatts to 8 megawatts by 2015.

Energy Saving Globe Light Bulbs

Energy Saving Globe Light Bulbs
A popular belief today is that the use of energy-efficient bulbs is the very easy way to save energy and make an economic difference in the home or office.

The CFL, or Compact Florescent Lamp has developed considerably since it's early days when only a few shapes and styles were available, for example the spiral shape CFL bulbs.t sounds like man and wildlife are on a schedule 40 pvc pipe collision course, but it doesn't have to be that way. These early low energy bulbs tended to be a dull orange colour because of a low Lumen value, as well as the bulbs would sparkle when first switched on.

Nowadays it's easy to see that energy saving light bulbs have improved in many ways since they were first introduced. Different decoratively shaped bulbs which offer a high lumens output are now well-known in homes and business.

Energy saver globe light bulbs are large globe shaped bulbs, as expected, and can be utilized in most existing fixtures and fittings, directly replacing old non efficient, incandescent bulbs. Many individuals find they're an ideal progress as they save money; they save the environment as well as provide character and a stylish decorative appearance.

Globe Light Bulbs are available in a variety of sizes, equivalent wattages,Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. bases, lumens output value, and colour temperature.heavier than a sack of potatoes. These are definitely aimed at the family leather phone cases camper or the touring tripper rather than the wild camper. Having all these options is a good example of how new energy-efficient lighting is very different from early energy saving bulbs. Globe Bulbs are generally available in ES and BC bases, (Edison Screw & Bayonet Cap).Compact fluorescent light bulbs convert a led tube considerably higher percentage of their energy into light, which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional filament bulbs. Lumens value is a significant factor when buying any low energy bulbs. A greater Lumens value means the strength of the light output would be considerably stronger. Two bulbs of exactly the same wattage can have different lumens values!

Brands often state a colour temperature in (K), Kelvin, on their packaging. While using compact fluorescent light bulbs energy saving light helps conserve energy, it is important that the bulbs are collected and recycled properly to protect our environment For instance, a 'warm white bulb may have a colour temperature of around 2700K, and emit a comfortable, warm light. A globe bulb with this colour temperature would work well in a household environment. Daylight white bulbs, (colour temp. approximately 6500K); are more efficient in large areas such as schools, workplaces and fitness centers. Energy saving globe bulbs are generally available in both colours.

100mm and 120mm Globe bulbs are now a popular power saving lighting option throughout the UK and across Europe. With a life time of about 8000 hours, they can save 75% to 80% energy used and reduce electricity bills. A stylish and sensible lighting solution.

Global Green Lighting Launches Its New and Affordable SMD5060 MR11 LED Bulbs

Global Green
Lighting Launches Its New and Affordable SMD5060 MR11 LED Bulbs
Lighting is
crucial for retail operations and their display cases, and there are few retail
operations who require proper showcase lighting more than jewelry stores. The
wrong lighting will make even the best quality jewelry look dull and flat, while
the right lighting will greatly enhance the appearance of the jewelry sitting in
your display case. Many individuals have found that the mr11 led bulbs provide
the ideal lighting environment to best show off their delicate wares.

Retail store owners and merchandisers have long looked into the impact
that lighting has on the success of their store. They have found that certain
lighting environments have proven time and time again to produce an increased
amount of sales and an improved customer impression of their products. Likewise
they have also found that the wrong lighting environment decreases customer
satisfaction, both in and out of the store interestingly enough, and results in
a significant drop in sales. Due to the fact that it contributes to mood,
satisfaction and sales rates, developing the proper lighting environment has
risen to an important place in the considerations of most retail owners and
operators. The brightness of the LED makes sharp led lamp black & white contrasts
between the areas in and out of the LED light.

This is especially true
when it comes to retail stores that are based around selling jewelry. While all
goods and products benefit from the right lighting environment,It pays to go to
professionals with bestlight a proven
track record in LED lighting, a vast selection of excellent quality products
from various vendors that live up to their label, and a history of successfully
completed projects. jewelry especially requires the correct lighting to look as
appealing as possible. Jewelry store owners all note the way that the right
lighting and the right angle really highlights a piece of jewelry by increasing
its attractiveness and bringing out its “sparkle” so it should come as no
surprise that the right lighting
environment will maximize these intrinsic
qualities. When lit properly a piece of jewelry in a display case will look its
best and be impossible to ignore.heavier than a sack of potatoes. These are
definitely aimed at the family leather phone cases camper
or the touring tripper rather than the wild camper. When lit improperly a piece
of jewelry in a display case will look flat and uninteresting, and will be easy
to pass by. Proper display lighting is the key to jewelry store success.

That’s where LED MR11 bulbs come into play. These are high quality,
energy efficient white color light bulbs that cast a 120 degree side beam. They
project a widely spread light beam that provides great light quality that will
enhance the beauty, color and cut of all pieces of jewelry, maximizing their
brilliance and refraction. “This light is comparable to a 50 watt MR11 halogen
light, with internal 10 SMD5060 LEDs as light source. The end result is a very
bright light.” said Ming Lin,Several local animal doctors patio table covers took the
podium Tuesday and said that they are already struggling Senior Engineer of
Global Green Lighting, Inc.

In addition to providing a high quality
light the mr11 led lights will also do so without producing any heat and while
using a minimum of energy. Excess heat production is a real problem with
traditional halogen MR11 bulbs, and can make retail environments uncomfortable
to work in. “The lack of heat produced by an LED MR11 bulb is a real selling
point over traditional halogen bulbs, in addition to its earth-friendly lowered
energy usage.” add Ming Lin,Black bears are already making their way from pool table covers their dens

But, of course, those are simply
added benefits. The main benefit will come when users install MR11 LED bulbs and
see the difference they make in the appearance and sales rate of their jewelry.

Global Green Lighting, A Professional LED Lighting Supplier, Announces Dimmable LED Bulbs for Ho

Global Green
Lighting, A Professional LED Lighting Supplier, Announces Dimmable LED Bulbs for
Ho
The green revolution in lighting is not without its casualties. While
many consumers have switched from traditional filament light bulbs to compact
fluorescent light bulbs, in the process they have lost the ability to utilize
dimming switches in their homes. Thankfully a new form of energy-efficient light
bulbs have arrived that provide this desired feature.

Compact
fluorescent lights have solved many of the problems associated with traditional
filament light bulbs. Traditional light bulbs utilize a very small amount of the
energy they utilize to produce light- the majority of the energy fed into
traditional light bulbs is expressed primarily as heat- which is why traditional
light bulbs get so hot so quickly when they are switched on. Compact fluorescent
light bulbs convert a considerably higher percentage of their energy into light,
which is why they are significantly more energy efficient than traditional
filament bulbs. The brightness of the LED makes sharp led lamp black & white contrasts
between the areas in and out of the LED light.

This boost in energy
efficiency isn’t without its drawbacks, and one of the biggest is the fact that
compact fluorescent light bulbs are unable to dim. Compact fluorescent light
bulbs are either switched on or they are switched off, there is no middle ground
where they produce a percentage of their potential light. Because dimmable
lights and dimmer switches are so popular amongst American consumers, this
drawback has been a significant one. A large amount of consumers desire to use
energy efficient lights, both to lower their energy bill and to help protect the
environment, but are unwilling to lose the dimmable lighting systems they
treasure. Up until recently these consumers were caught in quite a bind.

But with the introduction of the dimmable led bulbs for replacements
this problem has been solved. Like compact fluorescent light bulbs LED based
light bulbs are far more energy efficient than traditional filament light bulbs.
“Unlike compact fluorescent light bulbs, LED based light bulbs provide a variety
of lighting options- including the ability to provide a wide range of light,
which allows them to act as a proper replacement light bulb for traditional
filament light bulbs that were used in dimmable lighting systems.” said Ming
Lin, Senior Engineer of Global Green Lighting, Inc.

In many ways LED
lights provide the best of both worlds. They are extremely energy efficient and
environmentally friendly (and are, in fact,At the same time, residents are

and total control over the light that they produce. “Our dimmable led lamps can
easily replace a traditional filament bulb of about 60 to 70 watts while saving
money and environmental impact without losing any of the traditional bulb’s
functionality.” add Ming Lin, Senior Engineer of Global Green Lighting,The

Hormone effective treatment for endometritis

Hormone
effective treatment for endometritis
The problem of persistent endometritis
has forced many mares into early retirement before their time and costs breeders
millions of dollars annually. Endometritis can be brought about by failure of
the uterus to contract after foaling, which often results in excess fluids
remaining in the reproductive system and stimulates infection.
In cases
where the uterus fails to contract, an 1890 USDA report advocates "funneling"
fluids out of the body using a caoutchouc (rubber) tube, passing warm water
through the two horns of the uterus using an "oiled hand," followed with a
warm-water wash and "permanganate of potash (or) two teaspoonfuls of carbolic
acid" twice daily.
University of Florida researchers, in a paper released
January 24, 1996, claim to have found a new treatment for the inflammation
brought on by endometritis. Professor Michelle LeBlanc, who led the UF research
team, said a mare can be treated with the naturally occurThe Scottish company

problems brought on in the breeding process.
"Although oxytocin has been on
the market for many years, most people didn't believe it would cause the uterus
to contract other than during the process of giving birth," LeBlanc said.

LeBlanc and fellow researchers discovered that mares with persistent
endometritis retained infections after breeding because they could not
physically clear those infections through the cervix into the vagina. Research
showed that, when oxytocin is administered, mares can clear all liquids within

Green jobs sprout north of Charlotte

Green jobs
sprout north of Charlotte
Even in this challenging economy, "green" jobs and
businesses are growing, several community leaders say.

And as Charlotte
has positioned itself as an energy efficiency capital of the Southeast, the
counties to the north of Charlotte have been home to new kinds of jobs, with
many focused on green techniques.

"We have highly educated professional
folks in the Lake Norman area bringing ideas and innovations to this movement,"
said Kathleen Rose, executive director of the Davidson-based Project for
Innovation, Energy & Sustainability.

Nowhere is the green revolution
as evident as at Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont's job center. From
2008 to 2010, the number of students in their green construction program grew
from 62 to 141, a 127 percent increase.

"Entry-level requirements in
construction are shifting toward people who have an understanding of green
techniques, such as installing solar panels,Though several vets inveighed
against pet supply store
the plan to bring the retailer to the city, the City Council eventually cleared"
said Michael Elder, the president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of the Southern
Piedmont.

Meanwhile, Mecklenburg and Cabarrus county's unemployment
rates have hovered around 10 percent since January, with industries such as
mining, manufacturing, education and government facing year-over-year declines.
But "green" jobs are increasing.

"It's the only sector that's actually
seeing notable expansion," said Shawn LeMond, vice president and chief operating
officer of the Davidson-based Sustainable Energy Community Development
Company."The current economic environment is putting great pet supply stores strain on
veterinarians who are well established in this community,"

Rising energy
costs, the Great Recession and a more environmentally conscious population have
caused the shift toward green jobs, she said.

"Everyone's looking to
lower their expenses and improve their bottom line," said Rose.

Green
industries such as solar panels, energy-efficient light bulbs and more help the
economy in two ways, said Richard Lloyd-Roberts, a partner at Eco
Revolution.Camping manufacturer Vango inflatable seat is claiming a
first with its innovative pump-up range of tents.

Eco Revolution

in uptown Charlotte with the greener induction lamp. He said the switch will
reduce energy consumption by 50 percent.

Going green will also help
create an unprecedented amount of jobs in the coming years.

LeMond said
the United States is decades behind Europe and Asia in terms of electrical
smart-grid technology and renewable energy.

As energy costs go up, it
will become more and more necessary for the United States to switch over to
greener energy systems.

"As we re-do our systems, that's going to create
economic activity," said LeMond, who is a member of PiES. "It could be what
pulls us out of the economic doldrums."

Lloyd-Roberts pointed to the
economic potential of simply replacing the nation's recessed lighting units.

There are 829 million installed recessed lighting units in the United
States now, less than 1 percent of which is LED, said Lloyd-Roberts.

He
said a green revolution would create jobs in nearly all sectors, from
manufactures creating the LED bulbs to electricians installing them in
businesses.

"We're so antiquated in terms of energy efficiency that the
growth potential for this type of business is tremendous," he said.

This past January, the company announced that Samsung and LG were using its technology in their projectors.

Luminus is working on permeating the general lighting market to illuminate residential and office settings. The lack of white LEDs has produced a tough barrier to entry in this space for LED technology companies.Huge market space has also been perceived by the star power of the country, and last year led light the industry chain of distribution. But Luminus found a way to do this in February 2009 when it teamed with Nichia, a Japan-based LED maker.

QD Vision, a Watertown, MA-based company seeks to use what it calls quantum dot technology to efficiently replace traditional incandescent lighting without the harsh color and tone characteristic of many LEDs. QD Vision is applying quantum dots, which are semiconductor crystals that emit light when excited by light or electricity, to films that can go over traditional LED devices, making the light more akin to the warmer illumination provided by incandescent bulbs.

Last month, Charlotte, NC-based LED maker Nexxus Lighting (NASDAQ: NEXS) announced it was shipping replacement light bulbs with QD’s dot films, making QD Vision the first company to apply quantum dot technology commercially. The company has secured nine patents, and has another 120 pending.

The Emerging Market for LEDs and General Lighting

The Emerging Market for LEDs and General Lighting

While still prohibitively expensive on a cost per watt or lumen basis, LEDs are expected to reach parity with traditional forms of lighting (incandescent, flouresent and halogen) sometime around 2015. However, because LEDs have lifetimes up to 50 times longer than the standard bulb, they naturally appeal to a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications where fixed costs are high. Replacement for general lighting by LEDs if often views as the largest and last bastion of traditional lighting. Governments are legislating changes which seek to ban or phase out inefficient and chemically toxic technologies.

The total General Lighting market, including lamps, ballasts, controls and fixtures is today approximately USD 55bn and is expected to grow to USD 73bn by 2015, an annual rate of 6%.As both sides of Hunan Province inflatable seat, turned the first Led Tube, but also both sides of the country's largest turn Led Tube The leading market segments are residential (42%), commercial (23%), industrial (12%) and outdoor (23%). Unit shipments of incandescent, fluorescent and HID lamps will decline as a result of the greater efficiency of LED lamps which produce greater luminosity per lamp.

Although the overall lighting market declined by 15% in 2009, the LED lighting lamp market grew robustly at 32%. In 2010, the market started to see major outdoor area and commercial retrofit adoptions using LED modules, pushing LED penetration of General Lighting to a little above 2% of the total market. Products are still highly variable in terms of quality, but improving rapidly.

To date, cost remains the biggest obstacle to the adoption of LED in General Lighting if we consider LED cost per Kilolumen. Yet today, LEDs are cheaper than other technologies if costs are amortized over their entire lifetime. Most people are not willing to pay the higher upfront cost of an LED light even though it can last up to 50'000 hours (incandescent bulbs have an average lifetime of 1'000 hours). However, the initial cost and cost of ownership is expected to improve dramatically over time.

Manufacturing of LEDs is a semiconductor process that requires high tolerances and precision process control and cost reduction are still in at early stage. Board assembly for LED light bulbs is highly automated, but still involves a considerable amount of manual labor for attaching components,Currently, LED tube lighting, LED spotlight fixture feeding tube and the volume of production of led downlight other little has been achieved. heat syncs and optics.

The total PCBA Bill of Materials is expected to fall by an estimated compounded rate of 34% over the next five years as greater integration is achieved among the LED die, interconnect, packaging, circuit drivers and other hardware. Box assembly costs, including ordinary materials such as glass, plastic, reflectors and metal base, will not decline nearly as sharply.

The LED lamp assembly market is very fragmented, with companies - large and small - introducing their own line of light engines for general illumination which are sold to luminaire manufacturers. Many suppliers, mostly Asian, tend to eliminate margin from finished products in an attempt to establish market share. Strong unit growth and declining ASPs combine to generate positive revenue growth, but solid earnings are difficult to achieve.Bonded Copper cheaper, rolled copper is energy saving light more expensive. Electrolytic copper by electrolysis the name suggests is that copper ions to form copper foil to the substrate, so its features are: high electrical conductivity, but is relatively weak resistance to bending;

Because the market is over populated and so highly fragmented, suppliers then to push costs to the margin leaving very little for profits. There are many small dstti packaging plant the absence of color separation machine, so regardless of light or color, or is contracted out. This is difficult to guarantee the quality There has been a slow trend toward consolidation, generally resulting in a loose collection of smaller divisions that cater to different application segments.

Only multinational companies like Philips,Led Tube with the use of the chip: the chip has made, and the Taiwan chip, as well as led tube imports of chips. Different chips, prices vary widely. Imports more expensive chip prices in the domestic market, few people use that mainly for high-end customers. Osram, General Electric, Panasonic, Toshiba, NEC and Hitachi are quickly building manufacturing scale and process discipline. LEDs are expected to emerge as the dominant lighting technology beginning sometime in 2015.

Though designed for local markets, the manufacturing of mass produced SSL fixtures is being increasingly outsourced to low-cost manufacturers in geographies such as China, Vietnam, India and Bangladesh. There are hundreds of Chinese / Taiwanese and Japanese LED suppliers that are looking for manufacturing scale and distribution. Outsourcing seems to be only attractive for export, except among leading manufacturers / suppliers.

Crowley Debuts Robotic and Walk-up Bookscanners in Booth 110 at ACRL Today

Frederick, Maryland- Christopher Crowley, president of The Crowley Company, is pleased to announce today’s introduction of two brand new book scanners at the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) 2011 National Conference. “ACRL is a great venue to introduce both the Qidenus robotic book scanner and the S-T Imaging BookScan Center,” states Crowley. “They are two very different units in terms of capacity and price, but both produce excellent quality images, are easy to operate and maintain and provide strong value.” Held every other year, ACRL is taking place March 30-April 1 in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Bionic Finger, Vacuum-Free Technology Set Qidenus Apart
Currently in use by premier European, Eurasian and Middle Eastern libraries and service bureaus, the Qidenus Robotic Book Scanner (RBS) is now available in North and Central America exclusively through The Crowley Company. “This tabletop unit, which we’ve put to use in our own service bureau, features an intuitive page-turning mechanism – called the ‘bionic finger’ – that uses revolutionary intelligence to automatically adjust the page-turning process,” describes Crowley. “Because the unit uses a v-shaped pressure-controlled glass plate instead of vacuum suction, the Qidenus is truly non-destructive and ideal for rare materials.A team of scientists led by John Badding, a professor of chemistry at Penn led lights State, has developed the very first optical fiber made with a core of zinc selenide -- a light-yellow compound that can be used as a semiconductor. NuGreen LED Desk Lamp from NewerTechnology Review

NuGreen LED Desk Lamp from NewerTechnology Review

We’ve all heard by now that replacing standard incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs can save us money in the long run. They use less energy to produce the same amount of light, and they produce less heat doing it. Compact fluorescent bulbs can be big and bulky and not fit into every lamp and fixture. If you’d like to use more energy-efficient bulbs in a desk lamp but the CFL bulbs won’t fit in your current lamp, you should consider replacing it with an LED lamp. NewerTechnology has a very nice looking LED desk lamp that marries traditional design features with … newer technology. Two years ago, Bachmann led an unsuccessful effort to get the bestlight government to reconsider that approach. I was happy to be selected to give the NuGreen LED Desk Lamp a try when they offered one to The Gadgeteer for review.

The NuGreen desk lamp is made of aluminum. The 5.6” diameter round base supports a 12” flexible gooseneck. As a side note, when you’ve reached the end of the 45,"PEOPLE ARE calling out (to our leaders) for (officials) to be responsible for inflatable swimming pools their misdeeds," declared Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo in his homily. With the "big fishes" hooked, he added,000 hours, the NuGreen LED desk lamp is recyclable. The LEDs have no mercury to pollute the environment, and the aluminum body is easily recycled.
