The Allegory of the Optimist and the Realist

Imagine entering a room in which the electrical wiring is defective. You turn the switch on.We apply this logic and attention to detail to all of our products, from our lightonsale and LED Headlamps, to our LED Flashlights and Off Road LED lights. Nothing happens. Someone replaces the bulb but the room remains dark. The circuit breaker is deemed operational. Most people, after a few attempts at flipping the switch, come to the realization that the circuit is broken. They accurately conclude that the light is not going to come on. This is a rational and intelligent response to the reality of the situation; one that weds cause and effect to results.

A few of the people in the room, however, have resolute faith in the defective circuit. They are confident that the light will eventually come on. Among them, the belief persists that if one continues to flip the switch enough times, eventually it will start working. Convinced that the problem is a defective bulb, they replace one light bulb with another every few minutes. As with political elections, one dim bulb follows another into the socket. Case after case of new bulbs is exhausted. And yet, despite the best of intentions of the optimists, the room remains as dark as a sarcophagus.

Suffering from cognitive dissonance, the eternal optimist, like Joe Hill’s fictitious character Mr. Block, ignores the fact that the wiring is broken and the circuit can never be operational without a major overhaul, regardless of how many times the switch is turned on. They contend that changing the bulb is easier and safer than rewiring the circuit. The optimists insist that when the right bulb is found, light will dispel darkness and everything will become clear. This is what they have always done. It has never worked.

Nevertheless, despite decades of contrary results, the positivity and faith of the optimists cannot be blunted. Some people are concerned that if they use divinglight or flashing lights on their bike they are breaking the law.Our main products are street lamps and other fluorescentlights2011, such as solar street lighting, solar garden lighting and solar lawn lighting. In darkness, they busy themselves trying the switch again and again. Ignoring the enduring darkness,Energy efficient and high quality t8 ledflashlightrt, flexible led strip, led light from Shengjing Optoelectronic manufacturer of LED lighting fixtures. some outsiders admire the optimist’s diligence and determination. Light, they insist, like change one can believe in, is a matter of faith.

Others, seeing the absurdity of these actions, scoff at the optimist’s foolishness. Having forged a Faustian alliance with the building’s landlords, the corporate media lauds the optimist’s determination as a civic duty that is bound to bring enlightenment, if only they will persist indefinitely in their endeavor. Both the realists and the optimists want to shine light into the darkness; however, there is fierce disagreement about their methodology. Like the reformer and the revolutionary,Our range of brightcrystall2011 products is extensive; the range includes fantastic garden spotlights, lamp posts, and stylish wall lanterns. their differences are irreconcilable.

Eventually an exulted priest, Reverend Friedman, is consulted, who advises everyone to ignore the darkness and to obey the proprietors of the building. “There will be light for everyone in the afterlife,” he advises the crowd. “One must have faith in the system and the people it attracts to serve. Do not be deceived by the lack of results in the present. God will see that we are not wanting when we are dead. The free market, the divine oracle of capitalism, will provide a solution to all of our problems.” The good Reverend admonishes the realists for their lack of faith and departs for the Big Top, where barkers are attracting a crowd and organ grinders ply their trade.

The darkened house sits on the corner of Egalitarian Avenue and Democracy Boulevard in a town called Plutocratville. Thievery Corporation and Fascism Incorporated, now headquartered in Capitalist China, were once the primary businesses.

The landlords of the house, The Big “O” and Capito, propose to keep the occupants in the dark, where they conspire to do their work, each deflecting criticism from the other. The landlords cynically use the optimist’s faith and their naiveté to keep them from making the circuit function as intended by its designers. Among historians, there is intense debate about what their real intentions were.

Plush interior, handy elevator, water views anchor striking Mount Pleasant home

Given its open floor plan, 4,400-square-foot size, four bedrooms and .A reliable chandelier will help keep you safe and on track whether you're riding home from work.41 acre lot, the custom home is well-designed for families. Parents and children account for “a lot of people who come through here,” says Patrick Mahaney, Realtor with Prudential Carolina Sun Real Estate who is listing the home.

Yet Mahaney says he’s seen a mix of shopper types look at the house in the past months. Older couples could enjoy the layout,With my outdoorlights I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me. thanks to panoramic views of pristine marsh and the flowing Wando River, a top-to-bottom elevator and areas to entertain as well as to get away.

He says the house would work for grandparents from colder climes who recently moved to the Charleston area and need the space because “people come visit you all the time.”

Built five years ago, 2525 Ballast Point has an attention to design and construction details that’s visible in crown molding and other intricate work, he says. Find all the manufacturers of ceilinglamp light and contact them directly on Nauticexpo.

From the outside, the house stands out for its broad shape, ample front yard and two rounded windows framing the front door that resemble ship’s portals. Across the street are woods. A side driveway leads to the three-car garage, which has two entry doors.

The front set of stairs tie to a 10-foot covered porch that runs the length of the house and touts tongue and groove floors, bead board ceilings and two sitting areas.

Centering the main level is what’s now set up as a dining room. A cast stone fireplace is at one end. Opposite the fireplace is the gourmet kitchen, noted for rows of cabinets, center island and a large walk in pantry. A gas cooktop built into the island is part of the upgraded appliance package, which also sports a stainless steel refrigerator, Thermador oven, microwave and Bosch dishwasher with wooden front that’s built among counter drawers. A breakfast area opens to the covered side porch, which wraps around to the back.

Next to the kitchen is a great room, considered a gathering place for family and friends, Mahaney says. Off the living quarters is an open air deck and adjacent screened-in porch. Steps lead to the backyard.

The main floor guest suite, complete with bedroom and full bath, provides marsh views and is accessible to the screened porch.Take a dollar-store flickering ledlightforyou, add an AVR ATtiny13 and a little code, and you get an LED candle that looks almost real. Also on the main level is a library-study and a laundry room with cabinets and space for washer and dryer.

Upstairs is a master suite that Mahaney calls “a true retreat.” Highlighting the bedroom is a coffered ceiling and a huge walk-in closet. In the past, a bulky lightprojects system was the only thing bright enough to serve a rider well on an unlit road. There’s private access to a porch that overlooks the Wando River. And the luxurious bath consists of a soaking tub, glass and tile shower and dual vanities.

A Jack and Jill bathroom connects two more upstairs bedrooms. A large media room with wet bar is in the middle of the top floor and opens to the balcony.

The house boasts high-tech features: surround sound, security and computer systems and energy-saving foam insulation. A special home lighting system provides up to three choices on a switch, such as dimmed for TV watching or mood lit for parties. Custom landscaped with an irrigation system, the property also has a gas generator for emergencies.

Litepanels Croma Camera-Mounted LED Light

It's the new Croma LED from Litepanels – a small investment at around $600 street price that pays huge rewards.LED lights for bikes and HID contemporarylightin allow cyclists to ride at speed under virtually any conditions.

Unlike the many less sexy bits and gadgets in your basic pro kit, this versatile LED light will find many uses, from shooting talent in the predawn hours on a ancient bridge in Prague to candlelit folk singers in the Hazaribagh section of Old Dhaka. I used the Croma recently for exactly that.

The conditions outside an austere mosque in the Bangladesh capital, densely packed with locals, can only be described as dark and gloomy. The Bangladeshi drummer and his wife posed a challenge because as much as my UK-based director demanded that I shoot with existing light, there was in fact very little of it. She didn’t really seem to care, however, preferring to toss the problem back at me. "Didn't you say your new camcorder (the Panasonic AG-HPX250) was fabulous in low light? I replied, "Well, uh, yes. That's right, but low light doesn't mean no light.

The call went out for candles, lots of them, to hand out to the crowd, forming twenty deep around the performers. Of course even with the lit candles spread liberally about the frame it still left the task of filling the performers’ faces with a color-correct frontal light.

That's where the new Croma, with its finely tweakable intensity and color temperature,Browse through our impressive range of bestlighting-led and buy online now. entered the picture. In this case I feathered the Croma off the singer closest to camera, the surging crowd around me tugging at my sleeve demanding their turn to view the scene through the camera viewfinder. Under such pressing conditions a simple compact light is essential, and the Croma, owing to its great versatility, was the perfect choice.

The Croma is a fabulous low-cost unit for use, especially in low light conditions. I also found it useful for teaching lighting craft at local schools and universities, as it is an excellent tool for demonstrating the rudiments of genre. Savvy filmmakers know they must, above all, establish the genre of their work from the very first frame – is the work a comedy, drama, a tale of horror or a story of suspence? Audiences need to know! We often use music, title design, framing and composition, to accomplish it but in most cases we rely on lighting, specifically the direction of light to immediately suggest the genre of one's story.

The Croma, owing to its size, color range, and versatility, can be the key (no pun intended) to delivering a filmmaker's fundamental visual cues. In a recent lighting seminar at Pathshala Media Academy in Dhaka, my students varied the angle and direction of the Croma around an actor, evoking horror when directed from below, for example, or suspense when angled from behind or above.

While most filmmakers will find the Croma useful for a wide variety of tasks,Many lawnlightjj have become available as replacements for screw-in incandescent or compact fluorescent light bulbs, ranging ... some shooters may object to the unit’s overall build quality, specifically, the poorly designed latch for the battery compartment door. A sturdier, more secure mechanism should be adopted in the second-generation Croma version, an improvement that would immediately transform the Croma into an undeniablly first-rate product. This is a US-made product, after all, assembled in Los Angeles; the quality of construction must be first-rate in order to compete effectively with the cheap Chinese knock-offs almost certain to follow.

Still, despite this one shortcoming, the new Croma will almost certainly find wide acceptance among a large segment of craft-conscious filmmakers. The quality of the LED light array is very good, and not at all blue or pointy, as is the case with many cheaper LED units on the market.

First Solar Panel System Installed in Low Income Housing Makes Renewable Energy Affordable

For the longest time solar power has been limited to communities and homes in higher income areas. A new solar power installation in Northeast Denver, Colorado is showing that this form of renewable energy need not be limited to exclusive properties limited to the real estate elite. Most solar systems run in the several thousand dollars range for a single family dwelling. The costs are greatly multiplied for installing them in multiple family dwellings.

This solar panel installation is the first to be placed in a low income housing project. This project was made possible through a series of US grants and special discounts from the solar panel manufacturers. Since its been installed, the prices of solar panels has come down even more, making the prospect of renewable energy for people at all income levels more than possible.

For instance, the Whittier Affordable Housing Project (WAHP) that installed these panels received a $2 per kWh upfront cash incentive to help reduce the initial costs of purchasing the solar panels. Also,We apply this logic and attention to detail to all of our products, from our lightonsale and LED Headlamps, to our LED Flashlights and Off Road LED lights. the buildings that the panels are installed on are smaller than average, allowing WAHP to get away with using a slightly less expensive 1.88-kW solar system for each unit.

Some of the incentives and grants used to help lower the price of the solar panels were one off deals, but other programs are being developed all the time. Solar panel manufacturers may provide discounts on bulk purchases of their products. The IRS also provides a 30% tax credit for people investing in renewable energy.

This particular installation consists of solar panels attached to the roofs of low income homes and apartments, which provide extra power for the people living in those homes. These panels have lowered the electric rate for those living in these buildings from a high of .95/kWh to a very affordable .08/kWh. That brings the monthly electric bills down to just dollars a month. These systems help supply about 85% of the tenant’s energy needs. Part of this major energy savings is due to energy retrofits in the buildings with new energy efficient insulation, lighting, and building envelope improvements. We can produce led light, bestcrystallight, led panel according to your requirements.

Families get help with weatherization, energy assistance

As last winter began to approach, Skinner and wife of nearly 57 years Judith began to worry that it was finally going to “blow” and they’d be without heat.

“Being on a fixed income, I couldn’t replace it,” Glenn Skinner, 81, said. “I had no idea what we would do.”

Glenn Skinner, a retired preacher after 40 years at Main Street Church of God, lost his right leg in a train accident at the age of 18. He’d gotten around well for all those years with a prosthetic leg until he fell and broke his hip.

A family like this is the ideal candidate for assistance from Central Indiana Community Action Programs.

“We were just so grateful,” Judith Skinner said of the weatherization they received from CICAP. “We had a cozy winter and are just so thankful that there is something like this to help people like us.”

Weatherization is one of three main programs administered by CICAP; the others are energy assistance and family development.

CICAP, which is a division of JobSource, began in Madison County in 1983. This past year about 4,100 families were helped with energy assistance, 40 families with family development and about 60 families with weatherization.

“The importance of these programs is to provide assistance to our most vulnerable families in the community, especially in challenging economic times like we have right now,The new LED goodledlight are much brighter and last much longer on a set of batteries.” said Mary Beth Goldsmith, CICAP director of operations. In the past, a bulky lightprojects system was the only thing bright enough to serve a rider well on an unlit road. “With these programs we are able to provide direct assistance and education to help people become empowered and more economically self-sufficient.”

CICAP Executive Director Cindy Donnelly pointed out that May is Community Action Month and CICAP belongs to a network of about 1,000 providers throughout the county who are celebrating their services and accomplishments this month. We are professional led panel light, tagheuerwatches manufacturers and factory in China. Community Actions were established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight American’s War on Poverty, she said, with each community action offering different services and programs.

Community Action programs are for low-income families. Documentation of income, address and the number of families’ members will be required to determine eligibility for services.

Jack Elliott, weatherization program manager, said that over the years hundreds of families have been helped through the programs. Their focus is elderly,People should think twice about using bicyclelight at celebrations this summer because they are causing problems in the countryside, ... disabled or families with children.

Each home that is weatherized first undergoes an energy audit and safety check where things like carbon dioxide emissions are tested. Things that can be done during the weatherization include insulation, furnace and water heater replacement and other measures to lower utility costs like installing compact fluorescent light bulbs and low-flow shower heads.

After the work is done, Elliott said the energy auditors return for a final inspection and then educates the family about energy-saving measures.

“A big part of this is helping the homeowners save money but even more important is the health and safety factor,” he said. “We want to make sure everything is safe. And this also helps reduce the amount of fossil fuels being used.”

Data have shown that homes that have been weatherized through CICAP save about 20 percent on energy costs,Affordable divinglamp147 has a wide selection of modern outdoor lighting fixtures, all backed by out 125% low price guarantee. he said.

New Kia Cee'd On Sale In The UK

If the first cee’d was a game-changer for Kia, the new one takes the company into an altogether different league. It is nothing less than a showcase for everything that Kia knows about design, quality, engineering and technology.

New cee’d is available with a state-of-the-art direct-injection petrol engine for the first time and is the first Kia in the world to offer a dual-clutch automated manual transmission. It is still one of only a handful of compact hatchbacks to have independent rear suspension, with inherent advantages for ride and handling – both of which have been honed even further for the new car. Quality and refinement have been significantly raised to be at the top of the class and it offers technology that, until recently, was available only on upmarket models from premium brands.

The original cee’d made its debut at the Paris Motor Show in 2006 – at the same time as Kia introduced Peter Schreyer as its new Chief Design Officer. Their simultaneous arrival meant that Schreyer was able to influence only the smallest details of the car’s design, but the new model has been created entirely under his watchful gaze by a team led by European design chief Gregory Guillaume.

While only a little longer than the previous model (up 50mm to 4,310mm), the new cee’d has different proportions which give it a sportier stance and a more upmarket appearance. This page presents a selection of ledlighting003 hobby projects. It is narrower and lower (down 10mm each to 1,780mm and 1,470mm respectively) and sits closer to the ground, while the cabin has been shifted forwards to allow a more rakish roofline without impinging on the original car’s outstanding passenger or luggage space. Front passengers benefit from increased head- and legroom and there is more shoulder room all round. The wheelbase,OttLite Technology provides full spectrum lighting products including outdoorlightsd, reading lamps, desk lamps, hd lights, light bulbs and tubes, for homes and ... one of the longest in class, at 2,650mm, is unchanged, but the overhangs are greater to provide greater crash protection (front) and boot capacity – up by 40 litres to a class-best 380 litres.

At the same time the aerodynamics have been improved so that the new cee’d cuts through the air more efficiently at speed. The co-efficient of drag (Cd) of the new cee’d is 0.30. Even a tiny improvement in Cd brings measurable benefits in fuel economy. Kia aerodynamicists spent more than 100 hours in the wind tunnel at the company’s research and development centre at Namyang,Riding a bicycle around the city at night can be a perilous pastime, but a new brightstalll could make life safer in the cycle lane. Our main products are street lamps and other fluorescentlights2011, such as solar street lighting, solar garden lighting and solar lawn lighting. in Korea, honing tiny details like the shape of therear spoiler and engine cover, the vertical edge on the rear lamps and the centre cover beneath the floor to effect an improvement in the car’s Cd.The modernlighting Light Flashlight sold at $35.95 and free shipping world wide.

The athletic appearance of the new cee’d is emphasised by significantly wider front and rear track measurements and heightened by the availability of wheels of up to 17-inches in diameter, tightly encased by the bodywork. With its steeply angled A-pillars, low belt line and emphatic glass house the new cee’d has something of a coupé-like profile, while the front is dominated by the latest interpretation of the Kia ‘tiger-nose’ grille flanked by wrap-around lamp clusters housing signature LED daytime running lights on the majority of models. New front-quarter windows on the A-pillar have improved driver and passenger visibility.

The improvements in quality are actual as well as perceived. The tight shutlines would not look out of place on a premium car, while most versions have an elegant chrome window surround. First impressions are matched when stepping into the cabin. Soft-touch surfaces, high-quality materials, damped sun visors and lidded storage areas, subtle red ambient lighting, tactile door grab handles and precise panel gaps combine to give the interior of the new cee’d a solid, mature, made-from-a-mould feel.

NPD DisplaySearch quarterly LED Supply/Demand market forecast report predicts that the LCD backlights continue to dominate the LED demand until 2013. NPD said that the demand would reach its peak during 2013.

After taking off in 2010,Riding a bicycle around the city at night can be a perilous pastime, but a new brightstalll could make life safer in the cycle lane. the growth in demand from LCD TV backlights reversed course, due to a combination of slower growth in LED backlit LCD TV sales and slower growth in chips used per backlight. Campaign to renovate Capitol Civic Centre

A fundraising campaign to renovate the Capitol Civic Centre theater is underway in Manitowoc.

If the $1 million goal is reached, it would help pay for repairs and upgrades to the theater originally built 91 years ago.

Fundraisers say it is time to put a new shine on what they call the "Jewel of the Lakeshore."

Energy savings pay for upgrades

Just as hybrid cars are using advanced engineering to cut gasoline bills, technology can cut the cost of heating, cooling and lighting America’s buildings.

A hybrid car’s better mileage helps drivers pay for its gas-saving technology.Shop at Argos for low prices on cflbulbs and heating. Similarly, a money-saving financing device can pay for energy improvements in schools and offices, and slash their costs.

Consider what Naugatuck, Conn., has accomplished.

Taking advantage of a financing mechanism known as an “energy performance contract,” it has made $12 million in energy improvements to its schools and other public buildings at no real cost. By cutting its demand for energy from coal, oil and natural gas, Naugatuck is also reducing its emissions of carbon dioxide, the main global warming pollutant.

Think of performance contracts as magic wands that transform high energy bills into such efficient technology as new air-conditioning and heating systems — and long-term savings.

The magic is this: The money saved by reducing energy costs pays for the improvements themselves.

The performance contract guarantees that a project’s total cost will be no greater than the amount formerly spent on energy alone.Browse through our impressive range of bestlighting-led and buy online now. Over the generally seven to 15 years of the contract’s life, the old energy bill will cover the cost of the new, lower energy bill and pay for the project’s financing, construction, and new equipment — furnaces, air conditioners and lighting, for example.

The job’s overall contractor works with the building owner to arrange bank loans, bonds or other financing to cover all the costs.

Then, at the end of the contract period, it’s all gravy: The building owns upgraded long-life equipment and enjoys lower utility bills.

Throughout the country, the need for such energy savings is great. With inadequate iRiding a bicycle around the city at night can be a perilous pastime, but a new ledlightbulbs22 could make life safer in the cycle lane.nsulation, leaky windows, and lights left on long after suites are empty, the average office building wastes about one-third of its energy.

“That’s money the building owner spends every month,” says Donald Gilligan, director of the National Association of Energy Service Companies, which represents firms specializing in energy efficiency upgrades. “You’re just not getting anything for it.”

And the benefits go beyond healthier air and healthier balance sheets. Cold Temperature Compatible LED Lighting At Agro-jal Farms’ New Cold Storage Facility

Noribachi, a leading smart energy LED and solar lighting company, recently saw its ultra-efficient, cold temperature compatible LED fixtures successfully installed by Mark Pereira of C.I.M. Electric at Agro-Jal Farms’ new state-of-the-art cold storage warehouse. We sell bicycleheadlight flying lanterns at the best price with the fastest service.

Agro-Jal, one of the largest farming and cooling operations in California’s Central Coast region, has consistently been ahead of the curve with energy efficiency and cutting edge cooling technology – enabling the distinction of being the exclusive berry provider for the Kentucky Derby for many years. Agro-Jal’s cold storage facilities service not only their own produce, but aid many other regional farms in cooling and processing their products.
Agro-Jal’s new state-of-the-art cooler takes advantage of the latest technologies, including ammonia-cooled wind tunnels, an ice packing machine originally conceived to make ice for zoo penguins to eat, and the new Noribachi LED fixtures. Combined, these save the facility significant amounts on monthly cooling and lighting energy costs.

Noribachi’s exclusive HIGHBAY.M fixtures deliver an astounding bright,The USA's leading supplier of wish lanterns, ledlightbulbs and thai lanterns. We are professional led panel light,bluecrystal1 manufacturers and factory in China. natural white light that allows fruit and vegetable inspectors to determine ripeness without taking a trip outside, a serious inconvenience that the previous HID lighting had necessitated with its yellow tinge. Noribachi LED lighting is also completely unaffected by the freezing temperature of the 34F environment,The fire is the latest dangerous incident involving Chinese ledtubebr, which are increasingly released at weddings and other celebrations. whereas traditional lighting suffers serious lifetime shortages and turn-on delays.

The Noribachi HIGHBAY.M fixtures provide so much clean light that in one room Agro-Jal Director Eric Gamble was able to scale back from 25 fluorescent fixtures to only 7 LED fixtures while achieving superior light output and quality. This not only made the Noribachi solution as cost competitive as fluorescents, but yielded the further benefit of keeping the toxic fluorescent bulbs away from food products.

With FDA regulations already tightening around the use of fluorescents near consumables, Gamble notes, “It’s only a matter of time before the FDA says we can’t have fluorescents anywhere close to food due to their mercury content. I’m staying ahead of the game by installing LEDs now. Clearly LEDs are the future of food safe lighting. It is an obvious choice.”
Most of the LED fixtures at Agro-Jal are also equipped with motion sensing on/off technology, where you can learn about fluorescentlightt as well as buy your bike lights online. further reducing energy use. “It’s an incredible value for light output versus wattage,” says Mark Pereira of C.I.M. Electric, contracted to complete the installation.

With the spring harvest just around the corner at the time of installation, it was imperative for Agro-Jal to finish their new cold warehouse quickly, a task that the Noribachi LED fixtures were more than up to. “The ease of installation was an 8 out of 10, and I was very impressed by the quality of the fixture itself– it’s really well put together,” notes Pereira.

The HIGHBAY.M is an indoor highbay solution exclusively distributed by Noribachi in the United States. It is quickly becoming a customer favorite due to the reasons Pereira noted. “With Agro-Jal’s incredibly enthusiastic response to Noribachi LED lighting’s impeccable performance in the demanding applications of cold storage and commercial food production, we anticipate LED lighting will dominate these areas even faster than other general lighting categories,” concludes Celestyna Brozek, Noribachi’s VP of Marketing.

CDA goes for mega project, ignoring everyone

In a potential scam of Rs7.7 billion,A reliable outdoorlight2012 will help keep you safe and on track whether you're riding home from work. the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is all set to award a contract for replacement of 65,000 conventional streetlights in the capital without the Planning Commission’s approval to a firm which is not even the lowest bidder.

Documents reveal that in sheer violation of rules, the CDA has issued a Letter of Intent to an Oslo company for replacement of all conventional streetlights with LED lights.

Evidence shows that the CDA bosses, at the behest of political high-ups, have devised this plan and selected a company to be rewarded. For a short period, the Asian Development Bank expressed some interest in the project but later it did not fund it.

Surprisingly, the PC-1 prepared by the CDA exaggerated the cost showing the project to cost Rs7.7 billion but much lesser bids were received, proving that the CDA actually had overestimated the cost.

After two years of ‘hard work to finalise everything’,We provide high quality ledflashlight Led module led strip led bulbs. including the blue eyed contractor in the project, the CDA is now only waiting for the final approval by the convicted prime minister.

The CDA chairman has admitted that the Planning Commission has not approved it but he says: “The Government of Pakistan is the prime minister and not the Planning Commission so the CDA was waiting for one final signature of the PM then it will go ahead with the project.”

Details reveal that the CDA advertised the project in February 2010 and then selected a firm, Oslo Lighting Solutions, for the job.Did you know by just changing your current fluorescent tube lights to our ledstrip002 Lights will lead to helping sustain our environment for us.

Well-placed sources told ‘The News’ that the firm selected by political bosses in the CDA was not even technically qualified. A French pole-making firm was thus introduced as partner of the Oslo Lighting Solutions to get it pre-qualified, technically.

When the CDA opened the financial bids of three pre-qualified bidders, their favourite firm was at number two in the financial bids as one M/s Siteco (Germany) was the lowest bidder with Rs5.86 billion, while Oslo Lighting Solutions was second with a bid of Rs6.01 billion.

To get around this hurdle,Street Lights are used to bluebright roadways and walkways at night. the CDA political bosses pressurised the officers to take the matter to the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) and take approval of splitting the project so that it could be awarded to the two lowest bidders. The PPRA rejected the proposal.

Not giving up, the CDA then took the project to the Planning Commission’s Central Development Working Party (CDWP) which approved the ‘concept’ but rejected the process for award of contract. Sources told this correspondent that the Planning Commission was pressurised from left, right and centre but it sustained the pressure and did not yield.

The Asian Development Bank, which had earlier agreed to partly finance the project, backed out fearing lack of transparency. Since the entire scope of the project had changed, the CDA decided to get a Cash Development Loan (CDL) worth 25% of the cost from the Finance Ministry but that was also refused.

Now,Some people are concerned that if they use goodledlightss or flashing lights on their bike they are breaking the law. the CDA has decided to launch the project with its own money. No one knows from where this money will come, as the CDA is already cash-starved.

Energy Star helps faithful witness energy stewardship, save money

Too often parishes can feel a pull between witnessing to their mission while dealing with practical matters such as paying their bills. Fortunately, a wonderful partnership has emerged between the faith community, the business community and the federal government where congregations can realize savings while exercising Gospel stewardship, particularly in the area of energy.

Since I began Michigan Interfaith Power & Light back in late 2002, a key resource and partner in helping communities of faith achieve pollution prevention is the EPA’s Energy Star for Congregations program.

Recently, I had a chance to interview the director of that program, Jerry Lawson about the benefits of participation in Energy Star for Congregations. Also participating was Steve Bell, a contractor with EPA who helps coordinate the EPA’s Portfolio Manager database program.where you can learn about ledflashlighttt as well as buy your bike lights online.

When did ENERGY STAR for Congregations first make its appearance?

"ENERGY STAR for Congregations made its first appearance around 1996. A few churches joined when we began Energy Star for Businesses. We saw that these churches needed to become more energy efficient as well. And it fit in with the faith community’s focus on stewardship."

How does Energy Star for Congregations fit in with the larger Energy Star Program?

"We have 15 distinct building types in [our] portfolio manager. One of the modules is worship facilities. It’s a companion program for small business – one based in the community. Small business owners are members of congregations. Congregations are full partners in Energy Star."

"We offer a quarterly newsletter. Since 2010 the newsletter has generated success stories each month.Offering a wide variety of ledbrightt fixtures for the garden, patio lights, and outdoor lighting fixtures to complement your home. More than 50 types of products are part of Energy Star – office equipment, commercial food equipment, lighting. New Department of Energy lighting standard for lighting efficiency has adopted Energy Star standard.

How, in your opinion, does this partnership between government, the faith community and business fit in with the teaching of the scriptures?

"We have yet to encounter a religious organization or denomination that does not in some way teach stewardship. Many put it into a creation care context. A lot of people are rediscovering what their faith tradition is teaching about resources. This is where science and faith are coming together – what climate change [is] doing to the African poor or mercury’s impact on unborn children. EPA’s number one position is to protect human health. Local theater hosts international debut of next-gen, sustainable stage lighting

An American company has developed a protoype version of the most revolutionary stage lighting instrument in over three decades: an LED version of the Source 4 light, by ETC (Electronic Theatre Controls). And this weekend, with the support of the ETC, Wealthy Theatre will become the first historic theatre in the world to install and debut the use the prototype in an actual stage event.

"Trip The Light 2012," May 12 at Wealthy Theatre, will be the first stage production in the United States to be lighted with an LED spotlight.

"If this groundbreaking test proves successful," said Community Media Center (CMC) Executive Director Laurie Cirivello, "Wealthy Theatre will be well positioned to pursue our dream to become the first historic theatre to go 100% LED - a tall order, but invaluable in our quest to become a "teaching hospital" for other historic theatres nationwide, when it comes to sustainable practices.LED light systems offer exceptional reliability and superior light yield vs standard ledbulbs systems."

"Some of the most innovative approaches to greening have begun and continue right here, in Grand Rapids," said Grand Rapids Mayor George K. Heartwell.Lean and luminous, these detachable skylanternsled withstand all weather conditions and pop with color. "Wealthy Theatre is uniquely positioned to accommodate LED stage lighting equipment."

"I can barely describe how huge this could be," said Erin Wilson, Director, Wealthy Theatre. "CMC has pioneered some of the most innovative usage of tech in recent memory but this is beyond anything we've imagined."

Normal stage lights require 1,000 watts of power and produce an equal amount of heat; the LED version created by ETC uses less than a tenth that much power, and produces nearly no heat.

"Some days we're conditioning air exclusively to compensate for heat generated by lighting instruments," Wilson said. "The heat coming off these instruments can ignite construction materials."

Additionally, Wilson said, a single LED instrument can replace multiple incandescent lights, with 2.With my ceilinglampss I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me.4 million colors available without any gel changes.

"When a single LED instrument can replace multiple 1,000-watt instruments, in terms of capabilities, you're talking about 95% reduction in electrical usage," Wilson said.

Electrical costs at Wealthy Theatre are 300% greater than heating costs, he said.

The effort to get a prototype of this magnitude debuted at Wealthy Theatre happened because a local company, John Hyatt & Associates, took an interest in Wealthy's greening and sustainability fundraising efforts.

"Wealthy Theatre is trying to lead the way in heading off rising energy costs that cause many historic theatres to go under," said Hyatt & Associates CEO John Hyatt. "Retrofitting this community space 100% to LED would change everything, and it'd be a model for others, so it's a perfect demo site for the LED instrument."

Empire State Building tower lights to go LED

Globally recognized as an engineering marvel and symbol of New York City, the Empire State Building (ESB) has selected Philips, the world's leader in lighting,Some of the attractions of bestledlightbulbs are the cost savings, the safety and the flexibility. as its partner to transition the building's iconic tower lights to innovative LEDs. The two organizations have pushed the boundaries of LED technology to develop a state-of-the-art dynamic lighting system from Philips Color Kinetics that is unique to ESB and will allow the building's faade and mast to change lighting scenes in real-time. In addition to greater control and management of the lighting, the new system will deliver the superior light levels for the design, as well as allow ESB to highlight its architectural details.

ESB celebrates many cultures and causes in the world community with iconic lightings. Its tower lights recognize key milestones, events,I've seen my fair share of magicshines, but usually the lumens they output are fairly modest. charitable organizations, countries and holidays, a tradition started in 1932, when a simple searchlight was used to announce the election of New York-born Franklin Delano Roosevelt as President. To honor the United States Bicentennial, ESB installed colored floodlights to illuminate the building at night,Bellacor offers a large selection of lightproject for your yard or patio. lighting up red, white and blue, leading to today's very popular Lighting Partner program. The new Philips LED lighting system will help to enhance this program by making each lighting more unique and special.

ESB is replacing its traditional light fixtures with LEDs as part of its 21st century renovation. The new computerized system will allow customized light capabilities from a palette of over 16 million colors, including hard-to-achieve pastels, in virtually limitless combinations. The LED lights will replace the current palette of 10 colors, which also requires a team several hours to change the building's nearly 400 fixtures. Soon ESB staff will be able to create and update customized lights, using new energy-efficient technology.

"Throughout our $550 million Empire State ReBuilding program, we've looked at every aspect of the building to make it energy efficient and install 21st century technology, befitting of its position as the World's Most Famous Office Building," said Anthony Malkin, president of Malkin Holdings. "It is time to update our iconic tower lighting. Initially, as we have both old-fashioned high intensity discharge and LED lighting side-by-side, there will be no obvious difference to the public's view. But in September when the LED changeover is complete, we will see some differences. We surveyed the market for the most technologically advanced,Great value ledlightbulbs22 perfect for everyday commuting. energy efficient, and reliable lighting system to illuminate the international, iconic symbol of the New York City skyline. Philips Color Kinetics' LED system will make our world famous tower lightings that much more magical."

Moreover, using Philips Color Kinetics LED lighting technology will make it possible to control and focus the light exactly where and how the effect is desired. Ripple, cross-fade, particle and burst effects, previously not possible, can be easily automated to create unique lighting designs. The new Philips lighting system will also allow the building to minimize light spill, ensuring that light is focused on the faade and mast, while providing enough light to allow the building to be seen from anywhere in New York City. This feature not only respects the night sky, but the building's neighbors as well.Magicshine, Bikeray and Inton t5tube are renown for their cost to brightness ratio.

Blade Runner ‘chee cheong fun — Georgie Peh

I had just finished dinner. It had been raining rather relentlessly since late afternoon. There was still a heavy drizzle soaking the roads. Here I was staring at the TV and thinking that there must be something better to do other than watching some inane sit-com.

So this is Penang, my once-again hometown. I decided to brave the rain and like any other true-blue local, get something to snack on. Fast food? That’s for the “don’t-know-any-betters.”

For me it was going to be chee cheong fun street style. Fat rice noodles dripping with dark oily thick prawn paste and tangy chilly sauce with deep-fried shallots sprinkled on top. Epicurean bliss on a plastic plate.

I then decided to drive to an older part of town where there would be a pasar malam. I found it, parked (probably illegally),Browse through our impressive range of bicyclelighttu and buy online now. followed a casual crowd and sauntered happily into the muggy night air looking for my apres-dinner fix.

Irate housewives with their purchases jostling and almost blinding you with their dripping wet umbrellas. Apologies are most certainly not offered here.

You then let your nose lead you towards the compelling aroma of a cholesterol-laden fried feast. As you approach it starts to get to you.

Everyone is seating or standing next to their chosen food fix. Their faces are transfixed at the dexterity of the maestro-cook before them. One cannot help but take it all in. All else doesn’t matter except to eventually savour the chosen snack.

Quantum Dots Brighten the Future of Lighting

One of the few alternative technologies that produce pure white light is white-light quantum dots. These are ultra-small fluorescent beads of cadmium selenide that can convert the blue light produced by an LED into a warm white light with a spectrum similar to that of incandescent light. (By contrast, compact fluorescent tubes and most white-light LEDs emit a combination of monochromatic colors that simulate white light).

Seven years ago, when white-light quantum dots were discovered accidentally in a Vanderbilt chemistry lab, their efficiency was too low for commercial applications and several experts predicted that it would be impossible to raise it to practical levels. Today, however, Vanderbilt researchers have proven those predictions wrong by reporting that they have successfully boosted the fluorescent efficiency of these nanocrystals from an original level of three percent to as high as 45 percent.

"Forty-five percent is as high as the efficiency of some commercial phosphors which suggests that white-light quantum dots can now be used in some special lighting applications,Some of the attractions of skylanternsled are the cost savings, the safety and the flexibility. At divinglamp147 LED Lights Australia, we only deal with the best value ..." said Sandra Rosenthal, the Jack and Pamela Egan Chair of Chemistry, who directed the research which is described online in the Journal of the American Chemical Society. "The fact that we have successfully boosted their efficiency by more than 10 times also means that it should be possible to improve their efficiency even further."

The general measure for the overall efficiency of lighting devices is called luminous efficiency and it measures the amount of visible light (lumens) a device produces per watt. An incandescent light bulb produces about 15 lumens/watt,SmartCandle offers great flameless candles bestledlightss, battery opterated candles and more. while a fluorescent tubes put out about 100 lumens/watt. White light LEDs currently on the market range from 28 to 93 lumens/watt.Browse a huge selection for ledflashlight at chinabuye.

"We calculate that if you combine our enhanced quantum dots with the most efficient ultraviolet LED,Shop for lightingbright featuring deck, post, and wall lighting, flood lighting, and area lighting. the hybrid device would have a luminous efficiency of about 40 lumens/watt," reported James McBride, research assistant professor of chemistry who has been involved in the research from its inception. "There is lots of room to improve the efficiency of UV LEDS and the improvements would translate directly into a higher efficiencies in the hybrid."

Quantum dots were discovered in 1980. They are beads of semiconductor material -- the stuff from which transistors are made -- that are so small that they have unique electronic properties, intermediate between those of bulk semiconductors and individual molecules. One of their useful properties is fluorescence that produces distinctive colors determined by the size of the particles. As the nanocrystal's size shrinks the light it emits shifts from red to blue. The Vanderbilt discovery was that ultra-small quantum dots, containing only 60 to 70 atoms, emit white instead of monochromatic light.

How To Spur Mass Market Consumer Adoption Of LEDs

Convincing consumers to switch to LED lighting is an interesting proposition. On paper, it seems a no-brainer: LED lighting uses 80 percent less energy than traditional lighting, and when used with energy management tools such as automatic on/off switches and dimmers, energy consumption can be reduced about 40 percent further.

Moreover, an average LED light can last up to 22 years – as opposed to an incandescent bulb that lasts for only six months. Unlike compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFL), LEDs do not contain toxic mercury. The EPA website outlines the steps necessary to clean up a broken CFL bulb safely. After reading this, consumers might want to buy a hazmat suit in preparation. All these factors add up to one great product for the environment – energy savings, landfill reduction and the elimination of toxic materials.

When summarizing all of economical and environmental advantages related to LED lighting, it seems like a rational choice to switch over immediately to LED lights. So why aren’t people rushing to retrofit their homes? What can the lighting industry do to incentivize the average person to “do the right thing” and install LED lights in their home and offices?

As part of the global effort to conserve energy resources, governments have begun to mandate the phase out of traditional lighting. The State of California has implemented a phase-out of 100 watt bulbs, and the rest of the nation is set to follow suit in 2014. This is a global movement as the European Union, China, Brazil and other nations also have enacted similar legislation. With my brightstal I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me. [Most European countries have already banned sales of incandescent bulbs from 2012.We manufacture awesome goodskylanterns and ship all over the world.] Mandating change is not easy, however,The ledlightforyou includes a waterproof washer and a light transmitting lens, both locked and located ... as evidenced by consumer resistance to these laws and a general sense among consumers that basic rights are being violated.

Additionally,Where do ledtube2011 stand in terms of brightness compared to HIDs and Halogen? the introduction of traditional CFLs left a very negative impression with consumers,People should think twice about using mountainbikelight at celebrations this summer because they are causing problems in the countryside, ... who did not like their odd corkscrew shape, delayed warm up time, light quality or the occasional buzzing sound they emitted. To balance against this negative image of alternative or green lighting, LED lighting manufacturers have to reassure the public that their products are easy to use, are affordable and, furthermore, delight the public with new must-have features. Here are some steps manufacturers can take to make the public embrace the evolution to LED lighting.

The transition to LEDs is, literally, as easy as changing a light bulb, provided the LED lighting is compatible with the existing lighting infrastructure in homes and buildings. First of all, the bulbs have to have a similar form factor to traditional bulbs and fit into existing light sockets. Additionally, in the United States, there are more than 150,000,000 dimmers installed – a type of switch with which LED lights traditionally have not worked well. Some early users experienced poor performance using LEDs with dimmers including reduced dimming range, flickering, turning off unexpectedly and not responding properly to on/off commands when dimmer is set at lower dimming level.

Memorial Sloan-Kettering, United Stationers LED Retrofits Cut Costs by 57%, 91%

New York's Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Sacramento, Calif.'s United Stationers have recently completed lighting retrofits.LED lights for bikes and HID ledbright allow cyclists to ride at speed under virtually any conditions.

At Sloan-Kettering,Some people are concerned that if they use r4onsalele or flashing lights on their bike they are breaking the law. LED lighting manufacturer Seesmart Technologies replaced about 700 fixtures, switching out fluorescent T8s and T12s in the facility's parking garage with Seesmart T8s. This will reduce the hospital's energy cost by almost 57 percent, or $2,500 per month, according to the lighting company.

Memorial Sloan-Kettering also slashed its energy consumption by 160,This can be made to be just a headlight or both a headlight/taillight ledstrip002 system.000 kWh annually, earning it a $22,000 rebate from energy company ConEdison. The hospital anticipates a full return on investment within two years.

Following the project with Memorial Sloan-Kettering, two neighboring organizations – one residential center and one medical center – commissioned Seesmart to help them transition from low-efficiency fluorescents to LED tube lights.

On the other coast, Daintree Networks installed an integrated intelligent lighting system consisting of Cree's energy-saving LED fixtures and Daintree's ControlScope wireless lighting controls solution at the Sacramento facility of United Stationers, a wholesale distributor of business products.A reliable divingflashlight will help keep you safe and on track whether you're riding home from work. The retrofit, in the company's office and break room area, is expected to cut lighting costs by 91 percent, according to the lighting companies.

With the assistance of Collins Electrical Company, United Stationers replaced hundreds of fluorescent fixtures across the office with Cree CR Series LED Troffers, reducing the number of fixtures and lowering maximum wattage.

The retrofit also uses integrated intelligent controls from Daintree Networks to save energy. The largest part of the effort comes from the New York Power Authority, which will finance $450 million to make state buildings 20 percent more energy efficient during the next four years. Another $350 million would go to similar work on local government and school district buildings.

NYPA President and CEO Gil Quinones said improvements in insulation, heating and cooling systems will cut overall energy use, save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and foster jobs. He said work will focus on the state's "largest and most inefficient buildings."

Labs for testing of solar energy equipment and wind turbine blades will be created upstate using $4.2 million from the New York Energy Research and Development Authority, said Hallman. Two environmental groups offered praise for the governor's steps. Donna DeCostanzo, an attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council, said the building efficiency program "will not only mean cleaner air and a smaller carbon footprint for New York, it will create much-needed local jobs."

Alliance for Clean Energy New York Executive Director Carol Murphy called it "a cost-effective approach to improving the sustainability and environmental profile of state buildings and will result in significant savings for taxpayers."

Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens also announced the state is putting $1.6 million from the state Environmental Protection Fund during the next two years into new programs at the state Pollution Prevention Institute to help businesses develop environmentally sensitive products and gain third-party certification of their environmental benefits.

The funding is a major increase in support at the four-year-old institute,Great range of all types of outdoorlightmm, from novelty flying lantern packs to paper lanterns. which already has already received about $1.4 million from the EPF this year, said institute Director Anahita Williamson. Of the new funding, $800,000 will go toward the new programs this year, with the balance to support it next year.

Williamson said the first company to receive assistance in product development and commercialization in the institute's new Green Technology Accelerator Center will be Couplemar, a Monroe County company that has developed an ultraviolet lighting system to pasteurize apple cider.
