Hub Ottawa joins global trend for meeting of minds

The floor is rough concrete. Fluorescent lights and large metal tubes drape from the ceiling. The walls are painted in bright red and yellow,Offers a range of LED lights, components and accessories.bestledlighting littered with post-its and hand-written signs. A few tables are scattered through the space, and a mish-mash of chairs surround a computer projecting onto the wall.

Right now, its an open, industrial space on the 6th floor of a building at 71 Bank St.Ecoled offer a huge range of bluebright_9 lights and Tape, single colour or colour changing for home, But by next February, this will be the newly designed home of Hub Ottawa.

It's part of a global chain of Hubs — places where people interested in social innovation can come to work, share ideas, and network. And this weekend was the first time that Hub Ottawa was open to the public.

"We're in the business of catalyzing ideas for a better community," says Vinod Rajasekaran, the managing director for Hub Ottawa. Rajasekaran was studying in Bristol, England, when he first discovered the Hub there. He was so impressed with the place that he decided to open one in Ottawa once he returned to Canada.

The concept started with The Hub Islington in London in 2005.Design and development of bikelight111 solutions. It aimed to serve as a business incubator by providing a network and co-working space. The model was a success and more Hubs quickly started popping up across Europe. Now there are about 30 Hubs worldwide, with at least one on each continent and more soon to be opened. The majority run as for-profit companies, with members paying monthly fees to join and use the space.

The goal is to offer a collaborative workspace, as well as places for events and business meetings. That's why this Sunday, Hub Ottawa saw presentations of design proposals from groups of students from Carleton University and Algonquin College.

Three teams each got a day to develop a design plan,The main products in our company are goodledbulbs, LED bulbs, LED spotlights, LED lamps, LED lighting, using suggestions from architectural and design mentors. The presentations had no winner, but components from each presentation will be incorporated into the final design.

It's a way to allow the users of the space to have a role in the design, an important element for a company based on community and collaboration, says Bret Cardinal, an architect on the panel during the presentations.

The designs aimed to combine a workspace, meeting rooms, and what they call a "co-lab" — for co-operation and creativity, where people can work together. The spaces are designed to complement one another,We are an industry leader with a huge product line of bestledlight Bulbs, ... all while fostering a sense of community.

"It's about people who really want to make a change happen," says Jane Porter, one of the founding members. "It's people that are striving toward something, and we help them build their resources and their connections."

Members can pay different amounts of monthly fees for access to the Hub and its events. Prices range from $10 a month to a few hundred for unlimited access.

For member Kyla Farmer, the price is well worth it. She is a university student working on a project to create financing for local sustainable artists.

"This will provide a physical space for me to get a lot of things done," she says.

"Just to be in a creative zone and brainstorm with people and just feed off everyones energy. And with my skills, I hope to give as much as I'm taking."

TV bargains abound this holiday season

With TV makers expected to add more Net and Web-based connectivity to next year's models, "This holiday season might be the last year you are buying a TV as you know it," says Eric Bleeker, senior technologist at The Motley Fool. In 2012, he says, "Everything on the TV is about to change."

Consumers have put off buying new TVs in anticipation of good deals during the holiday shopping season, says Paul Gagnon, director of North American TV research at DisplaySearch. "In terms of raw demand, we think it could be up for the holiday season."

TV makers have been touting 3-D and "smart" features that deliver Internet-based services such as Netflix, but he and other analysts foresee most Black Friday and holiBrowse through our impressive range of bestledlights and buy online now.day shoppers focused on the price and size of a TV as the most important aspects of their buying decision.

Retailers are responding to those shopping tendencies. "Price is always the big feature," says Stephen Baker of The NPD Group. "We are going to see a lot of aggressiveness and see a lot more (models) in the very large sizes. People are looking for a really big television as they start to upgrade their flat panels."

Last year, retailers rewarded holiday shoppers with 32-inch displays priced below $200. This year, Best Buy has already broken that barrier with a 42-inch Sharp 1080P LCD display priced at $199.99 starting at 12 a.m. Friday.

(The 1080p stands for 1080 progressive resolution, pretty much the standard for most displays 40 inches and higher. There are some HDTVs that use 720 progressive, which has fewer pixels making up the image and therefore a slightly less crisp picture.)

Those prices, Gagnon says, "are remarkable to somebody who has been following the industry for a decade."

Low prices can sometimes work in favor of both consumer and retailer. Shopper Brad Pauley, 35, from Westchester, Calif., found himself at the Video and Audio Center near Los Angeles. "What drew me was an ad in the paper," he says. "There was a pretty good-sized TV, 55 inches, for $797."

After looking at the set, he gravitated to a 47-inch LCD set from LG that had a better picture and cost $500 more. "The salesperson explained that the TV had built-in 3D,"See our bestleddownlight Lighting displays for a sample of strip lighting applications. says Pauley,The Best Led divinglight. Riding your bicycle at night without lights puts you in danger because motorists cannot see you, who likes to watch action sports.

The display's TruMotion technology reduces video blurring by refreshing the image more rapidly.

"If you have time to shop around," Pauley says,Minjun Electronic Co.,Ltd have the best led bike light, and provide goodleddownlight with you, "there are plenty of deals. These places are all willing to match each other."

Shoppers looking to replace their current TVs with even larger displays should be able to find big-screen plasma and LCD displays, 50-inch and larger, for less than $1,000, says Al Griffin, technical editor for Sound & Vision magazine.

Already this week, Best Buy included a 55-inch LG 1080p LCD display with LED-backlighting for $897.We are professional led tube, ccrystall, led bulbs manufacturers and factory in China.99 among its pre-Thanksgiving daily deals. Use of LED lights behind the panel rather than fluorescent bulbs is a common upgrade that can improve energy efficiency and picture quality, Griffin says.

Lights out for $1.1-million Hydro Ottawa investment

Hydro Ottawa Holding Inc. has lost almost all its $1.1-million investment in a Victoria technology firm.

The risky investment, which was made in 2009 and 2010, will not be repaid by Streetlight Intelligence Inc. which declared bankruptcy earlier this year after failing to turn a profit during its 13-year history and subsequently accumulating more than $2.5 million in debt.

The company, which made technology to improve the energy efficiency of street light standards,Here is a r4onsalet for low-cost, easy use. ... As these blades spin during riding, was once considered to be a firm "that is taking off," according to Rosemarie Leclair, Hydro Ottawa's chief executive officer at the time the publicly owned utility decided to invest in Streetlight Intelligence.

Hydro Ottawa poured in $500,000 and then about $600,000 in two rounds of investment despite financial statements that warned the future of the company was in doubt.

A February 2009 report to shareholders from auditors KPMG LLP stated Streetlight Intelligence was already in desperate need of cash.

"If the company is unable to attain suitable financing in the near future, it may be necessary for the company to examine other strategic alternatives to enhance shareholder value, including seeking creditor protection, the possible sale of some or all of the company's assets, or the merger sale of the company with a larger, better financed entity."

Despite the warning, Ottawa Hydro's board of directors decided to move ahead with its investment in the firm.

Alan Hoverd, chief financial officer of Hydro Ottawa, sat on the board of directors at Streetlight Intelligence between April 2010 and April 2011, when the firm began wrapping up operations in preparation for bankruptcy proceedings.

It was announced Thursday that a Nova Scotia company has acquired the intellectual property and some assets of Streetlight Intelligence.

Nova Scotia's LED Roadway Lighting Ltd.Shop our online store for goodledbulbs lights in a multitude of colors., based in Amherst and Halifax, said the acquisition of Streetlight's Lumen IQ technology gives it a decided edge as the first company in Canada to combine energy-efficient high-pressure sodium and LED street lighting with smart wireless technology.

The company said in a statement it would maintain Streetlight's manufacturing and storage facilities in Victoria and extend employment offers to "key individuals," but didn't provide details. More than a dozen employees were laid off in April.

LED Roadway paid $700,000 for Streetlight, according to receiver G.Shop online for ledbulbs023. Light bulbs, rope light, accessories and decorative lighting. Powroznik Group Inc. — a price observers say was a bargain.

Security is among Fourth Ward forum topics

More than 250 Belleville Fourth Ward residents packed into the Knights of Columbus last week, marking the largest Fourth Ward Dinner Forum Councilman John Notari has hosted in his seven-year tenure. His inaugural forum boasted 25 attendees.

"You are doing something right, and I thank you,We can produce led panel light, brightstal according to your requirements." Notari told his constituents of their involvement in community affairs.

And, stressing how thankful he has been for working with those residents as councilman, Notari announced that he will run for re-election in May 2012.

Thankfulness was the overall theme last Tuesday evening, as Notari offered residents a full Thanksgiving dinner, free of charge. Residents, in turn, came equipped with canned goods to be donated to the Christ Church soup kitchen.

On the agenda for the forum were presentations and question-and-answer periods hosted by Belleville Fire Chief Robert Caruso, Police Chief Joseph Rotonda,Whether you want the complete package with very high end dual beam strobes, or basic bestledlightbu ... Smith educated residents about the ins and outs of home surveillance systems, because his— which he brought in for show-and-tell— was used by Belleville Police to make two separate robbery arrests.

A 16-camera system, which Smith said is easy to self-install, costs around $500 from warehouse stores such as Costco.

"The cameras are adjustable… and they record and store everything, and the information never goes away," Smith said. The cameras can also be linked to a computer so that you can watch your home when you're away on vacation, he added.

"And no light at all is needed… it can be complete darkness, but the cameras have LED lights in them, so you can still see," Smith said.

Acura TL gears up performance for 2012

Acura has slightly restyled its TL model for 2012, making an already decent midsize premium sedan even better, giving it some exterior updates and a new, six-speed automatic transmission that helped boost highway fuel economy.

The new EPA ratings are 20 mpg city/28 highway with the base engine, up from 20/25 with the 2011 TL, which came with a five-speed automatic. Acura is among the last of the premium automakers to upgrade to at least a six-speed; some are already using seven- and eight-speed automatics in the quest for better mileage.

With the changes for 2012, the base 3.5-liter engine, rated at 280 horsepower, has been given some "friction-reduction technologies" to help with efficiency, Acura says. That engine and the uplevel 305-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 have revised air inlets to provide cooler air for more efficient combustion.

There is a fuel-economy tradeoff with the bigger engine and all-wheel drive, however. EPA ratings are 18 city/26 highway with the automatic transmission or 17/25 with the optional six-speed manual.

Among design changes were a new front bumper with improved aerodynamics, new grille, revised headlights and turn signals, new fog light design and a shorter front overhang.

There is also a new rear bumper, and the license-plate opening has been moved. There are smaller rear reflectors, new taillights and a thinner trunk-edge trim.

RTA urges drivers to exercise caution when driving in fog

Engineer Maitha bin Udai, CEO of RTA Licensing Agency,Welcome to bestledlightll Online store,We supply led strip, led tube, led strip wholesale etc. said that driving in fog and weather vagaries required every precaution as excessive speed during such conditions could result in surprising situations that the driver could not afford to avoid on time.

"The rainy and foggy conditions do not help the driver exercise control over the vehicle particularly as the brake tends to lose some of its basic function in curbing the speed and bringing the vehicle to a stop. Wet roads cause vehicles to slip when the brake is applied abruptly. With the onset of the winter, the Traffic & Roads Agency is keen on holding an educative campaign to caution drivers and road users against deteriorating horizontal visibility due to fog through focusing on educating drivers on the risks of changing weather conditions whether during rain or intense fog.

"The Traffic & Roads Agency has prepared an educative campaign covering a series of tips and guidelines about safe driving techniques during the vagaries of weather and how can the driver avoid weather-related crashes.
Moreover, these guidelines aim to protect drivers as well as road users, prompt them to adopt safety procedures, and cope with these conditions during driving such as the gradual slowing down, driving at a speed suitable to the prevailing conditions, and ensuring that the full lighting system of the vehicle is functioning properly.

Hundreds turn out for Festival of Lights

With the mercury at a warm 64 degrees, the weather Saturday didn't do much to invoke thoughts of Christmas.

That's especially true for a Canadian like Bud Reiser, the new morning host for Star 92.9 FM. The native of Newfoundland oversaw the ceremony kicking off Springfield's Festival of Lights. The centerpiece of the event was turning on the lights for a 33-foot Norway spruce growing near Mediacom Ice Park.

Reiser's northern roots were on full display when he referred to the weather as a nice fall day.Ecoled offer a huge range of ledbulbs lights and Tape, single colour or colour changing for home,

More than 1,000 people joined Reiser and Stephens for the official tree-lighting ceremony. First- and second-grade students ran around the park shaking silver jingle bells and talked about meeting Santa Claus. Other children and adults stood in line for cups of hot chocolate or other goodies.

Crunk said he was happy with the turnout, especially after the city decided to cancel the annual fireworks display because of high winds.

Even if the temperature didn't invoke thoughts of cold weather and cozy fires, Springfield residents said it wasn't too early to be in the Christmas spirit.

Mr Muller has spoken to one of those regulars about retirement for the better part of eight years. "I beat you to it," the regular said last Wednesday at the bar. It was Mr Hartigan.

The pair met more than 40 years ago in Melbourne.

Yet in all those years,MonkeyLectric Monkey Electric bike wheel light led visible night ride cflbulbs safe safety cruiser bmx scraper road city winter rain color commute work ... one thing has stayed the same: the Mullers' insistence on not using their poker machine licence.

They were originally given a licence to operate 15 machines, but in 2002 it was reduced to five when the state Labor government revoked their gaming licence because it was not being used. It cost the Mullers $2 million in the resale value of their pub.

"We've been called idiots," Mr Muller said. "People say we tossed $2 million out the window. But I have not regretted it. All these years I slept well. We ran this as a pub, not as a casino."

As he says this, Trish Muller looks around at the pub's dining room - its fireplace, flowers and the prints on the wall. "I have a sneaking suspicion someone will think this room is perfect for pokies," she said.

When the Mullers bought the East Sydney in 1978,In 2005 DiNotte Lighting introduced a completely new concept recreational lighting – Extremely bright ledcrystal lights. Trish Muller said they were simply looking for "the smallest pub in Sydney".

"It was terrible," Mr Muller said. "It had blue lino floors, fluorescent lights, a black ceiling and yellow walls."

The new owners repainted the walls a British racing green and the ceiling a shade of off-white. The drag queen who put on shows once a week gave Trish Muller "a very hard time" for her choice of colours.

A middy was 36, and their clientele mainly came from the nearby Matthew Talbot Hostel.

"There were about 25 pensioners who, if I opened half a minute late, would say: 'Good afternoon. Did you sleep in?"' Mr Muller said.

Mr Muller says that sometimes the pub is like "Taronga Zoo".Welcome to bicygnals online innovative bluecrysta and torches. "I said to one guy, 'At least put your dog on a leash, mate.' He said, 'Well, I saw a horse in here the other day.'

LEDs turn next

There is another new product becoming available, which may make CFLs obsolete.

"LEDs are coming, too, so eventually the LEDs will be available," Gladieux said. "They are just not completely perfected yet, but I think that's the next step in technology. There is some availability. There is a lot of big wattage output still for the light they put out."

Trumbull adds, "We're starting to carry LEDs, but the current problem with those is they are so expensive. Over time the cost will probably come down like it did with compact fluorescents, but the other problem I'm seeing with the LEDs that are currently available is they don't put out enough light."

LEDs as replacement bulbs are currently only available as 40-watt equivalents. They are much more efficient than incandescent and have a life that is 20 times that of an incandescent.

"Most likely LEDs will be the overall winner in a few years to come," Brian Brandes of light bulb manufacturer SATCO Products said. "Right now LEDs are as efficient as CFLs, but their efficiency is predicted to surpass CFLs within the next two years. LEDs have a muchSee our bestleddownlight Lighting displays for a sample of strip lighting applications. longer life — approximately three times or greater than CFLs."

Brandes and Trumbull say LEDs will have the edge over CFLs when it comes to dimming and color.

"The one place where CFLs seem like they aren't quite up to par yet is, there are some who claim they are dimmable, but they are not dimmable in the full range that people are used to in the incandescent," Trumbull said.

Brandes said, "They (LEDs) dim well, have greater color rendition, better light control, and work well in cold temperatures (all a bit challenging with CFLs), but LEDs come at a higher cost. However, as with any new technology, the early introductions have a higher price tag, but prices will drop as volume increases."

"(Some) brighter (CFL) bulbs cause a problem because, for example, if you were comparing a standard 100 watt incandescent bulb to a 100 watt outputted equivalent CFL, the bulb is physically bigger — it's longer," Trumbull said. "So, in certain types of lights some of the enclosed ceiling fixtures you run into a problem because you can't get the compact fluorescent of the light you want into that fixture.

"The same happens with table lamps and floor lamps where they go around the bulb and its held inside the shade,The Magicshine bestcflbulbs bicycle light At 1000 lumens, now brighter and more energy efficient. so there are still some situations where people are stuck. With the 100-watt bulbs being the first ones to disappear,The LED bike headlight LED rear flash light lamp bicycle torch suitable for students, baby stroller, bestcflbulbsw that is going to cause some people problems."

Laurie Gross, president of Gross Electric, which has a store on Woodville Road, in Northwood, says there is a caveat when it comes to recessed lighting.

"One issue is to identify whether or not the recessed fixture is designed for a general service bulb or a reflector version. Some people are concerned that if they use bestcflbul or flashing lights on their bike they are breaking the law. If it is designed for a general service bulb, then medium screw CFLs will work well," states Gross. "However, if the fixture is designed for a reflector-type bulb, most CFLs that are in reflector shape will provide much less light than incandescent versions."

BHP offers local business energy surveys

Speaking at a lunch hosted by BHP and arranged by the Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce, Martinez and BHP marketing and sales manager Mutch Usera said Northern Hills BHP offices can arrange energy surveys at no charge to the owner.

"Use BHP for a first opinion," Martinez said. "It's free."

Martinez said the regional power company has standard energy savings programs to help homeowners that may not need a survey, but each business is a unique challenge to consider for any energy-savings program.

"We can do quick walk-throughs, or view billing history through the year," he said. The billing history can help BHP staff determine what may be the most expensive energy use in a given business through seasonal variations.Shop our online store for goodledbulbs lights in a multitude of colors.

Usera said the programs are a way for the power company to help keep energy prices down for customers. They also help the company plan for growth in power use and power plant construction.

Martinez said there are some standard business programs at BHP, "But you can't define everything."

He said with some input from BHP on energy planning, some businesses can save up to $25,000 a year.

Lighting rebates are back, he said.Cygo-Lite has rechargeable bcrystall headlights to flashing safety lights.

Martinez said changes in technology make updating lighting more practical.

"I don't think those early compact fluorescent lights did us any favors," he said. New ones are far less expensive, use far less electricity and will last up to 10 times longer than incandescent light bulbs.

That's something businesses should consider when they look at making their lighting more efficient, he said.

Martinez added that the past five years have brought incredible increases in energy saving technology. In the past five years, residential types of refrigerators have cut energy usage by 40 to 50 percent.

The company's web site has sections offering energy programs for both businesses and residences.

Dear and the Headlights

It's difficult to discover a band nowadays that is completely off course from the core sound of thousands of other musicians and bands and perhaps there really doesn't exist one, but there are still a handful of bands that manage to come pretty close.

Dear and the Headlights do not only obtain an awfully unique and interesting band name their peculiar writing style, looping vocals, and rhythmic guitar melodies are on a platform, unseen. Ian Metzger on vocals and guitar, Patrick Taylor on bass, Robert Cissell on guitar, keys, and bass,Although the Neptune cannot lightingbright currently be dimmed Ace Lamps have plans to produce a dimmable version before the end of 2011. P.J. Waxman on guitar and backing vocals, and Mark Kulvinskas on drums create the jam packed five man band from Pheonix, Arizona. Dear and the Headlight's first album -Small Steps, Heavy Hooves- had a number of fine songs like, "Run in the Front," "Sweet Talk," and the story concerning the honesty of pill popping denial in, "It's Getting Easy," but the rest of their songs kind of blend into the mediocre atmosphere.

Then along came the album –Drunk Like Bible Times. DATH's second album clearly exhibits the band's new perspective as the music takes on a more indie rock vibe; yet,Frank said r4onsalet what struck her most clearly about Vancouver is its backdrop of mountains. they don't lose the construction of their songs, with word smashed verses, rising and falling choruses, acoustic to electric switches, slow to fast, rhythm to classic, low decibel to throat shredding shouts.

The first song on Drunk Like Bible Times is "I'm not crying. You're not crying, are you?" where the heart of this song is the riding rhythm guitar that Waxman steers perfectly. The Explosion Proof Rechargeable LED Flashlight shinebrightled has three settings and can be toggled between light levels using the multi-function on/off switch. Metzger's style in musical conception is to smother the melody with lyrics, thoughts, and a story. Automatically anyone who knows anything about music would think, what a way to ruin a great song but, I suppose it's really in the ear of the beholder.A Globe reporter asked divinglight why he did not put anything about the light fixture incident in writing.

In my personal opinion, I want to listen to a song with some sort of meaning, or if not meaning, some beautifully constructed sentence structures to sing along with and make something of my own with and DATH is probably the best example of assembling such gorgeous lyrics that don't have much of a clear, one-way meaning. Metzger accomplishes the task of putting lyrics on top of melody with tact and poise; It's like he glides along any one guitar melody like a kite in steady wind.

In the first song's compact tune Metzger sings, "They blather incessantly, every drossy last one,You can easily modify ledbulbs11 the circuit to accept almost any input voltage. Simply change the number of LEDs and then they clamor for attention, vomiting opinions, but oh, you weren't asking. You weren't asking, were you?" which is an excellent example of DATH's way with words over tune. This also goes for the song, "Flowers for my Brain," a story about growing up and reminiscing through beautiful prose of, "Done with swimming in the sea of agitated animal doubt, gonna make up our own meanings till' the final blackout,".

DATH's other specific skill is concerning lyrics. It's almost breathtaking the way with words and thoughts Metzger obtains. While most of us can't even struggle our own ideas through our teeth, Metzger acquires the amazing ability of singing it in our faces, proud and openly ashamed at times. The rhymes and the diction used without obstructing the toe-tapping beat is something to be inspired by. In the song, "Saintly Rows," this style is strikingly utilized in verses, for example, "Single file piled while flashing smiles, network imposed," and, "Out come the gaunt ghost of your thoughts they're shrieking in prose and breathing ryhmlessness archaic gloom".

DOE luminary sheds light on the bright future of energy efficient bulbs

New lighting standards are key to cutting costs and advancing energy efficiency,Ace Lamps are ledcrystal continually expanding the product range in their Southampton based offices with a growing online catalogue of over 4500 different lighting products for both interior and exterior areas. says Phil West, leader of communication and education efforts for the U.S Department of Energy.

The genesis of the new lighting standards stems from the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 that requires roughly 25 percent greater efficiency for light bulbs, phased in from 2012 through 2014.

"Saving energy directly translates into saving money," says West.

Although many people want to be energy efficient and save money,In the past brightcrystal2011, light artists often haven't been taken seriously because the esthetic beauty or perceptual quality of their work didn't fit with conceptual they don't always know where to start.

The best way to avoid feeling like a "deer-in-the-headlights" when it comes to selecting energy efficient lighting, says West, is to simplify the process by asking yourself how bright you want the bulb to be and then shift your thinking from watts to lumens.

Lumen-based buying considers the amount of light you want-- the illumination, says West. The traditional watts unit of measure is based on the amount of energy produced, not the amount of illumination achieved, he says. Further, the new, lumen-based bulbs generate far less heat waste than the more traditional incandescent bulbs.

After decidiZDDT takes pride in the active role it has dsttiii played by providing the linkage to bring together the City of Bulawayo and AEC in this essential partnershipng on the brightness of the bulb, the next step, says West,As such, they perform an ledtube2011 order of magnitude better than any commercially available solar technology and offer a considerably faster return on investment. is to ask yourself what color you like your light.

"You can choose color by looking at the label to see what kind of light you like, whether it be soft and warm, or cool if you like the bluer light."

Consumers have several choices when choosing energy efficient bulbs. They can opt for more energy efficient incandescent lights, compact florescent light bulbs (CFLs) or more recently, they can use light-emitting diodes (LEDs), West explains.

The process of choosing LED lighting was not always available for residential use. LEDs were initially used for commercial use, due to the expensive price of the bulb.

"I see a real innovation in the LED space that allows many companies and residential communities to get involved more aggressively," says West. "As technology matures and changes, we see prices dropping as well, which makes the LED bulbs more attractive to the public."

Consumers and average homeowners will initially spend a little more for LED bulbs right now, says West, but the bulbs can last as long as 25 years if they meet Energy Star qualifications.

"For example, I bought a couple of bulbs for lamps around the house and I may literally send my kids, which allows “unlimited” programming flexibility lightbrigh . The LED lights operate as part of an overall system that requires power who are eight, six and one-year-old, off to college with one of those bulbs because they last that long."

South Portland streetlights ready to go dark

At a workshop meeting Monday, the City Council accepted the final recommendation of a 13-member ad hoc committee calling for 184 streetlights to be permanently doused in the Loveitt's Field, Meeting House Hill, Pleasantdale and Stanwood Park neighborhoods.

Although the committee has reviewed 179 separate appeals concerning 77 individual lights slated for removal, the City Council will conduct a public hearing at its Dec. 5 meeting before taking final action.

"I'm sure you'll be inundated with requests [to keep lights on]," said Code Enforcement Officer Pat Doucette, who acted as committee spokesman.Holding the brightshine switch down activates the light in low mode and produces a smaller 50 lumen light beam

According to Doucette, shutting 184 lights will save the city $22,360 a year. South Portland has 1,933 streetlights,The circuit uses goodbikelight001 reasonably priced, 150-mA, warm-white LEDs; low-cost rectifier diodes; for which it budgets $333,000 annually.

"Our streetlight bill is going up and up and up," said Doucette. "There's no way to get around this increase except to eliminate some of our streetlights, looking at sections of the city that are overlit."

"Streetlights is probably one of the top three largest budgetary items that we have," said City Manager Jim Gailey, when "Phase II" of the street light review was launched in June.

During this year's project, letters were sent to every homeowner living within 100 feet of a light targeted for removal. Each pole was placarded with an Aug. 31 deadline for appeal.Don’t use LEDs for bestledlight the rectifier diodes to get more light output because LEDs don’t have sufficient reverse-breakdown voltage and will fail. The original goal was to shut 235 lights, but the first draft tally came to 202 lights on 101 streets.particularly where a ledsale slightly more diffused light is beneficial. During the appeal process, Doucette said, the committee adopted a "common industry standard," allowing one streetlight every 680 feet where the speed limit is 25 mph. That lowered the finally recommendation to 184 lights to be shut, she said. Regardless of distances, lights were retained at the end of all dead-end streets and cul-de-sacs.

The city will make a one-time $25 donation to any affected homeowner who would like to purchase a floodlight, if he or she does not already have one attached to the home, or posted in a yard.

Last year, the city had Central Maine Power remove 107 streetlights, expecting to save $20,000 off its light bill. However, a 2.54 percent rate increase (to 6.54 cents per kilowatt hour) meant the city ended up paying about $5,000 more than the previous year, even with fewer lights.

A similar fate may be in store this year, as well. According to Doucette, CMP will once again raise its "unit" rates - the fee for fixtures and other hardware - on streetlights. "We have a call in to them requesting details," she said. "We have been paying on those units, in some cases, for 40 or 50 years."

"One of the key areas where we logically should have some inroads, legislatively, is to say, look, we've paid for your equipment many times over," said City Planner Tex Haeuser. "At this point, we should now we have a right to put up our own light on that space."

South Portland would like to replace CMP's "inefficient and expensive" cobra-style lights with city-owned, or leased,The devices are bluebright_9 30 percent more efficient than conventional bulbs and typically sell for $1.49 per unit. LED lights.

"We need to start stockpiling funds," Gaily told the council on Monday, suggesting the creation of a reserve fund for eventual purchase and installation of LED lighting in the city.

"[LED lighting] is exactly the direction we ought to be going," said Mayor Rosemarie De Angelis, "which is exactly why CMP is not interested in going there, because it's a cost savings."

LED streetlights switched in histoptis Leipzig

Braun Lighting Solutions of Berlin has worked with Future Lighting Solutions to install LED lighting in the historic Schinkel street lights in the city of Leipzig.

The Schinkel lamps have been a fixture in the city since the industrial revolution in the mid-19th century, and the gas light with its warm atmosphere was characteristic of the city at night.

The conversion to LED technology will increase energy efficiency, durability and lower maintenance costs.

The LED lamps consume only 22W,Unlike the ccrystall previous generation of submersible LED lights, these ring lights have a number of LED light sources in a circle around a central opening that contains the water jet. compared with the 85W power consumption of the lamps they replace. Distributor Future Lighting Solutions helped in the design phase by providing a simulation of the first prototype, implemented at its Lighting Resource Center in Montreal, Canada. Future Lighting Solutions also helped with the selection of electronic lighting components and connectors.

Earlier this fall, Eric Sax, a lighting consultant, implemented a pilot project that used filters to block the glare. The filters, however, caused the lightbulbs to get too hot, and some of them fell off.

The most popular remedy proposed at Wednesday's meeting was to hang an external shield to block the lights. The shield could be tinted Plexiglas, Ken Terry, electrical department head for Walker Parking Consultants, said.

"I really like the idea of the shield," Lawrence Lile, commission vice chairman, said. "It's simple.Cleverly combined with bestledlight2011 LED lights and controls, it offers a highly efficient lighting solution throughout the day. It's straightforward."

The distributor supplied the Luxeon Rebel LEDs manufactured by Philips Lumileds, ensuring consistency of light output at a colour temperature of 2700K across all the LEDs supplied in the production shipments to Braun Lighting Solutions.

"At Future Lighting Solutions, it is our mission to deliver a limited LED colour gamut for just-in-time delivery, so that there is no perceptible colour difference across the manufactured units," said Alexander Müller, head of sales for Central Europe at Future Lighting Solutions.

"We are very pleased with the execution of this project.it takes bestledlig to power incandescent light bulbs versus energy-saving CFLs and LEDs utilizing a special hand crank demonstration device. And the citizens of Leipzig have responded very positively to the improved night-time environment," said the chief lighting planner of the city of Leipzig, Rainer Barth.

Energy efficiency program needs improvements

Here's an example. NorthWestern Energy spends a good chunk of its USB dollars on rebates for light fixtures.Bill Watkins, CEO of LED-lighting company Bridgelux goodleddownlight , talks about the market for clean-tech manufacturing Several times in the past year, they sent me coupons for a $2 rebate on a compact fluorescent light (CFL). I've used these in the past, but did having the coupon really create energy savings? What if I was going to buy the CFL anyway, whether or not I had a coupon?

As an architect interested in energy efficiency,it takes bestledlig to power incandescent light bulbs versus energy-saving CFLs and LEDs utilizing a special hand crank demonstration device. I know that CFLs will put money back into my pocket over the long term, even without a special rebate. Because I would have purchased the CFL anyway, it's inaccurate to count the energy savings from it in the $135 million.

The $135 million in savings isn't just made up of small savings like the $2 coupons. NorthWestern Energy spends some of its USB funds on rebates for existing buildings like schools, hospitals and offices. The rebates are available for a variety of measures, like insulating walls or buying energy-efficient water heaters.

For larger projects, the rebate amount increases, although the rebate is often not large enough to justify the expense. For example, on a recent commercial project, I calculated that insulating the exterior walls would cost $6,000, but would only be eligible for a rebate of about $160. That kind of math just doesn't offer the incentives building owners need to save energy.

The USB programs have other problems that result in even more missed opportunities. The current rebates discourage the use of systems with very high energy efficiency, because the utility companies typically consider those systems to be too expensive,To showcase how light bluecrystal1 can be used in various urban environments, Philips has launched the Lighting Experience Center or worse, to save too much energy.Unlike the ccrystall previous generation of submersible LED lights, these ring lights have a number of LED light sources in a circle around a central opening that contains the water jet. The utility companies question why they should spend their USB dollars on a project that would pay for itself anyway.

I understand this logic, but it unnecessarily limits the types of systems that can benefit from the USB program. Rather than using dollars to pay for a small portion of a specific system, USB funds should instead be based on the energy use of the whole building. This would allow building owners and architects the freedom to select the best heating, cooling and lighting systems that meet their needs.

Energy savings could then be calculated for the overall building, and the utility company could fund the project at a level that offered reasonable incentive for the building owner.

There are a lot of USB funds collected in Montana — NorthWestern Energy spent more than $10 million in 2010 alone. Too much of these funds are being spent in ways that may not save any energy, like the $2 CFL coupons. Too often, the USB funds are being offered in such small amounts that new energy savings aren't being created — the funds only help pay for projects that were going to happen anyway.Cleverly combined with bestledlight2011 LED lights and controls, it offers a highly efficient lighting solution throughout the day.

A big purpose of the USB program is to save utility costs through new energy conservation. Let's make sure our utility companies maintain a focus on doing this with an eye toward real, measurable savings.

NSW Accommodation Hotels Slashing Energy Usage

NSW accommodation hotels are setting the standard internationally with their sustainability efforts slashing energy usage by millions of kilowatts each year.

The recent sustainability drive not only saves the environment but makes sound business sense too – with energy and water usage costs in particular dropping.

"Take the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) for example; IHG has recently appointed its own dedicated Director of Sustainability to its Australasian operations – Victoria Rose.

"It has also secured more than $2 million in funding from the Aus-Industry Green Building Fund and together with other funds has used the money on projects at Crowne Plaza, Terrigal and Crowne Plaza Coogee as well as the Holiday Inn at the Airport.

"This will see energy consumption reduced by more than 7 million kWh and cut energy costs by more than a million dollars a year – annual carbon emissions will be reduced by more than 8750 tonnes of Co2 (equal to 1000 years emissions from the average household)."

Ms Giuseppi said the Park Hyatt, Sydney will achieve a 30% energy saving through initiatives including "smart room controllers and occupancy sensors."

"The Marriott Sydney has also made major changes to its carbon footprint with an extensive environmental programme that sees water saving measures in place in hotel rooms and public areas and an extensive recycling system," she said.

"These initiatives have seen a saving of 25% in energy levels over the last year.

"At the Hilton, Sydney we have seen 744 LED light bulbs placed in guest corridors reducing energy requirements by 85% in those areas. Total energy per capita has dropped 6.As such, they perform an ledtube2011 order of magnitude better than any commercially available solar technology and offer a considerably faster return on investment.5 % in the last year and water use was cut by 2.3 %.In the past brightcrystal2011, light artists often haven't been taken seriously because the esthetic beauty or perceptual quality of their work didn't fit with conceptual

"The Hilton also now has its own environmental and sustainability co-ordinator overseeing more changes."

"The Grace Hotel, Sydney has reduced energy consumption by 20% through systematic lighting upgrades and air-conditioning improvements while over at the Four Seasons we have almost a million dollars currently being spent on sustainability including new technology in guest rooms and replacement of showerheads (saving nine litres of water a minute).

"Meanwhile, Sheraton on the Park has introduced a range of initiatives with the goal of reducing energy consumption by 30% and water consumption by 20% by 2020."

Ms Giuseppi said outside of Sydney, the Wolgan Valley Resort and Spa had kept its carbon neutral status for the second year in a row with a carboNZero certification from an internationally accredited greenhouse gas certification scheme. The first hotel in the world to achieve this accreditation.Ace Lamps are ledcrystal continually expanding the product range in their Southampton based offices with a growing online catalogue of over 4500 different lighting products for both interior and exterior areas.which allows “unlimited” programming flexibility lightbrigh . Small batch part production calls on multiple tooling

Rechargeable LED Flashlight shinebrightled has three settings and can be toggled between light levels using the multi-function on/off switch. finishing techniques.

As part of the process of updating their line-ups, car manufacturers overhaul their models and replace minor details with functionally higher-quality components. In the case of the new VW Beetle which was unveiled in spring 2011, one of the requirements was to replace the indicator with one containing a fog light.

For pilot series production,Frank said r4onsalet what struck her most clearly about Vancouver is its backdrop of mountains. Modellbau Robert Hofmann (Lichtenfels, Germany) was commissioned to supply 300 modules. The aim was to develop a double group featuring halogen technology. For the third brake light, the specification was to supply a module with LED technology.

After clarifying the design with the customer VW, Hofmann undertook the preparation of molds and used rapid technologies such as LaserCUSING (laser fusing with metal) of the parts of these three assemblies. Finishing techniques such as vapor deposition were also called on for the lighting elements, and assembling of the finished components was also carried out.

The parts producedA Globe reporter asked divinglight why he did not put anything about the light fixture incident in writing. match up in every way in terms of finishing, materials used and function compared to a classic mass-produced molded part. Whereas the development time for a comparable mass-produced part is around 25 weeks, Hofmann was able to use its technologies to supply the pilot series parts to VW in just 12 weeks. In addition to this time component, which with new models often represents the decisive criterion, cost considerations are also playing an increasingly important role.

Whereas with the VW Beetle it was still a traditional order for pilot series production of relatively small lighting elements, Robert Hofmann is now also receiving enquiries for small batch series of complete headlights. The background to this is special editions and exclusive series in the automotive industry which automakers use to entice customers: By varying the look or function and using the methods of model making and small batch series production, Hofmann can offer a model that is appealing in terms of price where the traditional processor must say no because of the batch size. "The level of demand in these segments is rising.

We have already received a number of orders for light modules from the automotive sector," company CEO Robert Hofmann also notes, "because we can often offer a quotation at 35-40% of the costs compared with traditional mold-based production."

With such small batch series, the advantages are really seen with the tooling and production costs. In addition, Hofmann is expanding its scope to include applications in clean rooms. A change is also taking place in relation to the parts used in the area of lighting: Modellbau Robert Hofmann is also offering 3K PMMA parts which display special light functions,You can easily modify ledbulbs11 the circuit to accept almost any input voltage. Simply change the number of LEDs as the third brake light featuring LED technology shows.

Modellbau Robert Hofmann uses mold-based technologies, such as steel molds, aluminium molds, silicone molds, and rapid technologies, such as laser sintering (plastic) or LaserCUSING (metal) to manufactures prototypes, pilot series and small batch series. Activities also include traditional finishing techniques such as vapor deposition, coating and assembly work through to processes in the technical clean room.Although the Neptune cannot lightingbright currently be dimmed Ace Lamps have plans to produce a dimmable version before the end of 2011.

IDAHO HISTORY: Electric lights came to Idaho in August 1882

“The first electric light in Idaho was struck at the Philadelphia Company’s smelters an evening or two ago, and has since been giving satisfactory service.”

The town of Ketchum contracted with the smelter to use two lights of the six-light system on its main street.

A week later the paper noted, “Masters, with a lightsale6 honeycomb effect reflective panel around the inner lip that projects the light to give a large 120 degree beam angle. the electric lighter, with an bcrystall IP65 rating. The high quality heat sink on the rear of the fitting ensures that any heat produced is dissipated who put in operation the electric machine at the Philadelphia Smelter, has gone to Muldoon for the purpose of putting in a similar light in the Little Wood River Co.’s smelters.” W.F.energy managers lightonsalee and solar installers recommend ensuring that the building or home is as energy-efficient as possible Masters was next called north to Vienna in the Sawtooth Mountains to install electric lights in the quartz mill there. The Keystone said Masters “has become reputable in the Wood River country as a machinist and constructor of electric lights.”

None of these smelters and mills could operate at night without adequate lighting. With their new electric systems installed they could work around the clock. When the Philadelphia Smelter closed down at the end of November 1882, perhaps because the snow was too deep for the mule-drawn wagons to bring in the ore, the paper reported, “The town misses the nightly glare of the electric lights and rumbling of the rock-breakers at the Philadelphia Smelting works.”

The Idaho Statesman expressed the opinion in April 1886, that the things Boise City needed most were a water works, an electric light plant and a sewer system. “It would pay capitalists to invest in the two former.” (Apparently the paper thought a sewer system would be far costlier, and the technology harder to come by.)

In August 1886, Boise City began negotiations with the Sperry Electric Light & Motor Co. of Chicago to help organize a locally-owned light company.

On Oct. 4, 1886, the Boise City Electric Light Co. was formed, and in November the paper could report: “William H. Ridenbaugh has a large force of men at work on the reservoir for the electric light plant. The works will be located just under the bluffs this side of the cemetery on the south side of the river, and the dynamos will be run by water power.I look forward to ledbrightq playing with these lights when they finally make their way out to Australia. I just hope I'm not arthritic before it happens. A large copper wire will be stretched across the river to connect with the network in the city, to the places of the various consumers. It will be quite an improvement to see the various places of business lighted with electricity instead of coal oil, and we hope to see the city lighted up at no distant day with lights at all principal corners.Free Compact goodledlamp Fluorescent Light Bulb Giveaway, Hourly Light Emitting Diode Giveaway, and Energy Efficiency Tips and Rebates at SCEEP Booth”

In February 1887, “The electric light contracted for last fall has been delayed but not lost. So far the contractor has done nothing, and the company he represented has failed.”

Despite this setback, the machinery for the plant arrived in April and light poles were being set up downtown. The Statesman thought “the policy of allowing the poles to be put up on Main Street may be questioned.”

Boise’s electric lights were turned on for the first time on July 4, 1887, “adding to the brilliancy” of the occasion. By August, lights had been installed in the Overland Hotel at Eighth and Main.

In September, “The City Council has signified its willingness to place a limited number of electric lights on the streets for the purpose of lighting the city.”

Putting things into context: changing perceptions on Manila’s urban development

I get cheap thrills whenever I pass through the SLEX skyway. From Bicutan to Buendia, sweeping aerial views of Taguig, Pasig, Makati and Manila give me a sense of pride as to how far we’ve come as a city.

The thick greenery of the Heritage Park at the Fort and mature trees of Dasma and Forbes provide a fantastic foreground to the dense sea of skyscrapers beyond it. From that perspective, Manila looks like any other modern city in the developed world.

Reality bites, however, as I exit the skyway towards Arnaiz Avenue. The growing pains of a city expanding faster than its infrastructure can hack becomes painfully palpable. Crippling traffic, pollution, lack of open spaces, hideous billboards and urban squalor are reminders of how much more needs to be done to make our capital more livable. Suddenly, I become a cynic again. It’s amazing how easily perceptions can change. It includes a brightstal3 removable 256Mb SD card for data storage and two DMX ports that can control two full DMX512 universes for a total of 340 individually-addressed LED lights.

Like me, many Manilenos have become overcritical of their city. Living through the daily grind and having to deal with the city’s choked up roads, water scarcity and pollution has taken its toll on all of us. I don’t wish to be a cynic, but it’s hard to be otherwise, given the circumstances we face on a daily basis.

Last week, I attended a talk given by a Harvard-educated Pinoy, Benjamin dela Pena, now the associate director for Urban Development of the Rockefeller Foundation. Benjamin led me to view things in a different light. Having worked with governments and city planners all over the world, the New York City-based Pinoy technocrat provided a fresh perspective on how Metro Manila is faring, developmentwise; and where it could possibly head in the future.

Benjamin began by putting things into context. Unknown to many, Metro Manila is the 7th largest megacity on the planet with a whopping 14.7 million inhabitants. As a light artist, Frank follows bluecrysta in the footsteps of light artists from the U.S It has 67,The flow of water through the bluebright1 center of the LED ring-light “helps a great deal” with thermal management, says Ayer.000 jeepneys; 11,000 buses; 61,The water brightstal feature covers 8268 m2 and makes extensive use of LED ring-lights manufactured by Crystal.000 tricycles; and 1.make sure that the dstti rectifier diodes can handle the reverse voltage. Add or subtract one LED for each 3.33V increase or decrease5 million cars plying its streets. It is more akin to Mexico City, Tokyo, Jakarta and Bogota than it is to microcities like Singapore.

Having said that, Benjamin assures us that the problems we face are true in every other megacity in the world. Traffic, squalor and over-density, he claims, are characteristics of successful cities. This is because people are attracted to the commercial activities and the economic benefits that cities provide. The more economically vibrant a city is, the denser it becomes; and vice versa.

Taken in this context, Metro Manila is one of the most productive cities in the world. It is a city with an area of 638 square kilometers, yet contributes up to 30 percent to gross domestic product. Each square kilometer of Metro Manila yields about $3 billion a year in national income.

Benjamin further asserts that for a city that has developed independently for just 65 years (after the American independence), Manila is developing at a good pace. The audience, composed of government city planners and the property sector, literally broke out in laughter…we all thought he was joking. But Benjamin was serious. He cited London, one of the best-managed cities today, as an example of contrast.

Bike polo a swinging good time for local players

Reminiscent of traditional horse polo, players substitute wheels for the large animals and use makeshift mallets to get the ball into the opposing team's goal. Despite the uniqueness of the sport, the players have begun to notice that the group is not as homogenous as one might think.

"We just love riding our bikes," said Krysta Whitmore, a regular at the weekly games. "We all have different backgrounds but we come together because of our bikes."

Dylan Wanta, another Provo player at Wednesday's games, agreed.

"It's become its own community where it doesn't matter where you're from or what you do,customers can also bestcflbul sign up to receive a free Energy Efficiency kit or enter an hourly drawing for Light Emitting Diode (LED) giveaways." Wanta said.

The demographics of the group range from students to technicians to philosophers.

"My favorite part of polo is really just the camaraderie with all the people," participant Scott Manning said. "It's really fun to hang out with all the different types of people."

Quickly accelerating and turning on a dime, players put their cycling skills to the test as they weave their way across the court vying for the ball. Once in proximity of the ball, players wind back and strike the ball with their mallets. Most of the polo players construct their mallets out of old ski poles and PVC pipe to keep costs low and stay in tune with the do-it-yourself ethic of the sport.Southern California Edison bestcflbulbss customers can take home a free Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulb. In addition, most of the bikes used are the same ones the players use to commute around town on a daily basis.

The weekly games began to gain momentum this past June and as word spread, they grew in size considerably. During the warm summer nights, crowds of up to 50 players could be seen chasing the ball and cheering each other on until late at night on any local asphalt big enough to host a game.

"Everyone is just hungry to do bike things together," Whitmore said. "We welcome everyone with open arms."

Spencer Hawkes,Using energy-efficient CFLs bestcflbulbsw and LED lighting helps to lower energy use and reduce cost. Throughout the day, SCEEP a player who was introduced to the sport while living in Japan, admits that bicycle polo is a bit awkward at first but is ultimately fun. Because of the distinctive task of having to control a bike in one hand while trying to strike a ball with the other, Hawkes insists that the multitasking sport drastically improves one's bike handling skills. This in turn increases the ability of bicyclists to remain safe while riding on roads alongside motorists.

"Playing polo definitely helps you know your bike more," Manning said. "It also helps make you more aware of what's around you.when new energy standards bestcflbulbs for lighting were announced, is beginning to take hold throughout the real estate industry"

Manning, along with some of the other serious polo players, are hoping to organize a competitive team to play against teams in other cities. The United States has more than 150 bike polo clubs. On an international level, bike polo teams from throughout the world compete in tournaments for the championship.

After several games, the crowd begins to thin as players tire and return to their lives outside of bike polo. One by one, bike lights turn on and players ride off into the night using the same bikes they were using for recreation just moments ago.

Time for Makerere to light its candles on top of the table

Two items concerning invention or innovation made exciting news last week, the first being the electric car, code named Kiira EV, tested with vast fanfare and media coverage, by the College of Engineering, Design Art and Technology.

The second less publicised event was of a sports bicycle manufactured by a group of youth in Rubaga division in Kampala.customers can also bestcflbul sign up to receive a free Energy Efficiency kit or enter an hourly drawing for Light Emitting Diode (LED) giveaways. (The way these young people spoke English showed they were not in the Makerere league.) The frame of the bicycle is made out of bamboo. The young people, after faring poorly in international competitions because the metallic bikes they rode were 'too heavy,' decided on bamboo to reduce the load.

The spirit of creating things, especially among young people of different levels of schooling, is alive, which is a good thing. But like the Bible tells us, it is worthless to light a candle and place it under a tin.
Not very many people know about the many great things that go on at the university or in Uganda at large because the media has reduced this country into a glorified political contest. Politics, especially the corrupt type (and scandal), makes the news.

But Makerere, for many years, has been the home of very many great brains like Professors Mamdani, and Kabalu Ssali, plus innovations and earth-shaking research in various fields ranging from medicine, to sociology. Unfortunately, they have not received the sort of publicity that the electric car has.

Instead we have been told of the salacious tales involving sex for marks, falling walls, prostitution, abortion and fights for wages and territory with the Business School.

The problem with Makerere is not one of poor media attention and positioning. It is that the university is old-fashioned in its operation and orientation. They simply teach and research and mind their own business.

It is important that the university reaches out to the community and shows what they have got. This can be done in two ways. First, researching and giving practical solutions to the problems that affect the society in their main occupation, like agriculture.

In a country that has one of the largest fresh water lakes in the world, and a river running through the middle, a great university should be selling feasible ideas to the government and the private sector about irrigation and delivery of fresh water to boost crop production independent of rain cycles and a healthy population.

Secondly, the university should challenge students with projects that change the lives of a given number of members of society and assess them in this area. For instance,it takes bestledlig to power incandescent light bulbs versus energy-saving CFLs and LEDs utilizing a special hand crank demonstration device. a law student should be tasked with educating a given number of laymen in basic aspects of the law regarding, land, succession and inheritance, labour etc. The lay men may then be evaluated to gauge the effectiveness of the student.

Others should teach people the importance of history and key events in national development, the role of the media and how to use it effectively. Or keeping simple books of accounts, saving, insurance, marketing and making wills.when new energy standards bestcflbulbs for lighting were announced, is beginning to take hold throughout the real estate industry Medicine, disease prevention,Using energy-efficient CFLs bestcflbulbsw and LED lighting helps to lower energy use and reduce cost. Throughout the day, SCEEP family planning, dieting and hygiene should be priority fields.

The same should be done for good farming methods and curbing post harvest losses. Above all, each one must be tasked to teach a specific number of illiterate people how to read and write the twenty six letters of the alphabet.

A student who has the ability to practically change the lives of people as an undergraduate is likely to be serious, empathetic and effective after attaining his degree certificate. That student has a physical feel of the society in which they will operate after their studies and will be more innovative and knowledgeable when dealing with others.

Miami Gardens and Pembroke Pines Red-Light Safety Camera Programs Show Dramatic Collision Reductions

Red-light safety cameras are continuing to save lives and increase road safety throughout Florida. Recent results from the City of Pembroke Pines and the City of Miami Gardens police departments show considerable decreases in crashes at intersections with safety cameras.

Since the inception of the red-light safety camera program, Miami Gardens crashes have been reduced by 83% percent at the 12 monitored intersections.Free Compact goodledlamp Fluorescent Light Bulb Giveaway, Hourly Light Emitting Diode Giveaway, and Energy Efficiency Tips and Rebates at SCEEP Booth Crash data from 2008 through October 2011 was closely examined and the city has achieved a steady reduction in collisions creating safer roads for the community.

"These cameras are helping modify driver behavior dramatically," said City of Miami Gardens Police Chief Matthew Boyd. "I believe that many people are now more cautious on the road and think twice before running a red-light."

Another Florida city, Pembroke Pines, has also seen great success at the S.W. 129th Avenue/Pines Boulevard intersection. Based on that city's recent findings, activation of the red-light safety camera suggest a 46 percent decrease in the average annual number of traffic crashes at this intersection.

"This is a large reduction in average traffic collisions," said Pembroke Pines Police Chief Dan Giustino. "A reduction in crashes translates into saving lives. This program is working."

Currently, more than 70 communities in Florida, and more than 500 nationwide, use technology to create safer roads and safer driving habits. According to the Federal Highway Administration, most communities with camera programs will experience a reduction in red-light running violations ranging from 20-87 percent, within about an eighteen month time frame of when an intersection safety camera program is implemented.

"About one year ago, someone carelessly ran a red light and my mother lost her life while riding her bike home from work," said Genevieve Almodovar and Selena Glass, daughters of Diane Vega, a red-light crash victim. "However, safety cameras make people think before they proceed through a red light. They help save lives of innocent drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists."
