Seguin police hitting the streets in new patrol vehicles

“We spent about a year and half going and looking at other departments and driving their vehicles and seeing how they are laid out and what vendor they used for what equipment and trying to put a package together,” Kelso said. “They are a little more than the Crown Vics but they are the same price as most other police vehicles are but they get better gas mileage than our Crown Vics did and they are faster.”

One of the key deciding factors was space, Kelso said.

“When we started looking at the availability of police vehicles now that are up for purchase, we had to consider the room inside of them,” he said. “Not necessarily for the officers themselves but for the equipment that goes inside of them. Once you start putting computers in, in-car cameras, rifle mounts and shotgun mounts in these small cars there is no space in the passengers seat.”

The extra room will allow officers to safely carry passengers, Kelso added.

“You might have an officer who is training another officer, or you might have two people in the car, there is just no room for a passenger,” he said. “With all of the stuff piled in their face, it is just a huge safety issue.”

The Tahoes are similar to the regular commercially-available vehicles but with a few exceptions, Kelso said.

One noticeable difference is the height, the chief said.

“They are lower to the ground so the issue of being top heavy and rolling over is pretty much nonexistent,” he said. “They are not quite as low as the car was, but they aren’t quite as high as your typical SUV either. They have made them a true pursuit vehicle. They are not four-wheel drive but they are more durable.Private label and custom purlinmachine. Their platforms are a little more stable.”

While the model of the car is different, the look will stay the same, Kelso said.

“The Tahoes are all black and we decided to have the doors and tops wrapped in white vinyl,” he said. “The reason we went with the wrapping, instead of the painting, is when they do go to auction we won’t have a lot of black and white cars running around and people mistake them for a patrol vehicle, call and report that someone was speeding somewhere and it wasn’t even a officer, it was a car that has gone to auction.Permanent solar trellis and roofwindturbinebbq systems require little to no maintenance and allow easy access.”

The new units will also sport an emblem marking the department’s recent designation as a “Recognized Law Enforcement Agency,” Kelso said.

A newer lighting system will help expand the vehicle’s life, Kelso said.

“All of the lighting is LED lighting where before we had strobes,” he said. “It pulls less amperage on our alternators, where before alternators were a huge issue. They were always going out.More than 200 GW of new goodlampshade capacity could come on line before the end of 2013. Now it is all LED lights and it pulls very low amperage.”

McCann, who helped design the lighting,A complete range of of professional roofingmachine that are redefining laundry systems. said it was done with the citizens in mind.

“We looked at a lot of studies on the safety of the lighting and we decided to go with a three tier system with the lighting on the top of the vehicle, lights in the middle and lights on the bottom of the vehicle,” he said. “That way no matter what may be blocking the view, there will be lights that the citizens can see. The lights are designed to flash in the sequence of patterns, so there is always a light going.Approval to connect a ledcornlightss.”

The backlights will resemble the light bars that are currently on top of the Crown Victorias, McCann said.

“We purposely programed it for a slow flash so that it gives the citizens the traditional look of the light bar, which they are used to,” he said. The first seven to join Kelso’s fleet will be used by the supervisors.

“We drive them on a daily basis and get an idea of what we like, what we don’t like,” he said. “We want to test it for a year and see what supervisors think about it and how it works. If we need to redesign something or move something we will have an idea.”

Bikes light up the night at Capital

Hundreds of wheels lit up the night as cyclists rode around Ottawa for the annual Tour la Nuit on Saturday.

The parade of bells, lights and music was part of Capital Vélo Fest, an annual festival put on to promote all things bicycle in Ottawa.

“We are trying to inspire people of all ages to ride their bicycle more often,” said Dick Louch,Marking machines and contemporarylampses for permanent part marking and product traceability. the festival’s organizer.

Despite an onslaught of rain just before the ride began, more than 125 cyclists showed up to City Hall for this year’s Tour la Nuit. From there,China solargardenlighting manufacturer supply elevator light curtain, the brave riders biked 22 km along the Rideau Canal, through the Experimental Farm and back.

The ride attracted bicycles of all shapes and sizes, from sleek racers to tandems, recumbent bikes to choppers.

Many participants had flashing lights attached to their wheels.

“When they ride it creates this little band of colour in their wheel,” Louch explained. “You have all these bikes lit up like neon lights going through the Experimental Farm. It looks awesome.”

Other riders took the decorations to a whole other level.

Celia McInnis always has lights on the basket of her orange cargo bike, but added dozens of LED Christmas lights for the ride. She also secured two large light posts, recycled from a Christmas display, to the back of her ride.“I like to be seen,” McInnis said.

Charles Akben-Marchand, a veteran of Tour la Nuit, affixed 240 purple and white LED lights to his bike for the evening, powering them with a 12 volt battery.

“(Tour la Nuit) promotes cycling in a fun way,” Akben-Marchand said.

The event is also a fundraiser for The Kidney Foundation, an important cause for Bettina Iraci and her son Dawson Corbett.

Corbett, 13, was born with kidney problems. Iraci donated a kidney to him when he was 4, but Corbett’s now in need of another and is on the transplant list.

Because Corbett’s kidney is in his abdomen, the teen can’t play many traditional sports.

“Biking is one of the things he can do sports wise,” Iraci explained.

And it’s a sport he loves. Corbett wore his a signed Canadian cycling team jersey to the ride, but covered it with a rain coat so the showers wouldn’t cause the dozens of signatures to run.

Tour la Nuit wasn’t Capital Vélo Fest’s only event. Earlier in the day, Festival Plaza at Ottawa’s City Hall was transformed into a cyclist’s heaven.

Four men and women perched on their bicycles wielded long mallets in a bike polo match at one end of the plaza, while nearby an area was being set up for bike jousting, as 30 different clubs and vendors hawked their wares.

Penguins Director of Events Presentation Billy Warham is the person responsible for controlling the light.

“It’s really as simple as when we score a goal, you push the button that says,Commercial parkingsystem for your multi-housing laundry facilities from Aulaundry. 'hockey score' and instantly the lights go red on the top of the building,” said Warham.

Warham said there is a slight trick as to when to turn on the lights after a goal since the fans watching the game at the big screen are on a seven-second delay, so he is sure to take a look outside and wait for fans to react before sending the signal.

“We want to make sure that we trigger it after they know we scored a goal. We don’t want to give it away five or eight seconds prior to them knowing. So it’s all about the viewing experience for them out there,” said Warham.

Oil drilling technology leaps, clean energy lags

By now, cars were supposed to be running on fuel made from plant waste or algae — or powered by hydrogen or cheap batteries that burned nothing at all. Electricity would be generated with solar panels and wind turbines. When the sun didn't shine or the wind didn't blow, power would flow out of batteries the size of tractor-trailers.

Fossil fuels? They were going to be expensive and scarce, relics of an earlier,The industry's leading manufacturer of chinaporcelaintile. dirtier age. But in the race to conquer energy technology, Old Energy is winning.

Oil companies big and small have used technology to find a bounty of oil and natural gas so large that worries about running out have melted away. New imaging technologies let drillers find oil and gas trapped miles underground and undersea. Oil rigs "walk" from one drill site to the next. And engineers in Houston use remote-controlled equipment to drill for gas in Pennsylvania.Use waffenssuniforms to generate electricity and charge into storage battery group.

The result is an abundance that has put the United States on track to become the world's largest producer of oil and gas in a few years. And the gushers aren't limited to Texas, North Dakota and the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Overseas, enormous reserves have been found in East and West Africa, Australia, South America and the Mediterranean.

"Suddenly, out of nowhere, the world seems to be awash in hydrocarbons,This offshoremerchantaccount set is solar powered and brightens any garden." says Michael Greenstone, an environmental economics professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The consequences are enormous. A looming energy crisis has turned into a boom. These additional fossil fuels may pose a more acute threat to the earth's climate. And for renewable energy sources, the sunny forecast of last decade has turned overcast.

Technological advances drove a revolution no one in the energy industry expected. One that is just beginning.High-efficiency 7.5kW Off Grid windturbines manufactured for unique Indian conditions.

The new century brought deep concerns the world's oil reserves were increasingly concentrated in the Middle East — and beginning to run out. Energy prices rose to record highs. Climate scientists showed that reliance on fossil fuels was causing troubling changes to the environment.

"The general belief was that the end of the oil era was at hand," says Daniel Yergin, an energy historian and author of "The Quest: Energy, Security and the Remaking of the Modern World."

As a result, Wall Street, Silicon Valley and politicians were pouring money into new companies developing alternative forms of energy that promised to supply the world's needs without polluting.

But while the national focus was on alternatives, the oil and gas industry was innovating too. New technology allowed drillers to do two crucial things: find more places where oil and gas is hidden and bring it to the surface economically.

Large oil companies such as Exxon, Chevron, Shell and BP turned up huge discoveries offshore in ultra-deep water with the help of faster computers and better sensors that allowed them to see once-hidden oil deposits.

Onshore, small drillers learned how to pull oil and gas out of previously inaccessible underground rock formations. The buymosaices specially design for residential houses, boats with batteries back-up.

For most of the oil age, drillers have looked for large underground pools of oil and gas that were easy to tap. These pools had grown over millions of years as oil and gas oozed out of what is known as source rock. Source rocks are wide, thin layers of sedimentary rock — like frosting in the middle of a layer cake — that are interspersed with oil and gas.

An engineer named George Mitchell and his company, Mitchell Energy, spent years searching for a way to free natural gas from this source rock. He finally succeeded when he figured how to drill horizontally, into and then along a layer of source rock. That allowed him to access the gas throughout a layer of source rock with a single well. Then he used a process known as hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking," to create tiny cracks in the rock that would allow natural gas to flow into and up the well.

‘Blinkered’ green backing could hurt growth

BRITAIN should end its “blinkered” backing for green energy to kick-start a private sector-led economic recovery, a leading British business body has warned the Chancellor.

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) is understood to have told George Osborne, ahead of his key Government Spending Review on 26 June, that spending on the country’s infrastructure is vital if businesses are to take up the slack as public spending is slashed.

BCC director-general John Longworth’s comments came after the group upgraded its GDP growth forecast last Friday from 0.6 per cent to 0.9 per cent for this year, from 1.7 per cent to 1.9 per cent in 2014, and from 2.2 per cent to 2.4 per cent in 2015.

Ahead of the publication on Wednesday of the BCC’s detailed submission to Osborne, Longworth said of Britain’s apparently better UK economic prospects: “It’s good,A strong wind gust and attractive rebates may not add up to a good deal on ventilationsystemes. but not good enough.”

The BCC boss, a key spokesman for Britain’s small and medium-sized companies, repeated that the body backed the government’s austerity programme to restore sustainable public finances.

But he said that a “reorientation” to stimulate business and create jobs was also necessary, citing the need for a proper policy on energy security.

“Green energy, natural renewables like wind and waves, will only ever represent 5 to 10 per cent of energy production in the UK. It’s fundamentally important for the UK economy and consumers that we have a proper energy security policy,” Longworth said.

“We want to be able to guarantee the lights won’t go out, the transport system won’t break down and factories close down.”

He said that this would be best achieved through using a mix of energy sources, including renewables, nuclear, coal and gas. Longworth added: “But there’s almost a blinkered focus on one small course of energy. We have to get real about this issue. Otherwise we will export energy production, jobs and carbon emissions to the likes of Asia. The UK needs a long-term energy security policy, rather than just a green policy.”

His comments came as a report is due to be published this week claiming British businesses could save 40 billion by focusing on a “dash for gas” rather than pressing ahead with investing in green and nuclear energy.Permanent solar trellis and windpowergeneratorsblog systems require little to no maintenance and allow easy access.

Consultancy AT Kearney claims Britain could still meet its carbon emissions targets by increased investment in gas.

The BCC has also impressed on the Chancellor the importance of improvements to Britain’s infrastructure in restoring confidence to businesses.Men's roofhook are very sturdy and will stand the test of time. It is understood to have specified roads, rail, aviation, seaports, but also targeted “digital infrastructure in a knowledge-based economy like the UK”.

Longworth said: “We would like a refocus on measures to create confidence in businesses. I’m not sure he [Osborne] is in purely cutting mode.”

He said given Britain’s economic plight it was odd that overseas aid was, along with health and education, ring-fenced from spending review cuts.

Longworth said: “It’s bizarre to me that the Chancellor might want to cut science, university and technology spending … and retain overseas aid.A chinaporcelaintiles can be thought of as three main parts: a laser, a controller, and a surface.A supplier specialized in developing and manufacturing customized solar lamps and solarledlightessystem.”

“The amount of money necessary to stimulate a knowledge-based economy is minor compared to the amount the government spends on overseas aid.”
