The American Falls will have a morning show feel to them Thursday night.
As part of the Today Show's 60th anniversary, NBC has arranged to have the show's familiar red, orange and yellow colours illuminated on both the American and Horseshoe Falls, starting at 5 p.m. Footage will be shown on Friday's Today Show, wrapping up a week of anniversary celebrations.
"We're having the Empire State Building lit up here in Manhattan, the Bellagio in Las Vegas, the CIRA Centre in Philadelphia," says NBC spokeswoman Monica Lee. "We're glad that everyone's joining from each area."
Lee says Niagara Falls was a "natural" choice for producers to tap, and Today Show hosts have been hyping it all week. The colours will be displayed until midnight.
Different colours are nothing new on the falls. Though it's usually charities that make requests to the Niagara Falls Illumination Board, exceptions are made for special events.

Formed in 1925, the Illumination Board is financed by groups on both sides of the Niagara River,A huge range of r4onsale, front and rear bike lights, dry-cell battery and rechargeable solutions such as Halogen, including both city halls, and keeps the falls lit up every night until at least 10 p.m. The last time the lights went out was during a blackout in August 2003.
Board chairman Paul Dyster, the mayor of Niagara Falls, N.Y., says the resulting publicity from the Today Show is worth changing the colours for one night.
"We're shining lights on the falls anyway, so it's a relatively small thing for us whether it's this colour or that colour,Welcome to the world of WiseLED bestledlight, incredible brightness and high quality flashlights suitable for diving," he says.
"The reason why people want to be associated with the falls is because it's a natural wonder … before you (put lights) on that image,Xeccon S12 is a kind of very amazing Cree T6 goodskylanterns, it perform very well among the various brand bicycle lights. you really have to weigh the cost against the benefits."
It's a tactic the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority has also adapted for the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie. Spokesman Matt Davison says the agency gets between 30 to 50 requests per year to light the bridge in different colours.
Using an LED computer-controlled system with unlimited lighting options, all of the bridge's arches and its Parker Truss are illuminated. Requests from the public are considered, so long as they support a local or national health issue. Otherwise, the bridge is illuminated to celebrate Canadian and American holidays and Bills and Sabres games.
