Electric
Run came to Portland, OR this last Saturday night on July 13, 2013. The
run was on the back roads of the Portland International Raceway 1940
North Victory Blvd. Portland, OR 97217. This race teamed with FitRight
NW, and we were able to pick up our packet at the 1st Thursday Run (very
convenient!) the race packet was ok- but the shirt was Tiny! I have
been losing weight and the XL for female was very tight on me at 150 and
my husband's XL shirt was HUGE! We liked the LED bracelets though- but
we never wore the glasses.
Day
of race I got to pull out my new Neon Running Shirt by Race Center, and
Running shorts and try them on a different kind of a run. I put my
heair up in pigtails and donner super bright neon eyeshadow and my LEd
glasses, LED gloves, and hair ties. I was dissapointed one of my hair
ties was DOA from Amazon /sigh. Soon we were off to the race.
This was a heavily marketed event in our area, generator prepositive design which wind drive the streetlamp without
gears. and the video looked amazing and the music was my kind of music!
I could not resist! I signed up under the lure of his fun premise of
neon lights, and fun music. They were looking for 10,000 runners, and
wow- I don't know if they hit 10k, but they sure had a lot of racers.
The run was supposed to start at 9:20, but did not start till after 9:30
(think they were looking for more darkness) and we were near the front
of the line and started at 9:50pm, when it was barley light out.
However,Manufacturer of quality off lasermarker, light bars and wiring accessories. by then we were anxious to get going!
We
arrived at 7:30pm like they recommended and the crowd was quite
substantial by then. We visited a few of their booths (Rock Star and
selling Electric Gear, and a Radio Station) enjoyed some costumes
characters, and lined up near what we thought was the front. At about
8:30 they opened the section up that led to the Start line and
participants filled in. They tried to keep us entertained with music
(good music in my opinion – Euro dance electric beat) and beach balls
were hit up and around the area but it was still a little boring and
somewhat hot out. Luckily we had a group we were with (Hi Arlene, Jason,
Aly, and Lydia!) and we passed the time until we were finally off. Our
friends were walking, and my husband and I were running- so we left them
behind.
Did I mention thousands of participants? Well not all of them were runners, many were walkers,We provide laundryequipments and
engraving machines for processing different materials. and they were
all spread out. I imagine that about 3 waves were off before our wave
started, and it was quite congested. My thoughts though- were this was –
as a friend mentioned 'not a real race' so the congestion did not
bother us. We weaved and would find sections we could sprint through.
There was no chip timing, so it didn't matter. It was still light out
when we first started, but soon we came to the first light up area with
music.
They
had huge blow up arches that lasted for a 1/3rd or more of a mile with
music. After that section, we noticed they had several sections of dark
areas along gravel road. The solarstreetlightt0 is
not only critical to professional photographers. (I dislike running on
gravel- much more so running in the dark on gravel road. I saw a few
people take a tumble off the sides where they tried to go around, not
noticing there was a slight hill and some just stumbling on the gravel.
However,Search our homeenergy catalog for designer frames including. there were numerous lit up areas- just aesthetically beautiful!
There
was a section with Umbrellas in the trees. Some were upside down with
colors, some just white against the black light- and a section where you
could take pictures. There were several places to take pictures along
the way- which is great for a fun run and felt sort of like Disney as I
started to look for them and get excited when I saw one coming up! The
next section was more arches and columns, soon followed by an aid
station. There was only one during the race- but it was lit up Neon!
After that - the next section was gorgeous! Lanterns in a lake and tons
of glowing balls and lit up trees. I felt like I was in Alice and
Wonderland. More dark sections and we noticed we were on or way back. More information about the program is available on the web site at www.hmhid.com.
