Interior wise the Lexus is plush and well designed with comfortable seats and plenty of storage and cubbyholes.
Impressive and very intuitive is the Lexus remote touch system used in conjunction with the central display screen to control functions. It is operated with a handy joystick conveniently positioned where one’s right hand would rest on the center console. It is very effective and one of the RX450’s best features.
Entering its second generation, the RX 450h features an enhanced Lexus Hybrid Drive system with a 3.5-liter V6 gas engine that runs on a highly efficient Atkinson cycle. Combined with a new, more efficient inverter, the total system output will be 295 horsepower – 27 more horsepower than the current generation RX hybrid. Two new systems also aid in improving fuel efficiency.
The RX 450h features a front-wheel hybrid drive or an electronically driven, part-time all-wheel-drive (AWD) hybrid drive system as on our tester. Of note is the RX 450h’s rear-mounted electric motor-generator, which allows all four wheels to perform regenerative braking, charging the hybrid battery.
