Acura
is saying that they will essentially have two “flagship” vehicles for
2014: the MDX SUV and the car we’re discussing here, the RLX full-size
sedan. It’s a noble move on their part; respecting the MDX for being the
brand’s bestselling model in Canada for a number of years now, but also
giving the RLX a bit of a boost after what has been a dodgy few years
for Acura’s big sedan—they sold less than 100 last year and are
predicting to sell around 300 this year.
The
RLX may be Acura’s biggest, but in reality, it competes more with the
second-biggest in other luxury line-ups; models like the BMW 5 Series,
Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Lexus GS Series. In fact, since the RLX is
front-drive and front-drive only for now, you can even argue that the
Lexus ES Series is what buyers are really going to cross-shop the RLX
with. That could be a problem for Acura, as the ES starts at
significantly less than the $49,990 basic price of the RLX.
There
are two trims on top of that base: Tech ($55,990) and Elite ($62,190).
The Tech package gets you a better sound system, 19-inch wheels, heated
steering wheel and other features, while Elite adds heated back seats,
even more upscale Krell audio system, lane keep assist and low speed
folow, which is an advanced adaptive cruise control system that will
actually take your car all the way down to 0 kilometers-per-hour; it can
even be used in stop and go traffic which, if it works as advertised
(we didn’t get to test it in stop-and-go), should be quite a feature and
yet another step in the direction towards cars driving themselves.
Having
said that, there’s more room in the RLX than there is in the ES (and in
the GS, too), you get more power at base than either—that’s 310
horsepower,Elevator safety parts are usually include elevator speed
governor、ledstriplights and
elevator buffer. and 272 pound-feet of torque—and the RLX has an ace up
its sleeve that neither Lexus nor any other competitor has had for
quite some time.
From
the outside, the RLX’s calling-card—and that of the MDX and more Acura
models to come—are the jewel-eye headlights,Easily installed solar
mounting systems for drycleaningmachiness and
pitched roofs. whose LED bulbs are responsible for your daytime running
lights, regular headlights and brights. Other manufacturers are
surrounding their main lenses with LED strips,We have the ultra laundrdryer that
you have been looking for. but Acura maintains that their choice
provides a more aerodynamic and fluid look to the front end.
All
I know is that there are few—if any—other cars that look quite like
this from the front. A bonus is the colour of the light emitted which
Acura says mimics that of the sun, important because the human eye sees
best in natural light.
The
rest of the styling package is elegant, if not all that exciting; the
wheels on our tester look lifted straight from the old RL parts bin
(there are nicer options), and even the rear fascia is somewhat
derivative of older Acuras, the current Honda Accord and even has a hint
of a little Hyundai Genesis sedan. The LED bands within the headlight
lenses are, however, a nice touch.
Like
the MDX we looked at last week, Acura has taken strides to add some
simplicity to the interior, especially when it comes to the centre
stack. Like the MDX, the button-count has been greatly reduced through
the implementation of a touchscreen for your climate, entertainment and
Bluetooth needs. The on-screen buttons are big and clear, but Acura goes
one step further by providing a touchscreen with haptic feedback; like
the operation of Cadillac’s CUE system,Protect your vehicle and produce
power with a washerextractorrs. the screen vibrates when a command is received,We are specializing industrialextractoredd manufacturer. helping you avoid inadvertently over-adjusting your fan speed, for example.
All
that techy stuff is nice, but what I liked best about the RLX’s
interior is how spacious it feels. As mentioned before, there’s more
rear legroom than pretty much all of the competition but you’ve got more
shoulder room as well, making for a very airy cockpit overall. It’s a
huge step forward from the RL, which felt closer to an old TL than a new
Acura model.
